I was sold this car from a dealer and told nothing was wrong with it, 2 days later codes U0002 (CAN communication BUS performance) and U0103 (Loss communication with gear shift module) came on and the car will go into what I believe is limp mode every 10-30 minutes into driving it. I believe the Column shifter assembly is to blame as there was a recall for this same part and I’m having the same exact issues stated in the recall making it unsafe to drive.

THE VEHICLE STALLED BUT THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT THEN SAW BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH A WET RAG AND SOME WATER. THE CONTACT THEN CONTACTED HIS INSURANCE COMPANY WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR SEATS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND OPENED THE TRUNK WITH A CROWBAR AND SAW THAT THE BATTERY HAD CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT AND HIS DAUGHTER, WHO WAS A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE DID NOT SUSTAIN INJURIES. A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.

ALL OF MY STEERING COLUMN COMPONENTS QUIT WORKING, I HAVE NO TURN SIGNALS, WIPERS, BRIGHTS, CRUISE CONTROL, HORN OR POWER MIRRORS. NOW THE TAILLIGHTS ILLUMINATE ONLY WHEN THEY WANT TO BUT BRAKE LIGHTS WORK. I WAS STOPPED AND INFORMED THAT I HAD NO REAR LIGHTING AT ALL AND THAT IS WAS VERY UNSAFE. I'VE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY REPLACING PARTS BUT NOTHING IS GETTING FIXED NOT TOO MENTION THE SAFETY ASPECT OF IT ALL WITH NO TURN SIGNALS OR WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND THE TAILLIGHTS OR RUNNING LIGHTS NOT WORKING UNLESS I UNHOOK THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WHICH I ALSO REPLACED. THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON HERE AND THERE AS WELL. I BELIEVE IT'S THE TIPM BUT I NEED SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS. IT'S BEEN MONTHS SINCE I'VE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND HAVING EVERYTHING WORKING PROPERLY. I ALSO TAKE CARE OF MY VEHICLES AND KEEP UP ON ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.

THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING. 3/5/16 RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THEM AT ABOUT 2:00 AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD FIXED THE CAR AND ONLY HAD TO REPLACE THE WIRE HARNESS. I ARRIVED AT THERE BETWEEN 3:30-4:00 ON 03/05/2016. I PAID THEY THEN GAVE ME A BUSINESS CARD FOR L.A. TOWING TOLD ME I WOULD PROBABLY NEED A TOW SOON. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS UPSIDE DOWN WHEN I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK. I STARTED THE CAR IT MADE A GRINDING SOUND AND KEPT CUTTING OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING FROM STARTER LEFT LOOSE.ASKED WHY THEY DIDN'T FIX IT JUST HAVE IT TOWED BACK WHEN IT BREAKS DOWN AGAIN.ON 03/ 07 THE CAR BROKE DOWN AGAIN COMPLETELY. FROM THE TIME I RECEIVED IT FROM HOLLYWOOD CHRYSLER JEEP THE CAR KEPT CUTTING OFF AT ALMOST EVERY TEN MINUTES. ON 3/7/16 IT WOULDN'T CRANK ANYMORE SO I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR THERE. IT GOT TOWED ABOUT 4-5 DAYS LATER BY EMS TOWING. IT IS STILL THERE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERVISOR HE STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT OBLIGATED TO FIX THE CAR ONLY TO GET IT RUNNING AND THAT'S IT. HE SAID THAT THEY WERE NOT OBLIGATED TO PUT THE STEERING WHEEL ON CORRECTLY EVEN THOUGH THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL. I THEN ASKED HIM TO SHOW ME PROOF OF THE WIRE HARNESS REPLACEMENT AND HE STATED THAT THEY REPAIRED NOT REPLACED THE WIRE HARNESS. I THEN ASKED ABOUT THE ESTIMATE TO SHOW EXACTLY WHAT WAS THE ISSUES BECAUSE THEIR DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM ON THE ESTIMATE PAGE WAS ONLY A REITERATION ON MY OBSERVATION. HE STATED THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG, ONLY GET THE CAR STARTED THAT'S ALL. HE STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT UNDER ANY OBLIGATION TO FIX WHAT WAS WRONG,THOUGH THE ONLY REASON I TOWED TO THEM WAS TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. ASKED WHY DID HIS MECHANICS LEAVE THE STARTER LOOSE BECAUSE THAT WAS THE MAIN ISSUE THAT I BROUGHT THE CAR THERE FOR. HE SAID YOU DON'T EXPECT FOR US TO FIX THE WHOLE CAR DO YOU.

THE KEY AUTOMATICALLY TURNED TO THE "OFF" POSITION EACH TIME, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF. ALSO, KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED AND WHILE IN THE OFF POSITION, ALL ACCESSORIES STILL WORKED. FINALLY WAS ABLE TO REMOVE KEY AND TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP. SERVICE ADVISOR COULD NOT REMOVE KEY. APPOINTMENT MADE TO CHECK PROBLEM (1ST ONE 4 DAYS LATER), AND WHEN HOME, HAD TO DISCONNECT BATTERY TO SHUT OFF EVERYTHING. ONLY OTHER RECALL IS FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG REPLACEMENT WHERE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AFTER ALMOST A YEAR. VERY DANGEROUS WITH VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING, PARTICULARILY FOR A NOVICE OR INSECURE DRIVER. FRUSTATING AND UNSAFE TO HAVE TO LEAVE KEY IN VEHICLE AND HAVING HIGH DOLLAR BATTERY GO DEAD...JUST REPLACED IT LAST MONTH FOR $215.00...

IN AUGUST 2015, MY CAR WOULD NOT START SO I HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION MODULE AND PURCHASE A NEW KEY ($1000). ON OCTOBER 30, 2015, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT IN THE RAIN WHEN MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER AT ALL BUT I MANAGED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE CAR WORKED (LIGHTS, RADIO, EVERYTHING ON THE PANEL) THE ONLY THING THAT DID NOT WORK WAS THE CAR. MY CAR WILL NOT START BACK UP. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. HOW COULD SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN WHEN I REPLACED THE IGNITION MODULE THAT SEEMS TO BE THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM? I AM VERY LUCKY WE WERE NOT INVOLVED IN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT OR EVEN CAUSE A DEATH.

THE FIRE CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE GARAGE AND SMOKE & WATER DAMAGE TO THE ENTIRE HOUSE. THIS THE SUMMARY FROM THE FIRE INSPECTOR THAT WAS SENT OUT BY OUR INSURANCE COMPANY: BASED ON SCENE OBSERVATIONS, WITNESS INTERVIEWS, AND INFORMATION RECEIVED, THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS MOST PROBABLY RELATED TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE INVOLVING WIRING AND OR COMPONENTS OF THE 2009 DODGE CHARGER. MORE SPECIFICALLY, THE FIRE OCCURRED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS AN ELECTRICAL EVENT OCCURRING IN THE ORIGIN AREA RESULTING IN THE IGNITION OF COMBUSTIBLE WIRING INSULATION AND OTHER COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AREA LEFT SIDE.

I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND MANY FUSES. THE CAR STARTED ONE TIME WHEN WE FIRST REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT AS SOON AS I TURNED IT OFF IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. WE FIGURED OUT HOW TO START THE CAR ONE MORE TIME TO GET IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. I AM HAVING TO REPLACE THE IGNITION MODULE AND PURCHASE A NEW KEY. I AM LOOKING AT A $960.00 BILL. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS EXACT PART FOR THE MANUFACTURE DATE OF MAY 2007 - MAY 2008. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED AUGUST 2008. I BELIEVE THIS FAULTY PART WAS ALSO USED ON MY CAR. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS FOR THIS YEAR MODEL, WE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A RECALL. $960.00 JUST TO REPLACE A KEY!!!!

I OWN A 2009 DODGE CHARGER. WHEN CRANKING ENGINE ALL THE CHECK LIGHTS CAME ON (INCLUDING ENGINE, COOLANT, TIRE CHECK, ETC.). THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS ALSO ALL THE WAY COLD.I CUT THE ENGINE OFF. THE ENGINE WAS SLOW TO CRANK BUT DID CRANK. I DROVE NOT EVEN A HALF MILE AND THE TEMP GAUGE WAS GOING FROM COLD TO HOT AND THEN THE ENGINE STOPPED. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD I FOUND MY CAR WAS SMOKING AND THE COOLANT WAS ALMOST BONE DRY. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT NO CHECK LIGHTS HAVE APPEARED. I TOOK MY CAR TO LANDERS DODGE IN SOUTHAVEN, MS THEY RAN A CHECK AND PERFORMED MAINTENANCE TO MY CAR AND ADDED COOLANT. NOW, A MONTH AND HALF LATER MY CAR IS SMOKING AGAIN AND COOLANT IS EXTREMELY LOW. WHILE MY CAR IS SMOKING AND ALMOST NO COOLANT, TEMP GAUGE IS NOT DETECTING MY CAR RUNNING HOT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

2009 DODGE CHARGER SXT, PURCHASED BACK IN MAY 2010, STARTING HAVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMS IN OCTOBER 2010. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT READS THAT I HAVE A FAILURE WITHIN MY OXYGEN SENSORS. PURCHASED CAR USED AT 36, 252 MILES. WOO HOO, THE WARRANTY ON THIS CAR EXPIRED AT 36,00 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE "AUTHORIZE" CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP OF WHOM CHARGED ME $99.00 JUST TO EVEN LOOK AT MY CAR, THEY CALLED IT A DIAGNOSTIC FEE FROM WHICH THEY JUST HOOK CAR UP TO A PORTABLE COMPUTER AND LET THE COMPUTER READ THE ENGINE CODE. (THE SAME THING THAT AUTOZONE OR ADVANCED AUTO PARTS DOES FOR FREE). THEY RAN THERE MACHINE ON MY CAR, READ THE CODE, AND MADE ME WAIT FOR ABOUT HOUR JUST SO THEY COULD MAKE ME THINK THEY WERE ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING SPECIAL WHEN CLEARLY I CAN SEE WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE GARAGE. FINALLY WHEN THEY FIGURED THAT I'VE WAITED LONG ENOUGH, THE ONLY THING THEY TOLD ME WAS THAT I HAD A BAD OXYGEN SENSOR, SHOCKER, SINCE I ALREADY KNEW THIS BECAUSE I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE WERE THEY RAN THE CODE, FOR FREE. CHYRLSER SAID IT WOULD BE AROUND $300 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I WAS LIVID WHEN THEY TOLD ME THIS AND ASKED THEM TO BREAK DOWN THE $300 COST BECAUSE I KNEW FOR FACT THAT THE PARTS WERE KNOW MORE THAN $50. THEY TOLD ME PARTS WERE $63, AND THE REST WAS LABOR. ARE YOU FOR REAL. IT TAKES LITERALLY 2 MINUTES TO CHANGE OUT AN OXYGEN SENSOR, ALL YOU DO IS UNPLUG THE OLD ONE AND INSERT THE NEW ONE. I WOULD DO IT MYSELF IF I HAD A CAR LIFT. I EVENTUALLY ENDED UP TAKING THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO PRECEDED TO FIX MY CAR FOR ONLY $100. SURPRISE SURPRISE, 2 DAYS LATER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. I TAKE IT BACK TO DODGE WHO AGAIN CHARGES ME ANOTHER $99 ONLY TO TELL ME THAT THE MECHANIC "CHANGED THE WRONG ON", REALLY, OK, NOT. TOOK BACK TO THE OTHER MECHANIC WHO CHANGED OUT OTHER O2 SENSOR FOR FREE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STOPPED ABRUPTLY, THE POWER STEERING WAS DISABLED, THE RADIO DIED AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE MESSAGE BOARD FLASHED. THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THE NEXT DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE INTERGRATED POWER MODULE WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE ADVISOR EXPLAINED THAT THE INTERGRATED POWER MODULE IS THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS THE FUSE BOX. WHEN THE PROPER SIGNALS CAN NOT MAKE IT TO THE COMPUTER, IT CAUSES EVERYTHING WIRED TO THE FUSE BOX TO SHUT DOWN. UNFORTUNATELY, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN ON JULY 6, 2010. THE CONSUMER WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF. THE FOLLOWING DAY, SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE, SWITCHED THE GEAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, ALL POWER WAS LOST AND ALL THE MESSAGE BOARD LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING. SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE, PUT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, IT STARTED WITH NO DIFFICULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY ERROR CODES AND THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. *JB

S10 APPROPRIATE HANDLING-EMAIL FROM RE PROBLEM WITH HER 2009 DODGE CHARGER. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED QUICKLY. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE REALIZED SHE NEED TO DO SOMETHING, SO SHE TURNED THE KEY OFF THEN BACK ON. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO HESITATE AND THEN STARTED MOVING AGAIN. THE CONSUMER IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT UPON INSPECTION THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. HOWEVER, THEY DID ORDER A NEW COMPUTER TO BE INSTALLED. THE NEW COMPUTER WAS FINALLY INSTALLED AND IT WAS ASSUMED EVERYTHING WAS FINE, UNTIL THE VEHICLE STARTED EXHIBITING ISSUES ONE MORNING AS SHE WAS LEAVING FOR WORK. IT TOOK THREE TRIES TO START THE VEHICLE. SO, THE DEALER PERFORMED ANOTHER REPAIR WHICH WAS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE IGNITION COILS. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM CHRYSLER WAS SCHEDULED TO TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE. PRIOR TO HIM ARRIVING, THE DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AGAIN. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED AGAIN, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *JB
