This vehicle will slip in and out 4 wheel drive on its own. This can occur when driving and I’m concerned it will create a dangerous situation, especially if driving at high speeds. When this issue is occurring, making tight turns (parking, neighborhood driving) becomes very dangerous as the wheels become locked and you have to press the accelerator down creating a lot of power and the vehicle becomes dangerously uncontrollable. This is very common while parking, when often pedestrians are present and the vehicle becomes unpredictable due to this issue. This will also occur at a 2 way stop when turning right in front of on-coming traffic. The vehicle will again be unpredictable and can’t turn smoothly impairing traffic coming from behind.

Was on a delivery order with Doordash suddenly the truck started bucking back and forth it had felt as if someone was slaming into the back of truck anyway I was on the highway in traffic when this had started leaving me 1st and 2nd gear than final with no gears cause the transmission was burning hot to the touch causing burns on my hand when I tried to check out I was told my truck went into some kind of limp mode cause of transmission control module and shifted solenoid A on the transmission someone needs to hold Dodge responsible for its failures

My 2005 Durango all of a sudden has decided to stall while driving . I've bought this vehicle almost 2 years ago, and this is by far the scariest experience I've had in it. The first time it happened was as I was slowing down to stop at a red light on January 17th. Since then it has been stalling one at least 3 to 5 times a week . Something isn't right. I did receive a code from my Milewise ins OBD reader today, that said P1794 URGENCY UNKNOWN - contact your mechanic . That's one of 3 I got . The other two are p 0700 Transmission control system ( MIL request ) Urgent - have checked ASAP AND - P0430 CATALYST system efficiency below threshold. Urgent - have checked ASAP This tells me something is seriously wrong and it's going to cost me a fortune. Which for me is impossible to even try to contemplate. I am disabled and my income is not enough. I can not afford to fix this, nor can I afford to buy something else. This is a real problem that I can't afford and it should have been fixed before when it was brought to your attention back in 2005.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the gears inadvertently shifted from AWD to 4WD-Low. The contact also stated that while attempting to unlock the front driver’s side door, she heard the gears shifting inadvertently. The contact then stated that the driveshaft made a loud grinding sound. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic retrieved DTC code: P0700 (Transfer Case motor and possibly snap ring) failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

The vehicle is shifting itself into 4WD HI, and sometimes even LO, while being driven - even at highway speed, which causes a sudden and dramatic drop in speed. It also makes turning the vehicle very difficult. This is dangerous and occurs regularly. I have had problems with the 4 wheel/ all wheel drive engaging on it's own. The problem exists even when the vehicle is turned off when using the key fob to lock the vehicle. I have on a two occasions have the transmission shift into four wheel low while doing over 55 mph which made the vehicle slow down skidding drastically and made the engine hit high RPMs. After checking online for some Information I've found that it's a problem with many owners of 2004, 2005 and 2006 Durango and Dakota owners and found that the body control module, 4 wheel module and shift actuator was part of the faults. They had disconnected the wire harness to the shift actuator to remedy the chance of having an accident. I have done the same and looked into replacing faulty parts but also found that the fix was also temporary many owners reported the same problem just days after repairs. Please look Into this, it's dangerous and it's well known that this problem exists with many owners why has Mopar not addressed it. It will kill someone.

WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, VEHICLE JUST THREW ITSELF INTO 4LO 4WD AND STARTED GRINDING. I HAD TO SLAM THE BRAKES TO SAVE THE TRUCK AND COME TO A QUICK STOP FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAD TO LIMP IT HOME AT 15 MPH. BEFORE LIMPING IT HOME, IT DECIDED TO THROW ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL AND I COULDN'T GET ANY MOTION. AFTER BEING AT A COMPLETE STOP FOR A WHILE, THE VEHICLE WENT BACK INTO ONE OF IT'S 3 MODES (I DON'T KNOW WHICH), AWD, 4HI OR 4LO. I LIMPED IT HOME AND PARKED IT. DODGE DEALER SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSFER CASE AND ONLINE INFORMATION FROM OTHER USERS SHOWS THIS AS A "KNOWN ISSUE" WITH NO REAL RESOLUTION. I HAVE READ THAT OTHER FOLKS HAVE REPLACED THEIR TRANSFER CASE AND STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE HAPPENED TO ME AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF PEOPLE REPORTING THIS ISSUE IN THE PAST. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND I'M NOT HAPPY. SO I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND GOING ABOUT 60 MPH AND THE 4WHEEL DRIVE ENGAGED AND ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. I WENT ON THE DODGE WEBSITE AND IT SEEMS THAT EVERYONE THAT OWNS THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM. SO ITS NOT JUST A RANDOM THING THAT HAPPENED. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND IT COULD END UP COSTING SOMEONE'S LIFE. RIGHT AFTER IT HAPPENED IT MADE A LOUD NOISE THEN WENT BACK TO 2WHEEL DRIVE. THEN THE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE 4WHEEL HI AND LOW WAS GOING HAYWIRE. THEN LIKE NOTHING IT TURNED OFF.AND THE CAR DROVE GREAT. BUT AS I WENT FURTHER DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT DID IT AGAIN ABOUT 3 MORE TIME SO I PARKED IT. AFTER ARRIVING HOME, AN INSPECTION SHOWED LEAKED FLUID ALL AROUND THE UNDERSIDE REAR END. AFTER TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC, THEY DETERMINED THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL PINION NUT HAD COME LOOSE, WHICH DAMAGED THE PINION SEAL, AND REQUIRED A DIFFERENTIAL OVERHAUL.

'TAKATA RECALL' THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON WITH MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO SLT 4.7 LITER V8, 4 WHEEL DRIVE SUV THAT ARE ALARMING. EVERY SINGLE TIME I FUEL THE VEHICLE IT SHOOTS GASOLINE RIGHT BACK ON OUT OF THE GAS TANK WHERE YOU INSERT THE FUEL NOZZLE AND COVERS ME WITH GAS! PLUS I HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR SEVERAL TIMES, ALONG WITH THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, AND MAP SENSOR JUST TO TRY AND CORRECT THE STALLING WHILE EITHER SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP, OR IT ALSO OCCURS QUITE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT NORMAL OPERATIONAL TEMPERATURE AND JUST IDLING. THE RPM GAUGE INSIDE THE VEHICLE STARTS FLUCTUATING IRRATICALLY BEFORE STALLING. YOU LOSE ALL POWER AND CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE WHEN IT STALLS! ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT'S PRESENT IS HARD SHIFTING, OR THE VEHICLE FAILS TO SHIFT UNTIL IT ALMOST PEGS OUT THE RPM GAUGE. IT'S LIKE BOTH IDLE AND SHIFT ARE AFFECTED CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE. NO TROUBLE CODES FOR THE FUEL TANK SHOOTING GAS OUT OF THE INLET PIPE THAT LEADS TO GAS TANK. I STUCK MY KEY BACK IN AND TURNED IT TO JUST BEFORE STARTING ENGINE TO SEE IF ANY DASH LIGHTS COME IN AND THE SVC LIGHT FLASHED ONCE. WHEN I'VE TURNED THE IGNITION ON BUT LET IT IN PARK I HEAR THE SAME CLICKING SOUND. I'VE TURNED THE KNOB THAT CHANGES MODE FROM 4LO, 4X4, AND AWD BUT THIS CHANGED NOTHING. I WAS TOLD THE SOUND COMES FROM THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR BUT NONE OF THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS CAN FIND ANYTHING WRONG. PLEASE INVESTIGATE SEVERAL OF THE ON-LINE FORUMS ARE FULL OF THESE SAME TYPE OF ISSUES WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS MINE; AND EVEN WITH THE SAME DEALERSHIP ACT OF IGNORANCE ISSUES I EXPERIENCED.

I LOOKED UP RECALLS BEFORE I BOUGHT IT TO MAKE SURE NOTHING REALLY BAD WAS AN ISSUE. 2 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT IT STARTED SHIFTING INTO 4 HIGH AND 4 LOW BY ITSELF, WHILE I WAS DRIVING. FORTUNATELY IT DID NOT SHIFT INTO 4 LOW WHILE I WAS AT HIGH SPEEDS, BUT IT DID IT ONCE WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AT ABOUT 10 MPH AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT VERY EASILY SINCE I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, PLAY WITH THE SHIFT KNOB TO GET IT BACK INTO AWD. AFTER THAT I WENT HOME. WHEN IT IS PARKED AND OFF, YOU CAN HEAR THE TRANFER CASE ACTUATOR SHIFTING INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN AND OUT ON ITS OWN. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND UNPLUGGED THE ACTUATOR UNTIL I CAN GET THIS RESOLVED SO THAT I CAN SAFELY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL, I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF REPORTS JUST LIKE MINE. IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS UNLESS THE ACTUATOR IS UNPLUGGED SO THAT IT CANNOT SHIFT. THE DEALERSHIPS DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. SOME OF THE REPORTS I READ, THE OWNER HAS SPENT THOUSANDS, AND STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS! THAT IS WHY I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM ON MY OWN BY REPLACING ANY PARTS.

"TAKATA RECALL" I TOOK THE DURANGO TO ORANGE COAST DODGE IN COSTA MESA TO FIX THE RECALL. THEY INSERTED A DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE THAT SHOWED THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS OFF LINE. NO WARNING LIGHT WAS SHOWING ON THE DASH. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM INDICATORS ON THE DASH LIGHT UP FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN GO OFF. THE DEALER RAN A DIAGNOSTICS AND FOUND THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS NOT INITIALIZED AND THAT THE WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON BECAUSE THE VEHICLE COMPUTER CANNOT CONNECT TO THE SYSTEM. HE SAID ITS AS IF THE SYSTEM IS NOT INSTALLED. THE SERVICE ASSOCIATE SAID THAT HE'S SEEN THIS BEFORE AND DOESN'T KNOW FOR SURE HOW IT HAPPENS - MAYBE A VOLTAGE SPIKE OR BATTERY ISSUE. THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL, INITIALIZED THE SYSTEM, TESTED AND SAY EVERYTHING WORKS. COST ME $155. HOW WILL I KNOW FOR SURE THAT MY AIRBAGS ARE ONLINE IF THE INDICATORS DON'T SHOW ME? I HAD A FRONT END COLLISION IN THE VEHICLE IN 2015 AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY - SEE ATTACHED PHOTO. AFTER THE COLLISION THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR WAS STUCK IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE MODE EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH IS IN AWD POSITION. AT NO TIME HAVE I SEEN ANY INDICATOR ON THE DASH THAT SHOWS THE AIR BAGS OR RESTRAINT SYSTEM NOT WORKING.

EXAMINATION SHOWED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS OKAY, THE REPAIR FACILITY FOUND THE TORQUE CONVERTER HAD BEEN STRIPPED OUT. THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN DISPLAYING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFTING WITHOUT TOUCHING THE SELECTOR SWITCH. ALSO YOU COULD HEAR THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR ACTIVATING WHILE UNLOCKING THE DOORS ??? RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT THERE ARE MANY SUCH INCIDENCES OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. REPAIR COSTS ME $1403. BUT THE VEHICLE IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. HE HAVE TO GET IT BACK TO THE SHOP TO FIND OUT MORE. I LOOKED ON SEVERAL FORUMS TO FIND THAT FOR OVER THE PAST 5 YRS A LOT OF DODGE DURANGO OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT OBVIOUSLY WAS A DEFECT FROM THE FACTORY. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP DID NOT KNOW WHY IT WAS HAPPENING AND SAID MAYBE I SHOULD REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE BUT THEY DID NOT KNOW FOR SURE IF THAT WOULD DO ANYTHING. SO I LOST OVER $100 AND GOT NOTHING OUT OF IT. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT UNPLUGGING AT THE TRANSFER CASE WOULD STOP THE ISSUE BUT THE 4 LO AND OTHER SWITCHES WOULD NOT WORK AND THE SERVICE 4X4 LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR SERVICE BUT THEY CLAIM TO HAVE NOT HEARD OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE AND SEEM BAFFLED AS TO WHAT'S CAUSING IT. CLEARLY THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS I'VE SEEN FROM PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. AFTER WAITING 6 WEEKS FOR AN AFTERMARKET INSTRUMENT PANEL THE DEALER REPLACED IT, BUT THAT MADE ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE AND I AM STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES AS BEFORE.

2005 DURANGO AWD 5.7; THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR IS SWITCHING ON ITS OWN REGARDLESS OF THE VEHICLE BEING ON OR OFF. IT OCCASIONALLY ACTUATES WHEN UNLOCKING THE VEHICLE WITH THE REMOTE. MOST OF THE TIME IT ACTUATES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SOMETIMES THE DASH LIGHT WILL BLINK 4LO OTHER TIMES 4LOCK. USUALLY AFTER A BIT OF BLINKING THE SVC 4WD LIGHT WILL COME ON. ONCE IT IS IN 4WD, IT IS HARD TO STEER. A COUPLE OF INSTANCES, IT HAS SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR, ONCE I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION. I HAD TO GET HELP JUST TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD. MECHANIC IS LOOKING INTO LOWER THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE ISSUE BUT ONLINE I FOUND A FORUM UNDER TOPIX AND THE ISSUE WAS VERY CLEARLY A $200 PART THAT CAN BE PURCHASED AND INSTALLED IN UNDER AN HOUR OF LABOR. ITS THE TRANSFER CASE SWITCH WHICH HAS ALL THE SYMPTOMS MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING.

NOW I HEAR THE TRANSFER CASE SWITCHING MODES AFTER THE VEHICLE IS SHUT DOWN, AND IT HAS SHIFTED TO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AT LEAST TWO MORE TIMES ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING.

PROBLEM STARTED WITH "SRV 4 WD" LIGHT ON DASH GOING ON AND GOING OFF AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING. SOON AFTER THIS INITIAL PROBLEM, WITH VEHICLE PARKED AND IGNITION OFF,4 WHEEL DRIVE ATTEMPTS TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE. THE ENGAGE/DISENGAGE PROCESS MAY OCCUR 2 TO 6 TIMES. THE SOUND OF THIS ENGAGEMENT/DISENGAGEMENT IS CLEARLY AUDIBLE. ON ONE OCCASION THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY ENGAGED FOUR WHEEL DRIVE BUT THERE WAS NO LIGHT ON THE DASH INDICATING THE VEHICLE WAS IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY .5 MILES, 4 WHEEL DRIVE DISENGAGED WITH A VERY LOUD SHIFT NOISE. AT THIS SAME TIME, THE "4 LO" DISPLAY LIGHT ON THE DASH BEGAN TO FLICKER. IT NOW BLINKS AS IF THE VEHICLE IS ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE "4 LO" WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THE SELECTOR SET TO ALL WHEEL DRIVE. I AM STILL ABLE TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE USING THE SELECTOR SWITCH ON THE DASH MANUALLY AS IS THE CASE WITH NORMAL 4 WHEEL DRIVE OPERATION FOR THIS VEHICLE. MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO SHIFTS BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN 4WD AND AWD RANDOMLY. THE 4WD LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE VEHICLE SHIFTS INTO LOCK WITHOUT WARNING, MAKING DRIVING DIFFICULT AND BACKUPS JUMPY AND JERKY. IT WILL SHIFT BACK AND RUN PROPERLY, BUT DOES NOT STAY FUNCTIONING LONG. THERE IS A 'DRAG'' FEELING TO THE VEHICLE WHEN IT SLIPS INTO 4WD. THIS HAS MADE DRIVING THE DURANGO A CONCERN AND NEARLY TRIPLED THE AMOUNT OF GAS USED FOR SIMILAR MILEAGE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD BE A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. IT GOES INTO 4WD-LO AND THE TIRES LOCK UP. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN AT 70 MPH, THIS COULD CAUSE A SPIN OUT. WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT WAITING TO TURN LEFT THE CAR OCCASIONALLY 'SHIFTS' WITHOUT NOTICE AND THEN IT IS DIFFICULT TO MAKE THE TURN. WHEN EXPECTING THE CAR TO MOVE PROPERLY ON A BUSY ROAD, THIS ''SLUGGISH' RESPONSE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. PULLING OUT WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO TURN BEFORE THE LIGHT CHANGES ISN'T A GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY MAKE THE TURN BEFORE THE LIGHT TURNS RED. THE TRANSFER CASE DOES SHIFT ON ITS OWN EVEN WHILE I AM NOT IN THE VEHICLE WITH MY KEY IN MY HAND. I WAS ON MY HOME FROM WORK GOING ABOUT 40MPH. I GOT TO A REDLIGHT BEFORE I STOPPED THE SUV JERKED. AND WHEN I PRESS THE GAS PEDDLE TO GO , THE SUV WOULD NOT MOVE. A FRIEND TOWED ME HOME. I RESET THE TRANSFER CASE PER THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL, AND IT WENT BACK INTO GEAR. STILL DO NOT KNOW WHY IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL IN THE FIRST PLACE. NOW, WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOORS, THE TRANSFER CASE MOTOR OPERATES LIKE CRAZY, FOR UP TO 30 SECONDS, AND SOME TIMES LONGER. I GOT ON LINE AND HAVE FOUND OUT THAT IS A PROBLEM EXPERIENCED BY MANY DURANGO AWD OWNERS. I BOUGHT IT USED AND THE PREVIOUS OWNERS CLAIMED THAT IT NEVER DID IT BEFORE. I PURCHASED MY 2005 DODGE DURANGO, 5.7L HEMI, USED FROM A DEALERSHIP. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH OUR DURANGO. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ABOUT ONE MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT IT USED WITH APPROX 60K MILES ON IT. IT IS TOTALLY AT RANDOM. I'M ALWAYS ABLE TO POP IT INTO NEUTRAL AND START IT BACK UP AGAIN AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THIS IS NOT ONLY THAT THE ENGINE TOTALLY SHUTS OFF(AS IF THAT ISN'T A HUGE ISSUE IN ITSELF), BUT THAT THE POWER STEERING/POWER BRAKES GO OUT AS WELL MAKING THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT A HUGE ISSUE. IT HAS ALWAYS HAD A STUTTER WHEN DRIVING. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, BEING TOLD THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR PULL ANY CODES. AT 2,551 MILES, THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. AT 6,033 MILES, THE OPEN CIRCUIT AND THE MODULE TRANSMISSION CONTROL WERE BOTH REPROGRAMMED. I MOVED FORWARD SLIGHTLY & THEN IT STALLED OUT ... AGAIN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS, EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF ... ALL ELECTRONICS, EVERYTHING ... SUV STALLS WITH I MAKE A TURN OR JUST SLOW DOWN. I ALMOST HIT SOMEONE MAKING A TURN BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ABOUT 3 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND THE DODGE PEOPLE AND COULD NOT FIX IT. THEN THEY GAVE ME A COMPUTER THAT WOULD COLLECT DATA ABOUT THE CAR WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED. I DROVE WITH THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THEY DID NOT FIND ANY INFORMATION THAT WOULD HELP THEM FIX THE CAR. THEN THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE CALLED OR BEEN TO THE DEALER 46 TIMES FROM 10/05 -11/06. NO PANEL LIGHTS CAME ON SO THEY STATED THEY COULDN'T FIX IT, BUT THE DURANGO WILL IDLE DOWN AND CUT OFF IN PARK OR AT LOW SPEEDS. OCTOBER 2006 DEALER CHANGED THE CLUSTER AND PROBLEM STOPPED FOR A WEEK. THEN STARTED AGAIN EITHER AT IDLE OR IN PARK. 12/06 I TOOK BACK DUE TO IT STARTED TO CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. BUT STILL NO PANEL LIGHTS AND NOTHING SHOWING ON COMPUTER. IN JANUARY 2007 WAS DRIVING AND CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF CROSSING TRAFFIC AND ANOTHER CAR HAD TO SWERVE AROUND TOOK BACK TO DEALER. THE DEALER ADDED 1 QT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND PROBLEM STOPPED FOR 3 DAYS. THEN IDLE DOWN AND CUTTING OFF AGAIN. THEN DID A TRANSMISSION FLUSH DUE TO TECHNICAL SUPPORT RECOMMENDATIONS. DROVE FOR 4 DAYS AND IT CUT OFF WHEN TURNING AND LOST POWER HAD TO SLAM BRAKES TO MISS A POLE. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE DURANGO APPROXIMATELY 5000 MILES. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS (SIX INCIDENTS) WHERE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND I HAD PROBLEMS ACCELERATING, THE ACCELERATOR WAS REVVING UP AND I COULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 20 MPH. I FELT AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT, THE RPM GAUGE WOULD NOT GO PAST 1. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, I WAS GOING ON THE FREEWAY 65MPH, AND THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN, THIS TIME MY CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 40MPH AND I COULD NOT PICKUP SPEED, I PANICKED BECAUSE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY KIDS AND I WAS AFRAID SOMEONE WAS GOING TO HIT ME FROM BEHIND. I IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE FREEWAY AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN BY A SERVICE TECH AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM. WHEN HE PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. SO I GOT MY CAR BACK, ON THE 2ND DAY AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE SERVICE DEPT WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER. WE CONTACTED DAIMLER CHRYSLER AND THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR THE 3RD TIME. THEY SAID IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT OR THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE TIGHTENED (WHATEVER THAT MEANS) THEY DROVE IT FOR A WEEK AND THEY STATED NOTHING HAPPENED WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING IT. THEY SAID THAT "THE COMPUTER ADJUST TO EACH DRIVER DIFFERENTLY AND BECAUSE I MAY BE A SLOW ACCELERATOR (MEANING I GENTLY TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL THAT MAYBE THIS WAS HAPPENING TO ME" I STATED THAT THIS INCIDENT HAD NOT ONLY HAPPENED TO ME, BUT MY HUSBAND AS WELL. I GOT THE VEHICLE THINKING MAYBE IT WOULD BE FINE, BUT YESTERDAY AS I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN, AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 20MPH ON A 45MPH LANE. I HAVE AN 05 HEMI DURANGO LIMITED WITH 3,300 MILES ON IT. SINCE NEW THE VEHICLE HAS OCCASSIONALLY DIED WHEN MAKING LOW SPEED TURNS. THE DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE PCM FLASH PROVIDED BY DODGE HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM AND THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON A FIX. OVERALL THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED FIVE TIMES. I HAVE ALSO FILED A SIMILAR COMPLAINT FOR MY 05 RAM 2500 WITH THE HEMI ENGINE.

ON MARCH 14, 2005 I PURCHASED A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. TO DATE THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE NUMBER 4 FUEL INJECTION. THE LAST TIME IT TORE UP WAS THIS PAST WEEKEND. I HAD ALL 5 OF MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I WAS FORCED INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND ALMOST HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME TO CONTACT CHRYSLER. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM.

ON THE NEW 2005 DODGE DURANGOS V6 THERE COULD BE THE POSSIBILTY OF A ROLL BACK ON A HILL OR INCLINE THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE THE GAS WHEN BEING ACCELERATED AND IT FELLS AS IF IT WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS AT ANY TIME I RETURNED MY NEW ONE AND HAD TO TAKE A BIG LOSS ON MY PURCHASE AND THEN I GOT A V8 INSTEAD THEY DID NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEGED THE CAR AS HAVING A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS TO KNEW TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENT YET AND HAD TO WAIT AND SEE IF THE MANUFACTURER MAKES A AJUSTMENT OR A RECALL. I JUST WANT SOMEONE TO MAKE NOTE OF THIS PROBLEM IN CASE SOME WAS TO GET HURT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE DURANGO I WAS AFRAID AND SCARED WHEN I WENT UP A HILL AND IT DID NOT RESPOND RIGHT WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSE TO TAKE THE GAS AND IT WOULDNT AND I WAS NOT EVEN ON BIG HILL AND I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO DRIVE IT AROUND ANY MOUNTAIN RESORTS IT COULD BE DANGEROUS IN MY OPION, BUT MY DEALERSHIP ACTED AS IF IT HAD NO PROBLEM AND THAT WAS VERY UPSETTING TO ME THEY ACTED AS IF IT WAS SOMETHING I WAS DOING WROUNG BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY KIND OF PROBLEM OR EVERY EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS BEFORE. SO PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF THIS I MAY HELP SOMEONE IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE I TALKED TO CHRYSLER REPS AND THEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL AND THAT WAS VERY WRONG TO BE BRUSHED OFF LIKE I WAS NOW I KNOW WHY PEOPLE DO GET HURT BECAUSE OF PEOPLE NOT WANTING TO DEAL WITH IT BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM SO I TOOK A BIG LOSS IN MY PURCHASE BECAUSE I COULD NOT FIND ANY ONE TO HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM OR FIX IT AND I DID NOT WANT TO GET HURT THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME . *AK
