THE HYDRAULIC SHIFT ACTUATOR WILL FAIL - OFTENTIMES/SEEMINGLY IN THE HEAT & SUN AFTER PROLONGED EXPOSURE. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO A. IF IT IS NOT DRIVING, YOU WILL GET THE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION ERROR" AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN ON; B. IF YOU ARE DRIVING, SHIFTING BECOMES DANGEROUS AND ERRATIC. NOTE: THIS ISN'T COVERED UNDER YOUR WARRANTY BECAUSE IT HAS LIKELY EXPIRED. IF YOU HAVE A THIRD PARTY WARRANTY, YOU WILL NEED TO "PROVE THE FAILURE". WITH THAT BEING SAID, THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN TOWARDS THE AFTERNOON/EVENING IN MY CASE (WHEN IT'S THE HOTTEST AND HAS SAT IN THE SUN ALL DAY). IT HAS SHIFTED ERRATICALLY ON ME MULTIPLE OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS - I AM HIGHLY SUSPECT THAT THIS PART MAY BECOME A FUTURE RECALL PART. MY VEHICLE IS UNDER 47,000 MILES, SO THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. CONSIDERING OTHER TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, I WOULD BE AWARE. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS FOR ME (I HAVE A CLEAN MVR). THE ERRATIC SHIFTING WILL HAPPEN AT ALL SPEEDS.

DODGE HAS ISSUED A CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER EXTENDED WARRANTY, 2016, WE HAD IT REPLACED SPRING 2017 IT DID AFFECT ADDITIONAL REPLACEMENT OF CLUTCH ASSEMBLY, SLAVE CYLINDER AND BEARINGS WHICH HAD ALSO BEEN REPLACED ALSO IN SPRING IN 2017. THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AGAIN 10K MILES AFTER REPAIRS, 50K ON VEHICLE NOW. I DID NOTICE THE LEAKAGE OF FLUID FROM A BOOT COVERING THE MATER CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE HAS CAUSED IT NOT TO RELEASE CLUTCH, USUALLY WHEN STARTING, TWICE WHILE DRIVING AND HAVING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I FEEL LIKE I COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, ID FEEL WORSE IF I SOLD TO A PRIVATE PARTY AND SOMETHING HAPPENED TO THEM, ITS UNSAFE.

THERE'S AN ACTIVE RECALL ON MY 2013 DODGE DART AERO FOR THE SHIFTING CABLE BUSHING. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, MY CAR WASN'T REGISTERING IT WAS IN PARK SO I COULDN'T TURN IT OFF. I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP ON MAIN STREET IN NORRISTOWN, PA. MOPAR SAID THE PART WON'T BE SHIPPED TO DEALERS FOR THE RECALL UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST SO THEY WANT TO PUT ANOTHER FAULTY PART IN. THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AND MOPAR SAYS THEY ARE NOT DOING AT REPAYMENTS. THEY HAVE ALSO REFUSED TO GIVE ME A LOANER CAR IN THE MEAN TIME. I DON'T FEEL AS A CONSUMER THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS OR A RENTAL BECAUSE THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I WAS VERY LUCKY NO ONE ELSE WAS ON THE ROAD WHEN MINE FAILED, AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY WITHOUT HARMING MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE.

I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE INTO ELK GROVE DODGE 4 TIMES FOR THE TRANSMISSION SAFETY RECALL. EACH TIME THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT. JUNE 15, 2018 WAS THE LAST TIME THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. ELK GROVE DODGE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION.WITH APPROXIMATELY 59,893 MILES ON THE CAR. APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MONTHS AGO 6 MONTHS LATER I WAS ON THE FREE WAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL. I THEN LOST POWER TO THE ENGINE AND ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE CENTER DIVIDE. I CONTACTED ELK GROVE DODGE WHEN I FINALLY GOT HOME WITH THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED ME THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY EVEN IF IT WAS UNDER SAFETY RECALL. I CONTACTED DODGE RESOLUTIONS DEPT. SPOKE TO A GUY BY THE NAME OF CHANCE. THIS GUY IS TAKING HIS DEAR SWEET TIME IN HELPING ME. THIS VEHICLE IS A LEMON AND CHRYSLER IS STARTING TO REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREETS, THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE NEEDLES FOR THE SPEED AND RPM WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM LIKE THE CAR WAS CUT OFF. THE CAR WAS STILL IN MOTION. THE DASHBOARD SAID SERVICE ELECTRICAL BREAKING SYSTEM AND THE ENGINE LIGHT ELUMINATED. IT DID THIS MORE THAN ONE TIME. IT WILL FLICKER THE WARNING ON THE DASHBOARD AND THEN AT ONE POINT THE CAR CUT OFF WHILE ON CITY STREETS. AT ANOTHER TIME WHEN THE MESSAGE FLICKERED ON THE DASHBOARD THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY IN THIS CAR AS WELL AS MY CHILDREN. THE RADIO CUT OFF AND THE EVENTUALLY CUT BACK ON.

WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STAND STILL ON TO A FREEWAY OR ANY ROAD WITH A SPEED LIMIT ABOVE 25 MPH IS VERY DANGEROUS IN THIS CAR. WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE CARS DOES NOT RESPOND VERY FAST AND TAKES A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT ACTUALLY GETS UP AND MOVES TO A GOOD SPEED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE FAST LANE, MY GAS PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND MY CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND STEERING BECAME HARD TO TURN. WHEN THIS HAPPENED MOST OF MY CAR ENGINE LIGHTS WERE BLINKING AND WHEN I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK THE VEHICLE DIDN'T NOTICE IT WAS IN PARK. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF TO THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE IN AUGUST 26TH WHICH WAS JUST SENT OUT TO DODGE DART OWNERS. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME 1,500-2,000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM, MONEY WHICH I DO NOT HAVE SO I TRADED IN MY CAR WITH NEGATIVE EQUITY, AND THE DEALERSHIP, I BELIEVE WAS VERY NON-PROFESSIONAL AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION. THEY ALSO SHOWED ME AN INCORRECT NADA PRICE CHART FOR THE TRADE-IN VALUE TO MY CAR.

VEHICLE THREW AN ERROR MESSAGE ON THE LED DASHBOARD ABOUT SERVICING THE TRANSMISSION. UNABLE TO PLACE CAR IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. AFTER MESSING WITH IT FOR A WHILE (SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF AND TURNING BACK ON, PAUSING FOR A FEW MINUTES) THE VEHICLE WOULD FINALLY WORK AGAIN. THIS SEEMED TO HAPPEN DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR AND TOWARDS WINTER WITH THE RECALL EVENTUALLY TAKING PLACE. (2014). I ARGUED WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO PROVIDE SOMETHING FOR TRANSPORTATION SINCE I HAD NO OTHER OPTIONS. AFTER ARGUING AND FINALLY GETTING A RENTAL THEY OFFERED TO PAY 3 DAYS. IT TOOK THEM MULTIPLE DAYS TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE AND THEY FOUND LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID. THERE WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO TAKE CARE OF THE RECALL AS WELL. THIS YEAR ALMOST 6 MONTHS SINCE THE LAST INCIDENT THE SAME ISSUES ARE OCCURRING. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO I CAME ACROSS THE SAME ISSUES. IT TOOK A WEEK TO GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LOCAL DEALER AND I HAD TO BORROW A VEHICLE SINCE THE CAR HAS TROUBLE ACCELERATING WITH THESE ISSUES. THEY PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND IT SEEMED TO WORK FOR A WEEK. TODAY THE ENGINE WOULDN'T START BUT THE CARS COMPUTERS TURNED ON. AFTER TESTING DIFFERENT STEPS THE CAR FINALLY TURNED ON BUT THE ACCELERATION IS CLUNKY AND DOESN'T SHIFT APPROPRIATELY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DART. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. IN ADDITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE ABOUT WHAT PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE YEARS LATER, WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO INDEPENDENTLY SLIDE TO THE RIGHT. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A POLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE ABS AND ANTI SLIDE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND A BURNING SMELL HAPPENING. IN OCTOBER THE DEALER REPLACED THE TCM AT 33,000 MILES AND STATED I WAS LUCKY TO BE UNDER WARRANTY SINCE IT WOULD COST $600+ OUT OF POCKET. NOW ON CHRISTMAS MORNING I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE, AND AUTOSTICK NOT AVAILABLE MESSAGE DISPLAY. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME TO HAVE R, N, D SHOW GEAR NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER WAITING I TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE MESSAGES CLEARED. THEN 2 DAYS LATER I WAS AN HOUR LATE TO WORK SINCE THE MESSAGES AND SHIFTING PROBLEM OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY. DURING TRAFFIC STOPPAGES I COULD NOT GET UP TO SPEED FAST ENOUGH AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE MESSAGE AND ISSUE CLEARED AGAIN WHEN I LEFT WORK AND I DROVE HOME BUT NOW IT SHIFTS AT 5,000+ RPM WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP SIGN. BURNING SMELL IS BACK AND CAR IS SLUGGISH. SEEMS LIKE CHRYSLER IS WAITING FOR ENOUGH PEOPLE TO DIE BEFORE ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. CURRENTLY HAVE 39,000 MILES ON CAR. BEFORE THE ISSUE IN OCTOBER THERE WAS ALSO A "SOFTWARE UPDATE" FOR THIS AFTER I HAD IT ABOUT A WEEK WITH 500-600 MILES AROUND MID AUGUST 2013. TO ADD TO A LONG LIST OF ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE WE NOW HAVE A VERY SERIOUS ONE THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT COVER IN THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. ON THANKSGIVING WHEN GETTING READY TO LEAVE A STORE MY WIFE PUT THE VEHICLE INTO WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS 1ST ONLY TO BEGIN GOING INTO REVERSE. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NOTHING BEHIND AT THE TIME. WE DISCOVERED THAT YOU CAN PUT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE AT ANY SPEED OR ANYTIME WITHOUT THE USE OF THE SHIFT RELEASE. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THEY STATED THAT THE SHIFTER NEEDS REPLACED AS THE CABLE BROKE FREE. THEY ALSO DISCOVER THAT THE REVERSE SHIFT SENSOR HAD GONE BAD AS WELL WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TO COME ON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL TO STOP WORKING. THIS IS BUT ANOTHER ISSUE THAT THERE WHERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, BELLS OR WHISTLES YET EVERYTHING IS OK BECAUSE THE COMPUTER SAYS IT IS. THIS VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP, THEY WILL NOT FIX EVEN THOUGH IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE SINCE 2012 WHEN THEY FIRST RELEASE THE VEHICLE. APPARENTLY SOMEONE NEEDS TO DIE FOR IT TO BE A SERIOUS ENOUGH ISSUE.. DRIVING AT A AVERAGE SPEED OF 60-70 WHEN PASSING ON THE HWY MY CLUTCH PEDAL WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD TO PULL IT OUT WITH MY FOOT TO CHANGE GEARS. THIS NOW HAS STARTED HAPPENING ON TAKE OFFS NOW. THE DEALER HAS ALL READY REPLACE IT ONCE AND IT IS STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. APPARENTLY THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT KEEP ENOUGH IN STOCK FOR THE CARS THAT ARE HAVING THIS REPLACED. IT TOOK 21 DAYS IN ORDER FOR MY PART TO ARRIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT LONGER FOR A NEW ONE TO REPLACE THE ONE THAT WAS PUT IN. A FEW SHORT WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE 2013 DODGE DART RALLYE 1.4L TURBO; THE BLUETOOTH FAILED TO STAY CONNECTED. TOOK IT TO GET SERVICED AT LEAST THREE TIMES DUE TO THIS ISSUE. IN ADDITION, JUST RECENTLY (2014) THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAS FAILED TO WORK WHEN PARKED ON AN INCLINE; NOT ALL OF THE TIME BUT SOMETIMES. ALSO RECENTLY NOTICED, THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL FAILS TO WORK ALL OF THE TIME. NOT UNTIL YOU STOP AND RESTART THE VEHICLE DOES THE CRUISE CONTROL "DECIDE" TO WORK ONCE AGAIN. EVEN SO, IN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OBTAINING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED CHIP MARKS ON THE FRONT BUMPER. AS 2014 HAS APPROACHED, THERE ARE ABOUT A COUPLE HUNDRED CHIP MARKS ON THE FRONT BUMPER BUT THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN AREAS TO CAUSE THIS MUCH DAMAGE. I WASH STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN VEHICLE MOTOR STARTED REVVING UP ALL THE WAY TO WHERE THE TACHOMETER WAS FULLY IN THE RED. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING WAS PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR DOWN. THERE WERE SEVERAL CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND AS WELL BEHIND ME. I COULD NOT GET THE CAR OUT OF DRIVE AS IT CREPT FORWARD. I HAD TO TURN IGNITION OFF TO STOP THE CAR! WHEN LIGHT TURNED TO GREEN AND THE OTHER CARS HAD MOVED FORWARD I THEN STARTED THE CAR AND PULLED IT TO THE ROADSIDE. TURNED THE CAR OFF AGAIN AND RESTARTED THE CAR. WHEN I WENT TO TAKE OFF, ACROSS A HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE CORRECTLY. IT WOULD ONLY RUN ABOUT 1MPH. CAUSING ME TO BARELY MAKE IT ACROSS THE ROAD BEFORE BEING HIT BY ON COMING TRAFFIC. WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN THE ACCELATOR PEDDLE STUCK UNDER THE FLOOR MAT. I NOTICED THE FACTORY MAT SLIDING AROUND A MONTH AGO AND RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER. I WAS TOLD TO BUY NEW AFTER MARKET MATS. I REMOVED THE DRIVER-SIDE MAT AND ORDERED AFTER MARKETS. THE NEW MATS HAVE LARGER LUGS TO HOLE THEM IN PLACE. BUT IT MOVED AGAIN AND WHILE ACCELERATING AWAY FORM THE STOP SIGN THE PEDDLE STUCK UNDER THE MAT. I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND WAS ABLE TO REACH DOWN AND PULL THE PEDDLE UP. AT THIS POINT I HAVE REMOVE ALL DRIVER-SIDE MATS. I ALSO CALLED THE DODGE OWNERS HELP LINE AND WAS INFORMED THAT (MORE OR LESS) IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM.
