I was in a blizzard a few days ago on the freeway & got caught in a ditch, but thankfully got out. I wasn’t going that fast & couldn’t due to not being able to see through the snow well so I can drive safely. In order not to crash because there were semi trucks around, I had to whip the steering wheel along with the weight of the car on the snow in order not to crash due to the car being big & it was sliding pretty heavy & somehow a couple things went out of wack after turning my steering wheel. Definitely a scary experience. It is very hard to turn out of no where, as well it’s rare at times when it turns just a little smoothly. Also, once when first pulling off, it makes a consecutive clicking noise coming from or by the tires. When I give it acceleration while turning, as well, it makes that clicking sound. Then there’s just something about the engine or the drive train that sounds off. I’m still learning as I go about fixing what needs to be done.

Chrysler has had a known issue with the ignition module nodes on its Dodge vehicles since 2013. However, they have failed to issue a recall on the 2011 and higher Dodge vehicles. My ignition module node is going out in my vehicle and the dealership will not recognize this as any kind of recall and is making me pay for the reprogramming and for the keys to be replaced in addition to a car rental. I am having to pay $800. This is a well-known and documented ongoing Nationwide safety issue. Dodge employees have received the attached bulletin making them aware of this known issue but has failed to initiate a recall. According to their attached safety recall report for previous Dodge years, The Ignition Node (WIN) Module on your vehicle may have unintentional movement of the Frequency Operated Button Ignition Key (FOBIK) from the “ON” to the “Accessory” position while driving. This could cause unintended engine shut off and increase the risk of a crash.

Engine stopped while driving and steering was pulling to the right..was able to start back up and park it..has p0303 code..and p0300 code pending...checked number 3 spark plugs. And engine seems to be burning oil..cleaned up spark plugs and white smoke is coming out driver side exhaust pipe..will try changing pvc valve next..

This SUV has had 2 recalls for the same fuel system relay problem, And now after approximately 2or3 yrs ago, and now it's doing the same exact thing again, you'll be driving down the road and it will just shut off and a red lighting built will show up, lucky we had a safe place to pull off the road and get stopped, but this is a very dangerous situation for my wife and kids to be in

Car dies while driving at speed. Also will die at low speeds such as when turning or parking or waiting at a stop light. Sometimes have to wait before restart if dies at speed. If dies at low speed will start right back up. Dealer says no codes. Even when it died while on the techs computer he could not see a problem. These cars have been notorious for electrical problems due to Totally Integrated Power Module. Fuel relay recall did not solve the issue.

While driving without notice transmission light flashes and the 2011 Dodge Durango will not shift out of gear. I have had this problem in the past and told dealer but they always say they have no codes and on test drive cant confirm the issue. The first time it happened was around the 50 000 mile mark I thought nothing of it back then as I restarted the car it went away. Over the years it go worst to the point that it would happen at least once or multiple times during my daily commute it I told the dealership about it but no codes and they said on a test run no problems. I stopped driving the car in 2019 because it was too dangerous to drive daily especially in traffic due to the car unable to shift gears left me stranded in the middle of the freeway many times waiting to restart car and car would behave normal until the transmission light comes on where i have to power off durango and restart where ever it happens freeway stop signs lights or where ever it decides to happen. I want to get this car running again but dont have the money to fix an issue that i had when it was still covered by the extended warranty and now i have to pay out of pocket because im over the milage so this car has been sitting and i feel as i been ripped off because of al the issues. Im end up dying in this thing if i take it out. Ive donr the recalls and now i see another recall for the same issue that they said they fixed is been reissued im certain all of the issues is tied to the computer unit it i already had one replaced in this car because when i took it for the alternator issue when the car just died with no warning they told me it was fried. All the recall issues that have been mandated are all the issues i had car stalling not starting battery dead and drained fuel relay power module no power how is this not a lemon. this car is a saftey issue on so many levels. Im now trying to get this car running and im still having the same issues i have 129000 miles on it now

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the driveway, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle and became aware there was smoke coming from under the hood. No warning light was illuminated. The contact opened the hood and saw that there were flames coming out of the alternator. The contact stated that her husband blew on the alternator and was able to extinguish the fire. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact was unaware if the vehicle was considered a total loss. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Durango. The contact stated after driving at approximately 40 mph approximately three miles the vehicle was parked. The contact stated there was a burning odor present. The contact was informed that the vehicle was smoking. The contact witnessed smoke emanating from the engine compartment and opened the hood. The contact observed fire emanating from the engine compartment. The fire was extinguished with a fire extinguisher borrowed from a nearby service station. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The engine valve stem failed prematurely due to poor quality manufacturing. Due to this low quality product it has created low compression in the engine. This has triggered multiple codes such as misfire, ETC, and has affected the acceleration of the vehicle as well as performance and at times from even starting. My family's safety has been put at risk due to stalling of the vehicle in traffic.This was inspected by a proper mechanic who looked into my engine with a camera and used diagnostic tools. There was no lights active during fault..

My cars fuel pump is being recalled which is causing starting issues and at times the car wont start. When driving the car it feels a bit of a lag or a loss in power. i have called for the recall parts to be fixed at the dealer for months now. they claim there is part issues or shipping issues on the parts. This an important part needs to be fixed and may cause more damage in the future to the engine if not fixed in a timely manner.

All current recalls have been performed on this vehicle. While making left and right hand turns after coasting down from a highway speed (55MPH or greater) the vehicle will stall. We will loose all power steering and brakes. No warning lights come on and everything appears normal except the engine is not running. Something in the fuel or electrical system is intermittently failing. I suspect it to be a "Dumb" device. Something that is told to turn on or off but there is no feedback to the computer to set a code when it fails. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time. This started occurring after one of the fuel pump relay recalls. It happens at random and is hard to duplicate, while we do have video of it, the dealer has been unable to duplicate it. The vehicle shows no codes, or anything wrong when it happens. Once the vehicle is stopped, shifted back into park, it will restart and run just fine. This has placed us in unsafe conditions in the middle of the opposing lane, in a turn, trying to restart the vehicle before another car comes around the turn. It is also hard to steer and stop a large SUV when power steering and brakes have been lost. There have been several close calls of getting the vehicle stopped prior to going off the road. The dealer has checked the vehicle over with no solution found for the issue. There has never been any warning lights associated with the vehicle stalling while driving. The vehicle does not know anything is wrong.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND THE CAR STALLED SHORTLY AFTER THE ETC INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED FLASHING NEXT TO A "FCW OFF" AND ORANGE TRIANGLES APPEARED IN MY SIDE VIEW MIRRORS. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ACC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON ALONG SIDE WITH THE ESC LIGHT. IT STARTED BACK UP SO I TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, THEY SAID IT WAS SOME MINOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES BUT THE TORQUE CONVERTER ON THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE FIXED FIRST AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY DIDNT DO ANY TRANSMISSION WORK.THEY REFERRED ME TO A-TEAM TRANSMISSIONS, TOOK IT A GOT A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WASN'T A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BUT SUGGESTED IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM. THEY SAID THEY DIDNT WORK ON IT SO I TOOK IT TO A THIRD AUTO CARE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. HAD IT CLEANED AND THE PROBLEM STILL RESULTED IN JERKING, LOSING COMPRESSION, AND OCCASIONALLY WANTING TO STALL. I COULDN'T GET A STRAIGHT AND I DIDN'T WANT TO PAY FOR ANYMORE DIAGNOSTICS. HOOKED UP MY OBD II DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM AND THE ONLY CODES I GOT WERE P0113, P0300, P0304, AND P0340. PARKED MY CAR IN MY BACK YARD AND TRIED TO AVOID USING IT UNTIL IT HAS BEEN FIXED.

SINCE MY CAR HAS HAD 74,000 MILES I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR "ABRUPT SHUTDOWNS". MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP MORE THAN 1/2 A DOZEN TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MAKE MY CAR SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE. CAR IS ALWAYS IN MOTION AND COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHETHER IT BE ON THE STREET, HIGHWAY (LITERALLY HAD TO PUT IN PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE DURING TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY) OR TURNING A CORNER, IT COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND "FSW" FLASHES. WE TOOK IT IN FOR THE FUEL PUMP RECALL BUT NO PARTS HAVE BEEN PUSHED OUT FOR THIS RECALL NOR HAVE BEEN MADE. THEY TOLD.US TO JUST KEEP DRIVING IT EVEN THOUGH ITS ASKING G FOR AN ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN. I ASKED FOR A REPLACEMENT CAR AND WAS DENIED AND WAS TOLD I CAN TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER BUT THEY SAID THE SAME THING.

MY DURANGO HIT 130K MILES AND THE RPM WHERE GETTING TO ALMOST 5K BEFORE SHIFTING AND THIS WOULD HAPPEN ON FREEWAY AND IN TOWN . THEN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A P306 CODE IS WHAT IT WAS GIVING ME . THAT'S A CYLINDER NUMBER 6 MISFIRE SO I HAD ALL PLUGS AN NEW COIL ON CYLINDER 6 AND PUT BRAND NEW INJECTORS IN AND IT RAN GOOD FOR ABOUT 5K MILES AND IT HAPPENS AGAIN SAME P306 . I'VE REPLACED PLUGS AGAIN AND SAME PROBLEM . MY DURANGO IS A 3.6 I'VE READ A LOT ON THIS AND WAS WONDERING IF THIS IS ONE THAT HAS DEFECTIVE L HEAD ? THE DIAGNOSED PROBLEM: CYLINDER 3 MISSFIRE/SEIZED LIFTER ROLLER, ULTIMATELY LEADING TO CAMSHAFT DAMAGE. AFTER REVIEW/INTERNET SEARCHING, APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN 5.7L HEMI ENGINES AND ATTRIBUTED TO EXCESSIVE IDLING. I NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH MY HEMI UNTIL MOVING TO VIRGINIA AND SUBSEQUENTLY SITTING IN TRAFFIC FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME ON I-95 (EXCESSIVE IDLING). MY 2011 DODGE DURANGO ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TWO TIMES IT HAPPENED EXITING THE SAME EXIT ON A RIGHT SHARP TURN AT THE SAME PART OF THE TURN. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS CHECKED TO FIND ANY LEAKS, NONE WERE FOUND, BUT A NEW CODE ORIGINATED TO RE-FLASH COMPUTER. COMPUTER WAS PULLED AND FOUND TO BE TAKING ON WATER AND CORRODING TERMINALS. COMPUTER WAS CLEANED AND RE-SEALED TO FIX PROBLEM. BUT COMPUTER IS LIKELY TO TAKE ON MORE WATER AND CORRODE AGAIN. TOTAL REPAIR WAS OVER 1600.00 AND 20 DAYS IN SHOP. INCLUDED DOCUMENT DOES NOT INCLUDE INITIAL SENSORS AND PLUG REPLACEMENT. MECHANIC INDICATED THAT BASED ON OBSERVATION, WIRES CONNECTING TO COMPUTER HAD BEEN WORKED ON IN THE PAST, LIKELY TO ADDRESS SIMILAR PROBLEM

THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER, INCLUDING BRAKES AND POWER STEERING, WHICH PROVES A LITTLE CHALLENGING IF MAKING A TURN INTO TRAFFIC. I CALLED CHRYSLER IN THE US BUT BECAUSE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AND WAS NOT AWARE THAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY SHIPPED AND TITLED IN CANADA, THE US COMPANY PROVED NOT TO BE HELPFUL. ULTIMATELY, I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE AND CHECKING THE HOOD, I COULD SEE FLUID COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT ENGINE COMPARTMENT - TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE CAR. WHEN I LIFTED THE HOOD, THE ENGINE WAS FULLY INVOLVED IN FLAMES. I DROPPED THE HOOD CLOSED AND RAN TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. WITHING 15 MINUTES THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS BURNED OUT, HOOD AND VARIOUS OTHER PARTS MELTED. CAR HAD TO BE TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE AGENCY.

FINALLY WE LOST POWER STEERING, PARKED AND THE CAR SHOOK BAD AS WE TURNED IT OFF. WENT TO TURN ON AND NOTHING IT WOULDN'T START. I OPENED THE HOOD AND LOOKED IN TO SEE THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING AND RED HOT INSIDE. I TRIED TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE, BUT NO RESPONSE FROM THE IGNITION BUTTON, THEN CRAZY ELECTRICAL THINGS HAPPENED WITH LIGHTS DASH WIPERS AND ETC., THEN THE ENGINE DIED, AND THERE WAS NOT ANY POWER OR BATTERY EVERYTHING WAS DEAD. I AM GLAD I WAS NOT OUT ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED, OR HAD THE FAMILY WITH ME. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUBURN TRANSMISSION AND AUTO REPAIR. PH. ON JULY 3 I WAS DRIVING OUR VEHICLE ON A COUNTRY ROAD WHEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. WE HAD BEEN ON VACATION AND FIGURED THE CAR HAD SAT FOR 10 DAYS WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN AND JUST NEEDED A CHARGE. THE LIGHT INDICATOR CAME AND WENT BEFORE THE CAR STARTED DOING WEIRD THINGS: HAZARD LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, SEATBELT LIGHT, ETC. THE CAR QUICKLY LOST POWER AND EVERYTHING LOCKED UP LEAVING US STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF A GRAVEL ROAD. WE COULDN'T EVEN RELEASE THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION. THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT, IN TURN BURNING UP THE EMS SYSTEM. THIS PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER TWO WEEKS NOW. THE RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR WAS FOR A SMALLER AMP. OURS IS A 220AMP. THEY ARE TELLING US PRODUCTION OF THE PART MAY TAKE UP TO 10-12 MORE DAYS.

ON JUNE 14, 2017 I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 DODGE DURANGO HOME FROM WORK AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND PULLED INTO A MALL PARKING LOT AND SUDDENLY THE INTERIOR TEMPERATURE OF THE CAR BECAME EXTREMELY HOT, SO HOT, I COULD NOT STAY INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I STARTED TO SEE AND SMELL SMOKE, SO I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD; AS I IT OPENED THERE WAS A LARGE AMOUNT OF SMOKE AND I CLOSED IT TO SNUFF OUT ANY FIRES. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD MY ALTERNATOR HAD GONE BAD. THE EXPLANATION I WAS GIVING WAS: THE SILICONE DIODES IN THE ALTERNATOR RECTIFIER BRIDGE MAY EXPERIENCE THERMAL FATIGUE DUE TO CYCLIC LOADING FROM THE ELECTRIC HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING (EHPS) SYSTEM, EVENTUALLY RESULTING IN NO OUTPUT, REDUCED OUTPUT, OR A FULLY SHORTED TO GROUND CONDITION. THESE FAILURE MODES VARY IN THEIR TIME TO FAILURE AND WARNING TO THE DRIVER. DEPENDING ON THE FAILURE MODE AND TIMING, SYSTEM VOLTAGE MAY DROP TO CRITICALLY LOW LEVELS, DISABLING SYSTEMS SUCH AS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM/ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, ENGINE CONTROL MODULE/CENTRAL BODY CONTROLLER, OR A TOTAL VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN (IN THE EVENT OF A SHORT TO GROUND FAILURE MODE). I EXPERIENCED A TOTAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. THE ALTERNATOR NOT ONLY FAILED BUT SHORTED OUT MY BATTERY, FUSES AND COMPUTER MODULE. I CALLED DODGE CORPORATE AND ONLY RECEIVED AN APOLOGY.... DODGE HAS A RECALL P60 RECALL WHICH APPLIES TO 160AMP ALTERNATOR. THIS RECALL WAS NOT APPLICABLE TO MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT HAS A 180 OR 220 AMP ALTERNATOR BUT IF IT IS FAILING LIKE THE 160AMP ALTERNATOR THEN DODGE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART.

I CALLED CHRYSLER (CASE #31556595) TO SEE IF THEY COULD HELP AND WAS DENIED. WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR WHICH COST ME $400.44. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

THE STEERING LOCKED, BRAKES LOCKED, WIPERS CAME ON MOVING SLOWLY, THE HEAT CAME ON, ABS BRAKES LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE PARK ASSIST CAME ON. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS DIRECTLY AROUND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WHERE MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND STOPPED ON ITS OWN. THE 180 AMP ALTERNATOR WENT AND ALSO FRIED MY PCM. I AM CURRENTLY PAYING OVER $200 TO RENT A CAR. I AM BEING TOLD MY BILL WILL BE ABOUT $2000 TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND PCM. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE AND A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AS THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR IS ALREADY RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUES. DRIVING AT A HIGHWAY SPEED AND YOUR CAR SUDDENLY COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH. THIS IS THE 3RD MAJOR ISSUE I'VE RAN INTO AS I ALSO HAD MY BATTERY DYING MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL. ALSO, I LOST MY BRAKES SUDDENLY AND HAD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE RECALL. I DO NOT THINK I WILL EVER BUY A DODGE AGAIN AS THEY DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ISSUES. THEN THE STARTER WENT OUT CAUSING ME TO REPLACE IT. NOW FOR THE 3RD TIME IN 3 WEEKS, I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED AND NOW IT APPEARS THE ISSUE MAY BE THE ALTERNATOR. I NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2011 DODGE DURANGO 3.6L, 160 AMP ALTERNATORS AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT AMP MY ALTERNATOR IS BUT MY VEHICLE APPEARS TO HAVE ALL THE SAME ISSUES AS THE VEHICLES THAT WERE UNDER THE RECALL, YET MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL? I HAVE BEEN INCONVENIENCED FOR 3 WEEKS NOW HAVING TO GET RIDES TO AND FROM WORK AND HAVE HAD TO CANCEL DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS AND SCHOOL MEETINGS DUE TO THE FACT THAT BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I NEED A VEHICLE AND ARE HAVING TO SHARE 1 VEHICLE WITH 5 KIDS. OUR MOST RECENT ISSUE OCCURRED ON EASTER SUNDAY WHILE TRAVELING WITH ALL OUR CHILDREN, THE BATTERY SIGNAL APPEARED ON OUR VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. TO AVOID INJURY, WE HAVE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR REVIEW. WE HAVE HAD 2 DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS GOING ON A 3RD AND NO ONE IS CATCHING ALL THE REPEATED ISSUES. WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE CATALYST CONVERTER 2 TIMES (NOVEMBER 2016 AND APRIL 2017), O2 SENSORS (NOVEMBER 2016), BATTERY (JANUARY 2017), STARTER (APRIL 2017) AND NOW OUR NEWEST ISSUE HAS YET TO BE REVEALED BUT IT APPEARS IT WILL BE THE ALTERNATOR (APRIL 2017). AT WHAT POINT WILL CHRYSLER TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL THE ISSUES WITH THE 2011 DODGE DURANGO. REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL WE HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR FAULTY ISSUES WITH THE 2011 DODGE DURANGO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. IT WAS TOWED TO A NEARBY AUTO SHOP WHEREUPON THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED BUT THE VEHICLE STILL DID NOT OPERATE. LOCAL MECHANIC CHANGED THE BATTERY FIRST AND STILL HAD THE CHECK BATTERY LIGHT ON SO HE RECCOMENDED A NEW ALTERNATOR AS WELL WHICH I BOUGHT IMMEDIATELY, 900.00 LATER HERE I SIT WITH NEW ALTERNATOR AND BATERRY BUT STILL THE SAME PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE STALLING AND CHECK BATTERY LIGHT ON. DEALER SAYS MY VEHICLE IS NOT IN THE P60 RECALL EVEN THOUGH I HAVE/HAD THE SAME 160 AMP ALTERNATOR AS THE RECALLED VEHICLES. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHICH CAN BECOME DEADLY IF NOT FIXED ASAP. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE AGAIN UNEXPECTEDLY STALLED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, AND I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. AGAIN, IT RESTARTED UNEVENTFULLY AND I CONTINUED TO WORK. THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE WORKING NORMALLY OTHERWISE. ACCELERATION AND FUEL ECONOMY ARE NORMAL, AND THERE ARE NO EPISODES OF HESITATION/STUTTERING/MISSING. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THE STALL EITHER TIME. BOTH EPISODES WERE APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES INTO MY DRIVE, AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MOSTLY WARMED UP EACH TIME, BUT PERHAPS NOT ALL THE WAY. THE "EXACT" MOMENT OF THE STALL SEEMS TO COINCIDE WITH REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE, ONCE TO TURN AND ONCE TO ACCELERATE. THE DURANGO WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THAT SAME DAY EACH TIME, AND THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT ERROR CODES.

THE VERY FIRST TIME WAS WHEN I WAS SLOWING DOWN FROM ABOUT 50MPH AT A CORNER IN ORDER TO TAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN, ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH THE 90 CORNER I FEEL THAT THE STEERING HAS STIFFENED. LOOKING DOWN, I SEE THAT THE TACHOMETER NOW READS 0, AND THE ENGINE HAS DIED. I CANNOT SIMPLY SLIP IT INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN RESTART IT BECAUSE OF THE CAR HAS A KEYLESS PUSHBUTTON AND THE START BUTTON ONLY WORKS WITH THE DRIVE IN PARK. I THEN HAVE TO ARMSTRONG IT THROUGH THE REST OF THE CORNER. AS I FINISH UP THE TURN TO WHERE I CAN SAFELY STOP AND RESTART, I THEN PUSH THE BRAKES ONLY TO FIND THAT THEY ARE NOW TOTALLY STIFF BECAUSE THERE IS NOW NO VACUUM LEFT TO ASSIST. I END UP COSTING TO A STOP. THE CAR ALWAYS RESTARTS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED AND HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 20 TIMES SINCE. IT IS ALWAYS IS WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM ANYWHERE FROM 60 TO 30 MPH AND BEGINNING TO TAKE A RIGHT TURN. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN WHEN DOING A LEFT, BUT THERE ARE NOT TO MANY CHANCES TO DUPLICATE THIS SCENARIO DOING A LEFT. WE HAD THE ONE RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP DONE SO THAT SHOULD NOT BE IT. WE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS TO NUMEROUS DODGE DEALERS AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING. ONE SERVICE WRITER SAID THAT HE KNEW OF THE PROBLEM, KNEW THAT THE FUEL PUMP RECALL WAS NOT FIXING IT AND THAT THERE WAS GOING TO BE ANOTHER RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN THIS HAPPENS UNEXPECTEDLY AS YOU ARE GOING 25 MPH IN A TRAFFIC ROUNDABOUT, IT IS ALL YOU CAN DO TO TRY TO STEER THROUGH THE REST OF THE TRAFFIC CIRCLE, ONLY TO FIND THAT YOUR POWER BRAKES ARE FAILED AS YOU TRY TO STOP TO RESTART. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION, SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED WITH THIS HAPPENING, EITHER THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR, OR THE PUBLIC. WHILE DRIVING HEARD LOW MOANING SOUND, 5 MINUTES LATER (STILL DRIVING) BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I DECIDED TO TAKE VEHICLE TO AUTO PARTS STORE BECAUSE IT WAS LATE AFTERNOON (~7:45PM) TO SEE IF MY NEED WAS A BATTERY. I ASKED TECHNICIAN TO COME AND SEE IF IT WAS MY BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR, AS I OPENED VEHICLE DOOR TO POP THE HOOD, THE SUV WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE. THE TECHS SCURRIED TO OPEN THE HOOD AND WAIVED SMOKE IN ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE BATTERY CABLE TO DISCONNECT POWER. I WAS RUSHING TO GET CHILD OUT OF CAR, BECAUSE SMOKE WAS BELLOWING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. AFTER TECHNICIAN REMOVED THE POWER CABLE FROM THE STUD UNDER THE HOOD, THE FIRE AND SMOKE FROM THE ALTERNATOR SLOWED AND EVENTUALLY WENT OUT. I CALLED INSURANCE COMPANY AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SAME THING HAPPENED A WEEK LATER WHILE DRIVING ON COLBY AVENUE IN EVERETT. THE CAR HAD BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTY STARTING, IT WOULD CRANK OVER BUT NOT START. ON OCTOBER 1'ST I TOOK THE CAR TO DWAYNE LANES IN EVERETT, THEY TOLD THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE CAR STILL DID NOT START AND THE PROBLEM REMAINS. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO DWAYNE LANES AND INFORMED THEM THAT THE CAR WAS STALLING WHILE DRIVING. THEY COMMENTED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND SUBJECT TO A RECALL (P54/NHTSA 14V-530). DWAYNE LANES ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WOULD BE IN AND SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK AND UTILIZE IT UNTIL THE PART CAME IN. I INFORMED DWAYNE LANES THAT I WOULD NOT BE DRIVING A CAR THAT LOSES POWER AT RANDOM TIMES ON PUBLIC ROADS. I BOUGHT A 2011 DODGE DURANGO IN OCTOBER OF 2013. THERE HAVE SINCE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS, ALL TOOK SOME TIME TO RESOLVE BECAUSE THERE WERE PART SHORTAGES ON BOTH OCCASIONS. THE MOST RECENT PROBLEM THAT HAS YET TO BE OFFICIALLY TERMED A RECALL BECAUSE CHRYSLER CLAIMS THEY ARE STILL "RESEARCHING" THE ISSUE INVOLVES A FAULTY IGNITION WIRING HARNESS. THIS DEFECT PREVENTS THE PROPER COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE IGNITION AND FUEL SYSTEMS, WHICH RESULTS IN A VEHICLE THAT HAS PROBLEMS STARTING OR WON'T START ALTOGETHER. MY VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE LATTER CATEGORY AS IT IS CURRENTLY STUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS A NATIONWIDE BACKORDER FOR PARTS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AND CHRYSLER CORPORATION IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET IN DECLARING IT A RECALL, PRESUMABLY TRYING TO AVOID BAD PUBLICITY. AS SHE LEFT WORK THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURED TURN THE KEY NOTHING, TURN THE KEY NOTHING, TAKE THE KEY OUT, TURN THE KEY, IT CRANKS AND THEN SHUTS OFF. AFTER GOING THROUGH THE SAME ROUTINE OVER AND OVER WE FINALLY GOT IT TO CRANK. WE DECIDED TO HAVE THE CAR BATTERY TESTED AND IT PASSED. WE EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND EVEN TOOK THE SERVICE MAN TO THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. SO HE ACTUALLY OBSERVED THE ISSUE. 2HRS LATER THEY CALL SAYING A PROBLEM COULD'NT BE FOUND. THE TEST DIDN'T PRODUCE A CODE. OK, SO WE SPENT $100 DOLLARS ON A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WITH NO DIAGNOSIS. AS WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I ASKED THE SERVICE MAN IF THEY HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND OF COURSE HIS ANSWER WAS NO. HE SUGGESTED IT WAS PROBABLY A COMMUNICATION PROBLEM. WELL DUH, SOMETHING WASN'T COMMUNICATING. HE TELLS US TO MAKE SURE ALL DOORS, INCLUDING THE REAR HATCH ARE CLOSED BEFORE STARTING. NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING FOR $100. WELL, HE MAY HAVE BEEN TELLING THE TRUTH BUT I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND SINCE THEN I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE FAULTY TIPM. THE PROBLEM FIRST MANIFESTED ITSELF IN AN OCCASIONAL DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE, TYPICALLY AFTER IT SAT OVERNIGHT. UPON PRESSING THE START BUTTON THE STARTER WOULD ENGAGE BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. PRESSING THE START BUTTON AGAIN TO STOP THE CRANKING AND THEN RE-PRESSING THE BUTTON WOULD GET THE ENGINE TO START. WEEKS WOULD SOMETIMES GO BY WITHOUT THE PROBLEM RECURRING. AROUND THE MIDDLE OF JULY 2014 THE PROBLEM STARTED TO GET MUCH WORSE, THE CAR SOMETIMES NOT STARTING MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE DAY EVEN AFTER SHORT STOPS. AROUND THE END OF JULY MY WIFE HAD THE PROBLEM HAPPEN TO HER, GOT THE VEHICLE STARTED, BUT AS SHE BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE TRAFFIC LANE. AFTER THAT INCIDENT I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY "CLEARED SEVERAL FAULT CODES" AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. THREE DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN WOULDN'T START, BUT THE "RESET AND REPRESS" TACTIC WOULD WORK AND THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN. AROUND AUGUST 7 2014 THE PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE. THE VEHICLE TOOK MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AND 1-2 MINUTES TO GET RUNNING ON SEVERAL MORNINGS, NOW THOUGH THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL ONCE STARTED AND BEFORE MOVING. ONCE RUNNING, IN GEAR, AND MOVING THE CAR WOULD RUN FINE. CAR FAILED TO START THEN EACH MORNING AUG 15-17, TAKING 1-2 MINUTES EACH MORNING AND MULTIPLE STALLS. ON AFTERNOON OF AUGUST 17, 5 MINUTES AFTER MAKING A DEALER APT FOR NEXT MORNING, I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 10 MILES PER HOUR AND THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WENT OUT AS WELL. ONLY AFTER 3 MINUTES DID FINALLY USING THE REMOTE START FUNCTION ON THE KEY FOB GET THE VEHICLE TO START AND RUN, THIS ON A VERY BUSY ROADWAY BLOCKING A LANE OF TRAFFIC. NEXT DAY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT THE DEALER EITHER, THEY DIAGNOSED A BAD TIPM MODULE AND OFFERED ME A NEW MODULE FOR $1200 OR A "RELAY KIT" FOR $587. NEW MODULE CURED PROBLEM FOR NOW. *TR

WE ATTEMPTED TO START OUR VEHICLE, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES VEHICLE STARTED BUT STUTTERED, AS IF THEIR WAS NO FUEL GOING TO THE ENGINE. THERE HAD BEEN NO ENGINE OR SERVICE LIGHTS AT THE TIME. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THAT MANY DURANGO AND CHEROKEE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES, AND THE CAUSE WAS THE TIPM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TESTED IT, AND FOUND IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIPM, WHICH WAS FAILING TO ENGAGE THE FUEL PUMP. LUCKILY OUR CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME THE PROBLEM STARTED. MY WIFE GENERALLY DRIVES THIS VEHICLE WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN. OUR WARRANTY ENDED AT 36000 MILES, SO IT WAS NOT COVERED. I HAVE A 2011 DODGE DURANGO THAT HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP'S SHOP SINCE SEPT 20TH. THE FUEL PUMPS FAILED BECAUSE OF A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. THIS ITEM HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER AND IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH...DEALERSHIPS NATIONWIDE ARE RESTRICTED TO ORDERING ONE MODULE PER WEEK. I BELIEVE THIS ITEM SHOULD BE ON RECALL BECAUSE APPARENTLY OTHERS ARE WAITING FOR THIS PART...SOME OVER A PERIOD OF MONTHS. I NEED MY VEHICLE. I'VE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE/CORPORATE WHO HAS BEEN GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND AND EVEN PROMISING ME A RENTAL CAR...BUT NOT MAKING GOOD ON THEIR PROMISE. 2011 DODGE DURANGO BEGAN TO NOT START. JUST AS OTHERS.. HAD TO TRY STARTING AND WOULD FINALLY TURN OVER. AFTER A VISIT TO DEALER, WHERE NO DIAGNOSIS CODES SHOWED UP..AND NO WARNING SYSTEM LIGHTS WERE ON, WE TOOK HOME. CONTINUED TO DO THIS FOR NEXT WEEK, EVEN STALLED WHILE ON ROAD WHILE GOING 50 MPH, AND AT A STOPLIGHT. BIG SAFETY ISSUE HERE AS COULD HAVE GOT REARENDED W/A 3YR IN CAR. ENOUGH...BACK TO DODGE DEALER, TOWED THIS TIME CAUSE WOULDN'T START AT ALL. IT HAS BEEN AT DEALER FOR 2 WEEKS PRESENTLY. HAVE BEGUN TO FIGHT CHRYSLER/DODGE AS IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH OVER 3/36000 AS THE PART TIPM CONTROLS THE ITEMS COVERED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NATIONWIDE RECALL AS IT HAS HAPPENED TO DODGES/JEEP/ETC AND OBVIOUSLY BY SOCIAL MEDIA VIEWING IT CONTINUES. NOT ONLY A FACTORY OR PART DEFECT OBVIOUSLY BUT A SERIOUS SAFETY MATTER FOR THOSE DRIVING OR RIDING IN THE VEHICLE. ONE LAWSUIT AND MAYBE THEY WILL CORRECT? PURCHASED BRAND NEW. FIRST INCIDENT IN MAY WE USED THE KEY FOB TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE RAN FOR 5 MINUTES THEN SHUT DOWN. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND WE WERE NOT ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE USING THE MANUAL KEY OR KEY FOB-VEHICLE HAVING IT TOWED. UNKNOWN CAUSE! IN JUNE, THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED WITH THE KEY FOB AND PLACED MY TWIN 3 YR OLDS IN THE CAR. THE KEY FOB WAS PLACED ON THE PASSENGER SEAT IN THE VEHICLE. ALL DOORS WERE SHUT WHEN I WAS WALKED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEN SUDDENLY THE DOORS LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AFTER 10 MINUTES, 122 DEGREES OUTSIDE. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE DOORS TO ALL LOCK. MASSIVE MALFUNCTION. I HAD TO CALL THE 911 AND HAVE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESCUE MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE VEHICLE! INCIDENT UNKNOWN NEXT, FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS WE ARE HAVING ISSUES GETTING THE CAR TO START WITH THE PUSH BUTTON, KEY FOB AND MANUAL START. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY. NO FIX. DEALERSHIP DETERMINE THERE IS NOT A FIX AS OF THIS POINT AND HANDED US THE KEYS AND TOLD US WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THERE IS A FIX. THEY STATED THEY WILL CALL WHEN THEY DETERMINED WHY SO MANY VEHICLES HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. ELECTRICAL PROBLEM? AFTER, STILL PROBLEMS FOR 2M THE PUSH START AND KEY FOB START HAS GOTTEN WORSE. IT TAKES 8-15 TRIES TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED! PROBLEM UNRESOLVED! NEXT THIS PAST WEEK HAVING SAME STARTING ISSUES, THE CARS HAS A "FAN SOUND" AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. IT RUNS DOWN THE BATTERY AND BATTERY DIES EVERY DAY. NOW, ITS BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN! THE CAR DOES NOT START FOR THEM TO [XXX] LOOK AT IT! END RESULT! ENGINE WOULD SPORADICALLY START AND BEGIN TO IDLE, WITHIN SECONDS IDLE RPM WOULD PROGRESSIVELY DECREASE INCITING KNOCKING NOISES AND SEVERE SHAKING, ULTIMATELY CAUSING ENGINE TO SHUTOFF. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO DISCUSS PROBLEM WITH SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHICH INSTRUCTED THE REMOVAL OF THE PUSH/START BUTTON FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND TO UTILIZE THE KEY FOB FOR IGNITION; CITING POSSIBLE PUSH/START BUTTON MALFUNCTION. THIS IGNITION METHOD RESOLVED PROBLEM FOR INITIAL INCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY, SAME ENGINE IGNITION MALFUNCTION MANIFEST. AFTER MULTIPLE IGNITION ATTEMPTS VEHICLE STARTED AND WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED TIPM MALFUNCTION WITH FUEL PUMP OR FUEL PUMP RELAY. SERVICE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THE TIPM WAS ON INTERNATIONAL BACKORDER WITH NO KNOWN AVAILABILITY DATE. SERVICE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THE DEALERSHIP HAD ALREADY CONDUCTED 9 TIPM REPLACEMENTS AND HAD 4 VEHICLES ON THE LOT CURRENTLY AWAITING REPLACEMENT PARTS. DUE TO LACK OF REPLACEMENT TIPM, VEHICLE IS STILL PRESENTING IGNITION MALFUNCTION AND IS HIGHLY UNRELIABLE IN ITS CURRENT STATE. *JB
