Both head rest which is attached to airbags or have airbags in them I don’t know but the exploded open. Headrest could have exploded while someone was in the seat and got head injuries. No problem has not been confirmed by anyone but myself,husband and self employed mechanic, I didn’t know what to do. No, no type of warning before it happen. Passenger one exploded January 2025, driver exploded about May 2025.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V282000 (Electrical System, Air Bags); and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

I was driving my car and the active headrests on the driver side and passenger side both deployed prematurely. I wasn't in any collisions and the headrests deployed. It was very unexpected when they went off as i was driving to school it put both my safety and my sisters safety at risk when they deployed. As stated previously i am unsure as to why they went off as i was never involved in any collisions. There were no warning lamps or any messages prior to them deploying.
The TIPM failed causing the car to shut off and not start again. The problem has been confirmed by Upstate Auto. There was a recall on the TIPM but it was not replaced instead some occupant restraints were replaced instead and now the manufacturer does not make the TIPM part anymore.
The headrest in front passenger side made a loud noise and opened. It's scared me, because I had no clue what the noise was from at the time. It was night time and all I can say is thank God no other cars were near me...I probably would have wrecked. I'm very thankful that my son was not sitting there when it happened. There were no lights or warnings and I never knew that could happen let alone know the headrests could pop open. The vehicle has not been looked at our inspected. I seen there was a recall on this but after entering my Vin, it says this car has no active recalls.
My husband a I were driving down the highway and all of a sudden a loud sound a bam the air bag in the passenger seat blew open and dang near gave my husband whiplash. Also I have had the thermostat replaced 3 times in 2 years and the car is still overheating. The ABS sensor will not go off and its like the emergency brake is stuck. I can be driving and when I try to stop it is like its locking up.

3/24/2022, Mileage 102742. Airbag light intermittently turns on and off.
Purchased this car 3 yrs a go about 2 weeks ago the airbag light remains on constantly the car was parked but remains on constantly. The car has 107K I search for recall on this site and nothing even though there are over 485 complaints for the same issue. What does it take to get this NOTICED by MOPAR this is obviously a safety hazard. I bet if one of MOPAR's dependents was driving a 2013 Dodge Avenger they would get it fixed TODAY for free via a recall are you listening MOPAR??? I am sure you read these complaints. I will contact a Chrysler dealer in the area and see if they will do the right thing and fix this safety issue for free but after reading all these complaints looks like a losing battle. MOPAR is you want to have customers buy your cars do the right thing a get a recall out on this airbag issue.
The air bag light turns on and off while driving, along with a ding, indicating that there is a problem with the air bag.

LOCAL DEALERSHIP ADVISED THIS IS NOT UNDER A RECALL SO IT WOULD BE SOMETHING WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR. ESTIMATE WAS CLOSE TO $3,000. THAT IS ABSURD WHEN IT IS A DEFECT AND NOT SOMETHING THAT I CAUSED.

I HAD THE ORC REPLACED AS PART OF SAFETY RECALL S61, HOWEVER THE VEHICLES SAFETY IS REDUCED BECAUSE THE HEADRESTS WILL NOT STAY LOCKED IN DUE TO BROKEN PLASTIC LOCKS WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO HOLD IT BACK. APPARENTLY THE HEADRESTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AS IT CURRENTLY STANDS. THE CAR IS UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE, AND IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, THE HEADRESTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DEPLOY SINCE THEY ARE NOW PERMANENTLY DEPLOYED. I THOUGHT THE HEADRESTS WERE ALREADY COVERED BY THE PREVIOUS RECALL, WHICH IS WHY I AM FILING NOW.

THE AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF. A FEW TIMES I WOULD UNDO MY SEATBELT AND THEN SECURE IT AGAIN AND IT WOULD GO OFF. BUT IT COMES BACK ON AGAIN. BRAKES: I HAVE HAD ALL 4 BRAKES REPLACED AND MY BRAKES STILL SQUEAK AND THEY GRIND. IVE HAD THIS DONE TWICE AND IT DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE. IT MAKES A RATTLING SOUND WHEN GOING UPHILL. 8-21-2017 HAD A RECALL PREFORMED FOR A AIRBAG ISSUE. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS DONE THERE WAS STILL A CODE IN THE SYSTEM FOR THE DRIVER ACTIVE HEADREST CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN. I HAD ALREADY INVESTIGATED THE AIRBAG LIGHT ( MARCH 2017) AND FOUND MANY SITES STATING A BROKEN WIRE IN DRIVERS SEAT. WHEN I GOT THE CAR HOME I FINALLY INVESTIGATE THE WIRE ISSUE AND FOUND THE BLACK WIRE APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES BEFORE A YELLOW CONNECTOR WHERE A PLASTIC STRETCHER WAS APPLIED BROKEN INSIDE THE FIBER COVERING OF THE 2 WIRES. I WAS A MECHANIC FOR 30 YEARS SO I STRIPPED THE WIRES AND REATTACHED. THE LIGHT IS STILL ON SO I AM THINKING WHEN IT BROKE OR WHAT EVER IT CAUSED A SYSTEM ISSUE AND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY CHRYSLER AT NO CHARGE. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN ONE OF THE BEST CHRYSLER PRODUCTS I HAVE OWNED. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID IT COULD COST AROUND 400 TO FIX.

DEALERSHIP DID TRAN OVERHAUL. 7/29 AGAIN! ON FREEWAY COMPLETE SHUT DOWN OF ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL AND COASTED OFF FREEWAY RAMP. GLAD WE DID NOT GET KILLED. DEALERSHIP SAID FIXED ISSUE. MY SON NOR I WILL DRIVE IT ANY LONGER. OTHER ISSUE WAS AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ON 2ND DEALERSHIP SAID AIRBAGS MAY NOT WORK. GLAD NO ACCIDENTS OCCURRED.

THIS WEEK, MY AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN TO BLINK INTERMITTENTLY, USUALLY WHEN ACCELERATING. AFTER A DAY, THE LIGHT CAME TO BE ON CONTINUOUSLY. I GOT THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP ON SATURDAY AND WAS INFORMED THE ACTIVE HEADREST ON THE DRIVER SIDE HAD AN OPEN CIRCUIT AND THAT THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS DISABLED UNTIL WE CAN REPLACE THE CURRENTLY BACKORDERED PART AT A COST OF ~$300 PLUS LABOR. THIS IS A PART THAT WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL FOR MY MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR FOR THE ACTIVE HEADREST, BUT MY VIN DOES NOT SEEM TO BE INCLUDED. AT THIS TIME, I AM DRIVING OVER 100 MILES A DAY WITH NO AIRBAGS IN A 3 YEAR OLD CAR. IT IS NOT SAFE AND IT IS A PART THAT APPARENTLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. A PART THAT IS NEVER USED IN A 3 YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD NOT FAIL AND DEFINITELY NOT DO SO IN SUCH A CRITICAL SYSTEM. CHRYSLER TOLD ME THEY'D ADD MY VEHICLE TO A LIST FOR REVIEW AND LET ME KNOW IF THEY'LL COVER THE PART OR NOT. MEANWHILE, MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WON'T COVER IT BECAUSE THEY FEEL AS I DO THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD.

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED WHIPLASH ALONG WITH A HEAD INJURY FROM STRIKING THE GLASS. THE GLASS SHATTERED AND IMPACTED THE DRIVER. THE FRONT PASSENGER AND OTHER THREE PASSENGERS SUFFERED WHIPLASH AND ONE OF THE PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEAT URINATED BLOOD DUE TO THE INJURIES. THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGERS RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V282000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE WAS NOT INVESTIGATED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS LESS THAN 30,000.

ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS AND THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG DEPLOYED. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON THE DRIVER SIDE OR FROM THE DASH OR STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT, SIDES AND TOP. I HAD JUST MERGED ONTO 69 HEADING HOME FROM SCHOOL. IT WAS AROUND 930PM. I START TO PICK UP SPEED TO BLEND IN WITH TRAFFIC. THERE WAS A THREE CAR ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED SO WE ALL SLAMMED ON OUR BRAKES TO AVOID FROM HITTING IT. UNFORTUNATELY I HIT THE BACK OF A FLATBED TOW TRUCK GOING BETWEEN 45-50MPH.
