Sep 2, 2025 Crash

Airbags did not deploy at impact.

Jun 15, 2025

The vehicle was sold under deceptive business practices. I inspected the vehicle and seen the tire (side wall) was badly damaged and the vehicle did not even run as mentioned in the description. The safety was in jeopardy and the seller made false claims for me to believe the vehicle was safe and ready to drive.

The driver side air bag in the roof of the car deployed when the engine was not on, and no one was in the vehicle. The car was parked in the driveway of the insured's residence when the air bag deployed. No visible damage to the exterior of the vehicle indicating a collision. The vehicle has been inspected by the local Dodge dealership (Mac Haik, Georgetown, TX), with no known cause of the air bag failure identified. Damage has been estimated at $6,700 to replace interior parts including the air bag and multiple sensors. Weather was noted by the owner of the vehicle as a potential cause, although research suggests that air bags SHOULD NOT deploy if the car engine is not running, when parked, and no one is in the vehicle regardless of weather conditions. Statements found that a cause could be airbag control module failure, wiring issues, sensor misinterpretation, which should lead to an investigation into the quality and workmanship of parts installed in the vehicle, with no liability for the owner. At no point was there any warning or indication of air bag or sensor failures/malfunctions.

This recall has been open for Almost 6 months. The 2020 Dodge charger SRT (specific trim) on NHTSA site shows zero open recalls. But then the vin shows 1 recall which has been open for 6months. I am told by the dealer the SRT trim for it does not have a recall as even NHTSA shows 2020 Dodge Charger SRT (0 recalls) . Please update this to reflect my vin with no open recalls as it is affecting my work and business with it being either reported incorrectly and not being resolved for almost 6 months now. Greatly appreciate your help.

August 1st 2023, my vehicle was parked in my driveway, approx 1pm PST, i heard a loud bang come from outside. I went to the vehicle and found that the cylinder that would normally hold air for hte side curtain airbag had exploded inside of the vehicle. It sent metal shrapnel all over the interiour of the cabin, into the drivers headrest and then thru the roof of the vehicle. The airbag did NOT deploy only the metal cylinder exploded. The car was not running, and had not run all day, there is no dash lights prior or after the explosion. I spoke to Dodge who opened a case internally and advised i take it to my dealer.

Jul 14, 2023 Crash

On July 1, 2023, I was driving on the I-20 going approximately 70 mph close to mile marker 167 in Talladega County, Alabama, when something hit my windshield causing me to swerve off the road and hitting the side railing. The the front end and the driver's side of the vehicle was smashed in and my vehicle was totaled. However, none of the airbags in my 2020 Dodge Charger ever deployed. I did not require medical assistance immediately after the accident, but my concern is that the airbags should have deployed during the accident during the accident. By the airbags not going off my safety was put at risk. If this is a problem in other 2020 Dodge Chargers other people's safety is being put at risk. The vehicle was inspected by my insurance, Progressive, for property damage evaluation. They concluded that the vehicle was totaled. There were no signs or warnings prior to the accident that there was an issue with the airbags. I have also checked for recalls using the vehicle's VIN and there were no safety recalls.
