Was driving and a tick was present then over heated sat on side of road until cooled down added coolant drove home . The next day car was drivable. Drove to school and car was sounding funny so took it to a repair shop and they told me the particular engine in the vehicle has a fuel efficient component where it shuts down the cylinders on the freeway, and the lifters are supposed to open, but our lifter did not open. It got stuck and grind the camshaft in the motor. Needless to say I had to have the car towed home. It’s just sitting in my parking lot. I tried calling Dodge. They wouldn’t help me. I tried calling multiple agencies to help. I looked up on the Internet and there is multiple complaints about the same problem it’s called the hemi lift so hopefully one day this can be recalled because I’m still paying on the car. I had a year and a half. No one will help me. My kids were driving the car. What if the thing blew up on them on the freeway and somebody hit them because Car wouldn’t move anymore . Or if they were taking the car through the desert and there is no phone calls and no one around. If they were going around corners of a mountain and just stopped on them or blew up because can’t drive the car anymore. very bad and scary and sad that the builder of that motor won’t fix their mistake and leave countless people stranded and in a predicament

I need to address a serious issue regarding the car I purchased in 2020 from a private vendor. Upon taking the car to Crown Dodge Dealership in Ventura County for repair, I had to pay roughly $700 out of pocket for the service and rented a car from Hertz for the days I was without my car. However, upon receiving the car back, it still had unresolved issues with the electrical components and dashboard noise. It is unacceptable that the manager at the dealership did not prioritize my safety or the quality of the car I purchased. Since this car is my sole mode of transportation, I demand a prompt resolution to this matter. I expect immediate assistance in addressing these concerns. Thank you.

I experienced a catastrophic timing chain failure despite prior recall work being performed by Dodge that supposedly resolved their known timing chain issues with the 5.7L hemi with automatic transmission. This failure occurred without any prior warning at a cruising speed of about 65 MPH rendering the car undrivable. There were no warning lights, drivability issues, or signs of the impending failure. This is a well-maintained car with only 80,000 miles, never missing a required oil change and other maintenance tasks. Timing chains should not fail at such low milage - indeed, timing belts will last longer before they fail. This failure occurred on a major highway placing me and other motorists in danger from the car being unmovable and potentially causing a high-speed collision on a 70 MPH highway. If this had occurred less than 0.5 miles down the road, both shoulders of the roadway were closed due to road widening construction. A certified letter with pictures of the timing chain and timing chain guide failures with a receipt for associated repairs was sent the to the manufacturer in December 2023 but they have not given me the courtesy of a reply. The engine was replaced by an independent mechanic at an out-of-pocket cost of $13,217.38 and the pictures were taken at that time by the repair shop.

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. Additionally, the low engine oil warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had reoccurred approximately three or four times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The Gen III hemi has an inherent design flaw in which the rollers making contact with the camshaft will fail, causing damage to the camshaft and causing the engine to misfire. This is due to the camshaft being moved away from the crankshaft as it causes oil starvation. After extensive research it appears to affect cars of various miles and workload. There is no single cause that makes this happen other than a grievous design flaw. The main complaint is that you experience total power loss at higher revs, making it dangerous to drive on the interstate or attempting to merge into traffics as the engine begins to shudder and lose most power. Whether it’s 40K miles or 110K miles, the flaw does not discriminate. After numerous attempts to reach Chrysler technical service on how to prevent this, I’ve been ignored and case numbers deleted. Now this is very important. This causes a misfire which not only destroys catalytic converters, but arrives with no notice. It’s very possible someone may be attempting to pass someone on the interstate and suddenly lose power. My mechanic inspected it and confirmed that the rollers failed, causing causing lifters to not make proper clearance. This needs to be investigated as this engine is in millions of cars. And even if 1% of these failure occur on an interstate, the potential for fatalities is absolutely nothing to ignore. I kindly ask that this matter be investigated. As not everyone can afford the 5K to fix this problem like I can. And due to its high prevalence in trucks, this could cause those who use their trucks for work to be put in a tight spot. I understand normal wear and tear, but by no means should a cam and valve train fail this soon in a car. Giving the Gen III hemi by Chrysler and their infamous timing chain defect, I believe this is also a dangerous flaw and something Chrysler ignored. Hoping it would outlast warranties. Best regards.

The car has an intermittent issue where at highway speeds it will go into almost a limp mode. Basically the check engine light comes on and car loses power and won't go over 45 mph. I have to pull over and shut car off. It will restart and operate normally for a random period of time. Very dangerous when on the highway and have to pull over to the side of the road. From the forums I belong to, this is a very common problem. There are even members that have bought a brand new Challenger and had this happen to them after a few months. The code that usually appears from this is misfire on cylinder 1 and even the dealerships don't know what causes it and hard to diagnose since it happens randomly. Love the car but very annoyed that this keeps happening and no one can figure out the fix

A RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN 2015 REGARDING A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. THIS CAR SAT IN A DEALER LOT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND RARELY DRIVE IT. A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE STALLED ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. A CHRONIC ISSUE ACCORDING TO MOST FORUMS, EVEN AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 73,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED REGARDLESS OF MONTHS,OF THE FACT THAT IT WAS MORE THAN 24 MONTHS. IT IS A VERY LOW MILEAGE CAR FOR THE YEAR AND THIS IS ON ONGOING ISSUE FROM THESE VEHICLES FROM 2009-2012.

DURING ITS MOST RECENT SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE ON MAY 25, 2018, THE DODGE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT MY 2010 CHALLENGER SRT8 WITH 56,000 MILES HAS AN OIL LEAK THAT IS LEAKING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CRANKSHAFT AND THE DODGE CHALLENGER SERPENTINE/DRIVE BELT IS SPRAYING OIL ALL OVER THE PLACE UNDER THE HOOD, ON THE ENGINE AND DIRECTLY INTO THE ALTERNATOR WHICH THE DODGE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED COULD CAUSE A FIRE! I CONTACTED FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES CUSTOMER CARE (CASE NUMBER 34409843) AND PROVIDED DETAIL WITH AFTER 5 CUSTOMER CARE AGENTS ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS PROMISING ME A CALLBACK (NEVER RECEIVED) WISHED ME GOOD LUCK WITH HAVING DODGE ADDRESS THE ENGINE OIL LEAK / FIRE HAZARD. MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT8 COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND I LOSE POWER STEERING. IT DOES THIS REPEATEDLY WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WORK WHEN THIS HAPPENS BUT THE POWER STEERING MAKES IT VERY HARD TO TURN THE VEHICLE WHICH MAKES IT VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC OR ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK PRESS MY IGNITION START BUTTON TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY TO THE OFF POSITION AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATE AFTER THIS HAPPENS SO THE DODGE DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED MY ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED AND MY ESP, TRACTION CONTROL AND ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WAS DISABLED AND HASN'T BEEN ENABLED. AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE ESP, TC AND ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATE AND STAY ON. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DODGE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE ARE NO TROUBLE CODES OR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE THAT THOUSANDS OF OWNERS OF DODGE CHALLENGERS ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THE SAME RESULT THAT THE DODGE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS CAN NOT FIND OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS RANDOM ENGINE SHUT OFF HAS HAPPENED AROUND 40 TIMES. IT'S HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY IN MOTION AT SPEEDS OF 75 MPH ON THE CITY STREET FROM 30-50 MPH AND WHEN LEAVING AN INTERSECTION AFTER THE STOP LIGHT TURNS GREEN LEAVING ME STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION IN DANGER OF BIENG HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE TURNING IN A INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE STOPPING WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC HEADING TOWARDS MY VEHICLE. I HAVE NEARLY BEEN HIT NUMEROUS TIMES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE PROOF OF MY VEHICLE TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITH NO LUCK AS TO WHAT THE DANGEROUS PROBLEM IS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THERMOSTAT FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ANTI FREEZE LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE RADIATOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED, AND THE GAUGE FLUCTUATED RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,200.

MY 5.7-LITER HEMI ENGINE HESITATED SIX TIMES AND THE ENGINE COMPUTER REGISTERED THIS MALFUNCTION EACH TIME, BUT NEVER SET A CODE WHICH THE DEALER MECHANICS COULD READ TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. EACH MALFUNCTION CORRECTED ITSELF IN A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE LAST HESITATION WAS A STRONG ONE DURING WHICH THE ENGINE RAN VERY ROUGHLY FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES BEFORE RUNNING SMOOTHLY AGAIN. IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS MISFIRING ON ONE OR MORE CYLINDERS. EACH MALFUNCTION HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PASSING OTHER VEHICLES IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A HIGHWAY WITH THE ENGINE UNDER ACCELERATION LOAD. WHEN I EASED OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE HESITATION DISAPPEARED AND I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE EACH VEHICLE PASS, BUT EACH PASS THUS TOOK LONGER AND PUT ME MORE AT POTENTIAL RISK OF COLLIDING WITH ONCOMING VEHICLES. THE LAST STRONG HESITATION FORCED ME TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER AND WAIT UNTIL THE ENGINE CORRECTED ITSELF IN ABOUT TWO MINUTES. THIS HESITATION HAPPENS RARELY AND THE ENGINE HAS CONTINUED TO RUN SMOOTHLY SINCE THE LAST STRONG EVENT. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM RESIDES INSIDE THE ENGINE OR WITHIN THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION. I HAVE A SIX-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND CRUISE CONTROL ON THIS CAR.

TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND IT TOOK 3 WEEKS OF THEM NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS WRONG AFTER I SUGGESTED TIMING CHAIN SEVERAL TIMES. THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW BATTER, CHARGED ME $230 FOR A BATTERY I DID NOT NEED . FINALLY THEY REALIZED 6 OUT OF 8 HEADS WERE BENT AND TIMING CHAIN BROKE. NOW WHEN I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR IT SOUNDS LIKE 10 SPEED BICYCLE WHEN PEDDLING BACKWARDS. I AM SCARE TO TAKE IT BACK SINCE IT TOOK 5 WEEKS LAST TIME.

WHEN I PICKED UP MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT A WEEK LATER THE CHECK ENGINE WAS STILL ON AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO DIAGNOSE IT FURTHER. THE NEXT DAY THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THE MDS SOLENOID WIRING TO THE MAIN HARNESS HAD MELTED AND THAT THE ENGINE HARNESS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY OR MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT IT WOULD BE $2000 OUT OF POCKET TO ME. TRAVELING UPHILL-SLIGHT INCLINE- AT APPROX. 55 MPH ON CANYON ROAD WHEN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, FLASHED. THEN ALL DASH LIGHT INDICATORS CAME ON AS ENGINE FAILED. I WAS COMMUTING TO WORK ON THE WESTPARK TOLLWAY IN HOUSTON IN TRAFFIC AT APPROXIMATELY 7:00AM WHEN MULTIPLE ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE, AVOIDING A COLLISION BARELY AS ALL SYSTEMS WERE DEAD. AFTER 4 DAYS IN THE SHOP IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE WHICH IN TURN CAUSED A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE, BENT VALVES, DAMAGED PISTONS ETC. UPON SEARCHING THE WEB I FOUND 39 INSTANCES OF THIS FAILURE ON ONE FORUM. PARTICULARLY MODEL YEARS 2009 TO 2011 AND CARS WITH 35 TO 40,000 MILES AND MDS. MINE HAS 44,000 AND ALL FACTORY MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN FOLLOWED. THIS IS PARTICULARLY TROUBLESOME AS SHOULD THIS EVENT HAPPEN IN A HEAVY TRAFFIC OR PASSING SITUATION THERE COULD BE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS ONE HAS NO POWER TO DO ANYTHING. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH WHEN A SMALL POP WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE BAY. THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND I LOST ALL POWER TO THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE WITHOUT INCIDENT. I TRIED RESTARTING THE ENGINE, WHICH JUST CAUSED THE STARTER TO RUN FOR 5+ SECONDS BEFORE TURNING OFF THE START SEQUENCE (PUSH BUTTON START). THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CAUSE HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE A SNAPPED TIMING CHAIN AND BROKEN PLASTIC CHAIN GUIDE. THIS IS A 2010 5.7L MDS AUTO TRANSMISSION CHALLENGER. DODGE'S RESPONSE IS TO REPLACE THE CHAIN AND GUIDE AND SEE IF THAT ENABLES THE ENGINE TO RUN. THIS IS AN INTERFERENCE FIT ENGINE WHICH WILL MEAN SEVERAL VALVES WILL HAVE STRUCK THE PISTON HEADS AS A RESULT OF THE TIMING CHAIN BREAKING. IN ADDITION, THE VALVE HEADS AND PISTON HEADS MAY HAVE SUSTAIN ADDITIONAL DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP HAD RECOMMENDED TO DODGE A COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. IF CHRYSLER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR, THEY WOULD REMEMBER IT FROM 3 DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED IT FROM WESTPOINTE DODGE IN OKLAHOMA. I HAD PROBLEMS FROM DAY ONE, MAINLY FROM THE LIES I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP, I BOUGHT IT NEW! I WAS TOLD OF ALL THE EXTRAS ON THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING A NAVAGATION SYSTEM, I TRIED TO GET THE NAVAGATION SYSTEM TO WORK, NO LUCK. I CALLED THEM AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK, PROBABLY JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE NAVAGATION SYSTEM HOOKED UP. I TOOK IT BACK, THEY SAID IT HAD ONE, THEN LOOKED AND CHECKED AND ON AND ON, THEN SAID NO NAVAGATION SYSTEM, THEY INSTALLED AN AFTER MARKET MIRROR SO I WOULD HAVE SOMETHING TO TELL ME WHAT DIRECTIONS I WAS GOING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER. THE CONTACT STATED WAS TRAVELING 25 MPH AND ATTEMPTED A TURN WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WHENEVER ATTEMPTING A TURN AT 25 MPH. THE CONTACT SHIFTED TO PARK AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,800.

WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE CHECK ENGINE OIL AND ESP LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY FOUR CHIMES AND THEN CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING LOCKED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE CAR STARTED UP AGAIN AND THE CODES TURNED OFF. APPROX 1 MONTH LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED. I WAS MAKING A TURN ON A ROUNDABOUT WHEN THE SAME THING OCCURRED DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING CAPTURED ON THE COMPUTER. THEY REPLACED THE KEY FOB AND SAID THAT THIS SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. 4-5 MONTHS LATER, I WAS IN RENO, NV. I WAS DRIVING 20-35 MPH AND AGAIN CHECK ENGINE OIL LIGHT, ESP AND FOUR CHIMES AND THE CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN, THE STEERING LOCKED, AND I COASTED UNTIL I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PLACED IT IN PARK, STARTED CAR AND OIL AND CODES TURNED OFF. 24 HOURS LATER WHEN DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE SAME THING OCCURRED!!! I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND LET THE CAR ROLL, CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PLACED CAR IN PARK AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE CAR STARTED AND CODES TURNED OFF. THE FOLLOWING DAY I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH IT, AS NOTHING WAS RECORDED IN THE INTERNAL COMPUTER. I ASKED FOR THE CAR TO BE KEPT UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT IN THAT ONE WEEK. I ASKED FOR A CO PILOT COMPUTER TO BE PLACED IN THE VEHICLE IN HOPES OF CAPTURING THE PROBLEM WHEN IT OCCURRED, AS THE CODES TURN OFF AFTER CAR IS STARTED. DODGE SENT OUT A REP TO INSPECT VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTION THEY STATED NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND THERE ARE NO CODES STORED ON THE COMPUTER. I AM NOW FACED WITH DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT SHUTS OFF ON ME IN THE CITY AND MOST DANGEROUSLY ON THE FREEWAY WITH NO SET PATTERN AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT!! *TR

I WAS DRIVING NORMALLY GETTING READY TO PULL UP AT A STOP SIGN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STALLS WHILE MOVING. POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE NO LIGHTS OR NOTHING. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED IT HAS HAPPEN TO MANY PEOPLE. MY 2010 CHALLENGER SRT8 WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STALLED WHEN MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00 PM ON 9/5/12. ENGINE WAS AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE AND THE AC WAS RUNNING. I WAS TRAVELLING AT ABOUT 35 MPH AND BEGAN BRAKING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN INTO A SERVICE STATION. AS I STARTED INTO THE TURN AT ABOUT 10 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN AND STOP THE CAR WITH HARD BRAKE PRESSURE. NO INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENTS. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE CAR, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS INOPERATIVE. NEITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE WOULD ENGAGE. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY WARNING OR ALERT LIGHTS INDICATING A MALFUNCTION OR TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND WORKED NORMALLY. THERE WERE 6800 MILES ON CAR ON 9/5/12. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED 10 DAYS AGO, AND TSBS WERE CHECKED BEFORE THE PURCHASE. NO MENTION OF ENGINE SHUTOFF ISSUES ARE LISTED ON THE NHTSA DATABASE OF TSBS OR RECALLS. I DID NOT CHECK CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. IF I HAD, AN KNEW TO CHECK ABOUT STALLS, I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. CONSIDERING THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE, THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS DATABASE, AND THE FACT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 4 OR MORE YEARS, NHTSA SHOULD INITIATE A DEFECT INVESTIGATION IMMEDIATELY. MORE THAN ONE PERSON HAS STATED ON THIS COMPLAINT FORUM THAT THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING CONDITION AND HOPEFULLY SOMEONE DOESN'T HAVE TO DIE TO GET DODGE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. TOO LATE. WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT 4.7L HEMI ON THE CA 15 FREEWAY AT 70 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR ENGINE AND OIL CAME ON AND I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. STEERING AND BRAKES REMAINED OPERATIONAL AND LUCKILY I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER AS THE 15 FREEWAY IS EXTREMELY BUSY AND FAST. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY DODGE DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY PLASTIC TIMING CHAIN GUIDES HAD DISINTEGRATED AND CAUSED A BLOWN ENGINE. THE CAR REPAIRS (REBUILT ENGINE) WERE COVERED UNDER THE 100K MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT TOOK 4 WEEKS TO COMPLETE. THE CAR HAD 54K FREEWAY MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, WAS REGULARLY MAINTAINED, AND NEVER SHOWED ANY INDICATIONS THAT A SEVERE ISSUE WOULD HAVE BEEN FORTHCOMING. I NOW QUESTION THE LONGEVITY OF THE NEW REBUILT ENGINE AS SAME TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLY PARTS WERE USED DURING THE REPAIR. NOTICED THERE IS AT LEAST ONE OTHER IDENTICAL REPORT ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE SO REPORTED ON MY INCIDENT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE MY DODGE CHALLENGER WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 65-72 MPH AND A WIND NOISE CAME THROUGH EITHER THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW OF THE LEFT 1/4 WINDOW THAT DOES NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN. THIS HOLLOWING NOISE HAS BEEN ADDRESSED 7 TIMES AND NOTHING THE DEALER HAS DONE HAS FIXED IT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS MY IMAGINATION, THE CAR HAS NO NOISES, IT IS NOT THE REAR-DIFFERENTIAL AND MIGHT JUST BE ME. THE WEATHER STRIPPING HAS BEEN REPLACED, FOAM HAS BEEN PUT IN ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE FENDERS VIA THE WHEEL WELL AND NOTHING HAS FIXED THE NOISE. ON SATURDAY OF LAST WEEK, WE MADE A 120 MILE TRIP TO SEE FAMILY AND THE CAR WAS PUT IN TO CRUISE POSITION AND WAS SET AT 72 MPH AND THE NOISE WAS ALMOST DEAFENING. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE LISTED ON THE REPORTS HERE AND IT IS AN ONGOING BATTLE BETWEEN ME AND CHRYSLER. *TR

WHILE MAKING A SLOW RIGHT TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH MY VEHICLE STALLED. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. THE STEERING AND BRAKES ALSO DID NOT FUNCTION. I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR TO REGAIN CONTROL. IT STARTED BACK UP RIGHT AWAY AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. ALTHOUGH I DO NOT REMEMBER THE EXACT DATES THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 4 PREVIOUS TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO ANSWERS AND THEY ASSUME NOTHING IS WRONG BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SHOW UP ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN BEHIND ME OR IN FRONT OF ME THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. EVENTUALLY, THERE LIKELY WILL BE. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM AND A SOLUTION MUST BE FOUND ASAP.
