Vehicle was traveling northbound when green light turned red. Steady press of the brakes revealed the brake pedal had no travel. Pumped and held brake pedal to try to stop. Pedal gave way after vehicle entered the intersection causing collision with another motor vehicle. No warning lights or issues indicating the brakes may fail. The previous years of vehicle appear to have a recall specifically for hard brake pedal, but not the 2015.
The brake booster failed mid drive leaving us without any braking assist, which means to stop the car, it took a lot longer to come to a stop which is a significant safety concern. There is a loud hissing noise only when applying the break. You can find air being blown out of the booster when you press the pedal. Brake assist is completely gone, so even keeping the car stopped while in drive requires significant pressure. Communicated with a local dodge dealership and they weren’t able to give an answer on the issue. This car shows that it was manufactured 03/15 There was a previous recall for this same model, but a year earlier. There does feel as if there is oil on the plunger of the booster. This was part of the previous recall. And as it says in the previous recall, there are no parts available to repair this. Recall: [XXX] Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Dodge Dart vehicles manufactured February 27, 2012 to January 23, 2014 and equipped with either a 2.0L or 2.4L engine. In affected vehicles, engine oil from the vacuum pump may seep into the brake booster, damaging a component within the brake booster. Recall consequence Internal damage to brake booster could result in a loss of brake assist, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. Recall action Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake booster grommet for the presence of oil. If no oil is found, the vacuum tube assembly will be replaced. If oil is found, the vacuum pump, vacuum tube assembly, brake booster and master cylinder will be replaced. Parts are not currently available to remedy the vehicles. Owners will be sent an interim notification and then will be sent a second notice when remedy parts are available. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. I have a problem with my brakes and I took it to a shop. The mechanic told me I had oil in my vacuum line to the break booster causing it to fail. The 2013 and 2014 models of my car has a recall for this problem but the 2015 was not included.
Brake Booster failed, no ABS, no traction control, no electronic braking assist. I've read where this has been recalled in Darts in 2013 models. Master Cylinder and Vacuum pump may also be bad.
Electronic Braking System Failure, was approaching a stop sign at 60 mph, was unable to stop, towed to shop. Shop is replacing brake booster, had to pay out of pocket (same as recall R63, but my model year did not fall into it), just wanted to report in hopes that this model year will fall into the recall, and prevent this happening to others! " The brake booster on your vehicle may experience engine oil migration from the vacuum pump, through the vacuum supply tube, and into the brake booster. Prolonged brake booster diaphragm exposure to engine oil could cause the diaphragm to fail. This could lead to a loss of brake booster assist and/or an air leaking sound. A loss of brake booster assist could require the driver to apply additional brake pedal force to stop the vehicle. The lack of brake booster assist could change the braking characteristics of the vehicle and cause a crash without warning."
Upon inspection, Power Brake Booster failure, my safety is at Risk due to not having brakes, the issue it has been a confirmed in older models from 2013-2014, recall R63, it has been inspected by an expert and a message pops saying Service Electronic Brake System with code C0021
Front Calipers have excessive play with new pads and rotors
Unknown , I was driving down the road at 50 mph and my battery light came on then I lost my a/c my lights started flickering and I then lost power steering and brakes I had to use my emergency brake to slow down then all of my check engine and brake failure lights were flickering and my fuse box on top of my battery caught fire and was smoking and my car then shut off I could have crashed and or been hit and killed
Attempted to stop at a stop sign and the brake pedal sank with a hissing noise and then became very hard to operate. I had to maneuver to avoid colliding with the vehicle in front of me by diverting into the other side of the road where a turneing vehicle had to stop to avoid colliding with me. I was able to reverse into a nearby parking spot and apply the parking brake to stop the vehicle. Mechanic has suggested that the brake vacuum check valve, brake master cylinder, or brake booster has failed but cannot pinpoint which component specifically.
The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Dart. The contact stated while driving at 70 MPH, the radio engaged on its own and the vehicle lost power steering. Several warning lights such as the brake system light, the battery light, the airbag light, and the engine light were illuminated. The steering wheel became difficult to maneuver but the contact was still able to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with the battery and alternator needing to be replaced, and was repaired. The failure reoccurred today while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the vehicle as the OBD reader failed to work. The vehicle was also taken to an unknown dealer who was unable to diagnose the vehicle for the same reason. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

MY 2015 DART GT WAS AT A GAS STATION TO FILL THE GAS TANK UP. ALL WAS WELL UNTIL I WENT TO START THE CAR AND PULL AWAY, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL COULDN'T DEPRESS AT ALL AND THE CAR HAD NO BRAKING AT ALL. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE LEVER TO STOP THE CAR AND IT DID. THE INHUD DISPLAY SAID "SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM" AND THE "BRAKE" LIGHT WAS ON AT ALL TIMES, REGARDLESS IF MY EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE LEVER WAS PULLED OR NOT. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS TO CHECK THE BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR. I DID SO ONLY TO FIND IT WAS MURKY, A REDISH ORANGE COLOR. I CALLED AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY CLOSEST DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. I ALSO CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INQUIRED ABOUT CURRENT RECALLS ON MY CAR AND THERE WERE NONE PERTAINING TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM, BUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2013-2014 MODELS (RECALL CAMPAIGN # 15V800000) BECAUSE "...ENGINE OIL FROM THE VACUUM PUMP MAY SEEP INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, DAMAGING A COMPONENT WITHIN THE BRAKE BOOSTER." ,WHICH "COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF BRAKE ASSIST, LENGTHENING THE DISTANCE NEEDED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH." WHEN I DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP AND RECEIVED THE DIAGNOSTIC, THEY FOUND "OIL HAD SOAKED INSIDE OF VACUUM BOOSTER CAUSING THE VACUUM BOOSTER TO GO BAD... VACUUM LINE AND MASTER CYLINDER."

I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED TWICE DUE TO IT SHAKING WHILE TRYING TO STOP. I ALSO HAVE PUT ON THREE SETS OF ROTORS DUE TO THE SHAKING AND EVEN WITH BRAND NEW ROTORS THE BOUNCING AND SHAKING WILL NOT GO AWAY. THE NEWEST PROBLEM NOW IS THE BRAKES NOT WANTING TO WORK. I HAVE HAD THEM CHECKED BY MECHANICS AND THEY SAY THERE'S NOTHING TO DO BUT CHANGE THEM OUT AGAIN!

I WAS STOPPED ON A STREET THAT WAS A STEEP HILL CHECKING MY MAILBOX. WHEN I WENT TO GO UP THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT WORK AT ALL. CAR STARTED TO GO BACKWARDS. NO WARNING ON DASHBOARD EVER ABOUT A BRAKE PROBLEM. I WAS ABLE TO WITH A LOT OF STRENGTH PUMP THEM UP. WENT UP DRIVEWAY AND AGAIN WOULD NOT STOP WHEN BRAKE WAS APPLIED. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCAREY.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS LIKE THAT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V800000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 87,049.

I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR BARELY 4 YEARS AND I'VE HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR THE BRAKES TO BE FIXED TWICE. THE BRAKES SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND BECAME ROCK SOLID WHEN WHEN I TRIED BRAKING ON THE HIGHWAY. LUCKILY I SWERVE AND USED MY EMERGENCY BRAKES. OTHER TIMES, IT WORKED BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PRESS IT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND ONCE IT REACHES A CERTAIN POINT IT HAS A KICK BACK TO IT AND THE CAR DOESN'T STOP SMOOTHLY INSTEAD IT JERKS ABOUT TWICE BEFORE STOPPING. ON THE SECOND INSTANCE, IT HAD A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AREA. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS REPLACED WITH AN OEM. SECOND TIME IT HAPPEND (A YR LATER), THE BRAKE BOOSTER,VACUUM HOSE, AND VACUUM PUMP WERE ALL REPLACED BUT IT KEPT HAPPENING. $1,200 IN ON THIS SECOND REPAIRS AND I AM STILL WAITING TO GET THIS FIXED. A FEW DODGE DEALERS HAVE CONFIRMED THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DODGE SEDANS IN FACT THE PREVIOUS YEARS(2013 AND 2014) MODELS WERE ALL RECALLED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE BUT THE 2015 WAS NOT RECALLED DESPITE IT HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING THE DODGE DART 2015, GOING DOWNHILL AT ABOUT ~40MPH, I WAS BRAKING TO DECREASE SPEED THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL LOST PRESSURE AND WAS UNABLE TO USE THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO SLOW DOWN. DUE TO BEING A MANUAL CAR I WAS ABLE TO DOWNSHIFT TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OVER AND AVOIDED A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED AND SERVICED AT A REPAIR CENTER THEY ROOT CAUSED THE ISSUE TO A BROKEN VALVE THAT CAUSED A FAILURE IN THE HYDRAULICS SYSTEM. ATTACHED DOCUMENTS SHOW REPORT OF VALVE MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING FAILURE IN VACCUM SYSTEM.VALVE FAILURE CAUSED BRAKE BOOSTER TO BE FILLED WITH OIL CAUSING THAT COMPONENT TO FAIL AS WELL.

I DRIVE A 2015 DODGE DART. I WAS BACKING INTO A PARKING SPOT ON A DECLINE. SHIFTED TO N, COASTED WITH MY FOOT IN THE BREAK, UNTIL COMFORTABLE. WHEN COMPLETELY STOPPED, I SET THE E-BRAKE. MY BRAKE PEDAL DECOMPRESSED AND PUSHED BACK AT MY FOOT. NOW PEDAL IS STIFF AND WON'T MOVE. WHEN LEAVING PARKING LOT BRAKE PEDAL HALFWAY DECOMPRESSED. I WENT TO STOP AT THE INTERSECTION STOP SIGN. I PUSHED BRAKES TO SHIFT TO REVERSE AND THE PEDAL WAS STIFF WITH NO PLAY. I SHIFTED TO REVERSE AND BACKED INTO A PARKING SPOT, HAD TO, AGAIN, PULL MY E-BRAKE TO STOP. CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED. BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE. DODGE WANTED 3K. MY FRIENDS SHOP WANTED $400. HAD CAR TOWED TO HIM. WHEN HE ORDERED THE PART, IT WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. SO I ASKED MYSELF WHY, LOOKED INTO IT AND FOUND OUT THE '13-'14 MODELS BRAKE BOOSTER WAS RECALLED. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED EARLY 2015. WHEN I CHECKED THE VIN, THERE WAS NO RECALL. BUT SEEING HOW THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER, AND I'VE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR FOR NINE WEEKS NOW, I'M STARTING TO THINK IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES ON IT AND THE 2013 AND 2014 ALL HAVE BRAKE PROBLEMS AND ONLINE ALOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT 2015 BRAKES AND AIRBAGS. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE CALLED AN UNKNOWN DEALER A WHILE BACK WHEN SHE EXPERIENCED A BRAKE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. I WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH VACUUM HOSE RUNNING TO VACUUM PUMP TO BRAKE BOOSTER THAT WAS/IS LEAKING THAT CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. THEY DEEMED CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL I PAY FULL PRICE FOR REPAIR ALTHOUGH I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2013-2014 DODGE DARTS FOR THIS ISSUE. BUT NO, I PULL OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT AND REALIZE I HAVE TO STOMP THE PEDAL WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE TO GET ANY STOPPING RESPONSE. I HAD TO DRIVE IT HOME VERY CAREFULLY, BUT THE BRAKING RESPONSE WHEN PRESSING THE PEDAL IS ABOUT 2 SECONDS OF SLOWING THEN A HISS AND YOU FEEL THE BRAKES LET GO, SO YOU EITHER HAVE TO KEEP DOING THAT OR STOMP WITH ALL OF YOUR MIGHT AND PRETTY MUCH LOCK UP THE BRAKES. IT'S A 2015, AND LOOKING UP RECALLS THE 2013 AND 2014 CARS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE, BUT FOR SOME REASON MY CAR (WHICH IS A 2.4L MANUAL, ALMOST IDENTICAL IF NOT THE EXACT SAME CAR TO PREVIOUS YEARS) WAS NOT. I HAD ANOTHER INSTANCE WHERE I HAD PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE IN A CROWDED SHOPPING CENTER WITH PEDESTRIANS PASSING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT WHERE THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACK. I BARELY HAVE OVER 45,000 MILES AND I'VE OWNED CARS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS SINCE I STARTED DRIVING OVER 20 YEARS AGO. THIS IS THE FIRST INSTANCE I'VE EVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE EMERGENCY BREAK, AND I'VE DRIVEN CARS THAT WERE MUCH OLDER THAN THE ONE I OWN NOW. PROLONGED BRAKE BOOSTER DIAPHRAGM EXPOSURE TO ENGINE OIL COULD CAUSE THE DIAPHRAGM TO FAIL. THIS COULD LEAD TO A LOSS OF BRAKE BOOSTER ASSIST AND/OR AN AIR LEAKING SOUND. A LOSS OF BRAKE BOOSTER ASSIST COULD REQUIRE THE DRIVER TO APPLY ADDITIONAL BRAKE PEDAL FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE LACK OF BRAKE BOOSTER ASSIST COULD CHANGE THE BRAKING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE DRIVEN MY 2015 DODGE DART WITHOUT ISSUE TILL 2/15/17. IT DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WIFE DRIVING THE INTERSTATE ON I40. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT DIED AND MY FATHER IN LAW HAD TO JUMP THE VEHICLE OFF TO GET IT GOING. TODAY, (2/17/17), I DECIDED TO DRIVE THE CAR TO WORK BECAUSE MY COMMUTE IS SHORTER AND MUCH LESS DANGEROUS. I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY AND DROVE TO THE END OF THE ROAD TILL I GOT TO THE MAIN STREET IN OUR HOMETOWN, AND IT DIED THANKFULLY BEFORE I GOT ON THAT STREET. THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY STOPS. STEERING WHEEL LOCKS. ALL ELECTRONICS IN VEHICLE STOP. BRAKING IS SLIGHTLY DELAYED. I TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP IN TOWN AND THEY SAID TO CHECK THE OIL. WE DID AND HAD THEM CHANGE IT. MY MAIN CONCERN IS HIGHWAY DRIVING WHERE PEOPLE DRIVE 60+ MPH AND NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER INTO THE SHOULDER.

THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS STIFF AND REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS A SNAP AND A LOSS OF POWER BRAKES. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR REPORT FROM DODGE, BRAKE FLUID FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKED INTO THE POWER BOOSTER CAUSING LOSS OF POWER BRAKES. THIS CAR IS A LITTLE OVER A YEAR OLD AND JUST OUT OF THE WARRENTY AT 37,000 MILES AND SINCE WE BOUGHT IT WITH 20,000 MILES ON IT, DODGE WOULD NOT HELP WITH THE REPAIR COST. THE 2013 AND 2014 DODGE DARTS WERE RECALLED FOR OLI LEAKING INTO THE POWER BOOSTER, BUT THIS APPEARS TO BE A FAILED MASTER CYLINDER. I'VE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH MASTER CYLINDERS OVER THE YEARS AND ALWAYS GOT MORE THAN A YEAR OUT OF A BRAND NEW MASTER CYLINDER. MAYBE I GOT THE ONLY FLUKE DODGE DART MASTER CYLINDER PROBLEM, OR MAYBE DODGE HAS BEEN PUTTING SUB-STANDARD BRAKE PARTS ON THESE CARS FOR YEARS. I SAVED THE OLD PARTS JUST IN CASE. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE WORTH LOOKING INTO. WE NARROWLY AVOIDED A REAR-END ACCIDENT, AND SO DID THE DODGE SERVICE GUY WHEN WE BROUGHT IT IN. I APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT ON THIS. THANK YOU

I'VE HAD MY CAR FOR OVER A YEAR NOW AND I HAVE 9850 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. AROUND 1AM AFTER COMING BACK HOME FROM WORK GOING 60MPH, I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK IN MY STEERING WHEEL AND I DECIDED TO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO IT BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS THE ROAD. I TRIED TO SWITCH LANES, WHEN SUDDENLY I COULDN'T MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME SO I STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AS SOON AS I HIT ABOUT 13MPH MY STEERING WHEEL BECAME UNSTUCK AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO HUNTER DODGE IN LANCASTER CA AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ABOUT 3 DAYS LATER, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60MPH AGAIN AND MY CAR STARTED TO DRIFT INTO THE DIRT WHILE I WAS GOING BACK HOME. I TRIED RE-CENTERING MY CAR TO THE CENTER, BUT MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ONCE MORE AND I STARTED GOING INTO THE DIRT. I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES AND LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STOP BEFORE I HIT A TREE. I TOOK IT BACK A 2ND TIME AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN AND THEY HAD IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEY STILL DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. LUCKILY THE TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED I WAS ALONE IN THE CAR. INAM.GLAD TO SAY THAT MY FAMILY AND MY SOON TO BE WIFE WASN'T IN THAT CAR. I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR TO LA BECAUSE OF THE FEAR THAT MY STEERING WHEEL MAY LOCK UP ON ME WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. PLEASE HELP.

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER, AND A VACUUM LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE TWO ACCIDENTS WITHIN FOUR WEEKS RELATING TO THE BRAKES. THE FIRST ONE HAPPENED ON 11-12-2015 WHICH RESULTED IN NECK INJURY TO ONE PERSON AND SEVERAL OTHER MINOR COMPLAINTS. THE SECOND ACCIDENT WAS ON 12-09-2015 IN WHICH THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND ALL PARTIES FROM BOTH VEHICLES WERE TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. THE FIRST TIME WAS ON A ROAD AND HER BREAKS MALFUNCTIONED AND SHE COULDN'T STOP. THE SECOND TIME SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT BECAUSE OF THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN, RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE BEING TOTALED. WILL FORWARD THE PICTURES ASAP.
