The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated while idling at the traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while driving at various speeds. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart on several occasions and was towed to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where DTC: U0100 and P0700 were retrieved. The dealer flashed the computer; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, were the same DTC were retrieved and the failure was related to a loss of communication with the PCM and the Transmission Control Module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 111,415.

My 2006 Dodge Charger R/T HEMI 5.7 has experienced multiple breakdowns in my transmission. Come to find out it is actually a Mercedes Benz transmission. Replaced multiple times after getting towed multiple times for transmission going out. Totally unacceptable.

On 3/10/2023 my vehicle suddenly starting trembling and shaking profusely! It terrified me severely. I immediately called my mechanic and it was towed in to be repaired. I was told it needed a tune- up. Towing, 3-Direct Ignition coils replaced, 6-spark plugs replaced and 1- fuel injection plenum gasket set replaced. Four weeks later on 4/16/2023 a warning sign of a backwards meeting parenthesis with a lightening bolt between to the two backwards parenthesis showed up on my warning lamp-Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Indicator symbol; causing my vehicle on shake, jump and stall as I was driving on 29S heading toward 70W towards Baltimore to get home. I was able to drive to side of the road and my car completely stopped. A the horrific sounds of the traffic wizzed by me and my 12 year old child, I immediately called AAA, as we were in danger and severely terrified. We were finally picked up after 3 long hours!!!!! My car was the towed up the street from my home because the huge tow truck was unable to get directly in front of my door at that late hour. As I called AAA back the next morning to have my car towed to my mechanic shop, I was told I could only get 1 tow/ breakdown. I was totally in disbelieve after all we endured the evening/ night before. After explaining to a supervisor at AAA, she agreed that we had such a horrible experience the night before and adjusted the policy to accommodate my vehicle to be towed to my mechanic for repairs. This time, my fuel pump needed to be replaced and it has been. My vehicle still feels hesitate in its acceleration and as of today my engine light is on on my warning panel. I have been contacted by a NHTS recall team agent and have been scheduled for an appt

PCM/ECM failure during driving. Caused entire vehicle to shut off during speeds as little as 20 or as high as 70 mph. Severe safety issue and potential for critical component damage to other parts of the vehicle! Warning tone and lamps do not appear until after the incident happens. And it has been confirmed by 3 consecutive car shops and dealers. Happens repeatedly, day to day.

I've owned this car a little over a month. I filled up the gas tank today, after leaving the gas station the car stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. thankfully no one was coming the opposite direction at the time before i could get the car restarted. at the next light it stalled again, and then was able to restart the car. i was able to pull into a parking lot to access any issues. nothing looked wrong visibly. while idling the car stalled again. i researched the issue and found other similar issues with this year and make of the car stalling after filling the tank. this is a huge safety issue as there was no warning and the car completely stalled and had no function. if cars were coming at me in the intersection or i was on the highway which was the next exit, it could have been worse for me and others on the road.

The transmission console shift lever stays in Park. The console shift lever will not go into Reverse. Sunday morning my wife was on her way to church and found that the Dodge Charger RT transmission would not go into reverse. I tried it and she was right. My concern is if this happened while in traffic the vehicle could be rear ended or could cause a traffic night mare. My wife was in New Hampshire as the driver of our car with three other ladies just prior to this problem. . She was about sixty miles away and if the transmission locked up there with the four of them they would have been stranded. The plastic shift lock out located in the console is a plastic piece and should be replaced with a metal or aluminum piece by a Recall or at least a Technical Bulletin. The following is the current vehicle replacement Shift Interlock Repair Kit P/N 68088259AB. If any more information is required please feel free to contact me.

EVERY TIME I FILL MY CAR UP WITH GAS AND DRIVE OFF FROM THE GAS STATION INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC THE CAR WILL STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD I ALMOST GOT HIT IN THE SIDE JUST YESTERDAY. I GOT ONLINE AND DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANKS ON THESE CARS THAT CAUSE THEM TO STALL AFTER PUTTING GAS IN THEM.

PURCHASED VEHICLE AS IS ON 03/16/2021 AT DATE OF PURCHASE VEHICLE HAD ALMOST 200,000 MILES ON IT IT NEEDED FRONT END LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND BUSHINGS REPLACEMENT ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES THE AIR CONDITIONING DIDN'T WORK DUE TO THE AC COMPRESSOR BEING NO GOOD SO THE COMPRESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WOULDN'T GO DOWN REGULATOR. HAD TO BE BROUGHT AND REPLACED AS WELL ALSO AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE IN WHICH VEHICLE WAS SOLD AS IS WITH A MALFUNCTIONING SEATBELT ISSUE IN WHICH THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEATBELT WAS FASTENED AND WILL NOT UNFASTEN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT WORKS HOWEVER THE CARS SENSOR BEEPS AND FLASHES INDICATING THAT SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITHOUT THEIR SEATBELT ON EVEN WITH THE SEATBELT BEING FASTENED WITHOUT AN ACTUAL BODY OR WEIGHT BEING IN THE SEAT AT ALL.... WHEN DRIVING IT ALSO SHUTS OFF AND THEN JUST STARTS UP BACK BY ITSELF. I SEE THIS EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET AND FORUMS, SOME SAY ECM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OTHER SAY THE FUEL TANK AND THE OTHER SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT THE KEY FOB NOT RECOGNIZING THE KEY. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER STARTED TO GET THE LIGHTNING BOLT .THEN STALLING WITH THE LIGHTNING BOLT WHILE DRIVING 55MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN THE CITY IT ALSO DOES IT AT STOP SIGNS AND SOMETIMES WONT START BACK RIGHT AWAY.. I THEN LOOKED ONLINE USING GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND PROBLEM LISTED UNDER CHRYSLER RECALL OF SOME 2005-2007 CHARGER/MAGNUM/300 MODELS, AND FOUND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO TEMPORARILY INSERT SCREWDRIVER INTO SIDE OF TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY BY REMOVING ONE PIECE OF TRIM, AND WAS ABLE TO THEN DRIVE OVER TO DARCARS CHRYSLER/JEEP/DODGE ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND DEALERSHIP TO DROP FOR RECALL REPAIR. I LEFT VEHICLE AND THEN WAS TOLD BY SERVICE DEPT STAFF NEXT DAY ON 6/30/17 THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF RECALL, AND WOULD COST ME $510 OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER ASSEMBLY RATHER THAN REPLACE THE SMALL CHEAP PLASTIC KNOWN CHRYSLER DEFECT THAT HAS PROBABLY ALREADY HAPPENED TO THOUSANDS OF CHARGERS/MAGNUMS/300S. LUCKY FOR ME THIS DID NOT HAPPEN IN AN EMERGENCY SITUAITON WHERE I NEEDED TO MOVE MY CAR IMMEDIATELY TO GO TO HOSPITAL, OR AVOID A FLASH FLLOOD, HURRICANE, OR TORNADO OR THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLE INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE. IN ADDITION, I DID MORE RESEARCH AND FOUND THE $16 PART ONLINE NEEDED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, ALONG WITH MANY VIDEOS ON HOW TO FIX IT YOURSELF, AND ORDERED IT ON 6/30/17 AND HAD THE CAR REPAIRED MYSELF AT HOME ON 7/2/17 A FEW HOURS AFTER RECEIVING THE PART IN THE MAIL. CHRYSLER SHOULD MAKE THIS A RECALL FOR ALL AFFECTRED VEHICLES BECAUSE THE COST TO REPAIR IT IN PARTS AND LABOR IS VERY CHEAP, SINCE I ESTIMATE THEY COULD DO THE SAME JOB IN ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND THE PART WOULD ONLY COST THEM MAYBE UNDER $5. SEE ATTACHED RECALL AND $16 PART COST WHEN ORDERED ON AMAZON.

MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER HEMI POLICE INTERCEPTOR I PURCHASED FROM THE STATE OF OREGON AT 137,000 RANDOMLY DIES. THE LIGHTNING BOLT WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL CODE COMES ON. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THE PCM $750 HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE PLUGS $350 HAVE BEEN REPLACED AS WELL. I ALSO GET TCM CODES. MY CAR HAS DIED AT VERY DANGEROUS TIMES, WHEN PASSING OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. THE DEALER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT'S CAUSING IT.

TAKATA RECALL THE SUSPENSION IS SHOT. I AM HAVING TO REPLACE THE MY TIRES DUE TO THE BUSHINGS BEING JUNK AND HAVE ATE MY TIRES AWAY ON THE INSIDE DOWN TO THE METAL DUE TO THE TOE POSITIONING BEING INCORRECT. THE CONTROL ARMS HAVE BEEN CHANGED, BUT I AM IN FEAR THE REAR CAMBER MAY BE COMPLETELY OUT. ALSO, SOMETIMES MY CAR DOES NOT WANT TO TURN OVER, BUT YET THE BATTERY, STARTER AND ALTERNATOR ARE FINE. ALSO, MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS A MESS. I CAN'T ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW UNLESS I SHUT OFF MY AIR OR HEAT. THEN WHEN I TURN ON MY AIR OR HEAT ALL MY INTERIOR LIGHTS GO OUT. PLUS, SOMETIMES MY TACHOMETER DOESN'T WANT TO WORK. I HAVE REPLACED THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, IT IS ALWAYS MAINTAINED, BUT YET I FEEL LIKE I AM ABOUT TO HAVE TO DUMP THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS INTO THIS CHEAPLY MADE SUSPENSION. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL CHARGER OWNERS OF THE SAME YEAR STATING THEY HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES AND IF A RECALL CAN NOT BE DONE THEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SHOULD BE PUT INTO MOTION. THE LAST TIME I FILLED UP MY CAR, IT KEPT STALLING AND I WOULD LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WHILE IN TRAFFIC WITH MY CHILDREN IN CAR. NOT VERY SAFE FEELING. 2006 DODGE CHARGES WITH 5.7 HEMI V8 - EXPERIENCING RANDOM STALLING. HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING AND ABS. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR "CERTAIN 2005-2007 DODGE CHARGERS, MAGNUMS, AND 300S." I HAD THEM REPAIR IT FOR $155. THE DEALERSHIP SHARED WITH ME THAT THEY SERVICE 4-5 VEHICLES A WEEK WITH THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM THAT WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THAT IS IN GREENSBORO NC, WHICH IS NOT A SUPER-LARGE MARKET BUT IS NOT A TINY MARKET EITHER. I WOULD LIKE FOR SOMEONE TO EXPLAIN TO ME IN DETAIL WHY MY SPECIFIC CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH THE CAR STALLED WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ENGINE MISFIRE/STUTTERING. THE STALL WAS AS IF THE KEY WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. THE CAR COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, RESTART WAS ATTEMPTED AND THE CAR STARTED PERFECTLY, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. THE CAR STALLED AGAIN AFTER A FEW MILES, RESTARTED AND IT STALLED AGAIN - THIS CONTINUED, EACH TIME WITH THE TIME DRIVEN BEING LESS. ALL THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. I FINALLY MADE IT TO A SHOP WHERE THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE STALLING ISSUE. THE CAR WILL HAVE THE PCM REPLACED IN HOPE THAT THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE FAILURE ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS - THE CAR LOSES ALL POWER AND IS VERY DIFFICULT TO MOVE INTO THE SHOULDER WHEN IT STALLS (NO POWER STEERING). THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT CAN BE CATASTROPHIC.

HAS REPEATED NUMEROUS TIMES, INCLUDING TODAY, 3 TIMES IN LESS THAN 1 1/2 MILES, AT LESS THAN 20MPH. NO TROUBLE CODES SCANNED OR DISPLAYED. SYMPTOM WENT AWAY FOR 1 1/2 MONTHS AFTER CHANGING OUT SPARK PLUGS, AS A DODGE TECH RECOMMENDED. HE ALSO SAYS THE IGNITION COILS DETERIORATE OVER TIME, AND THE INTERNAL SHIELDING DOES NOT KEEP STRAY 'NOISE' FROM TRAVELLING INTO THE ENGINE CONTROLLER, EFFECTIVELY RESETTING IT, AND SHOWING NO CODES. HAVING 8 FACTORY COILS TO REPLACE AT $55 EACH IS QUITE A GAMBLE THAT MAY NOT FIX THE ISSUE. AFTERMARKET COILS APPARENTLY DO NOT FIX THIS, EITHER. I HAVE TIGHTENED EVERY ELECTRICAL GROUNDING POINT I CAN FIND ON THE CAR, UNPLUGGED/PLUGGED NUMEROUS CONNECTORS TO RESEAT THEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND IT APPEARS ON '06 AND SOME 07 CHARGERS. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME (AS I WAS THIRTY MILES AWAY) AND DISCOVERED THE ENGINE VALVE IN PISTON #2 HAD BROKEN AND SHATTERED, CAUSING AN ENGINE FAILURE, WITH THE ONLY REPAIR BEING A COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT. A CHECK ON-LINE SHOWED THIS IS A COMMON AND RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND ENGINE TYPE (2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T). I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO DODGE, AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE OF VALVES, HOWEVER THE DODGE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I BOUGHT MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER 3.5L V6 NEW IN MAY 2006. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS CAR UNTIL SUMMER OF 2009 JUST AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED, MY GEAR SHIFTER STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. I CALLED DODGE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AFTER READING ABOUT SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAD SAME ISSUE. WAS TOLD NO, I PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED SOMEWHERE AROUND $450-500. ON MONDAY I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED BECAUSE IT BROKE DOWN ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE CAR WAS GOING TO EXPLODE LIKE IN A CARTOON. 2006 DODGE CHARGER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD A TRANSMISSION LEAK, AND IT SHUDDERED, THE SUN ROOF RATTLED AND THE SIDE TRIM FELL OFF. A FORMER TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE CONDENSATION DRAIN FOR THE AIR CONDITION DRIPPED ONTO THE TRANSMISSION AND POOLED AROUND THE TRANSMISSION FILLER TUBE. WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED A 140,000 MILES, IT BEGAN EMITTING WHITE SMOKE, TO THE POINT WHERE THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF HIS REAR VIEW MIRROR. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE VALVE SEAT OF THE #3 CYLINDER HAD DROPPED OUT, SMASHING TWO LARGE HOLES ONE ON EACH SIDE OF THE PISTON, THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. THERE WAS ALSO A HAIRLINE CRACK ACROSS THE APEX OF THE PISTON HOLE-TO-HOLE, THE DEBRIS HAD PUMMELED THE CYLINDER HEAD. ALSO, DEBRIS FROM THE DAMAGE HAD BEEN SUCKED BACK INTO THE INLET MANIFOLD DEPOSITING METAL CHUNKS INTO THE #1 AND #2 CYLINDERS DAMAGING THE PISTONS AND HEADS WITH SMALL CHUNKS OF METAL EMBEDDED IN THEM. *JB UPDATED 08/28/14

MY DODGE CHARGER WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. SOME (NOT ALL) CHARGERS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE, IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER ADDRESSED SOME CUSTOMERS VIA CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39. IT STATES THAT "SOME 2005 THROUGH 2007 MODEL YEAR DODGE CHARGER, MAGNUM, AND CHRYSLER 300 EQUIPPED WITH A FLOOR SHIFTER" ARE AFFECTED. THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT LEVEL INTERLOCK SPRING HOOK ON YOUR VEHICLE MAY BREAK. A BROKEN INTERLOCK RETURN SPRING HOOK WILL RESULT IN THE INABILITY TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER OUT OF THE PARK POSITION." THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT BECAUSE IF THIS VEHICLE WAS TO STALL AND THE DRIVER PUT IT INTO PARK TO RESTART, THE VEHICLE WOULD BE UNABLE TO GO BACK INTO DRIVE. IT IS A PLASTIC PIECE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT CHRYSLER IS CHARGING $375 BECAUSE THE ENTIRE SHIFT ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE TAKEN APART TO ADDRESS. INITIALLY, AFTER REFUELING MY VEHICLE (2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T WITH 5.7L HEMI) AT A GAS STATION, THE ENGINE WOULD HESITATE AND STUMBLE A MILE OR SO LATER, AND OPERATE NORMALLY AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. HOWEVER, BEGINNING WITHIN THE LAST MONTH, WHENEVER I REFUEL AT THE GAS STATION, THE ENGINE WILL HESITATE AND THEN STALL.THE OBD DOES NOT ILLUMINATE THE MIL OR REGISTER A DTC. THE ENGINE IS THEN HARD TO RESTART, AND ONCE RESTARTED AND THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BEGIN TO MOVE IMMEDIATELY UPON PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR, AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. THE DISCUSSION OF TOWING IT CAME UP AGAIN, THEN WE NOTICED A CABLE ATTACHED TO THE SHIFTER AND AFTER PLAYING WITH IT HAVE DEVELOPED A SYSTEM TO UNLATCH IT FROM PARK. YOU HAVE TO PULL THE CABLE TO THE LEFT WITH A PEN TO DISABLE THE GEAR SHIFT. TODAY I TOOK IT TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP KNEW JUST WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, BUT DENIES A RECALL ON THIS. I AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE IT FIXED MONDAY THE 12TH. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T WITH THE 5.7. AT LEAST ONCE PER DAY (AND OFTEN MUCH MORE OFTEN), DURING ACCELERATION, CAR WILL GO INTO "LIMP" MODE, WHERE THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION WILL STOP PRODUCING POWER TO THE WHEELS. ENGINE LIGHT WILL "DING" AND RPM WILL DROP FROM ACCELERATION RPM DOWN TO ABOUT 2000 RPM AND CAUSE THE CAR TO HESITATE, CREATING AN ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON HIGHWAY MERGING. CAR WILL COME BACK ON LINE AFTER ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS, AND RUN NORMALLY. THE MORE I PUSH THE ACCELERATION, THE MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR. ALSO, CAR WILL SIMPLY STALL AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHILE IN IDLE. I JUST READ AN ARTICLE ON YAHOO STATING AN INVESTIGATION IN THE 2006 DODGE CHARGER ENGINE STALLING. FOR 2 YEARS I HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IT WAS INADVERTENT BUT DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING INTERSTATE SPEEDS. THE ENGINE WOULD STALL OUT, ALMOST LIKE YOU TURNED THE KEY OFF AND THEN BACK ON. IT ALMOST COST ME A WRECK ON THE INTERSTATE. IT WOULD ALSO DO IT AT IDLE SPEEDS BUT AT THAT RPM IT WOULD KILL THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE IT. WHEN IT FINALLY GOT WORSE, I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED NEW PLUGS. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR TUNE-UP;AND TRANSMISSION SERVICE ON MARCH13, 2013; ON APRIL 17, 2013 THE CAR TOTALLY SHUTDOWN AS I TURNED INTO THE GAS STATION. THE SHIFTER SELECTOR IS STUCK IN THE "PARK" POSITION. A SMALL PLASTIC PART BREAKS UNDERNEATH THE SHIFT SELECTOR CAUSING THE MALFUNCTION. WIFE WAS TRYING TO GO TO WORK, STARTED THE CAR NO PROBLEMS, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I DID A INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND OUT IT WAS PROBABLY "THE PINK THINGY" PARK LOCKOUT, WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER ESPECIALLY YEARS 2005-2007. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND INFORMED THEM IT WAS THE PINK THING. THE SERVICE REP LOOKED AT ME AND SAID "OH! YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT." INFORMED ME IT IS HAPPENING QUITE A BIT. NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAD TO PAY $112.00 TO GET IT FIXED WITH ANOTHER PART MADE OUT OF THE SAME CHEAP PLASTIC. STARTED THE CAR, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND PROCEEDED TO SHIFT THE GEAR INTO DRIVE. MY GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, FORCE AND EFFORT. CALLED AAA AND WHEN THE AAA DRIVER CAME I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT MY GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. THE DRIVER EXPLAINED TO ME THAT HE GETS OVER 100 CALLS A WEEK FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DRIVER REMOVED THE TOP OFF OF MY GEAR CASE AND SHOWED ME HOW TO RELEASE THE CABLE TO GET THE GEAR SHIFT TO COME OUT OF PARK. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT MY CAR'S VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. IT IS AN INSULT AND DEPRESSING THAT SUCH AN ASTRONOMICAL NUMBER OF CHRYSLER VEHICLES ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER ONLY A CERTAIN NUMBER OF VEHICLES ARE RECOGNIZED AS BEING UNDER THE RECALL. ON FEB. 27TH, 2012, I STARTED MY CAR IN AN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE TO WORK. THE CAR STARTED UP FINE. I TRIED TO SHIFT FROM THE PARK POSITION TO REVERSE, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR - IT WAS STUCK ON PARK. I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL WHICH ADVISED TO PRESS THE OVERRIDE SWITCH LOCATED IN THE COMPARTMENT NEAR THE SHIFTER. THIS DID NOT WORK. INSTEAD, I HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE NEAREST AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS PRESENTED WITH A BILL OF $456 FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO REPAIR THE SHIFTER. RECENTLY I STARTED HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY CHARGER. UPON ENTERING A HIGH WAY AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR, MY CAR LOST ALL POWER UPON ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE DID NOT STALL BUT THE TACHOMETER DROPPED TO NEAR ZERO, THE ENGINE LIGHT AND POWER LIGHT FLASHED BRIEFLY AND THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL. I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN AND SAME THING HAPPENED. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A PRETTY SIGNIFICANT ACCIDENT WITH THE CARS BEHIND ME AND THE ONES I WAS MERGING ON TO THE HIGHWAY WITH. THE SYMPTOMS DISAPPEARED FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEN STARTED AGAIN AND PROGRESSIVELY BECAME WORSE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER THAT INVESTIGATED AND FOUND IT TO BE THE POWER CONTROL MODULE WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE QUITE EXPENSIVE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON A FORUM THAT I BELONG TO AND FOUND MANY INSTANCES OF THIS. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND SIMPLY PUT THEY DID NOT SEEM TO CARE. THERE ARE MANY DEFECTS ON THIS YEAR OF CHARGER AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAS EVER BEEN COVERED, AT LEAST THE ONES THAT I HAVE. I CONSIDER THIS LATEST INCIDENT TO BE SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND HOPE THAT IT GETS INVESTIGATED. AS FOR ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT, NEVER AGAIN IN MY LIFETIME. THE NEWEST ISSUE, WHICH I SEE VIA ONLINE RESEARCH A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING IS THE SHIFT KIT. THE PARK LOCK MECHANISM BROKE, AND I COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF PARK. WE'VE REMOVED THE CONSOLE, AND EVERY DAY, I HAVE TO PUSH THE BROKEN PIECE OF PLASTIC DOWN IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR IN GEAR. THE DEALER WANTS $450 TO FIX THIS, AND I WILL NOT PAY IT. HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED. NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN. THE PIECE THAT BROKE IS A PATHETIC BRIGHT PINK PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT IS AS CHEAP AS A TOY FROM THE DOLLAR STORE, AND I AM NOT EXAGGERATING. IT'S PATHETIC. THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM ENTERING AN EXPRESS-WAY FOR EXAMPLE OR PASSING ANOTHER CAR, AND CONSEQUENTLY HAVING TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY, BUT THEN IF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, SAY, TO SLOW DOWN OR STEP ON THE BREAKS, THE CAR WILL STALL, AND THIS IS EVERY TIME. I AM NOT TALKING HERE OF A SUITUATION OF "RED-LINING", JUST EVERY-DAY NORMAL DRIVING. IF I AM ACCELERATING, SAY IN THE 3000 RPM RANGE, AND THEN TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS FOR WHATEVER REASON, THE CAR WILL JERK AND BASICALLY THE TRANSMISSION WILL DISENGAGE FROM THE ENGINE SPEED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I GET NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR. THE ENGINE WILL STILL BE RUNNING AND EVERY THING ELSE WILL BE OK, EXCEPT ACCELERATING. USUALLY, WHEN I GET NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR, I LET THE CAR COAST UNTIL THE SPEED IS SOMEWHERE ABOUT 20 MPH AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL RE-ENGAGE AND I CAN PROCEED. THE PROBLEM I AM DESCRIBING HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. I HAVE TALKED WITH THE SERVICE REP AT A LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND HE OF CAUSE DOWN-PLAYS THE PROBLEM, BUT ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ANOTHER CAR WILL SLAMS INTO MY VEHICLE, BECAUSE MY CAR STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY EXPECIALLY A PORTION OF THE ROAD THAT MAY NOT HAVE A PULL-OFF SHOLDER. RECENTLY MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER BEGAN STALLING, NUMEROUS TIME, WITH THE STEERING LOCKING SOMETIMES AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. A POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS SITUATION FOR EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. MY CAR'S BEEN TOWED TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THE PROBLEM REMAINS A MYSTERY TO THE TECHNICIANS. THEY'VE CHANGED THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM), WITH NO CHANGE. THE CAR CONTINUES TO INTERMITTENTLY REGISTER 'LOST COMM WITH THE PCM' DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES. AT TIMES THE CAR PERFORMS FLAWLESS, AND OTHER TIMES IT STALLS AND WON'T RESTART SOMETIMES FOR DAYS. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH CHARGERS, OLD AND NEW, AND ONE THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS SUFFER. A CHRYSLER REP TOLD ME THEY WERE AWARE OF A STALL PROBLEM, BUT SAID THAT SINCE THEY DON'T KNOW THE EXACT CAUSE, THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO UNLESS THE CUSTOMER PAYS FOR EXPENSIVE AND EXPERIMENTAL DIAGNOSES. WHY IS IT UP TO THE CONSUMER TO FIND A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT COULD KILL MOTORISTS? WHEN DO THEY INTEND TO ADDRESS IT? AFTER A FAMILY IS WIPED OUT? THIS IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. AND A PREVENTABLE ONE IF WE CAN CONVINCE CHRYSLER TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM AND AFFECT A RECALL TO FIX IT. I HAVE A 2006 DODGE CHARGER, PURCHASED IN CLEVELAND OH IN OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2005. I HAD ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE STARTING IN THE BEGINNING OF 2006. I INITIALLY NOTICED THAT MY TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAS SLIPPING AND THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP IN SEPTEMBER 2006 O FIND THAT THE TRANSMISSION CLIP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEN ANOTHER ISSUE, THAT HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED, BEGAN TO EMERGE IN EARLY 2007. I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD RUMBLE AS IF WAS PREPARING TO SHUT OFF, USUALLY WHEN I WAS COMING TO A STOP. ADDITIONALLY, MY VEHICLE WOULD AT TIMES SEEM TO BE STUCK IN IDLE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP 5 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. THE CAR STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY/ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING AND I HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS AROUND ME THIS TIME. I PURCHASED A 2006 DODGE CHARGER BRAND NEW IN MARCH 2006. EVER SINCE THEN THERE HAS BEEN PROBLEMS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES NOT STOPPING AND SQUEAKING AND THE FACT THAT I COULD BE ACCELERATING UP TO ABOUT 20-30MPH AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ANY FURTHER. THE CAR IS SHOWING SIGNS OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THESE PROBLEMS LEAD ME TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID I NEEDED BRAKE PADS AND NOTHING ELSE WAS WRONG, WHICH I GOT BRAKE PADS FROM A DIFFERENT BUSINESS. THE CAR STILL CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME THING WITH THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE BRAKES. I SEE THERE WAS NO RESULTS WITH GOING TO THE DEALER SO I CONTACTED THE CORPORATE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE # AND THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CAR BACK FOR A DIAGNOSIS, I ADVISED THEM THAT I PREVIOUSLY DONE THAT AND THERE WAS NOTHING FOUND. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THE DEALER WOULD NEED TO RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM. *TR

MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER STARTED LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS SOME PLUG THAT GOES INTO THE TRANSMISSION PAN. THE SERVICE ADVISOR DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING UNDER THE CAR, BECAUSE HE SAID THERE HAD OTHER VEHICLES IN FOR REPAIR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF THE FOLLOWING MONDAY FOR REPAIR. THE RECEIPT STATES THAT THEY REPLACED AN O-RING AND BUSHINGS. IT COST ME A LITTLE OVER $153, NOT OVERLY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM HAD THE LEAK NOT BEEN DETECTED AND MORE FLUID LOST. I CHECKED IN ON A FORUM OVER THE WEB AND NOTICED OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I WANTED TO KNOW WHY NO RECALL HAS BEEN FILED FOR THIS. MY CENTER CONSOLE SHIFTER OF MY 2006 DODGE CHARGER RT, HAS A MALFUNCTION. IT WILL NOT LET ME OUT OF PARK. WHEN I TRY TO RELEASE IT WITH THE MANUAL OVERRIDE BUTTON, IT WILL NOT RELEASE EITHER. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY ROLLED FROM THE DRIVEWAY INTO A DITCH, CAUSING $1500 WORTH OF DAMAGE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE HAND BRAKE WAS APPLIED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. ON EACH OCCASION WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, THE GROUND WAS WET FROM MELTING SNOW AND THE VEHICLE WAS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 21,155 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.

WELL YESTERDAY EVENING. I WAS MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND THE CAR WAS JUST REVVING WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. IF THERE WERE ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC I COULD OFF GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT. I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR HARD, DEFINITELY DON'T RACE. WHY WOULD SOMETHING HAPPEN LIKE THIS? IT IS PRETTY MUCH A BRAND NEW CAR WHICH I KEEP UP THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. IS THERE GOING TO BE A RECALL ON THIS EQUIPMENT BECAUSE THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I'VE READ A FEW DIFFERENT FORUMS ON THIS VEHICLE AND THERE ARE OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR OR HESITATING TO GO INTO GEAR. PURCHASED JULY 14, 2006. IT RAN GREAT WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL JULY 26. I WENT TO TAKE A LEFT OUT OF MY COMPANY'S PARKING LOT AND THE CAR SPUTTERED AND WOULD ACCELERATE FAST. I HAD TO PULL OFF ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND GAVE IT SOME GAS. I ATTEMPTED TO GO AGAIN WHEN THE TRAFFIC WAS CLEAR AND IT SPUTTERED MORE UNTIL I GAVE IT A LOT OF GAS AND THEN IT DROVE FINE. I THOUGH IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT SO I DROVE IT HOME. THAT NIGHT MY WIFE, SON AND I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MALL. UPON LEAVING THE MALL IT DID IT AGAIN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE DEALERSHIP WAS STILL OPEN AND CLOSE BY SO I DROVE IT DIRECTLY THERE. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER TO DRIVE WHILE THEY ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT. ON AUGUST 9, THEY GAVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO ME. THAT NIGHT IT DID IT AGAIN, EXCEPT THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY DIED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE NEXT DAY IT WAS BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IS SAT FOR 37 DAYS WHILE THEY TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY REPLACED ALL THE OXYGEN SENSORS, THE POWER CONTROL MODULE, THE WIRING HARNESSES AND I AM SURE THERE WERE SOME OTHER THINGS. THEY TEST DROVE IT FOR 9 KEY CYCLES AND 250 MILES AND WERE 98% CONFIDENT THEY FIXED IT SO I GOT THE CAR BACK ON SEPTEMBER 15. THE NEXT DAY THE SAME PROBLEM RETURNED AND I WAS 50 MILES FROM HOME AND THIS TIME THE IDLING OF THE CAR WAS SO ROUGH THAT THE CAR WAS VISIBLY SHAKING. I HAD A FRIEND FOLLOW ME HOME AND SINCE IT WAS A SATURDAY NIGHT, THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT OPEN AND WOULD NOT BE UNTIL MONDAY. MONDAY MORNING I STARTED THE CAR UP AND LET IT IDLE 5 MINUTES BEFORE LEAVING. WHEN I GOT IN, IT WAS IDLING ROUGH AGAIN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. I SHUT IT DOWN, CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND IT IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WILL STAY BECAUSE I AM NOT TAKING IT BACK. I HAVE REQUESTED VEHICLE REPLACEMENT FROM CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP. NOW HERE I AM 5 DAYS LATER AND THERE IS STILL NO ANSWER AS TO WHEN I WILL GET A NEW VEHICLE. *NM

I AM ABOUT TO FILE A LEMON LAW COMPLAINT BECAUSE DODGE HAS BEEN "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE" THE MOST SERIOUS PROBLEMS THAT HAVE PLAGUED MY VEHICLE, A 2006 DODGE CHARGER R/T, SINCE DAY FOUR OF MY OWNERSHIP. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 68 DAYS AND OF THOSE, I HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE FUNCTIONING CAR FOR 19 DAYS. THEY HAVE FIXED A NUMBER OF MINOR ISSUES AND NOTIFIED ME THAT THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO FIX OR DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX AT THIS TIME, SOME MINOR ISSUES INCLUDING THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR PROBLEMS (WHICH THEY SAY THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE". THE SERIOUS ISSUES THAT ARE OCCURRING WHEN IT IDLES, WHEN IT ACCELERATES AND WITH WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE SUSPENSION AND POSSIBLY BOTH THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. OF THOSE 68 DAYS, THEY HAVE COME TO PICK UP MY CAR ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS TO TRY AND FIX IT, THE LAST TIME (WHICH CONTINUES CURRENTLY) THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR FOUR WEEKS. I HAPPEN TO KNOW (UPON RESEARCHING AFTER THE PROLONGED PERIOD THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR) THAT TSB'S OR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR EVERY PROBLEM THAT IS OCCURRING WITH MY CAR. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS (ONE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND ONE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC) THAT HAVE WITNESSED THESE MALFUNCTIONS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE LEGALLY FOR GETTING SOME KIND OF RESOLUTION. *JB
