On October 16, 2025, while I was working and driving my vehicle, I experienced a sudden failure after stopping to complete a delivery. When I returned to my car and attempted to shift into drive, the vehicle would not shift gears. I was fortunate this occurred while I was pulled over on the side of the road. The problem was determined to be a failure of the shift cable connecting the shifter to the transmission. Because of this failure, the vehicle could not be safely driven. I was required to have the vehicle towed home. Since that date, the vehicle has been unusable. It has now been more than two and a half months without a repair. I contacted the Dodge dealership where I purchased the vehicle in 2012. The dealership confirmed this issue is covered under an active safety recall. However, they stated they cannot perform the repair because the required recall part is not available and no repair remedy has been provided by Mopar. I have contacted Mopar customer support multiple times requesting an estimated repair timeline or an alternative solution. I have been repeatedly told to wait, with no estimated date for parts availability, no temporary fix, and no assistance offered. I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership because it cannot be safely driven without manually forcing it into gear, which poses a safety risk, and towing it would create additional expense when the issue has already been confirmed as recall-related. As a result of this unresolved recall, I have suffered financial loss. I rely on this vehicle for work, and being without it for over two and a half months has caused lost income. I am requesting NHTSA review this matter due to the unreasonable delay in providing a safety recall remedy and the continued lack of assistance.

The contact stated that she was without a vehicle due to the unrepaired recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and two cases were filed. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V674000 (POWER TRAIN). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle stalled. The check engine and the oil warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the engine was consuming oil and was leaking engine oil. The contact was topping off the oil every 1,000 miles. The vehicle was serviced under Customer Satisfaction Notification: W20, but the failure persisted. The engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact was adding engine oil every 1,000 miles. The check engine and the oil warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

The transmission shift cable detached from the transmission, causing the gear shifter to move freely without actually changing gears. When this happened, the vehicle could not be shifted into Park or Drive and became unsafe to operate. This created a serious safety risk because the car could roll or move unexpectedly even when the shifter was in Park. The vehicle is affected by Recall A0C / NHTSA 25V-674 for this exact issue. The failure has not yet been repaired because local dealers have been unresponsive. The problem can be reproduced by simply moving the shifter, as the cable will disconnect again. No warning lights appeared before the failure. The issue was visually confirmed by observing the detached cable under the hood.

This complaint is in regard to the most recent recall on Dodge Darts, the transmission shifter cable detachment. I was in the process of parking my car on an incline. All was normal. I had been out running errands, driving, and shifting for a few hours. The gear shift felt disconnected from anything; there was no effort required to move it back and forth in the shift. The car was not recognizing any movement I was making with the gear shift, and would not lock into place for any gear. I had to hold my foot on the brake even while "shifted" into park; otherwise, I would drift backwards into the car behind me, and potentially into a ditch/creek. I had to call for help to stabilize my car, with bricks behind the tires and a 25-pound weight left on the brake so I could exit the vehicle. We had to lift and open the gear shift to the compartment underneath and manually shift the car into park. During this, we unfortunately broke something under the gear shift. This happened on a Sunday evening (July 20), so no repair person was available to help me. Chrysler refused to offer any assistance or information about the last recall of this issue, and advised me to call the dealership that did the repair (they would not tell me which one I went to, just that it was marked complete in 2019). I know I went to a Shorkey location, but not which. I called three Jim Shorkey Dodge locations in Pittsburgh, and they all refused responsibility. I was told to call Chrysler again. I did not, because why would I? A local mechanic was able to acquire the part from Dodge to "fix" the issue. However, he had to override the safety mechanism that causes the car to recognize what gear the car is in before it can turn off. So now I have to drive around, hoping I don't accidentally press the power button and shut off my car on the road. The car was inspected by a representative from Progressive. They determined a mechanical failure and denied my claim for coverage. This is BS.

On [XXX], at 5 pm, at [XXX] , the vehicle went into park, but showed as reverse, and the key was unable to be removed, or turn the electrical system off, or place the vehicle in park. I contacted The General Insurance Company Roadside assistance; a tow truck was dispatched. It took several hours, 2-3 hrs. for the driver to arrive. He stated he was familiar with Phillips CJDR, and new exactly where and how to leave the vehicle. I removed all personal effects for safety and security. We been having issues with the Transmission slipping sometimes and not moving when in drive and sometimes you hear the motor rev up like ur hitting the gas when ur not . I heard there was a recall for a shift cable i think it was . I went to my local dealer and they said it was already replaced and wouldnt replace it again. It was replaced 10 years ago and it needs replaced again. Dont they have to replace it Again if its the same problem as before?

The contact stated that upon driving from the dealer's parking lot after the dealer had performed the recall repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V542000 (Power Train), the transmission was shifting hard. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer the following day. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to the wheel bearing; however, the contact stated that the failure started to occur after the recall repair was performed. The contact stated that after driving approximately 12 miles on several occasions, the vehicle stalled while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart after approximately twenty minutes. The message "Service Transmission - Auto shift Not Available" was displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 161,000.

The contact stated that once the transmission had seized, the transmission overheated. The contact had to wait for the transmission to cool down. The contact stated that after the first failure, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with transmission control module failure. However, the vehicle was not repaired. I purchased a 2013 Dodge dart aero from best buy auto in NY and only had the car for yr and half. I have waited over a month for ASC warranty company to cover it & they refuse to after I bought extended drivetrain warranty. The check engine light came on and was told it was a transmission issue till the Dodge dealership told me that it's not covered saying the part needed is supposedly not a part in transmission but mechanics seam to think it should be ,the part is called a hydro shift actuator ,the car has a dual clutch , I've seen this recalled in cars but cannot seam find if this is a failed recall part and still have not got a clue why a part like this would be almost 6 grand to fix on a car valued at roughly 3 grand ,I still owe 9;on it. Why this part is not covered under warranty?

The transmission bushing broke and the transmission was disabled. The steering wheel was locked and the key was unable to be removed. The safety of the driver and passenger were at harm on the highway when steering was disabled and the transmission could not be moved after stopping. The problem was produced and was forced to be repaired by a shop for the safety of the driver at expense of the driver. The vehicle was then brought to a dodge dealership in Margate Florida, where the recall was closed, the issue was not fixed. The vehicle broke down immediately following this closure of the recall. The vehicle was inspected and claimed to be repaired by a Dodge Dealership. This is not true. No warning lamps indicated this issue happening once of the two times it broke down.

The vehicle had a recall for the shift bushing cable for the cable disconnect and getting stuck in gear and that’s what happened my car went in on June 21’2022 to have this recall repaired they finally repaired it a year later it failed we were able to put it back on then it now has failed again on august 20 2024 and I am concerned they said I have to pay them now to fix it so I never had an issue before they supposedly fixed it now I have the actual issue and they are refusing to fix it

The TCM needed to be replaced, it would flash service transmission on the dash and then say "shift into neutral and then drive or reverse" when attempting to shift it says "gear not available." There is a recall on other cars for this exact reason but my vin number was not included. It would lock up in the middle of the road or when in park. It endangered not only my life but also any passengers. there were no symptoms prior and it started around June 6th, 2024. After replacing the TCM my car had to go into a full sleep cycle before the message would stop appearing. The vehicle was serviced at Midway Auto in Kearney Nebraska, where they also replaced my shifting cable bushing due to another recall that did affect my vin number at the time that it started displaying the message. The dealership has already replaced the TCM and expects me to pay for it even though this is a well know common issue in these cars, so we'll know in fact that there is its own recall that for some reason does not apply to my specific vehicle and I would like to know why, especially if it is a manufactured defect.

The car has a mind of its own but now it's a constant problem. I will be trying to go and it's like it shift to nuetural and I loose all powers so I keep pushing gas tell it does something. so i don't cause a accident. When this happens the middle screen where shows speed and stuff like reboots . It will also sometimes say gear not availiable. There is no warning lights on. I try not to drive unless I have to because it dangerous if the. Car does not give trouble backing our of my house it will do fine. And if it has trouble backing out of driveway it won't stop loosing power any time I have to stop or slow down. I did have 1 recall done last year when I left dealer ship it worked fine for like 7 days and back to doing the same thing. The vechicle is availiable for inspection I'm going to take it back to dodge because it's going to kill me and others.

On January 1, 2024 I was getting in my car to go to work. My car would not shift into drive, or reverse. It said "gear not available" After about 30 minutes, it finally went into drive. While driving to work, my car shifting into neutral on it's own. I took my car to a local transmission shop where they said it was the dual clutch that needed to be replaced. SO it was replaced. The issue still persisted and they said it was the hydraulic actuator. I took it to my local Dodge dealership where they said it the TCM needed replaced. So that was replaced. They are now saying it is the hydraulic actuator and odd shift actuator. My car is still at the local Dodge dealership because I can not afford the extra $8000 to fix it. I had no codes show up before January 1, 2024. I have reached out to Dodge and Stellantis about all of the issues and trying to receive financial help. There were recalls in 2015-2016 for the TCM.

The transmission is completely faulty. The transmission modular that was recalled I replaced that already. The transmission needs to be replaced completely. I was driving and my car shifted to neutral by itself. I was crossing a 2 lane highway when it happened but thankfully I was able to shift back to drive. I was also using cruise control and i tapped my brakes which would usually cancel cruise control, but my car sped up instead of slowing down. My dealership said my car doesn't qualify for the recall even though it is exactly what is happening to my car. I have 2 young children and this is our only transportation. I need this car to be safe for us though. The dealership said they couldn't look at it for over a week.

Shift Cable Snapped and could not shift the car out of reverse. I thought the car was in park and it started rolling. I had to use the Emergency brake to keep it in place and not roll into the road. The car was towed to a dealer and repaired. I am unaware if the component was inspected by the manufacturer but was not inspected by police or insurance. There were no warnings of the failure before it happened. There was a 2019 recall for the shifter cable bushing that was repaired/replaced in 2019.

As a I was driving to pick up my friends to go out ,I was approaching a red light,I started to slow down but I was still about half a mile fro mt he light so I hit the gas a little bit.when I hit the gas the car jerked very hard and then did not accelerate at all .all the lights remained on,I did not hear any strange noises .previous to this happening ,I had put in new spark plugs as I noticed the old ones were covered in oil but unsure why as I’m not a mechanic . Anyways as the car was not accelerating,I tried pulling to the side of the road with the car not accelerating whatsoever ,it finally kept rolling until I had came to a complete stop on the side of the road .when it came to a stop I tried Turning on and off ,I checked the battery ,for any leaks and saw nothing ,I had some people try to jump the car or see if they noticed anything but couldn’t see anything unusual . When I got it home diagnosed by a mechanic company ,Al they said is the timing chain may have broke and maybe a piston got hit/bent. But it doesn’t makes sense at to why it wouldn’t accelerate compared to at least jerking if that was the case .about a year later of it sitting ,I finally decided to take it somewhere else as it could not be driven and it’s still being financed ,and got it checked out .this mechanic was able to look around and said a piece called an actuator had fell into the engine as I was driving ,which caused the piece to continue getting crushed between my whole engine and caused it to stop running .anywhere and anyone I talked to ,was no willing to fix it and didn’t understand how that happened .

I recently purchased a 2013 dodge dart sxt and not even 6 months later while driving this vehicle I noticed there was a loss of pressure with my clutch pedal when shifting gears. It initially seemed to return to normal and work fine at times but very quickly declined. At first I'd have some pressure in the clutch but that quickly went to having none whatsoever and the clutch not coming up from the floor. This happened while I was driving and just to get my vehicle home I had to get up to around 2500 rpm to shift. The clutch stays engaged so to stop the vehicle at a light for example you have to quickly shift to neutral or shut the car off. To begin driving again it has to be in gear but it moves right away so you are not able to have vehicle in gear while at idle. It's very dangerous and while looking into what the potential causes might be I noticed that this is a very common problem with these make and model cars especially between the years 2013-2015. I saw one article stating there recently was a recall for these exact issues with these vehicles but when attempting to look up my Vin it doesn't show anything?

This car was 'repaired' due to the recall of the shifter bushing. The repair was completed about two years ago and the replacement part has already failed, causing the car to be undrivable. The original bushing did not exhibit any failure. I believe I am still due a repair that will fix the problem. This car has less than 50000 miles on it and every recall repair has made the car worse.

My 2013 Dodge dart rallye turbo 1.4l . Started to lose power in the cold weather. It then stalls out while I was waiting at a red light. I got it started it ran fine. I got to a friend's house. visited for a while. got out to the car it wouldn't start. I jump-started it. To get home. And it was run slow and sluggish. The next day I went out there. and it just clicked. bought a brand new battery thinking it was that. it won't start check the fuses. All was working even relays starter solenoid and alternator also tested good. All cables and ground wires where in good condition tested and cleaned. Belt was like new and turned freely. Check engine light did flash when first tried to start 10 times then when off. But no error code was held. This has only happened one there time. And it was when I didn't have it in my garage at night. Last week and we got a bad winter storm. I didn't know. That I can't drive this car in Michigan. In the winter. Because it almost got me hit. When out at a green light. Because it was cold. If I would of known this I would of never got this car. And know it won't even. Start because I left outside of the garage for the second time in the hole time I own it.

Driving home on the freeway from work, service transmission caution light illuminated and simultaneously the car shifted into neutral. Unable to provide power now to vehicle, had to coast on freeway in traffic and rain to the shoulder of the freeway (about 2 miles until a shoulder was available to pull over to). Once I stopped the vehicle, was unable to shift into any gear. Had to wait for tow truck to take Dodge Dart to nearest dealership. Dealership diagnosed vehicle with a broken transmission cable, which got repaired, and was picked up from dealership on Dec 23. Vehicle was not driven again until Dec 26, at which time another service transmission light came on, shifting car out of gear. Vehicle was only able to shift into 1st gear, occurring on a busy road with no safe place to pull over. Vehicle towed to second dodge dealership for diagnostics where we were informed the problem is with a hydraulic actuator on the transmission and would cost $4200. We had just spent $720 on the transmission shift cable at the first dealership. When we called first dealership, we were informed there was no transmission code that came on and a test drive was not performed after servicing. Vehicle had been serviced twice for transmission recalls that also involved the shifting into neutral while driving. Shifting into neutral while driving is the problem that occurred on 12/18/2021.

First is the cruise control - it sometimes work, sometimes does not. But when it does, it will at times kick on and off while in use. Scary at times. The next is the loss of power on the freeway. there are times when it will just bog down and not accelerate. other times it will catch and shift hard, other times will jerk. when these times occur, the check engine light comes on. But then will go off after a period of minutes.

My car finally stopped in time thank God; but when I went on to continue driving the car would not move or shift into other gears. Police came and car got towed, huge safety concern!

The incident that occurred involved my clutch and transmission. I had purchased the car (8/17/2021)about 2 weeks before complete failure. Everything was going fine until I entered the freeway (8/26/2021)and after driving around 5 miles in 6th gear doing about 65 with no initial issues, I started to smell something burning. I immediately looked for the safest way to get out of traffic. While slowing, gears weren’t shifting and I was basically stuck in neutral. I only had control of brakes and steering wheel which caused me to have to make extremely dangerous evasive maneuvers. Once safe, I was able to find the source of the smoke. Which turned out to be dot 3 from where, what I think is the slave cylinder connects to the top of the transmission. I was able to remove it to check for damage/defection. It was dripping dot 3 and I didn’t see any noticeable defects. Plugged it back. Tried to drive and the clutch engages to start vehicle/change gears. But gears were able to change without clutch as well. Yet i couldn’t get out of neutral. Towed it home, next day clutch pedal was on the floor with no pressure. All components are available for inspection upon request, the safety of everyone involved was put at risk due to me not having any control of anything but the brakes and steering; with no warning or idea of what could be wrong due to the instantaneous nature of the disastrous incident. On a public highway with people going speeds of up to 85 mph. I have not been able to get confirmation or reproduction by anyone. I have not had any inspection due to my lack of knowledge on this process. There was no warning light or indication that the incident was going to happen until I had limited-no control.

I have had repeated transmission problems with my 2013 Dodge Dart. The first time it went out was at 14k miles then again at 16k. Even after fixing it, it would downshift very violently at times. At 85k it went out again with no warning in the middle of a five lane highway. It took several times of the dealer trying to repair it for them to get it to drive without it just going into neutral and not move. The transmission worked but there was still a jerking when it downshifted. The shifter went out at 136K. They ended up replacing the whole shifting mechanism to make it work. Several times in the last four years it would go into neutral while driving and would rev up really high. I would ask at the dealership and they would say they couldn’t find anything. At 172K the transmission just stopped working and it says “gear not found”. The dealership says that the repairs are now more than the car is worth. So frustrating!

automatic shifter cable bushing failed causing me to be stuck in a parking lot in park (P) and not shift gears. gear shift moved but did not actually shift leaving me stuck. bushing under hood connected to trans when first investigated by myself, was in fact connected just fine with no issues to be seen. issued was identified to be the bushing failing under the actual gear shifter itself after the dealership tore my car apart. the tech manually put my car in drive so I could drive it to the dealership to have them fully diagnose the problem and just that is &100. dodge dealership tells me that the recall was completed in may of 2020 on only the bushing connecting to the transmission under the hood. dealership wants $620 to replace the full cable and bushings because the bushing under gear shifter was not replaceable nor does it pertain to the end under the hood end. I was told by the dealership the only fix is to have the entire cable was replaced which is ridiculous knowing there has been a recall on this same issue but now its the bushing at the shifter. I am very lucky to be parked and not moving. absolutely no known warning lights/messages/symptoms to be known this would happen.if there is a recall on one end of the bushing why is there no recall on the opposite end of cable connected to the gear shifter?

I bought my 2013 Dodge Dart (I bought it used and out of warranty-it is now a little over 100,000 miles). My girlfriend was driving it down a four lane highway when all of a sudden the car came to a complete stop, it wouldn’t go into drive, reverse or parks, my girlfriend had to push the car off of a four lane highway and out of the way of oncoming traffic. The accelerator would not work, and it said "service transmission". I looked it up and it's a recall issue (recall R42) for Dodge Darts made between 2013 and 2015 Darts with a 1.4l engine and a dry dial clutch transmission (I have this model). I got it to a local dealership (who said the recall was fixed in august 2016) and they've had it for almost a week and called today and said there are no issues with the transmission and that it's driving fine that the only issue they see would be the spark plugs. (Spark plugs wouldn't cause all of that). This is a safety issue that could’ve caused an accident, my family was in the car and had they crashed and my family got hurt Stellantis/Chrysler wouldn’t hold any accountability. The recall customer service center claims it is their policy that after a recall there is a two year warranty and that I had passed that two year mark, regardless of the same parts malfunctioning from the previous recall I would be responsible to pay for the transmission control module being replaced. I work at the Belvidere Assembly Plant that produced the Dodge Darts, this is how they treat their customers and employees. I’ve taken good care of all the routine maintenance, The car is under 10 years old and the recall should be taken care of.

I have a 2013 Dodge Dart that's been having issues since i got the car. First my transmission goes out, get a new one 02/21 then 7/21 service transmission. Take my car to the shop the TCM needs to be replace. My car would start and move than all of sudden i can't move Auto Stick unavailable shift to N then D then my car is stuck. I can't move only can drift. This is crazy I see that the Dodge Dart has 6 recall and i only received recall postcard for bushel cords? My car is having the same problems the recall was inplace for but my car doesn't qualify? My life don't matter huh? The car doesn't have many miles on the car, i service my car (oil changes, tires rotated and replace) I just don't understand. Someone is going to get hurt driving these Dodge Darts.

The failure was when i was shifting gear .so i shifted 5 to 4,3,2 and thats when it stayed in 2 gear .i exit the freeway and drove the street to my home .the vechicle at that point only travel 21 mph .2 years prior i had a similar issue on the freeway and my kids where with me at the time of the failure. So i had to pull to the shoulder and try to encounter the issue at a peaceful way .like i said i had my kids with me and 9:45 p.m. .so i tooked me 2 hours to move the vehicle to a safer place and had my friend give me a ride home .next day i have the tow truck picked up the vehicle and take it to dodge dealer .they fixed it with no charge towards me .but now this second time they are not trying to help out .either Toyota who sold the car .or dodge the dealer.or Chrysler the manufacturer wont help.and dodge is saying the vehicle requires a new motor at the cost of $13,000 dollars.

On June 16, 2021 I exited a parking lot and joined a line of traffic that was stopped for a stoplight. Traffic began to move and as I stepped on the accelerator the engine started ROARING and the car accelerated uncontrollably across the opposite lane and into a utility pole. It was totaled and I was left badly bruised by the airbag explosion; I have also found I have strange noises in my ears and am seeing an otolaryngologist for that. The car has ben disposed of and I don't know where it is. I am fortunate that there was no oncoming traffic, no one was on the sidewalk and I was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The only one who may have inspected the car was the insurance adjuster. There was no warning of any kind and I had never experienced this before.

BACK IN THE BEGINNING OF 2019 I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS CAUSING A JERKING MOTION WHEN I ACCELERATED AND I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. I INITIALLY HAD A CODE COME UP STATING THAT I NEEDED TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION. IT WOULD COME ON AND CLEAR ITSELF BEFORE I COULD GET IT LOOKED AT. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT IN AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN OVER THE NEXT SIX MONTHS OR MORE AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THEM AND DISCUSSED THE RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION THEY DISMISSED ME AS THAT WASN'T THE ISSUE BUT, AT THAT POINT I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED INTO THE SHOP BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE SINCE I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE IT. THEY STILL HAVE NOT FIXED THE TRANSMISSION RECALL AND I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY CAR SITTING FOR THE LAST YEAR AND 2 MONTHS DUE TO MY INABILITY TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF WHATEVER ISSUES THAT WERE GOING ON THAT THEY NEVER FIXED. AFTER SEVERAL TCM FAILURES ABUSING THE TRANSMISSION PRIOR TO THE RECALL, THE TRANSMISSION NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL ISSUE FIRST HAPPENED JULY OF 2014.

THE NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND SAID THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WASN'T FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I HAD THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY REPLACED ON MY OWN BECAUSE DODGE WANTED A OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT AND GO FIGURE IT WASN'T THE ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. IT'S UNACCEPTABLE THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE I'VE READ HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S DANGEROUS WHEN YOU CAN'T GET YOUR CAR TO GO INTO PARK AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO END UP SERIOUSLY HURT. ON A SIDE NOTE THEY DID HAVE A RECALL ON THE SHIFTER BUSHING WHICH I DID HAVE REPLACED AND IT DIDN'T HELP THE ISSUE EITHER. IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR TO GO INTO DRIVE I HAVE TO HIT THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE PIN UNDER THE SHIFTER ANYTIME IT JAMS UP ON ME. I TOOK THE BATTERY CABLES OFF SO IT WOULD NOT KILL MY BATTERY LEAVING EVERYTHING ON AND I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT SOME LITTLE NEIGHBORHOOD KID DOESNT GET IN MY CAR BECAUSE IF THE GEAR KNOB IS ACCIDENTALLY PUSHED IT CAN ROLL AWAY. I GOT IN MY PARKED CAR, STARTED IT UP AND TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE BUT THERE WAS NO TENSION WHEN I LIFTED THE LEVER ON THE SHIFTER. THE LEVER MOVED UP AND DOWN AND I COULD SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR EXCEPT REVERSE. LIFTED SHIFTER BOOT AND FOUND THE REVERSE LOCKOUT CABLE WAS SNAPPED. A MONTH OR SO AFTER, I WAS LEAVING MY HOUSE AND IT WAS SNOWING. THE ROADS WERE SLICK AND AS I GOT CLOSER TO THE STOP SIGN AT THE END OF MY STREET HERE IN TOWN, MY CAR WAS SLIDING. TRIED TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET SOME TRACTION SO I COULD STOP BUT, JUST LIKE THE REVERSE LOCKOUT CABLE LEVER, AS I LIFTED THE BRAKE THERE WASN'T ANY TENSION AND THE LEVER MOVED UP AND DOWN FREELY. LUCKILY THERE WEREN'T ANY ONCOMING CARS IN THE INTERSECTION AS I SLID THROUGH. IN BOTH CASES THERE WASN'T A REASON FOR THESE PARTS TO SUDDENLY STOP WORKING. NEITHER WERE USED FORCEFULLY, MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND I HAVE 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE DRIVING MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 100K MILES AND NEITHER WERE USED EXCESSIVELY. BASICALLY, THE REASON BOTH OF THE PARTS JUST STOPPED WORKING SUDDENLY IS UNKNOWN. I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR A REPLACEMENT REVERSE LOCKOUT CABLE, I FOUND THAT THE WHOLE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED AS THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE IN THE LENGTH TO CORRECT A DEFECT WITH THE LOCKOUT CABLE (? YET NO RECALL?) NOW I CAN'T EVEN FIND A REPLACEMENT PART. I CONTACTED MOPAR TO ASK IF ANY OTHER DARTS HAD RECALLS RELATED TO MY ISSUES BUT I WAS TOLD MY PARTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN TESTED AND CLEARED BY THE NHTSA AND THERE WAS NOTHING MORE TO DO. REGARDLESS, I FEEL REVERSE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ARE BOTH CRITICAL AND COULD EASILY POSE SUBSTANTIAL RISK IF DEFECTIVE.

WHEN DRIVING, THE CAR WOULD START TO RANDOMLY GO INTO NEUTRAL WHEN IT GOT UP TO HIGHER RPMS, THE CAR WOULD ACT LIKE IT HAD NO POWER AND ONCE IT GOT TO A CERTAIN RPM IT WOULD REV UP AND NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THE CLUTCH WOULD STILL SHIFT INTO GEARS BUT COULD NOT HAVE MUCH POWER AT ALL UNLESS YOU WENT EXTREMELY SLOW AND BUILT UP THE SPEED AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. AFTER THAT THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. NO MATTER WHAT GEAR YOU PUT IT INTO, IT REGISTERS THAT IT'S IN NEUTRAL ALL THE TIME. THE SHIFTER PHYSICALLY SHIFTS INTO A GEAR, BUT EVEN AFTER TAKING MY FOOT OFF OF THE CLUTCH IN A GEAR IT WON'T STALL OUT, AND WON'T MOVE AT ALL IN ANY GEAR OR REVERSE. IT SMELLED BURNT LIKE THE CLUTCH WAS BURNT OUT OF IT. MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING WHEN THE CAR STOPPED REGISTERING GEARS, AND WAS ON A HILL AT THE TIME. LUCKILY SHE HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET UP THE HILL AND PULL OVER BEFORE SHE STARTED COASTING BACK DOWN AND INJURED HER. THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL UNLESS TOWED. THE CAR HAS LOW MILES AND WE'VE ONLY OWNED IT FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. WE READ UP ON WHETHER THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND CALLED A LOCAL SHOP ABOUT RECALLS, TO WHICH THEY SAID THE PREVIOUS OWNERS REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, AND THE CLUTCH HAD A RECALL THAT HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED BUT WAS EXPIRED.

THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS ONLY IF YOU SET IT AS SOON S YOU START THE CAR, IF YOU DON'T IT WILL NOT ENGAGE OR COME ON. I HAVE REPORTED TO IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST UNLESS A FEE FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND A FEE TO FIX THE ISSUE WHEN IT'S CLEARLY A SAFETY MATTER. TODAY I HAD A REPAIR AT THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO A RECALL (V34) TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE. I AM STILL EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE SHIFTING OF MY GEARS. I RESEARCHED RECALLS ON 2013 DODGE DARTS AND SAW RECALLS REPORTED REGARDING THE POWERTRAIN AS WELL AS AIRBAGS. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE A RESPONSE ASAP. THANK YOU AND ENJOY YOUR DAY.

THE CARS BUSHING FOR THE SHIFTER CABLE BROKE. I WAS OUT AND EVERYTHING WE FINE BUT WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR TAKE DRIVE OFF I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE FROM PARK.
