1991 DODGE CARAVAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM RECALL AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE PAID FOR THE REPAIRS ON APRIL 20, 2006 AND WAS CHARGED $376.73, EVEN THOUGH A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED ABS PROBLEMS AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2013. THE CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL LETTER STATED IF THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN, CHRYSLER WOULD COVER ANY REPAIRS. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, HE HAD TO PAY $112 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WOULD BE COVERED, UNDER THE RECALL. THE DEALER THEN INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO TEST HIS VEHICLE, DUE TO THE AGE. HOWEVER, A FEW DAYS LATER, THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THEY HAD THE EQUIPMENT, BUT IT WOULD COST $336. THE CONSUMER DECLINED THE TEST. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION, STARTER, FUEL PUMP, IGNITION COIL BLOCKS , SERPENTINE BELT, PULLEYS, POWER STEERING PUMP, AND RADIATOR WERE ALL REPLACED. *JB UPDATED 04/16/14

POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE A MORE COMPACT OIL PAN THAT IS FARTHER FROM THE GROUND . *AK OTHER NOTED PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL CARAVAN INSOFENT BACK UP LIGHTS CAUSE PROBLEMS BACKING UP THE VEICLE IN THE EVENING HOURS IN LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS . BLINKER SWITCH FAILER DUE TO PORIS PLASTIC CAUSE THE BLINKER SWITCH TO BREAK OFF AT THE STEARING COLUM . OTHER COMPLAINTS : BOTH PASSANGER AND DRIVER SIDE DOORS WEAK HINGES CAUSE HAZARDUS SEPARATION OF THE HINDGE FROM THE DOOR ITSELF COULD CAUSE THE DOOR TO SIMPLY FALL OFF THE CAR .

BOLT THAT HOLDS TENSIONER BROKE, CAUSING IT TO SEPARATE FROM VEHICLE, AND RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. OWNER REPLACED THE PART THREE TIMES. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT WEBSITE SHOWS THIS FAILURE HAPPENING FREQUENTLY. *SLC
WHILE TRAVELING DRIVER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM ENGINE. UPON VISUAL INSPECTION ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. INSURENCE COMPANY TOTALED VEHICLE.*AK
INTERMITTENT STALLING AFTER WHICH IT SOMETIMES STARTS, SOMETIMES NOT. STALLS GOING DOWN THE ROAD, STALLS WAITING IN TRAFFIC, WON'T START AFTER SITTING FOR 1 HOUR BUT STARTS SOMETIMES AFTER SITTING FOR 2 MINUTES! RUNS ROUGH (IS NOT MISSING). REPLACED 4 O2 SENSORS, CAT, MUFFLER, OIL, ALL BELTS, BRAKES, DISTRIBUTOR CAP, SPART PLUGS. I HAVE HAD IT WITH THIS VAN MADE IN CANADA! THIS WAS A REPLACEMENT FOR THE 86 CARAVAN I HAD BUT LOST TO A DRUNK DRIVER! HELP!!!!!! *AK
DIGITAL SENSOR FAILURE FOR CRUISE CONTROL AND SPEEDOMETER, REPLACED AND WORKS FOR ONLY 8-9 MONTHS, BECOMES ERRATIC AND FINALLY STOPS WORKING. *MJS

WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE IS SHUTTING DOWN AND STALLING, AND THERE IS SOME TYPE OF KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND COMING TO A STOP, WHEN PULLING OUT THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING AND THE CONSUMER HAS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE.
WHEN DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL WILL STICK AND MAKE A LOUD NOISE WHEN TURNING EITHER WAY. WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE KEPT ON ROLLING. ALSO, MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO MOVE INCHES LIKE THE ENGINE IS ABOUT TO DROP ON THE GROUND. *AK

WHEN BRAKING THERE IS NO BRAKING ABILITY. *AK THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDS MUICH FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE ABS UNIT MAKES A GRINDING NOIS. THE CONSUMER HAD RECEIVED RECALL NOTIC BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT NEED SERVICE AT THE TIME. HOWEVER, THE RECALL PROBLEM OCCURED AFTER RECALL HAD EXPIRED. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. *YH
