The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the interior light turned on independently, the control panel started blinking, and the radio became inoperable. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was steered into a parking lot, where it was turned off but failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with an electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. 2 days after purchasing my vehicle I was driving getting my speed up approximately 45 mph when the vehicle started to lunge forward and nothing was under the gas pedal and it stalled. I pulled it over to the side of the road. It started back up within 2 to 3 minutes. Drove fine for about another 20-25 minutes and then did it again. I put fuel treatment in it. It seemed to drive better the next day but then I did it again. I had it towed to a service department where they did a complete vehicle inspection- no codes were thrown $2500 later- picked up vehicle and later that evening it starts blowing smoke out from under the dash- Towed back to Service department- $300 later- pick car up and she breaks down within 10 minutes- TOWED AGAIN- ,$450 later ---- the vehicle loses all connection and stalls while going 45 to 70 mph- without warning - on the interstate- UNSAFE for EVERYONE on the road not just the dumb owner. WHY IS MY VIN NUMBER NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY OF THE 5 RECALLS? 3 OF WHICH ARE DEALING WITH THE EXACT ISSUES I AM HAVING!!! I have spent every last penny I have on this and still ... Safety Hazard

The TIPM failed causing the car to shut off and not start again. The problem has been confirmed by Upstate Auto. There was a recall on the TIPM but it was not replaced instead some occupant restraints were replaced instead and now the manufacturer does not make the TIPM part anymore.

I urgently need your assistance regarding a critical and unsafe situation concerning the PCM/ECU. Recently, while driving, my car began to shudder as if it was on the verge of stalling. To add to the alarming situation, every warning light on the dashboard illuminated. The speedometer and thermostat suddenly stopped functioning, leaving me without crucial information about the vehicle's speed and temperature. This not only compromised my safety but also made it impossible to gauge the car's performance. In response to this hazardous scenario, I immediately pulled over to a stop. Sadly, the car shut off, and despite my attempts, it has refused to restart ever since. The inability to restart presents a severe safety issue and has left me stranded without transportation. Compounding this ordeal, several auto shops have tried to address the PCM/ECU connectivity issues with no success. This recurring problem, combined with the recent dangerous episode on the road, underscores the urgency for resolution. I am deeply concerned about the potential risks posed by the malfunctioning PCM/ECU and the compromised safety of both myself and others on the road. The inability to accurately monitor speed and temperature could have dire consequences if left unaddressed.

The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the Total Integrated Power Module (TIPM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

The throttle body system keeps failing and causing my ETC light to come on. This causes the car to lose speed and almost stalling while driving. Thus happens out if no where and while driving the car will automatically slow down on it own and won't let me accelerate which is very dangerous when driving on the highway or trying to make a turn and your car stops accelerating. I have had the throttle body replaced multiple times and it never resolves the issue.

There are days the car will not start. The engine will try and turn over but never starts. (2) There have been several times while driving the car that the car will just turn off while driving. The car is very difficult to steer to pull it off the road for safety. The car will leave me stranded for at least an hour before it will start again. (3) The heat on the passenger side only blows out cold air. There is no heat on that side. (4) The car will start clicking in the dashboard for no apparent reason. This is baffling cause I have no idea what it is or what it is trying to do.

Engine stalls when driving without warning due to a faulty Totally integrated power module which also causes a host of other electrical failures such as headlights not turning off, passenger window not rowing down, heat only working on high setting, windshield wipers going haywire, radio volume disappearing off the display and not working then reappearing and a total power dim and then surge while driving. This is the most dangerous car I’ve ever been in, and I’m disgusted to see that NHTSA already knows about these faulty units and Chrysler has already had lawsuits and recalls on these TIPM units in the Cherokees and Durangos.

Shortly after the failure, the contact noticed that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. On Monday, July 19, 2021, the car started randomly blowing the horn while I was driving to work. When I arrived in my parking garage and turned the car off, the alarm system started going crazy with flashers and horn going off like mad. It only stopped when I opened the hood and slammed it shut - not really sure that's what stopped it, but I didn't know what else to do. Random horn beeping continued on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, no horn beeping, but the MOTOR SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE BALTIMORE BELTWAY. I was lucky to be able to get the car off the road and onto the shoulder. I'm now afraid to drive it. Car has been at the mechanic all day Thursday, July 22 and today, Friday 23, 2021. The mechanic recommended I take the car to the dealer, but I was advised by the dealer that the part (the TIPM) is no longer available through Mopar. So now the mechanic is trying to figure out what to do.

Under the hood there’s electric tape holding wires together. Which is illegal. The check engine light came on since I got the car. IN JANUARY 2020 MY 2013 DODGE AVENGER BEGAN TO HAVE ISSUES THAT RESULTED IN IT STRANDING ME AT VARIOUS TIMES, I HAD THE CAR TOWED AND ASSESSES IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY WAS BAD WAS THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED ( LAST REPLACED 2 YEARS PRIOR) THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME AND ALMOST 1 WEEK LATER I WAS AGAIN STRANDED WITH A CAR THAT WOULD NOT START AND SO I HAD IT TOWED AND ASSESSED AND THIS TIME IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR , I HAD IT REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO ME THE VEHICLE SEEMED FINE FOR 2 WEEKS WHEN SUDDENLY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING OR WOULD WORK INTERMITTENLY, THE AC OR HEATER WOULD WORK INTERMITTENLY, THE CAR HORN AND ALARM STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD GO OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL IF THE HEATER WAS ON WHILE DRIVING AND THE ALARM WOULD GO OFF IF IT STALLED, FINALLY I CALLED DODGE AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN, THEY WOULD FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT I TOLD THEM FROM WHAT I HAD READ IT SEEMD THE ISSUE WAS THE TIPM, 3 DAYS LATER I GET A CALL THAT IT IS THE TIPM AND THAT THEY WILL ALSO NEED TO REMOVE THE ALARM AND THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST OVER 1900.00 AND WHEN THE CAR IS BACK IT WILL NO LONGER HAVE AN ALARM THOUGH I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH AN ALARM ON THE SHOW FLOOR IT WOULD BE ADDITIONAL COST TO HAVE A NEW ALARM INSTALLED. I HAVE READ THAT THIS ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND DODGE CONTINUES TO IGNORE HOW DANGEROUS THIS IS. THE TIMES THE VEHICLE STALLED I WAS DRIVING, AND COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT HAD I NOT REACTED QUICKLY AND RECOGNIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEATER'S CHORD WAS BLOCKED WITH SAND THAT LEAKED FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

NO WARNING LIGHTS OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS TURN ON. NO CODES ARE FOUND WHEN SCANNING THE OBD2. THERE ARE NO RECORDED MISS FIRES FOR ANY OF THE CYLINDERS EITHER. THIS IS AN ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION SPECIFICALLY WHEN DRIVING FULL SPEED ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS OR ROADS. WHEN THE ENGINE STALLS, POWER STEERING CUTS OUT AND I HAVE TO MUSCLE THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND START IT UP AGAIN. THE ENGINE HAS STALLED WHILE GOING IN REVERSE, DRIVING FORWARD, AND SITTING IDLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER A DOZEN TIMES NOW.

ONCE I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN, AND IT WENT OFF FOR ABOUT 8 SECONDS AND AT THE SAME TIME MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED TO STALL AND NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE HORN DOES NOT WORK WHEN I PUSH ON IT LIKE IT SHOULD. IT IS VERY CONCERNING SINCE IT CAN CAUSE SAFETY ISSUES.

MY CAR BEGAN CLICKING, APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS AT A TIME, LATE WINTER EARLY SPRING 2018-2019 WHEN THE HEAT WAS TURNED ON. I CAME TO REALIZE THE CAR DID NOT NEED TO BE RUNNING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. DURING AN OIL CHANGE THE FOLLOWING WEEK I WAS TOLD THE CLICKING HAD TO DO WITH THE VENTS AND HOW COMMON THIS CLICKING WAS AND THAT REPAIR EAS NOT GUARANTEED. AS I AM THE PRIMARY PERSON/OCCUPANT IN MY CAR, I FOUND OUT LATER THE HEAT ONLY PRODUCED WARM AIR. THIS IS MY 1ST TIME OWNING A DODGE AND EVERYDAY MY EXPERIENCES WITH THIS CAR REAFFIRMS I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER. I MAKE IT A POINT TO TELL ANY AND EVERYONE THIS FACT. I HAVE COPIED SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS LOGGED ABOUT THIS AND MY OTHER ISSUE, CAR STALLING WHILE TURNING LEFT TO ENTER THE FREEWAY WITH THROTTLE INDICATOR. I WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ALONE AND FEMALE UNTIL TOW ARRIVED AT 9PM AND THE COST FOR AN ALTERNATOR WHICH AFTER READING THIS MAY NOT BE THE ISSUE.... I'VE HAD A FEW ISSUES RECENTLY WITH MY 2013 DODGE AVENGER OVER THE PAST YEAR. WHEN MY CHANGE OIL WARNING INDICATOR COMES ON, SOME OF MY WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS RANDOMLY COME ON AS WELL. THE FIRST FEW TIMES MY AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR FOR THE OIL CHANGE I ASKED THEM CHECK THE AIRBAGS BUT THERE WAS NOTHING INDICATING A PROBLEM AND ONCE THE OIL WAS CHANGED THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF AND STAY OFF. THE NEXT TIME IT WAS THE ABS & THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM; I GOT THE OIL CHANGED THEY CHECKED, NOTHING WAS FOUND AGAIN. BEFORE THIS LAST TIME, MY OIL WARNING CAME ON ALONG WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT, AS IF THE BRAKE WAS UP AND IT STAYED ON EVEN WHEN I DROVE, AGAIN NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. LAST NIGHT (5/09/18) CHANGE OIL WARNING INDICATOR CAME ON. THIS MORNING (5/10/18) I STARTED MY CAR (AUTOMATIC CAR STARTER) WENT OUT TO MY CAR AND MY TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT AND MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WERE LIT. I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, HOWEVER THE CAR WOULDN'T SHUT OFF RIGHT AWAY. WHEN I RESTARTED MY CAR THE LIGHT INDICATORS WERE GONE. BUT WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IF I WERE TO STOP AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN MY CAR WOULD IDLE AND FEEL AS THOUGH IT WAS ABOUT TO SHUT DOWN SO I HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK WHILE STOPPED. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC) INDICATOR LIGHT AND THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) WERE BOTH ILLUMINATED FOR EVERY FAILED ATTEMPT. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF ACCOMPANIED BY A CLICKING SOUND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE ENGINE. THE ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION WAS HUMID AND COOL. THERE WAS CONDENSATION PRESENT ON THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL HOURS LATER, ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE. IT HAD A WEAK IGNITION WITH THE INSTRUMENTS LIGHTS BRIEFLY DIMMING, BUT THE ENGINE STARTED. ATTEMPTED ADDITIONAL START-UP CYCLES TO CHECK IF THE ENGINE WOULD START AGAIN. THE ENGINE STARTED EACH TIME. THE ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION DURING THE SECOND SET OF START-UP ATTEMPTS WAS WARM AND HUMID. NO CONDENSATION WAS PRESENT ON THE VEHICLE.

ALSO, BEFORE I HAD THE DEALERSHIP DISCONNECT MY HORN, IT WOULD RANDOMLY BLARE. SITTING IN TRAFFIC AND IT WOULD GO OFF. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BEEP ONCE, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD LAST ANYWHERE FROM 2-10 MINUTES. TURNING THE CAR OFF WOULDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, IT WOULD ACTUALLY CONTINUE.
