This is a HUGE SAFETY issue!!!!!! The engine randomly shuts off, which also causes the brakes to stop working and to have no power steering. Anything connected to the battery is fine (lights, radio, dashboard, etc.). myself, any passenger, and those around me are put at risk by the car shutting off in the middle of the road. Someone could hit me because I am not moving, or I am trying to get out of the way. or I might end up hitting someone else because the brakes don't work. this is a huge risk to life and limb. Noone other than myself has tried to see what is going on with my car, specifically. i have already put out a lot of money on parts that research says it COULD be. other people have had the same complaint about their Dodge vehicles. they have even taken them to many repair shops, with no one finding a real answer as to why this is happening. i would just like a car the safe to drive with my kids in it. as it is i fear for their safety if they were to ride in it. they are no warning lights or messages. I fear for my safety, the safety of my children, and the safety of others on the road around me. This car should really not be on the road without a definite answer to the problem.

THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ACTUATOR, PANEL, AND KNOB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WALLY ARMOUR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1950 W STATE ST, ALLIANCE, OH 44601, (330) 422-8602) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS SLUDGE IN THE HEATER CORE. THE HEATER CORE, THERMOSTAT AND ACTUATOR WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. AFTER A SECONDARY DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

STARTED AFTER A PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A ISSUE UNTIL I HAD IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN STARTED THE LIMP MODE AND THEN DRIVING IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. PURCHASED 2012 DODGE SXT PLUS AT AUCTION. RECHARGED A/C BUT LOSE COLD AIR AFTER 3 DAYS. EVALUATIONS BY 2 MECHANICS, DYE, PRESSURE TESTS, SHOWS NO FREON LEAKS. HEATER CORE IS LEAKING AND POSSIBLE EVAPORATOR ISSUE, SAME AS WHAT'S SEEN IN OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR AVENGERS. FRUSTRATING THAT THE HEATER CORE LEAK IS SO COMMON ON AVENGERS, MECHANICS ALL STATE IS MANUFACTURING ISSUE, BUT NO RECALL ON IT. EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE AND NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WON'T GO OUT AGAIN.
MY CAR IS BLOWING COLD AIR OUT OF THE PASSAGE SIDE VENTS, THEN WARM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, WHEN I RUN THE AC, AT IDLE OR DRIVING. THE AC NOW ONLY BLOWS COOL AIR OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE, AND WARM OUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE. WHEN I TURN THE CONTROL KNOBS, THE FAN WILL BLOW HIGH ON NUMBER 1. I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AS WELL, WHEN I HAVE ON THE HEADLIGHTS, AND ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW, THE LIGHTS DIM, THEN RETURN TO REGULAR BRIGHTNESS. THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH FOR THE FIRST 10 SECONDS, WHEN STARTING THE CAR. MY BEST GUESS IS HEATER CORE OR ACTUATOR ISSUES. THIS PROCESS WAS ATTEMPTED THREE TIMES, BUT IT STILL DID NOT WORK AND THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE AS LONG AS IT DID NOT REACH 70 MPH. I'VE HAD MY AVENGER IN DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CONFIRM MY HEATER CORE IS BLOCKED. IT COSTS OVER 2K TO FIX THIS ISSUE CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE OR LACK OF DODGE FACTORY ENGINE INSPECTIONS. I'VE SPOKEN TO FCA THE DODGE PARENT COMPANY AND THEIR ANSWER IS WE SHOULD'VE HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH I'M WITHIN THE MILEAGE FOR THE FACTORY WARRANTY BUT OUT OF AMOUNT OF YEARS COVERAGE . MY AVENGER HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM AN OUTSIDE SOURCE BUT THAT COMPANY WILL NOT COVER DODGE CREATED MALFUNCTIONS. THE ATTACHED INFO SHOWS MY AVENGER AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP ON 03-06-2019. I ALSO HAD IT SERVICED IN WICHITA AT PR AUTOGLASS AND AUTO SERVICES JUST PRIOR TO BRINGING IT TO DODGE DEALERSHIP. PR AUTOGLASS AND SERVICES STATED IT IS THE HEATER CORE AND THAT THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE FLUSHED OUT AS IT HAS ACCUMULATED IN THE HEATER CORE BLOCKING IT FROM BEING PROFESSIONALLY FLUSHED. THE RESIDUE WAS ALSO EVIDENT IN THE RADIATOR BUT FLUSHING DID REMOVE THAT THE BEST WE CAN TELL. DODGE HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HAVING LEFT THIS DEBRIS IN THE ENGINE BLOCKS DURING THE MACHINING PROCESSES ON AVENGERS.

COME TO FIND OUT THE PRESSURE BLEW BACK AND POPPED HOSES OF AND BROKE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE FLAP CANT OPEN AND CLOSE. CHRYSLER SAID THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS NOT DUE TO THE CADILLAC CONVERTER BUT TEO AUTO MACANICA SAID IT WAS. THIS IS A $700 REPAIR DUE TO A RECALL! HAD BEEN DRIVING CAR AROUND TOWN ALL DAY. STOPPED TO TURN AND LOUD NOISE HAPPENED. LUCKLY COASTED TO BLOCKS TO HOUSE AND HAD TOW TRUCK TAKE TO REPAIR SHOP.

THIS MATERIAL/S IS A SANDY LIKE SUBSTANCE THAT BLOCKS CRITICAL COOLING AND HEATING COMPONENTS THAT HAS LEAD TO MAJOR FAILURES OF MY HEATING SYSTEM VIA THE DEBRIS BLOCKING THE HEATER CORE FROM FUNCTIONING. I CERTAIN THAT THIS DEBRIS IS ALSO AFFECTING MY ENGINE'S COOLING FUNCTION.

HEATER CORE FAILURE. NOTICED THE 2012 DODGE AVENGER PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT BLOWING HOT AIR. INSTEAD THE AIR WAS COMING OUT COLD NO MATTER HOW MUCH THE TEMPERATURE WAS ADJUSTED. EVEN AFTER DRIVING TO DESTINATIONS THE HEAT NEVER WORKED FO THE PASSENGER SIDE. ONLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE HOT AIR WORKS. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY DID A FLUSH 3 TIMES BECAUSE THEY SAID GUNK CAN SOMETIMES BUILD UP ON THOSE CARS IN PARTICULAR, HOWEVER IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE HEATER CORE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 63K MILES SO THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT A CAR WITH LOW MILEAGE SHOULD EXPERIENCE.
MY 2012 DODGE AVENGER CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FWY. I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR BECAUSE THE BRAKE BECAME LOCKED IN PLACE AND I COULDNT PRESS IT DOWN WITH MY FOOT. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DID NOT WORK. IT WAS UNSAFE TO GET OUT OF THE MOVING CAR, SO I WAS TRAPPED IN THE CAR AS THE FIRE UNDER THE HOOD GREW RAPIDLY. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND WITH QUICK THINKING, I USED THE CURB AT THE END OF THE FWY OFF RAMP TO HELP ME STOP THE CAR. WHEN FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED, THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY CAR WAS FULLY ENGULFED. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, CHRYSLER/DODGE HAS HAD REAPEATED COMPLAINTS REGARDING SIMILAR INCIDENTS.

I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE VEHICLE FLASHED THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR LIGHT ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 25MPH. BROUGHT TO DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY COULDN'T CHECK THE ETC LIGHT DUE TO IT SHUTTING OFF WITH RESTART OF THE VEHICLE BUT WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ALTERNATOR. FIXED THE ALTERNATOR AND NO PROBLEMS AGAIN UNTIL JANUARY 2019. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY AND THE CAR FLASHED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND DIED WHILE IN MOTION. POWER STEERING WAS VERY TIGHT BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. AFTER 4 TRIES OF RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, IT STARTED BACK UP BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. I WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP IN HOPES OF FINDING OUT WHAT IS WRONG, BUT AM NERVOUS BECAUSE OF WHAT I HAVE READ AMONGST OTHER AVENGER OWNERS.

THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THOSE OF US WHO LIVE IN STATES WHERE THE WINTER GETS BAD. WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER THE SNOW, ICE, OR SLEET WILL BEGIN TO ACCUMULATE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND PASSENGER WINDOW. THE SAD PART IS THAT THIS IS THE SECOND DODGE AVENGER I HAVE HAD WITH THIS ISSUE AND ON BOTH OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED BOTH TIMES BEFORE THIS HAS BECOME AN ISSUE. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS DEFECT AND FIX IT BEFORE IT CAUSES A DEATH. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY CASTING SAND THAT WAS IN THE ENGINE WHICH CAUSES THE RADIATOR, HEATER CORE, AND OIL COOLER TO PLUG UP. NOT A CHEAP FIX AND I HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS FROM MANY OTHERS WITH SAME ISSUE. MANUFACTURER AWARE OF PROBLEM.

LOSS OF HEAT ALSO EFFECTS THE ABILITY TO DE-ICE OR PREVENT ICE AND SNOW BUILD UP ON THE WINDSHIELD IN COLD WEATHER OPERATION. THIS CAN CREATE A HAZARDOUS CONDITION AS VISIBILITY IS GREATLY REDUCED. CHRYSLER GROUP LLC HAS NO CAUSE FOR THE SLUDGE FORMATION. THE ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR, OIL COOLER, HEATER CORE AND RADIATOR CAP AFTER COMPLETELY FLUSHING THE COOLING SYSTEM. I HAVE LOOKED AT OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME EXACT SITUATION AND HAVE COME TO FIND THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. MY PASSENGERS FREEZE AND THE FRONT WINDOW ONLY DEFROSTS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE AVERAGE COST TO REPAIR IS AROUND $1200 AND I DON'T THINK CAR OWNERS SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY ON AN ISSUE THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I WOULD THINK THAT IT WOULD CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE IF CERTAIN PARTS ARE NOT RECEIVING COOLANT.

HEATER NOT WORKING. (87,000 MILES) TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $2500 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE COOLANT SYSTEM (HEATER CORE, RADIATOR, OIL COOLER, THERMOSTAT, WATER PUMP). THE TECH ADVISED THERE WAS SOMETHING RESTRICTING FLOW THROUGH THE HEATER CORE. THERE IS A 100,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY ON THE CAR BUT THEY DO NOT AGREE THAT THE COOLANT SYSTEM THAT COOLS THE ENGINE (POWER TRAIN) SHOULD BE INCLUDED. WHERE DID THE SEDIMENT/SLUDGE COME FROM? POSSIBLY OIL CONTAMINATION FROM THE ENGINE (POWER TRAIN)? THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN NOTED IN NUMEROUS MODELS AND DODGE HAS RELEASED A STATEMENT TO THEIR TECHS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE COOLANT SYSTEM BECAUSE THEY KNOW SOMETHING THEY DID IS WRONG. THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEM GM HAD WITH DEX-COOL WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE BURDENED WITH THE FAILURES OF THE MANUFACTURER TO PROVIDE A QUALITY PRODUCT. I HOPE THIS MATTER IS TAKEN SERIOUSLY AS IT TRULY IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF THE HEAT DOES NOT WORK IT IS NOT JUST UNCOMFORTABLE FOR THE DRIVER/PASSENGERS BUT IT WILL ALSO REDUCE VISIBILITY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD SINCE THE DEFROST/HEAT DOES NOT WORK.

THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED BECAUSE MY ENGINE TURNED OFF AS WELL AS THE DASHBOARD COMPLETELY WENT DARK TO INCLUDE HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, AND THE HAZARD LIGHTS. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BUT I AM STILL AFRAID TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING EITHER ON THE HIGHWAY, INTERSTATE, OR ON ANY STREET. TOTAL COST INCLUDING LABOR TO REPLACE SENSOR WAS $224. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THANKFULLY MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE HAVE RAN UPDATES, YET THE NOISES ARE STILL THERE. I MENTIONED THAT AT IDLE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON, IF I WAS TO POWER ANY OF THE WINDOWS, THE HEADLIGHTS DIM AND THEN ENGINE DROPS FROM APPROXIMATELY 950 RPM TO BELOW 500 AND STALLED THE ENGINE. ...
