WELL MY CAR HEADLIGHT AND THE PANELING CAUGHT ON FIRE IN MY CAR WENT TO CAR HOP TO ADVISE THEM TOOK THE CAR TO ONE OF THERE DEALERS ADVISED THAT THEY DON'T DO ELECTRICAL AT THE SAME TIME THE RECALL CAME IN ADVISED ME THAT A RECALL WAS NEEDED TOO K IT TO DEALERSHIP AND AS OF NOW 30 DAYS BEHIND ON THE PART ADVISED CARHOP THAT THE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE BEFORE I BROUGHT THE CAR THAT WASN'T DONE CORRECTLY WHICH MADE ME HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RECALL WORK THEY SWEAR THEY DIDN'T BIT THE STATE AND CARFAX SAY OTHERWISE IT WASN'T DONE BY DODGE IN NO STATE BUT BY THERE MECHANICS AT THIS TIME THE CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IT'S STILL AT DODGE AND CARHOP SAID THEY WILL RESELL IT TO ANOTHER FAMILY EVEN THOUGH I ADVISED THEM THE PANEL CAUGHT ON FIRE AND THERE IS A SHORT

DODGE WAS ABLE TO LIMIT THE PROBLEM HOWEVER RAN ROUGH AND AT ABOUT 45000 MILES CAR SHIFTED HARD NOW AT 70000 DODGE TELLS ME IT'S THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY. 3,000 DOLLAR REPAIR. AT THIS POINT CAR IS NOT WORTH 3000. STILL SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE IS RECALLED FOR THE 2013 DART HOWEVER NOT MY VIN# ????? I SEE TONS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES EVEN CASES AGAINST DODGE FOR THIS MODEL. HOWEVER THEY ARE UNWILLING TO HELP ME OUT WITH ANY ISSUES I BRING TO THEIR ATTENTION. UNFORTUNATE. FOR ME.

I DID NOT ACCEPT THE OFFER AND NOW I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. THERE'S AN ACTIVE RECALL ON MY 2013 DODGE DART AERO FOR THE SHIFTING CABLE BUSHING. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, MY CAR WASN'T REGISTERING IT WAS IN PARK SO I COULDN'T TURN IT OFF. I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP ON MAIN STREET IN NORRISTOWN, PA. MOPAR SAID THE PART WON'T BE SHIPPED TO DEALERS FOR THE RECALL UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST SO THEY WANT TO PUT ANOTHER FAULTY PART IN. THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AND MOPAR SAYS THEY ARE NOT DOING AT REPAYMENTS. THEY HAVE ALSO REFUSED TO GIVE ME A LOANER CAR IN THE MEAN TIME. I DON'T FEEL AS A CONSUMER THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS OR A RENTAL BECAUSE THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER SEIZED WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECALL IF A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AKINS FORD (LOCATED AT 220 W MAY ST, WINDER, GA 30680, (770) 867-9136) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS NOT AWARE OF WHAT WAS DIAGNOSED OR REPLACED, BUT BELIEVED IT PERTAINED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V293000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR THE GEAR SHIFTER AND NOT THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

DODGE DARTS OF THIS MODEL YEAR INCLUDING MINE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TURBOCHARGER. PROBLEMS WITHIN THE SETUP CREATE A "TURBO UNDERBOOST" CONDITION, WHICH PROMPTS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND THROWS THE CAR INTO LIMP MODE. THIS IS OFTEN ACCOMPANIED BY A LACK OF POWER FROM THE ENGINE AND A ROUGH IDLE, OR STALLING AT IDLE. IN MY CASE IT HAPPENED WHILE I LEAVING A CITY, AND I DID NOT HAVE THE POWER TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED. AFTER PULLING OVER AND RE-STARTING THE CAR, THIS ISSUE IS TEMPORARILY RESOLVED. THIS IS SUCH AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR THAT THERE IS A NORTH AMERICA WIDE BACK-ORDER ON THE NEW-TURBO WITH THIS ISSUE CORRECTED. FOR MANY LIKE ME, THIS EXPENSE IS OUT-POCKET OR FOR A LUCKY FEW, STILL COVERED BY FACTORY WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THAT THE FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE WARRANTS A RECALL AND PROPER FIX IF THE TURBOCHARGER SETUP. THE ISSUE IS CORRECTED ON 2014+ MODEL YEARS, WHICH IS AN INDICATION THAT FCA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER A WHILE AND "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT CALLED MARINO PARK DODGE CHRYSLER (5133 W IRVING PARK RD, CHICAGO, IL 60641, (773) 777-2000) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT NEW SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A REMEDY. THE CONTACT WAS PLACED ON AN EMAIL LIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.

THERE IS HEAT THAT CONSISTENTLY EMANATES INTO THE CAR FROM THE AREA WHERE THE WIRING HARNESS OR FUSE BOX WOULD BE. I'VE HAD IT LOOKED AT AND MECHANICS CONTINUE TO SAY THAT THE FUSE BOX IS FINE BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE HARNESS. THE PROBLEMS IS SO BAD THAT THE HEAT OVER TIME HAS LED TO BAD PAINT DAMAGE TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR. THE PAINT IS COMPLETELY DULL. THE DISCOLORATION IS BEYOND OBVIOUS AND NOTICEABLE. THE HEAT BEGINS TO BE A PROBLEM ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER TURNING IT ON.

THE PARKING BRAKE HAS FAILED ON TWO OCCASIONS, ONCE WHILE STATIONARY WHEN IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT CRASHED INTO A CAR IN THEIR PARKING LOT IN 2016. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE LAST FOUR YEARS. IT WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP IN 2015-2016 THIRTEEN TIMES FOR OIL LEAKS AND THE ENGINE EITHER DYING OR ALMOST SEIZING WHILE IN MOTION. THIS RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE STARTING ON FIRE IN LATE 2016 EARLY 2017. THE REPAIR FOR THE FIRE DAMAGE WAS COVERED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND IT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY FIXED BY A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AFTER THAT. MORE RECENTLY, IT WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND ROLLED INTO MY TRUCK AND DAMAGED THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE'S BUMPER WHILE STATIONARY WITH THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE SYMPTOMS WITH THE ENGINE HAVE ALSO STARTED TO REAPPEAR WHILE IN MOTION IN 3RD OR 4TH GEAR... IT STARTS TO ACT LIKE IT'S GOING TO COMPLETELY DIE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I HAVE IT BACK IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS. SOME OF THE RECALLS LISTED ON THIS WEBSITE SOUND LIKE THINGS I HAVE EXPERIENCED, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO. THE DEALER (BAXTER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OMAHA (17950 BURT ST, OMAHA, NE 68118, (402) 800-1230) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME BECAUSE A PORCELAIN PIECE SURROUNDING THE CENTER ELECTRODE FRACTURED AND A PLUG CAME OUT OF A PISTON TOP ASSOCIATED WITH THE CYLINDER WALLS, WHICH DAMAGED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, THE TURBO, AND THE LONG BLOCK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PARTS. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE OEM PARTS THAT WERE REPLACED CAUSED THE FAILURES BECAUSE, AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MESSAGE DISAPPEAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF, SO THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. YESTERDAY, ON JULY 8, 2018, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 75, GOING ABOUT 65 MPH, AND THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE POPPED UP AGAIN. I HAD TO PULLED TO THE SIDE OR THE INTERSTATE AGAIN, BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE. I TURNED IT OFF AGAIN AND WAITED FOR 5 MINS AND I WAS ABLE TO EASE BACK TO MY HOME. AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE DEALERSHIP STILL CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO PAY FOR A CLUTCH REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY/ KNOWN ISSUE ON THE MASTER CYLINDER AND HYDRAULIC FLUID LEAKING THROUGHOUT CLUTCH COMPONENTS. ALSO HAD THE TURBO AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET REPLACED AT 20,000 MILES AFTER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND VEHICLE LOST POWER. AT ONE POINT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALMOST ALL POWER WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO I-95 IN WASHINGTON DC, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT TOOK 4 TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE RECREATED AND EVENTUALLY FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE STOPPED WORKING AT ABOUT 15,000 MILES BUT I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ONE AFFECTED BY THE CALIPER RECALL. PAID FOR CALIPER REPLACEMENT OUT OF POCKET. THE 2013 DODGE DART WITH THE 1.4L TURBO ENGINE WAS A VEHICLE MADE THAT WAS MADE IN MURPHY'S LAW (EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG, WILL GO WRONG). SINCE PURCHASING THIS USED VEHICLE IN 2016 WITH 43,000 MILES ON THE ENGINE I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. THE FIRST ISSUE I HAVE HAD WAS THE TURBO. I HAD TO HAVE THE TURBO REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY (COMMON ISSUE). THEN, MULTIPLE INSTRUMENT GAUGE FAILURES. NEXT, SEVERAL CLUTCH PROBLEMS (CLUTCH STICKING TO THE FLOOR EVEN WHEN DRIVING). THIS ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED AS THE DEALER DOES NOT BELIEVE THIS TO BE AN ISSUE. IF RESEARCHED IT WILL SHOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THOUSANDS HAVE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THEN, NEXT SET OF ISSUES BEGAN WITH MULTIPLE CALIPER SEIZINGS. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC OTHER THAN THE DEALERSHIP. THEY DETERMINED THAT THESE PARTS WERE FAULTY AND SUFFERED FROM A RECALL THAT EFFECTED SEVERAL CARS. WHEN CALLING CUSTOMER CARE FOR DODGE. THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT INVOLVED WITH THAT SPECIFIC GROUP OF CARS. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET AND THEN SUFFERED THROUGH TWO ADDITIONAL CALIPER FAILURES. ALL REPAIRS OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. THIS IS ALSO ANOTHER COMMON ISSUE. NOW, I AM CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH A VALVE COVER GASKET FAILURE ON A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AT 75,000 MILES (COMMON ISSUE). NOW THAT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY ON A 5 YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE LAST TIME WAS ON A STRAIGHT AWAY GOING ABOUT 45 MPH THE STEERING AND BRAKES LOCKED UP AND I HAD TO FORCIBLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR HAS ALSO BEN IN THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES DUE TO ISSUES WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS, THE CENTRAL COMPUTER, AND THE DISPLAY SCREEN. OVERALL, THE CAR HAS OVER 30 PAGES OF SERVICE DONE ON IT, RANGING FORM 2,600 MILES TO 37,000 MILES. I JUST WAS INFORMED BY THE CHRYSLER RESOLUTION TEAM THAT MY CAR WILL NOT BE BOUGHT BACK OR NO COMPENSATION WILL BE GIVEN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE CURRENT PART TO FIX THE ISSUE AND THEY WOULD CONTACT ME. I WENT IN SEVERAL MONTHS LATER AND WAS ADVISED OF THE SAME ISSUE. IN JUNE OF 2016, THE GAUGES FLICKERED BUT THE VEHICLE TURNED ON. LATER ON THAT DAY THE VEHICLE DID NOT TURN ON AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. I REPLACED THE BATTERY. I WENT IN FOR MY REGULAR OIL CHANGE IN DECEMBER OF 2016 AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART TO FIX THE ISSUE AT THE MOMENT AND WOULD CONTACT ME. I INFORMED THEM THAT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS OCCURRED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT I COULD NOT GET THE OIL CHANGE UNLESS I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE THERE TO FIX THE ISSUE. I INQUIRED ABOUT GETTING A RENTAL DUE TO THE FACT OF ME NOT KNOWING HOW LONG THE VEHICLE WOULD REMAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT PROVIDE RENTAL VEHICLES. YESTERDAY, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE AN OIL CHANGE AND MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE RECALL RESOLVED. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. I WENT TO TURN ON MY VEHICLE AND THE BATTERY WAS ONCE AGAIN DRAINED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A DEALERSHIP CAN TELL ITS CUSTOMERS THAT THEY DO NOT ISSUE RENTAL VEHICLES WHEN IT IS PART OF A NATIONWIDE SAFETY RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP BLATANTLY DISREGARDED THE MY SAFETY.

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FILING A LEMON LAW CLAIM AGAINST CHRYSLER, A THREE YEAR OLD CAR THAT I PAID ALMOST $30,000 SHOULD NOT CAUSE SO MUCH STRESS. PROBLEMS SINCE DAY 1 WITH MY 2013 DODGE DART. THE CLUTCH WOULD STICK IN AND I WOULD HAVE TO POP IT UP WITH MY FOOT. I WOULD TAKE MY CAR IN AND EVEN LEFT IT FOR A COUPLE DAYS AND THEY JUST TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. AND THE "SPECIALIST" SAID WHAT I WAS TELLING THEM ABOUT THE CLUTCH WAS IMPOSSIBLE! SO I STARTED VIDEOING AND POSTING MY CLUTCH ISSUES ON YOUTUBE. THE RADIO SWITCHES STATIONS BY ITSELF, IT GOES OFF OR WON'T COME ON. I'VE HAD THE RADIO REPLACED AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING! I'VE HAD BATTERY ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY DRAINING AND ULTIMATELY BEING REPLACED. THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS ABOUT HALF THE TIME. DEALERSHIP ENDED UP REPLACING THE CLUTCH, HAD MY CAR BACK 2 DAYS AND THE CLUTCH WENT OUT AGAIN. JUNE 11TH 2015 TOOK MY CAR IN IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE REAR BRAKE STARTED STICKING. THEY HAD MY CAR TWO DAYS AND SAID THEY ADJUSTED THE BRAKE BUT COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE SOUND I HEARD COMING FROM MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE. SO TWO WEEKS GO BY AND I TAKE MY CAR BACK AGAIN DEMANDING THEY TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT IT. BY NOW THE RIGHT REAR CALIBER IS STUCK IN AND HAS RUINED MY ROTOR AND BRAKE PAD. LATER MY CAR STARTS SPITTING AND SPUTTERING. TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE ONLY THING THEY COULD FIND WRONG IS THE AIR FLOW PIPE TO THE TURBO WAS LOOSE AND THEY TIGHTENED IT. I DECIDED TO GO TO A NEW MECHANIC, HE SAID ONE OF MY IGNITION COILS BLEW. 8 MONTHS LATER MY CAR STARTS DOING THE SAME THING AND MY MECHANIC SAYS ANOTHER IGNITION COIL BLEW. AND HE CANNOT GET ONE FOR MY EXACT CAR BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL ON BACK ORDER WITH DODGE! HE ALSO INFORMS ME THAT THERE ARE 3 COMPUTERS IN MY CAR AND THEY ARE NOT TALKING TO EACH OTHER. IT TOOK THEM A WHILE TO FIGURE OUT IT WAS THE IGNITION COIL BECAUSE THE COMPUTER DID NOT ALERT THAT TO THEIR TESTER. THEN THINGS WERE GOING WELL UNTIL RECENTLY. I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN THE SHOP ABOUT 3 WEEKS IN A ROW. FIRST IT WAS ONE OF MY COILS THAT HAD BECOME INACTIVE. SO WHILE DRIVING IT THE CAR SHAKES AND STUTTERS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I TRY TO HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR STARTS SLOWING DOWN AND SHAKING. SO I HAD TAKEN IT TO ANOTHER SHOP TO LOOK AT IT BECAUSE FOR A NEW CAR IT IS NOT IN MY FINANCES TO BE PUTTING $400 INTO MY CAR EVERY WEEK. HAD TO GET THE PART ORDERED SO I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING MY CAR AROUND WITH ONE COIL INACTIVE. THEN IN THE MIDST OF ALL THIS HAPPENING, ONE WEEK AFTER THE COIL HAD OFFICIALLY WENT INACTIVE, IT WAS BACK IN THE SHOP BECAUSE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAME REALLY LOOSE AND WHEN I WASN'T MOVING THE CAR WOULD ROLL. WHICH MEANS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WASN'T DOING ITS JOB. SO THAT NIGHT I TOOK IT OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT YET AGAIN. THEY CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THAT MY LEFT REAR CALIBER HAD SEIZED WHICH IS DESCRIBED TO ME THAT IT WASN'T GRABBING AND RELEASING THE WHEEL LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE WHICH ALSO CAUSED MY BRAKES AND ROTORS TO WEAR SO MUCH THAT THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHICH THIS WAS SOMETHING I COULD NOT JUST LET GO, OR EVEN DRIVE THE CAR WITH, I HAD TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP OVER $400 TO JUST FIX MY CAR SO THAT I COULD DRIVE IT. THE REASON FOR THIS THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME WAS DUE TO LOW OIL, WHICH WE RECENTLY REALIZED USES AT LEAST 1/2 QUART PER 1,000 MILES. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS. THEY SAID THAT BEFORE 50,000 MILES IT IS WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS TO BURN 1 QUART FOR EVERY 1000 MILES AND AFTER 50,000 MILES IT IS NORMAL TO BURN 1 QUART FOR EVERY 750 MILES. THIS WAS NEVER DIVULGED TO ME WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT FIRST DID THIS STARTING AT 35,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 42,000 MILES. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY OIL LIGHT OR ANY OTHER ENGINE LIGHT THAT GOES ON BEFORE THE VEHICLE DIES. IT HAS LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN SOME VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR AND WHO WOULD WANT TO BUY IT FROM ME? TWO DEALERSHIPS HAVE TOLD ME THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THE ENGINE ON THIS CAR TO BURN LOTS OF OIL, TO DIE WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING IF THE OIL IS LOW, AND FOR THE OIL LIGHT NOT TO GO ON BECAUSE THE CAR WILL STOP RUNNING BEFORE THE SENSOR IS ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REBUILT BECAUSE THE GAUGE THAT REGULATES THE TEMPERATURE WAS NOT IN THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND PULLED TO THE LEFT WHILE TRAVELING 55 MPH. WHILE TRAVELING 25 MPH THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A CURB, WHICH CREATED A GASH IN THE TIRE AND THE RIM. FCA KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE, THEY'VE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 60,000, BUT MY CAR HAVING 83,XXX MILES THEY DON'T CARE. FIRST EXTENDED SERVICE CORPORATION WHO I PURCHASED AN "EXTENDED SERVICE AGREEMENT" THROUGH DOESN'T CARE EITHER. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR AND THE REPRESENTATIVE FLAT OUT TOLD ME "NO" AND HUNG UP. I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR WELL OVER A YEAR. I HAVE HAD MY DART FOR ALMOST 2 1/2 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM THE START. I HAVE HAD MY TCM REPLACED, TRANSMISSION, 2 CLUTCHES, NUMEROUS CODES AND SPEAKERS, GAS CAP, AND MULTIPLE RECALLS. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME 1,500-2,000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM, MONEY WHICH I DO NOT HAVE SO I TRADED IN MY CAR WITH NEGATIVE EQUITY, AND THE DEALERSHIP, I BELIEVE WAS VERY NON-PROFESSIONAL AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION. 9/03/15 MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING WHILE GOING APPROX 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. RPM'S SHOT UP AND THE TRANS WENT OUT INSTANTANEOUSLY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, ENGINE AND TRANS LIGHTS CAME ON, CAR WOULD NOT GO IN ANY GEAR. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART IT, MEANWHILE I SAT LIKE A SITTING DUCK WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, HOPING THAT THE SPEEDING CARS AND SEMI TRUCKS APPROACHING WOULD NOT CRASH INTO ME. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALER. DEALER SAID THE CAUSE WAS A FLASHED PCM, IT WAS REPROGRAMMED I WAS TOLD IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. ON 9/05/15 1 HOUR AFTER COMING HOME FROM WORK THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. DEALER WAS CLOSED FOR THE WEEKEND SO I LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE, 2 HOURS LATER THE CAR STARTED BUT WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE, AN HOUR LATER, THE CAR HAD REVERSE BUT NO DRIVE.THE NEXT MORNING THE CAR STARTED, ALL LIGHTS WERE OFF AND ALL GEARS WORKED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID CODES WERE NOW SHOWING IT WAS THE TRANS RANGE SENSOR. GOT THE CAR BACK FOR THE 2ND TIME ON SEPT.16. SEPT.19 I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN THE NEXT STATE, THE TRANS WENT OUT AGAIN WHILE GOING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN! THIS TIME I WAS LEFT STRANDED OVER 70 HIGHWAY MILES FROM HOME. AFTER WAITING A FEW HOURS I WAS FINALLY WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME, TAKING TAKE SIDE ROADS IN CASE THE CAR STOPPED AGAIN. WHAT SHOULD'VE BEEN A 1 1/2 HOUR RIDE HOME ON THE INTERSTATE TOOK ME OVER 5 HOURS DRIVING ON SIDE ROADS. THIS CAR IS GOING BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN FOR THE 3RD TIME IN 2 1/2 WEEKS! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, THERE ARE TOO MANY REPORTS INVOLVING THIS ISSUE ON SEVERAL WEBSITES I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR ANYMORE OR HAVING MY WIFE AND KIDS IN IT. TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE ON 09/11/15. ON 06/26/14 THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WAS REPLACED BUT STILL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY BECAUSE THE CAR IS ALWAYS HAVING A PROBLEM WHICH WILL STOP IT FROM WORKING. ON 06/26/14 THE CONTROL PANEL WAS REPLACED. ON 02/18/15 PCM RADIO WIRING, RIGHT FRONT DOOR AND SUBWOOFER SPEAKERS REPLACED. ON 08/27/15 FRONT STRUTS AND BACK SHOCK ABSORBERS REPLACED. ON 09/01/15 REPLACED BATTERY AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. I HAVE RECENTLY HAD ALL THE UPDATES DONE ON MY CAR WHILE ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP AND NOW I AM TIRED OF BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY CHRYSLER. AS I WAS APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, MY CAR LOST POWER AND DID A HALF SHUT OFF (LOST POWER ITEMS, BUT DID NOT ACTUALLY LOCK THE STEERING OUT AS IF THE CAR WAS IN PARK). ONCE I GOT THE CAR STOPPED, IT STARTED BACK UP AND I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST ISSUE WITH THE CAR. WHEN WE ARE DRIVING THE CAR, IT WILL START TO SHUDDER WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND WITHIN A MINUTE THE ABS SYSTEM WILL TURN ON. WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM TURNS ON, YOU CAN ACTUALLY FEEL THE BRAKING TRYING TO STOP THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS, FROM 20 TO 30 MPH UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT 70 MPH. YOU CANNOT SHUT OF THE ABS SYSTEM WITH THE SAFETY SWITCH WHEN IT TURNS ITSELF ON. WE HAVE PULLED OVER, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS SEEM TO WORK. I STARTED HAVING HEADACHES SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (2013 DODGE DART). THE HEADACHES CONTINUED TO WORSEN, SO I FINALLY WENT TO THE DOCTOR, HAD CT SCAN AND WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED WITH HAVING MIGRAINES. I WASN'T AWARE THAT IT WAS THE CAR UNTIL IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR FOR RECIRCULATING AIR ISSUES AND I DIDN'T DRIVE IT FOR A WEEK (DECEMBER 2014). ONCE WE RECEIVED THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP (NOT FIXED) I WAS REALLY SICK (HORRIBLE MIGRAINE) THE NEXT DAY DUE TO THE FUMES. I HAVEN'T RODE IN THE CAR SINCE DECEMBER 19, 2014. SMOKE BEGAN TO COME FROM THE VENTS, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND OVERHEAT. AFTER ANOTHER MINUTE, THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND BECAME MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. WE STOPPED AT THE CLOSEST AREA TO PULL OFF. THE VERDICT FROM THE LOCAL DEALER IS THAT THE ENTIRE BOTTOM END FELL OFF AFTER JUST OVER ONE YEAR OF TYPICAL USE (LESS THAN 17000 MILES), AND THE ENGINE MUST BE REBUILT (CRANKSHAFT, ENGINE BLOCK, EVERYTHING). OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 10 MONTHS AND ISSUES WITH ENGINE STALLING/HESITATION HAVE GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE SINCE MY FIRST ENCOUNTER AT THE DEALERSHIP AT 13,300 MILES. I FIRST REPORTED THIS ISSUE WITH ENGINE STALLING/HESITATION AND THEY STATED IT WAS A SPARK PLUG/PLUG WIRE ISSUE, (IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS RATED FOR 100,000 MILES). AFTER REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG THEY THEN DETERMINED IT NEEDED A CONTROL MODULE REPLACED AND AN ENGINE RESET FOR MY COMPUTER SYSTEM. AFTER THAT IT HAS BEEN IN A FEW MORE TIMES OVER THE LAST 3 MONTHS FOR THE SAME ENGINE STALLING AND HESITATION ISSUES. THE COOLING SYSTEM HAD HAD PROBLEMS WITH GOING UP AND DOWN .IT HASN'T GOT ALL THE WAY UP THE THE "H" OR HOT MARK BUT IT GOES UP TO THE 3/4 MARK QUITE REGULARLY AND IT SMELLS LIKE HOT ELECTRICAL PARTS . IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN STOPPED AT LIKE SAY A "DRIVE THROUGH" LINE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE BUT NOT MOVING. I'VE TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAW PICTURES AND I EVEN MADE IT GET UP TO 3/4 ON THE TEMP GAUGE AND THEY SAY THAT AS LONG AS IT IS NOT ON THE "H" THEN IT IS FINE AND THE REASON IS BECAUSE THERE ARE FLAPS THAT CLOSE WHEN NOT MOVING . I HAVE CHECKED WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE TECHNICIANS AND THEY SAY THAT THE TEMP GOING UP LIKE THAT WILL AFFECT THE LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE IN A NEGATIVE WAY , BUT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S O.K . I'VE NEVER DROVE A CAR THAT HAS DID THIS AND NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM AND AM CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL AFFECT MY CAR IN THE LONG RUN. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES PER HOUR DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY DART SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. THE STEERING WHEEL ACTED AS IF THERE WAS NO KEY IN IT AND LOCKED UP. THE BREAKS SLOWLY APPLIED THEMSELVES, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL SO THAT I COULD MOVE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE WORKED WITH THE COMPANY AND THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WILL NOT DUPLICATE FOR ANY REASON. HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH POWER OF THE VEHICLE EVERY MONTH SINCE JANUARY. WITHER IT BE NOT STARTING OR FAILING TO KEY LESS START. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME FOR COMPLETE POWER FAILURE. I BOUGHT MY 13 DART (1.4 W/6SPD) AND AT THE 200 MILE MARK THE CAR BEGAN TO "SURGE" WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH 2ND AND 3RD GEAR, FROM 2,700 TO 3,300 RPMS. INITIALLY IT WAS JUST ANNOYING AND NOTICEABLE. MY 1ST TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME DODGE SAID IT IS A NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE MULTIAIR TURBO, AND I SHOULD SWITCH TO PREMIUM FUEL. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP I DROVE A USED 1.4/6SPD AND IT HAD THE SAME SURGING ISSUE. ANOTHER WEEK WENT BY AND AT APPROX 1,400 MILES THE SURGING COULD BE FELT IN 4TH GEAR. A SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. AGAIN, DODGE TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER "IT'S NORMAL. SWITCH TO PREMIUM." I THEN SWITCHED TO PREMIUM AND AFTER THREE FULL TANKS THE VEHICLE NOW SURGES IN 2 TO 6TH GEAR, ALL AROUND 2,700 TO 3,300 RPMS. ADDITIONALLY, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WAS GOING 45MPH IN 4TH AND WHEN I TRIED TO SPEED UP THE CAR WOULD SURGE VIOLENTLY AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER. NOW, A THIRD TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP STILL NO RESOLUTION. NOW, AT 6,100 MILES, I WAS DRIVING THROUGH WVA HILLS AND IN 6TH AT 75MPH THE CAR BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SURGE CAUSING ME TO PULL OVER OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I HAVE SWITCHED BACK TO 87 GRADE GAS BUT I ONLY GET 39MPG AVG VS 45MPG AVG I WAS GETTING. INITIALLY, I WAS EXCITED ABOUT MY NEW PURCHASE AND THE DEALERSHIP COMMUNICATED WITH ME EXTENSIVELY. NOW THAT THEY HAVE NO RESOLUTION FOR THIS "NORMAL" SURGE THE GM WON'T CALL ME BACK OR ANSWER MY CALLS. WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER THE INITIAL CASE MANAGER TOOK MY CASE FOR INVESTIGATION, BUT AFTER ONLY 2 DAYS SHE TOLD ME THE CASE HAS BEEN FORWARDED UP TO A HIGHER LEVEL EXECUTIVE INVESTIGATION TEAM, BUT IN OVER A WEEK I HAVE HEARD NOTHING. NOW EVEN THE INITIAL CASE MANAGER WON'T RESPOND. DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES THE SURGE ISSUE IN EVERY REPAIR INVOICE. *TR

MY ASSESSMENT, WHICH IS BASED ON ENGINEERING EXPERTISE NOT EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE, SUGGESTS THAT, RATHER THAN RESPONDING TO DRIVER CONTROLLED BY-WIRE" INSTRUCTIONS TO BRAKE PREPARATORY TO A HARD RIGHT TURN INTO OUR DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE TOOK CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE, BRAKE, AND (DRIVE-BY-WIRE ?) CLUTCH PROPELLING ITSELF 20 METERS FURTHER DOWN-ROAD TO THE RIVER SHORELINE. PERHAPS READING THE BRAKE COMMAND AS AN ACCELERATION INSTRUCTION (OR ???) THE VEHICLE CONTINUED FORWARD AND DROVE ITSELF OFF THE ROAD, TUMBLING 2 METRES ONTO A BEACH, THEN FROM THE BEACH ONTO THE RIVER ICE WHICH EXTENDS OUT TOWARDS MID-RIVER. IT CONTINUED ACROSS THAT ICE ONLY TO END ITS FORWARD PROGRESS AT THE ICE/WATER BOUNDARY WHERE IT PLUNGED INTO OPEN WATER WITHIN 100 METERS OF HOME. THESE EVENTS EFFECTIVELY ENDING A JOURNEY HOME WITH DEATH. THE OTTAWA CORONER REPORTS NO INDICATION (SUCH AS BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVELS / MEDICAL EVENTS) TO INDICATE THE DRIVER CONTRIBUTED TO THIS OUTCOME IN ANY WAY. IF THE DRIVER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE THEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS EVENT LIES WITH THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE ALONE.
