*Incomplete Recall Status* ***Defect in transfer case*** Complaint of Manufacturer Defect in 2005 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 3.7l v6. While driving at a speed of 30mph on a smooth paved highway and selector switch turned to 2 wheel drive mode; out of nowhere, the transfer case tried to engage 4 High which resulted in SVC 4X4 warning lamp illumination and a loud grinding/stuttering sound from under carriage as well as halting me to 10 mph without any help from me. after pulling over on the roadside and putting truck in park and turning the engine off, i waited a couple of minutes and SVC 4X4 indicator and 4High dash light had gone. I restarted the truck only to find that the SVC 4X4 Warning lamp immediately returned and now the 4lo illuminated dash light is constantly showing and truck is still showing in 2 wheel drive with selector switch but 4x4 will not engage at all now. Took to a mechanic shop 1/2 mile down the road and had it read for any DTCs and inspected. Code came back as C1404. Transfer case still tries to engage as soon as truck door is opened and dome light comes on. SVC 4X4 warning indicator stays on the dash lit up and 4lo warning light flashes non stop. Manufacturers communication letter has been sent to dealerships for the proper installation steps of the transfer case on the model of my truck due to improper positioning. I have noticed no Recall but have found a Campaign ID listed for this issue. I've owned this truck for only DAYS now with the intention of presenting it to daughter for her 16th birthday next month and now there's a BIG concern here for safety and the fact that a recall hasn't been issued is crazy! ....it's completely absurd and should be escalated immediately until a consumer resolution is made. This truck is NOT safe at all with this defect by manufacturer transfer case! I am demanding that this faulty part be investigated and taken considerable responsibility for just for the amount of time allowed to pass!!

WHILE DRIVING ON I-635 NORTHBOUND AT AROUND 25 TO 30 MPH WITH 4X4 ACTIVATED ON A SINGLE LINE AVAILABLE SINCE IT WAS CLEARED AND SALTED. WITHOUT WARNING I WAS THE ONLY VEHICLE THAT VEERED RIGHT HARD AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ALMOST CRASHING ONTO THE METAL BEAM ALONG THE HIGHWAY. I WENT PAST THE SHOULDER AND DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF HILL, BUT THANKFULLY VEHICLE DIDN'T TURN OFF. I HAD TO SWITCH OFF 4X4 AND BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO CLIMB UP DESPITE THE SNOW BACK TO THE HIGHWAY WITH NO FURTHER REOCCURRENCE. UNFORTUNATELY WHEN THIS HAPPENED MY PASSENGER SEAT WENT FORWARD AND IS NOW STUCK AND I BROKE LEVER TRYING TO BRING IT BACK FROM FRONT RECLINING. BECAUSE OF THE ROUGH TERRAIN THE REAR QUARTER PANELS WHERE THE WAS SOME RUST HAVE CRACKED

CAME TO A STOP BEHIND 2 VEHICLES IN LEFT TURN LANE. WHEN TRAFFIC LIGHT GREEN ARROW CAME AND ACCELERATED THERE WAS A LOUD BANG AND TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE. CAR BEHIND SKIDDED TO A STOP TO AVOID TRUCK. TRIED REVERSE AND DRIVE WITH NO AFFECT THEN LOOKING UNDER TRUCK THER WAS REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL PUDDLING UNDER CENTER PUMPKIN. GROUP OF PEOPLE HELPED PUSHED TRUCK INTO LOT BACKWARDS SINCE WOULD ROLL FORWARD. TOWED BACK TO WORK AND INSPECTED NEXT DAY 8/3/19 AND PINION NUT HAD BACKED OFF. PULLED DIFF COVER AND FOUND SEVERAL CHUNKS OF METAL FROM DAMAGE. BUILD DATE 08/04 152,000 MILES WITH 9 1/4 REAREND. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE RAM 1500 WITH SAME REAR END AND WITHIN THIS BUILD DATE. WOULD NOT THE DAKOTA ALSO BE INCLUDED? L

APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AGO FROM THIS COMPLAINT, WHILE DRIVING THE AFOREMENTIONED VEHICLE (2005 DODGE DAKOTA) DURING NORMAL, SUMMER TIME ROAD CONDITIONS, WRITER NOTICED THAT THE "SVC 4WD" WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES BEFORE TURNING OFF. LIGHT DIDN'T ILLUMINATE AGAIN UNTIL SUNDAY, 09/09/2018. WHEN UNLOCKING THE VEHICLE USING THE VEHICLE'S REMOTE UNLOCK ON THE KEY, WRITER NOTICED A SOUND THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE VEHICLE ENGAGING THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE MECHANISMS. WRITER STARTED THE VEHICLE, NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, AND THE SERVICE LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. DURING THE COURSE OF THIS WEEK, THE SERVICE LIGHT HAS INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED ON OCCASION, REMAINING ON FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, THEN TURNS OFF. TODAY, 09/14/2018, WHEN LEAVING MY WORK FOR AN ERRAND, I NOTED THAT THE "SVC 4WD" LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. WRITER NOTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO, IN FACT, IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, AS THE VEHICLE WAS "SKIPPING" THE TIRES WHILE TURNING AND EXHIBITING SIGNS OF A VEHICLE IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE WHILE DRIVING ON DRY PAVEMENT. WRITER NOTED THAT THE "4WD CONTROL KNOB" WAS IN THE 2WD POSITION. WRITER PARKED THE VEHICLE AND MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, WHILE BOTH IN PARK AND NEUTRAL, TO ENGAGE THE 4WD AND DISENGAGE USING THE 4WD CONTROL KNOB. NONE OF THESE ACTIONS WERE ABLE TO DISENGAGE THE TRANSFER CASE. WRITER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO MY DESTINATION, (APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES), NOTING UPON MY ARRIVAL THAT THE SERVICE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ANY LONGER. WRITER ALSO NOTES ELECTRICAL SYMPTOMS SUCH AS VEHICLE NOW HONKS AFTER LOCKING WITH THE REMOTE LOCK ON THE KEY. COMPLAINT IS CONCERNING SPONTANEOUS ENGAGEMENT OF THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE MECHANISM, WITHOUT CAUSE, POSSIBLY RELATED TO DEFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE TIPM.

MINE IS THE 2005 DODGE DAKOTA EXTRA CAB AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING/SHEARING AT THE ENGINE BLOCK. THIS CAN CAUSE (AND IT HAS) A TICKING SOUND THAT GETS LOUDER AS YOU ACCELERATE. ONCE YOU HEAR THE TICKING SOUND, BOTH SIDES OF THE ENGINE ARE AFFECTED. THIS RESULTS IN POOR MILEAGE, OVERHEATING, ENGINE WILL STALL AT LOW IDLE, ULTIMATELY ALLOWING EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE CABIN, POTENTIALLU, POISONING THE OCCUPANTS WITH CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES. I TOOK THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEN REPLACED. THE 1ST DEALER SAID IT WASN'T REPAIRABLE. 2ND ONE SAID, 1400 $ PER SIDE TO EXTRACT BROKEN BOLTS AT THE REAR OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON BOTH SIDES OF MY 4.7 . 3RD REPAIR SHOP TOLD ME THIS VERY COMMON ON THE 4.7 AND HE DOES ABOUT 10 A WEEK. HIS PRICE WAS 350 $ PER SIZE PLUS GASKET AND DOUGHNUT GASKET AT THE COLLECTOR. HEY! IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM WHY ARE WE DODGE OWNERS BEING HOSTAGE BY HAVING TO MAKE THIS REPAIR OURSELVES AND PAY FOR IT? IT IS AN EMMISIONS ENGINEERING UNDERDESIGN THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED. IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND GET THIS SITUATION CORRECTED BEFORE SOME INNOCENT CHILD DIES FROM CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERING THE CABIN. NOT TO MENTION OTHER POTENTIAL HAZARDS THAT MAY OCCUR BECAUSE THE DRIVER IS OVERWHELMED BY CARBON MONOXIDE AND RUNS DOWN 78 PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY PASSED OUT FROM THE CARBON MONOIXIDE FILLED CABIN WHILE DRIVING. AFTER STRAIGHTENING THE TRUCK AND SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL, THE PROBLEM WILL BE RESOLVED. ADDITIONALLY, THE "SERVICE 4WD" LIGHT OR "4LO" LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE WHILE DRIVING, BUT THE TRANSFER CASE DOES NOT APPEAR TO ACTUALLY SHIFT. NO DAMAGE TO DRIVE TRAIN SO FAR. THIRDLY, THE TRANSFER CASE WILL SHIFT WHILE THE TRUCK IS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE IGNITION IS OFF, AND THE KEY REMOVED, WITH NO-ONE IN THE VEHICLE. I CAN HEAR THE SHIFT MOTOR TRYING TO ENGAGE.

FOR THE PAST 10,000 MILES OR SO, IT HAS BEEN SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND LO 4X4 RANDOMLY BY ITSELF WITHOUT ANY HUMAN INTERACTION. EVEN SITTING PARKED YOU COULD HEAR IT CYCLING AND SHIFTING ELECTRONICALLY IN AND OUT OF 4X4. I RECENTLY PARKED IT IN A GRASS FIELD NEAR A POND AND LEFT IT - WAS WORKING FINE WHEN I PULLED IN. CAME BACK ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, GOT IN, STARTED IT AND TRIED TO GO... NOTHING AT ALL. IT HAD SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL (RED "N" LIGHTED) AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR FORWARD OR REVERSE. ROLLED FREELY NOW BOTH DIRECTIONS. HAD TO GET IT TOWED OUT OF THE FIELD AND UP TO THE ROADWAY AND THEN ANOTHER COMPANY TO COME LOAD IT AND TOW IT TO THE SHOP. SEARCHED ONLINE - THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR INSTANCES ABOUT THIS VEHICLE SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEARS RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN. WHY HASN'T THIS ELECTRONIC SHIFTING MECHANISM BEEN RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED? MY TRUCK EASILY ROLLED REGARDLESS OF THE SHIFTING POSITION. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM ACROSS THE INTERNET WITH OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. WE'VE KNOWN THE TRANSMISSION HAS HAD ISSUES FOR A WHILE, BUT (WARRANTY COMPANY) HAS A THEORY OF CAN'T REPLICATE IT, WON'T FIX IT .AND THAT IS WHAT OCCURRED. ON 3/23 WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH, THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO ELECTRONICALLY SHIFT INTO 4LO FROM 2WD, A SYSTEM THAT SHOULD ONLY FUNCTION UNDER 20MPH. IT FAILED TO ENGAGE, CAUSING GRINDING NOISES FROM THE TRANSAXLE CASE AND A SLOW STOP ON SIDE OF INTERSTATE. UPON LATER INSPECTION BY A IN NETWORK REPAIR FACILITY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO PRODUCE A PCM CODE AND MECHANICALLY COULD NOT BE REPLICATED IN THE 2 HRS AT THE SHOP. UPON TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND EXITING WITH THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE TRANSFER CASE CAN BE HEARD ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE GEARS, EVEN WITH THE KEY IN THE OFF POSITION AND AFTER A NUMBER OF SECONDS HAVE PASSED. UPON SLOWING TO ENTER A GARAGE THE TRUCK SLOWED FURTHER AS IF IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL (SVC 4WD DASH LIGHT CAME ON) BUT REGAINED POWER. AFTER PARKING, THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF BUT I BEGAN TO HEAR MECHANICAL NOISES FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE. WHEN DEPARTING LATER IN THE DAY, THE SAME SLOWING MOTION STARTED AS I EMERGED FROM THE GARAGE BUT THE TRUCK REGAINED FULL POWER AND OPERATED NORMALLY. AFTER ARRIVING HOME, I PARKED AND LOCKED THE TRUCK FROM MY KEY FOB BUT AGAIN THE UNDERCARRIAGE NOISES STARTED AGAIN AND SOUNDED LIKE THE POWER LOCKS WERE RUNNING AMOK. A COUPLE DAYS LATER, THE SAME OCCURRENCE. TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY TRUSTED GARAGE (NOT A DODGE DEALER) WHO CALLED DODGE (NO CLUE) AND ANOTHER MECHANIC HOTLINE SERVICE TO CHECK FOR ANY TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS/RECALLS, BUT NO GOOD RESULTS. NEXT, THE CHIEF MECHANIC ROAD TESTED THE TRUCK AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE UNDERCARRIAGE NOISE BUT DID SEE THE SVC 4WD DASH LIGHT. THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED WITH AN ADMONISHMENT TO RETURN IF IT CROPS UP AGAIN. TWO DAYS LATER IT DID AND I RETURN WHERE UPON DRIVING UP, THE CHIEF MECHANIC HEARD THE NOISES AND DECLARED IT WAS TRYING TO SHIFT INTO 4WD. BY THIS TIME I WAS SEEING THE 4 HI DASH LIGHT IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER WARNING LIGHT.THE TEAM AT THE GARAGE WENT BACK TO WORK AND CONTACTED ANOTHER MECHANIC HELPLINE THAT WASTED NO TIME IN IDENTIFYING THE ISSUE. AS A MATTER OF FACT, AFTER EXPLAINING THE SITUATION THE HELPLINE GUY ASKED IF THE TRUCK HAD ROLLED ON IT'S OWN - BECAUSE IF IT HAS NOT IT WOULD EVENTUALLY. THE PINION GEAR SHAFT TO MY DIFFERENTIAL SHEARED OFF JUST AFT OF THE TAPERED ROLLER BEARING IN THE FRONT OF THE HOUSING. THE PORTION OF THE SHAFT STILL ATTACHED TO THE DRIVE SHAFT THROUGH THE UNIVERSAL JOINT AND THE ROLLER BEARING PULLED OUT OF THE HOUSING AND FELL TO THE GROUND. THIS APPEARS TO BE A FATIGUE FAILURE OF THE GEAR SHAFT. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON A MAINTAINED DIRT ROAD. NO MODIFICATIONS OF ANY KIND HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE AND ASIDE FROM OCCASIONAL USE ON MAINTAINED DIRT ROADS, NO OFF-ROADING OR OTHER SEVERE DRIVING CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN ENCOUNTERED. CONSIDERING THE MILEAGE AND LIGHT USAGE OF THIS VEHICLE, THIS IS A VERY UNEXPECTED FAILURE. A GEAR SHAFT OF THIS TYPE SHOULD NOT FAIL, CERTAINLY NOT BEFORE THE U-JOINT ITSELF. THIS WOULD THEN SEEM TO MOST LIKELY BE A RESULT OF A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THIS IS CLEARLY A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS THIS FAILURE IS FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY THE DRIVE SHAFT DRAGGING ON THE GROUND AND A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. I TRIED TO TAKE IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP IN SANTA MARIA CA TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REPAIR IT SINCE IT WAS A ONGOING ISSUE BUT INFORMED ME THAT IT'S NOT AND WOULD COST $2200. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DAKOTA SLT. I PURCHASED IT IN 10/2005. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT IT. RECENTLY I HAD TO REPLACED THE TIRE RODS, SWAY BAR AND LINKAGE, BRAKES, CALIPERS, AND ROTORS. TWO DAYS AFTER I HAD ALL OF THESE THINGS FIXED I NOTICED THAT THE TRUCK WAS STILL SHAKING AND MAKING A LOT OF NOISE. WHEN I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO DODGE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR AXLE IN THE TRUCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT WHEN THE TRUCK WAS MANUFACTURED THE WRONG SIZE AXLE WAS PUT IN THE TRUCK. THIS CAUSED ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD THAT OTHER PARTS ARE DAMAGED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AND REPAIRED.(REAR BRAKE SHOES, FRONT DISC ROTORS) I WAS TOLD THAT THE AXLE PART IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT I HAVE TO PAY THE $100 DEDUCTIBLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE 2005 DODGE DAKOTA 4X4 BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR ON JULY 24, 2006. SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. 1) BUZZING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE ALSO IN REVERSE. 2) TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN DRIVE AND REVERSE WHEN GOING UP A STEEP INCLINE. THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT DOWNSHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR WHEN DRIVING UP A HILL, HAVE TO PUT TRANSMISSION IN 2ND GEAR TO DRIVE UP A STEEP HILL. 3) TRUCK HAS TO COME ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS INTO 1ST GEAR. 4) AFTER THE TRUCK HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR A WHILE, THERE IS A METALLIC "CLANKING" NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING GEARS. 5) THE FRONT AXLES (DRIVESHAFTS) ARE MAKING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN EXECUTING A SHARP TURN WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. 6) WHEN IN PARK WITH THE TRUCK TURNED OFF THERE IS A LOT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, IT WILL NOT LOCK INTO PLACE WHEN THE KEY IS REMOVED. *NM

I PURCHASED A 2005 DODGE DAKOTA AND 6 MONTHS AFTER MY PURCHASE THE VEHICLES IDLER WAS JUMPING FROM 1 TO 3 AND THEN VEHICLE DIES. IT CONTINUES TO THIS. I HAVE BRINGING MY TRUCK IN TO BE SERVICED SENSE 11-2005 AND 2 MONTHS AGO I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE ISSUE. THE MORE THE CONTACT TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT THE WHEELS TENDED TO STICK AND NOT WANT TO ROLL. THE FRONT WHEELS TENDED TO LOCK IF TURNING IT ALL THE WAY TO RIGHT OR LEFT. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET CHRYSLER TO FIX THE VIBRATION/OR WOBBLING SENSATION IN MY 05 DODGE DAKOTA SINCE OCTOBER. THEY DID REPLACE THE AXLES BUT THE TRUCK STILL VIBRATES. THEY WILL NOT WORK ON MY TRUCK- THEY SAY EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AND I DISAGREE. I BELIEVE THERE ARE SAFETY ISSUES HERE. MY 3.7 V6 ENGINE HAS A LOWER ENGINE KNOCK AT SLOW IDLES. THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE SOUND OR SAY IT IS NORMAL. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD TO FINALLY HIRE A LAWYER FOR ADVICE. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY HEATER NOT WORKING AND TRANSMISSION/REAR END MAKING UNEXPLAINED NOISES. 2005 DODGE DAKOTA TILT STEERING DOES NOT WORK, BRAKES SHUDDERED. *TS ***NO ANSWER REQUIRED*** IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THE BRAKE BUT THAT THE REAR AXLE HAD BEEN MILLED INCORRECTLY CAUSING THE BRAKES TO SHUDDER AND VIBRATE. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH THE BRAKES SHUDDERED AND LOCKED UP. AS A RESULT HE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE BRAKES WERE CHECKED. ALL 2005 DODGE DAKOTAS WERE BUILT MISSING SOME OF ITS TRAILER TOW PACKAGE OPTIONS, FIRST IS THE AUX. TRANS COOLER, SECOND IS THE HEAVYDUTY COOLING SYSTEM, I COMPARED MINE TO EVERYONE ON THE LOT AND THEY WERE ALL BUILT THE SAME WAY. I FELL AS IF CHRYSLER IS MISS LEADING THE CONSUMER. I CONTACTED CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO GET THE RUN AROUND AND I WAS ALWAYS REFERRED BACK TO THE DEALER WHO IN MY OPINION WAS NOT ONLY RUDE, REFUSED TO RETURN MY PHONE CALLS, ALTHOUGH I AM VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THE DEALERS RESPONCE IN THE MATTER, I IM VERY UPSET WITH CHRYSLER DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE THE COMPANY WHO MADE AND ADVERTISED THE VEH. I PURCHASED MY 05 DODGE DAKOTA QUAD CAB IN MAY 2005. APPROX. 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASE I STARTED EXPERIENCING SEVERE VIBRATION WHEN TRYING TO COME TO A STOP OR SLOW DOWN ESPECIALLY OVER 40 MPH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH I PURCHASED (SERVICE DEPT) AND THEY TOLD ME THE REAR AXLE IS OUT OF FACTORY SPECS. THEY REPLACED MY REAR AXLE & DRUMS. THIS TOOK 5 DAYS. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE IN MID JULY, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPT. (IT IS STILL THERE AND IT HAS BEEN 12 DAYS) THEY TELL ME THEY HAVE REPLACED THE AXLE 5 TIMES AND THE VIBRATION IS STILL THERE. I CONTACTED DIAMLERCHYSLER AND THEY ARE SENDING A REP. FROM THEIR OFFICE TO TRY AND REPAIR. I HAVE ALREADY FILED FOR THE LEMON LAW (DEFECTIVE VEHICLE FORM) AS I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN 15 DAYS. STILL HAVE NOT HEARD A THING FROM THE DEALERSHIP OR FROM DAIMLERCHRYSLER.

DT:CONSUMER BOUGHT NEW VEHICLE, DODGE DAKOTA, CONSUMER FOUND THAT WHEN HE TRIED TO BACK OUT OF A NEIGHBOR'S DRIVEWAY THAT WAS ON AN INCLINE VEHICLE BOGGED. VEHICLE ROLLED FORWARD INTO THE ROAD. CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE SAME AS PREVIOUS YEAR DODGE INTREPID. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN REVERSE THE TRANSMISSION AUTOMATICALLY WENT TO SECOND GEAR. VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO CLIME ON INCLINE IN REVERSE BECAUSE OF TRANSMISSION BEING IN SECOND GEAR. CONSUMER SAYS THAT WHEN VEHICLE WOULD CLIMB HILL THAT THERE WAS A SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING, THE SMELL CAME FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. DEALER STATES THAT ALL DAKOTAS 2005 WITH 6 CYLINDERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, AND DEALER CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM.*AK

BOOTS FOR FRONT CV JOINTS ARE VERY NOISY WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED ALL THE WAY EITHER DIRECTION. I TOOK IT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND THEY SPRAYED SOME SILICONE LUBRICANT ON THEM WHICH QUIETED THEM FOR ABOUR 4 DAYS.. THEN THEY WERE LOUD AGAIN. I'M WORRIED THAT THE DRY BOOTS WILL EVENTUALLY CRACK, LEAKING OUT THE GREASE AND DESTROYING THE CV JOINT ITSELF. (WHICH CHRYSLER WILL BLAME ON ME)
