Airbag warning dash light comes on intermittently. The Takata airbag recall has been corrected, but the light still comes on. This warning light first appeared on, or about 6 months ago. I have not taken this vehicle back for dealer to re-inspect the issue. The obvious concern here, is whether or not the airbag will fail, when needed, or the airbag might deploy inadvertently.

I brought my vehicle to an Phoenix AZ dealership off of Black Canyon Highway or I-17 on Camelback for airbag safety recall and interior lighting recall and any others needed. When I dropped it off initially I parked on lot by the garage inc front of the rental car business directly in front. I exited my vehicle walking up to repair garage to make sure I could drive into it for recall repair. I walked back opened my driver's door and sat in the seat.(legally able to safely driver by entering through the driver's door) I drove it up there. Upon arriving after they provided the airbags recall, moved my dome light which was located on driver's door module that also has other functions,(moved to another module preventing an interior fire on long trips which I was moving for a job to Audubon MN that next few days) and I was unable to enter the vehicle by my driver's door. I had to physically crawl in the passengers side of car over the middle area and drink holders to squeeze my legs under the steering wheel. They informed me it was like that. I requested the video from rental employee mgr or person in charge and he stated "it would be like finding a needle in the haystack". It happened that I also sat for over 3 hours till close there, had a mgr request 2 inspections from his men, filed a complaint, talked with several reps and all before I left the lot. Also I had a tire light on my dash, and others that I find out are all connected to the module the dome light used to be attached to. While leaving my door locks were going up and down like they were a possessed pissed of psycho spirit , my steering wheel didn't lock anymore, and I decided to wash my car in a CAR WASH which almost got me a rear end incident from the car behind me because my 2004 DODGE DURANGO SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. GOOD DAY I OWN A PRECIOUS 04 DODGE DURANGO I'VE BEEN MAINTAINING WELL OVER THE YEARS. BUT AS OF LATE SOME ISSUES AROSE WITH MY AIR BAG SENSOR AND OIL LIGHT FLICKERING ON DASH WHEN BRAKE AT IDLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS GOING DOWN A GRAVEL ROAD AND THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE DID NOT STOP AND T-BONED THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND THE FRAME WAS FRACTURED IN HALF. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED WHIPLASH AND INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BACK. ONE PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED BY TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE AND ANOTHER PASSENGER WAS DRIVEN TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE. TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING AROUND ALL DAY AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE, AFTER I STOPPED AT A SHOP AND RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE MY AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY DASH CAME ON, I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED UP ANY ACTIVE RECALLS AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE 2 ON MY VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE VIN. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL REPAIR THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE 2 RECALLS, HOWEVER THE AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ON. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS THEY CLAIM IT IS A SEPARATE ISSUE AND WANTED TO CHARGE ME $150 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THEY RELEASED THE VEHICLE TO ME, STILL WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON. WHEN CONFRONTED IN REGARDS TO THE LIGHT BEING ON THE DEALERSHIP HAD NO CONCERN ABOUT THE LIGHT UNLESS I PAID $$$. BEING A RECALL WITH THE AIRBAGS I WOULD THINK THAT THE LIGHT REMAINING ON AND REPAIRING WHAT HAS TRIGGERED THE LIGHT TO BE COVERED UNDER THIS REPAIR.

TAKATA RECALL. I HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS REPAIRED ON 3/2/18 AT GLENN THOMAS IN SIGNAL HILL, CA. ON THIS DAY AFTER I WAS INFORMED THE JOB FOR THE AIR BAG REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. I SIGNED THE PAPERS ,AND I DROVE OFF THE LOT. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON THE MY DASH. I WAS ONLY 10 MINUTES AWAY, SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND LEFT A VOICE MESSAGE. BUT I WENT AHEAD AND DROVE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD SEE THAT THE LIGHT WAS ON. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR PUT THE DIAGNOSTICS TOOL ON THE CAR AND IT GAVE HIM A PRINTOUT OF POSSIBLE ISSUES. HE THEN HAD A TECHNICIAN LOOK AT THE CAR. I WAITED IN THE CUSTOMER WAITING ROOM. WITHIN 30 MINUTES, THE ADVISOR CAME INTO THE WAITING AREA AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE SEAT TRACKING SENSOR ? (I MAY HAVE THE CORRECT WORDING INCORECCT) . I WAS THEN QUOTED A REPAIR PRICE OF $270 FOR ONE SEAT (DRIVER'S SIDE). I WAS TOLD THEY ONLY HAVE 1 PART IN STOCK AT THE TIME AND THAT IT WOULD BE 3 HOURS TO REPAIR. I DID NOT HAVE THE TIME TO WAIT FOR THIS REPAIR NOR DID I HAVE THE $270 FOR THE REPAIR. I THEN ASKED CAN THE CAR BE DRIVEN WITH THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON, AND I WAS TOLD YES, BUT THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY IF INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT (CRASH). MY QUESTION... IS IF THIS SEAT TRACKING SENSOR IS IMPORTANT TO THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE AIR BAGS WHY IS THIS NOT COVERED UNDER THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. AND WHY IS IT NOT FREE TO THE CUSTOMER. I DROPPED VEHICLE OFF FOR SERVICE WERE I WAS REFERRED TO DODGE/JEEP/CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE VEHICLE BEFORE THE END OF DAY PICKED VEHICLE UP NEXT DAY. DROVE OF LOT THE LIGHT WAS OFF. FEW DAYS LATER THE LIGHT ON PASSENGER SIDE COMES ON AND OFF. I HAVE CONTACTED PLACE WERE I HAD AIRBAGS REPLACED AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN A CALL BACK TO TAKE IT BACK TO BE SERVICED. BY 85000 MILES - COMPLETE BODY RUST THROUGH FAILURE WAS IRREPARABLE - VEHICLE WAS MAINTAINED EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN. 3. AT 100000 MILES - NOTED BY WAY OF MECHANIC THAT THE ENGINE WAS 'SLUDGED UP' TO THE POINT THAT THE VALVE TRAIN WAS STARVED OF LUBRICATION AND SUBSEQUENTLY - THE ENGINE HAS ENCOUNTERED WHAT APPEARS TO BE A TOTAL CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. VALVES, LASH ADJUSTER, PISTON ROD OR BEARINGS MAY ALL BE DESTROYED DIRECTLY DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND LOW QUALITY COMPONENTS FROM FCA. THERE ARE HUNDREDS (THOUSANDS) OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ACROSS MULTIPLE MEDIA REGARDING THIS 'FAMILIAR' DODGE ENGINE BREAKDOWN. FCA - OF COURSE - DENIES CULPABILITY CITING POOR USER MAINTENANCE. TAKATA RECALL. I CONTACTED THE CLOSES DEALER IN REGARD TO RECALL R25. THIS DEALER IS TWIN RIVERS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE, 529 W COURT BEATRICE, NE 68310. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT GET TO THIS RECALL FOR 1 TO 1.5 YEARS. THIS DEALER IS APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES FROM ME. I CALLED A DEALER FURTHER AWAY, APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES. THEY TOLD ME I COULD SCHEDULE THE REPAIR FOR TOMORROW. I DID SCHEDULE THIS REPAIR FOR A WEEK AND HALF AWAY WITH THIS FURTHER DEALER. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THE CLOSE DEAL FOR SOME REASON CAN NOT DO THE REPAIR IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME YET ONE OVER TWICE AS FAR AWAY CAN DO IT BASICALLY IMMEDIATELY.

HE TOLD ME KNOW HE COULD GET HIS DATA FROM COMPUTER. THE CHRYSLER LEGAL TEAM SENT NE A NASTY LETTER STATING THAT I HADE MOVED THE VEHICLE AND THEY WERE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE. I EVEN TRIED TO CALL CHRYSLER BACK TO TELL THEM THE SUV DID THE SAME THING, BUT THEY INFORMED ME LEGAL TOOK OVER THE CASE AND THEY NEEDED NO OTHER DATA FROM ME. WE HAVE NOW CHECKED WITH THREE DODGE DEALERS IN THE GREATER SAN ANTONIO AREA TO GET THIS SAFETY RECALL HANDLED. EVERY DEALER HAS INDICATED THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK, CHRYSLER HAS NOT RELEASED THE PARTS AND/OR CHRYSLER WILL NOT ALLOW THE DEALERS TO SPECIAL ORDER THE PARTS. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THEREFORE, I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AT THIS TIME. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD DUE TO THE AIR BAG BLOCKING HER LINE OF VISION. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED ACROSS THE MEDIAN WHERE A SEMI-TRUCK CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES, AS WELL AS TWO OTHER PASSENGERS. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR THE AIR BAG INDEPENDENTLY DEPLOYING BECAUSE IT WAS CAUSED BY AN UNDERCARRIAGE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

WITHIN ONE YEAR OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, ENGINE CLUSTER LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON. AIR BAG WARNING, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS AS WELL AS THE SPEEDOMETER FAILING TO WORK. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN OVER 12 TIMES IN THE PAST 5 YEARS FOR THIS RECURRING PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A NON CHRYSLER MECHANIC THAT THE HARNESS THAT GOES TO THE ABS MODULE HAS A CONNECTOR NEAR THE WHEEL WELL. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED ON MANY OCCASIONS TO SEAL THIS CONNECTOR. I UNDERSTAND LATER MODELS HAVE A CORRECTED HARNESS. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE CONNECTOR WAS REPAIRED PREVIOUSLY BY SPLICING THE WIRES OF THE HARNESS NEAR THE CONNECTOR. THIS WAS NOT A FACTORY AUTHORIZED REPAIR. THE CONNECTOR AND THE ABS MODULE ARE ONCE AGAIN FRIED AND MELTED. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER HAD ABS, TRACTION CONTROL OR AIR BAGS WORKING FOR MORE THAN A MONTH AFTER EACH REPAIR ATTEMPT. SINCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED ON THE VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD IT IN ONE TIME FOR A REPEATED ATTEMPT TO FIX IT. I HAD A BATTLE TRYING TO GET THE WORK DONE AS A WARRANTY ISSUE. THEY CHARGED ME OVER $300 TO TRACE THE PROBLEM WHICH IT HAD BEEN IN FOR 11 TIMES EARLIER. I AM THROUGH TRYING TO GET THIS DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. MY 2004 DODGE DURANGO HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR FOR A DEFECT IN THE AIR BAG SYSTEM SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT ANYONE BEING ABLE TO REPAIR IT. THE DEFECT IS IN THE NEW SYSTEM OF PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG WHERE THE SEAT WEIGHT DECIDES IF THE AIR BAG SHOULD BE ON OR OFF. MY SYSTEM DISABLES THE ENTIRE SYSTEM ON A REGULAR BASIS FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND THE SEAT HAS TO BE RECALIBRATED FOR THE LIGHT TO BE RESET. THIS IS VERY ALARMING AS I DRIVE MOST OF THE TIME WITHOUT ANY AIR BAGS. ONE TIME WHEN IT WAS IN FOR REPAIR THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME A 2005 DODGE CARAVAN TO DRIVE AND IT ALSO HAD THE MAIN AIRBAG LIGHT AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER LIGHT ON AND WHEN I INQUIRED AS TO WHY I WAS TOLD BY AN EMPLOYEE THAT ALL OF THE CARAVANS CAME IN THAT WAY AND WERE AWAITING SENSORS. MINE WAS NEVER DETERMINED TO NEED A SENSOR BECAUSE ALL THEY DO IS SEE WHAT THE MAIN COMPUTER SAYS AND IT KEEPS SAYING TO RECALIBRATE THE SEAT WHICH SEEMS OBVIOUS THAT THERE IS MORE TO IT. I THINK THIS DESIGN IS FLAWED AND IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO BE PLACED IN AND IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. SINCE PURCHASING MY 2004 DURANGO I HAVE CONTINUEOUSLY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON AND DISABLING THE WHOLE SYSTEM. I HAVE HAD IT IN FOR REPAIRS WITH 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS 7 TIMES. IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE NEW PASSENGER SEAT TECHNOLOGY WHERE THE SEAT ITSELF DETERMINES IF THE AIR BAG SHOULD BE ON OR OFF BY WEIGHT. INSTEAD OF WORKING PROPERLY MINE JUST SHUTS THE WHOLE SYSTEM DOWN WHEN IT IS CONFUSED SUCH AS SOMEONE EXITING THAT SEAT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. NOTHING IS SHOWING THE THE COMPUTER EXECT THAT THE SEAT NEEDS CALIBRATING. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING BUT WHEN I GOT MY LOANER, A NEW DODGE CARAVAN THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAD THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON AND WHEN I INQUIRED I WAS TOLD THAT ALL THE CARAVANS THAT CAME IN HAD THIS PROBLEM. I WAS RETURNING FROM A LUNCHEON WITH AN ESTIMATING FIRE MARSHALL FOR WEST VIRGINIA AND A NICHOLAS COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF. WHEN DRIVING HOME TO BRAXTON COUNTY I SUDDENLY FELT A SUDDEN JERK IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND THEN BEGAN TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I STRUCK A GUARD RAIL HEAD ON, AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. VEHICLE THEN ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES, ENTRAPPING ME INSIDE AND UPSIDE DOWN. IT WAS NOTED LATER THAT THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL HAD BROKEN LOOSE. NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO BRAXTON COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WHERE I WAS EXAMINED AND KEPT OVER NIGHT FOR OBSERVATION. I SUSTAINED NO BROKEN BONES, BUT SUFFERED SEVERAL CONTUSIONS WHICH CAUSED SEVER PAIN. DEALER WAS TOLD THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL, BUT WAS ONLY INTERESTED WHEN THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER WOULD BE HERE TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. IT IS A 2004 DODGE. DURANGE MANUFACTURED IN NOVEMBER 2003. I AM VERY UPSET AT THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WAS IN TO THE GARAGE ON DECEMBER 17TH FOR A RECALL ON THE POSITIVE BATERY CABLE TO BE FIXED DUE TO RUBBING ON THE UPPER CONTROL ARM. I RESPONDED TO THE RECALL NOTICE THE VERY DAY I RECEIVED IT. I ASK THE MECHANIC TO PUT THE VEHICLE ON THE HOIST, AND AT LEAST LOOK AT THE FRONT END COMPONETS, BUT WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A 2004 MODEL, AND IT WAS NOT SUBJECT TO A RECALL CONCERNING THAT PROBLEM, AND THAT THEY WERE VERY BUSY. NOT EVEN MAKING MY FIRST PAYMENT YET, MY CAR HAS SEEN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL NOT FIXED. MY BRAKE LINE WAS "CROSS TREADED" IN THE ASSEMBLY LINE. THERE FOR I HAD VERY LITTLE BRAKE FLUID LEFT (ONLY 2 WEEKS AFTER BUYING THE CAR) AND THE FLUID LEAKED ON MY RIM WHICH NOW HAS TO BE REPLACED BUT IS ON BACK ORDER TILL "WHENEVER". I WAS WITH OUT MY NEW CAR FOR OVER A WEEK FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEN I HAVE TO GET THE BUMPER REPLACED DUE TO FADING WHICH THE SERVICE DEPT SAYS HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL DURANGO'S AND PT CRUISERS. THIS WILL BE A 2-3 DAY PROCESS ONCE CHRYSLER FIGURES OUT HOW THEY ARE GOING TO REPAIR SINCE THEY HAVE STOPPED REPLACING. (THIS WILL BE MORE TIME WITH OUT MY NEW CAR.) THEN IT WAS IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THE RADIATOR CAP WAS NOT PUT ON CORRECTLY DURING ASSEMBLY AND IT LOOSENED. ALL THE COOLENT LEAKED AND CAUSED THE CAR TO OVERHEAT. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE IMPACT SENSOR SWITCH...WHICH YOU GUESSED IT... IS ON BACKORDER. THIS MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT BE THE PROBLEM BUT THEY CAN'T GO ANY FURTHER UNTIL THIS IS CHANGED OUT. SO ONCE AGAIN I WILL BE WITH OUT MY CAR. I HAVE TALKED TO ANOTHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY WARNED ME THAT I SHOULDN'T BE DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE WITH OUT THE IMPACT SENSOR SWITCH, THE AIRBAGS WON'T DEPLOY ON IMACT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN TOO MUCH TROUBLE AND NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.THIS IS MY FIRST DODGE AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND BUYING ONE. I UNDERSTAND THAT SOMETIMES THERE ARE JUST BAD APPLES IN THE BUNCH, BUT CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP HASN'T MADE EFFORTS TO FIX PROBLEMS. I JUST GET THE TYPICAL RUN AROUND.

THE VEHICLE'S RADIO STOPPED WORKING. *NM WHEN THE CONSUMER TRIED TO CHANGE LANES, HE NOTICED A DELAYED REACTION FROM THE TIME HE PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE RESPONSE OF THE VEHICLE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED ALL THE PROBLEMS HE HAD EXPERIENCED AND AFTER A DIAGNOSTICS TEST WAS DONE, THE DEALER STATED THE COMPUTER DISPLAYED A CODE AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS SO THEY ERASED IT. ONE MONTH LATER, THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE RADIO AND WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE GEAR SHIFTER DID NOT GO INTO THE PARK POSITION IT STAYED IN THE REVERSE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT 2 BOLTS AND A BRACKET WERE MISSING FROM THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT AND A NEW PROBLEM HAD SURFACED. THERE WAS A WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD THAT READ PASS AIR BAG OFF. *JB

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON JUNE 24, 2004 IN WHICH MY 2004 DODGE DURANGO WAS TOTALLED. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE BROADSIDE - I HIT THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THEIR VEHICLE STRAIGHT ON. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT FRONT END DAMAGE, THE FRONT DOORS WERE NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED, THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED AND THE FRONT AXEL SNAPPED ON IMPACT. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY DID AN "INVESTIGATION" AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ACCIDENT WAS NOT SEVERE ENOUGH AND THE RATE OF DECELERATION WAS NOT HIGH ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. THEY SENT US A PAMPHLET WITH AIRBAG INFORMATION IN IT AND IN THE BOOKLET IT STATES THAT THE AIRBAG IS SET TO DEPLOY IN ACCIDENTS SIMILAR TO MINE AT 28 MPH. WE HAAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET A STRAIGHT ANWER FROM THEM AS TO WHY IN OUR CASE THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I WENT FROM 60 MPH TO 0 IN ABOUT 20 FEET.*AK
