My car has had 2 repairs for fuel pump relay issues. 2014 and 2020. recently, I noticed while driving my car will stall while accelerating on the highway. I had to pull over into emergency lane 3 times during 1 trip before, because the car stalled while driving. Just recently I noticed and took videos/pictures of the car going 40 mph but the RPM moving sporadically between 0-7000. It has always felt like a fuel pump issue but dodge servicers does not know whats going on. There was never a warning light until it stalled recently. Red lightning bolt popped up. I have pictures if that also.

Engine stopped while driving and steering was pulling to the right..was able to start back up and park it..has p0303 code..and p0300 code pending...checked number 3 spark plugs. And engine seems to be burning oil..cleaned up spark plugs and white smoke is coming out driver side exhaust pipe..will try changing pvc valve next..

This SUV has had 2 recalls for the same fuel system relay problem, And now after approximately 2or3 yrs ago, and now it's doing the same exact thing again, you'll be driving down the road and it will just shut off and a red lighting built will show up, lucky we had a safe place to pull off the road and get stopped, but this is a very dangerous situation for my wife and kids to be in

No brakes, brake booster had failed and also has recall part for brake booster.. the safety of my entire family was put at risk, I almost crashed into traffic. vehicle was taken to local dealership, was told FUEL PUMP relay has recall. no parts available, ONE YEAR LATER, STILL WAITING AND STILL NO PARTS AVAILABLE. All current recalls have been performed on this vehicle. While making left and right hand turns after coasting down from a highway speed (55MPH or greater) the vehicle will stall. We will loose all power steering and brakes. No warning lights come on and everything appears normal except the engine is not running. Something in the fuel or electrical system is intermittently failing. I suspect it to be a "Dumb" device. Something that is told to turn on or off but there is no feedback to the computer to set a code when it fails. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time. This started occurring after one of the fuel pump relay recalls. It happens at random and is hard to duplicate, while we do have video of it, the dealer has been unable to duplicate it. The vehicle shows no codes, or anything wrong when it happens. Once the vehicle is stopped, shifted back into park, it will restart and run just fine. This has placed us in unsafe conditions in the middle of the opposing lane, in a turn, trying to restart the vehicle before another car comes around the turn. It is also hard to steer and stop a large SUV when power steering and brakes have been lost. There have been several close calls of getting the vehicle stopped prior to going off the road. The dealer has checked the vehicle over with no solution found for the issue. There has never been any warning lights associated with the vehicle stalling while driving. The vehicle does not know anything is wrong.

We received notice, by mail, of a safety recall (19V-813) on our Dodge Durango in Jan 2021. We made an appt for 1/13 at Bob Baker Dodge in Carlsbad, CA. Upon arrival, we were told the part was backordered and they would call us when it arrived. Juan Gonzalez was the service advisor we spoke with. In May, after no call, our vehicle began showing signs of the problem. Hesitating, failing to start. We called Juan who stated there were still no parts and he wasn't allowed to keep a list of customers waiting for parts since it would be too extensive. We called Dodge (maybe Mopar) corporate (800-853-1403) on 6/1. Aby gave us a few other dealers to try. After no luck with them, we called back. Tim claimed he would escalate our case and promised someone would call us within 24 hours. After receiving no call, we called again on 6/3. Pam said that our case was never escalated. And had no solution for us. Given the safety recall states "A vehicle stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning" we've now rented a car since we're not comfortable driving our Durango. I feel both Dodge/Mopar and our local dealer are simply dragging their feet on this safety recall.

I HAD A FUEL PUMP RELAY REPLACED IN 2015, AND HAVE HAD A LOT OF SMALL PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OVER THE YEARS. ONCE THE VEHICLE PASSED 80,000 MILES THIS YEAR ALL KINDS OF THINGS STARTED HAPPENING. THE COOLING SYSTEM WENT HAYWIRE AND MY AUTO REPAIR SHOP HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR. I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE HESITATING TO START LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING FUEL, AND HAVE TROUBLE ACCELERATING SO I CANNOT PULL OUT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC UNLESS THERE IS A GOOD BREAK WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS HAVING A HEMI V8 ENGINE! I'VE BEEN TOWED TWICE THIS YEAR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT ALL BUT THEN IT ENDED UP STARTING WHEN IT GOT TO MY AUTO REPAIR SHOP OR THE DEALER. I WAS NOT ONLY EMBARRASSED BUT WASTED TIME AND MONEY. MY MECHANIC DID A LOT OF DIAGNOSTICS AND RULED OUT EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND LEARNED ABOUT THE RECALL SO I WENT TO THE DEALER AND ASKED THEM TO APPLY THE FIX. THEY HASSLED ME AND SAID THEY 'CAN NOT TRUST YOUR MECHANICS' AND MADE ME PAY FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND SAID THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE RECALL. THEY ENDED UP FINDING ANOTHER PROBLEM BASICALLY TELLING ME MY MECHANICS WERE WRONG AND CHARGED ME OVER $800 FOR A NEW PCM. THEY DID INSTALL A NEW FUEL PUMP RELAY AT MY INSISTENCE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE ORIGINAL PART AND NOT A FIXED PART. IT RESOLVED THE STARTING ISSUE AND I STOPPED GETTING ANY WARNING LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE STILL DIDN'T ACCELERATE OR HANDLE PROPERLY AND NOT EVEN FOUR MONTHS LATER AND THE SAME PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN! THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS OBVIOUSLY FAILING AGAIN AND I AM NOT CONFIDENT THE PCM HAD A PROBLEM IF I'M STILL GETTING THE SAME ISSUES. COULD IT BE THE TIPM I KEEP READING ABOUT? I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO ANCHORAGE CHRYSLER DODGE IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA FOR FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL REPAIR. THEY STATED THAT OVER THE 3 DAY THEY HAD MY TRUCK THAT IT STARTED EVERY TIME BUT DID STALL OUT TWICE. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THE RECALL STATING THAT THE NO START ISSUE DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE IN THERE CARE BUT THAT IT DID START AND STALL OUT. HAVE TRIED THREE TIME TO GET MCKENNY DODGE TO FIX SAFETY RECALL FOR TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE BUT CONTINUE TO BE TOLD THE PARTS FOR A FIX HAVE NOT BEEN PROVIDED. EARLIER THIS YEAR THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY LOST POWER AND THEY REPLACED THE OIL PUMP ($1432). NOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY REPLACED CAM POSITION SENSOR ($280) BUT 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT' STILL ON AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS SO NOW THEY WANT TO REPLACE THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH AND OIL FILTER HOUSING FOR OVE $1,000. BUT WITH NO ASSURANCE THAT IT FIXES THE PROBLEM. COULD THE RECALL ISSUE WITH YHE INTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY BE CAUSING THE INTERMITTENT HESITATION. CAR IS ALWAYS IN MOTION AND COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHETHER IT BE ON THE STREET, HIGHWAY (LITERALLY HAD TO PUT IN PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE DURING TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY) OR TURNING A CORNER, IT COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND "FSW" FLASHES. ALL POWER IS TURNED OFF AND LITERALLY HAVE TO DRIVE OFF TO THE SIDE (IF I AM ABLE TO), OF I JUST SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF MY ROUTE, PUT IN PARK AND CONTINUE ON MY DRIVE. WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SLOWING DOWN TO STOP OR EXIT THE ROAD VIA OFF RAMP OR TURN, THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY STALL CAUSING BRAKES AND STEERING TO BECOME NON-RESPONSIVE. THERE IS NO WARNING PRIOR TO VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN. IT HAPPENS SUDDENLY AND RANDOMLY. IT ALWAYS APPEARS TO BE WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO EXIT A ROAD OR TAKE A TURN. I HAVE TO COAST THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT STOPS AND PUT IT INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL TO START IT AGAIN. IT WORKS FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME. IT HAS HAPPENED SIX TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH.

I HAD JUST STARTED DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY DASH STARTED DINGING AND MY TEMP WENT FROM COLD TO EXTREMELY HOT SO I PULLED OVER.THERE WAS PLENTY OF OIL AND WATER IN IT(I DOUBLE CHECKED).I STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND IT WENT COLD AGAIN,AS I STARTED DRIVING TO THE NEAREST EXIT OFF THE FREEWAY A FEW NOMENTS LATER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT,IT ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT WOUNDNT LET ME GIVE IT GAS.IT SLOWED WAY DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY.I GOT IT OFF THE FREEWAY EVENTUALLY IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL THEN QUICKLY STARTED TO MAKE AN AWFUL SOUND.I STOPPED THE CAR AGAIN FOR THE FOURTH TIME AND OPENED THE HOOD AND HOT SMOKE VAME OUT.AFTER I LET IT COOL FOR 2 HOURS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IT WOUNDNT START.IT WANTED TO BUT NO FUEL WAS GETTING TO WHERE IT WAS SUPPOSE TOO.I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND NO BLOWN ROD.THEY SAID OT LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SOMETHING OR OTHER.I HAD IT TOLLED TO MY HOME 335 MILES AWAY WHERE IT SITS BROKE AND IT COST ME 300.00 THU AAA.TWO DAYS LATER ON 8/17/18 I GET A RECALL NOTICE ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND ALTERNATOR DIODE THERMAL FATIGUE.THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS MY CAR ALMOST CAUSED A HUGE MULTI CAR COLLISION ON I 30 IN TX. THE LAST RECALL THAT WAS PERFORMED WAS THE P54 FUEL RELAY. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS SOMEWHERE IN THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE REASON I SUSPECT THIS IS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS LOTS OF INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY FOR NO REASON SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, POWER LOCKS OPEN ON THEIR OWN, VEHICLE HAS DIFFICULTY STARTING AT TIMES AND THEN STARTS RIGHT UP MOST OF THE TIME, AND ALL WITHOUT A WARNING OR ERROR CODE ON THE DASHBOARD. THE MOST RECENT PROBLEM ALMOST KILLED ME AND MY FAMILY THIS MORNING AS THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, AGAIN NO ERROR CODES OR WARNINGS. AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE OPENED BECAUSE THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE VEHICLE CAN TURN OFF AT ANY MOMENT AND WITHOUT WARNING.

MY VEHICLE PUSH TO START SYSTEM STICKS AND THE VEHICLE TAKES LONG ATTEMPTING TO START. MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING HAS GONE DEAD ON ME ALTHOUGH THE DASH IS STILL LITE RADIO PLAYING. THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENS AND THE BRAKES GET HARD. I HAVE TO STRUGGLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP IN ORDER TO PLACE THE CAR BACK IN NEUTRAL OR PARK IN ORDER TO START IT AGAIN. IT HAS STALLED WHILE IN MOTION, WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT, WHILE MAKING A TURN. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES OF OTHER CARS, CURBS, AND DITCHES. I USE THIS CAR EVERY DAY TO TRANSPORT MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES, HAVE HAD THE TIPM BYPASS AND THE CAR STILL HARD STARTS AND STALLS DESPITE THE RECALLS. I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS SITUATION THAT IS A DEFINITE HAZARD. MOST RECENT COMPLAINT, MY CAR HAS BE IDLING HIGH AND NOW FINALLY IT OVERHEAT AND THE WATER PUMP HAS TO BE REPLACED. ON AN INTERMITTENT, BUT REGULAR BASIS, THE VEHICLE (2011 DODGE DURANGO) STALLS WHEN SLOWING INTO A TURN OR APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT. ONCE THE VEHICLE STALLS, THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS RESULTED IN SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND EVEN OBJECTS (CURBS, LIGHT POLES, ETC.) I USE THIS VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN ON A DAILY BASIS AND AM CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY AS WELL AS MY OWN. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS PURCHASED FROM (ARRIGO DODGE, CHRYSLER, JEEP RAM) IN WEST PALM BEACH FL. EIGHT (8) TIMES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPLACED VARIOUS PARTS, AND EVEN BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM ONCE, HOWEVER, EVERY TIME WE GET THE VEHICLE BACK, WITHIN A FEW DAYS OR WEEKS IT STALLS AGAIN. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, INCLUDING ONE FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WITHIN THE TIPM-7 AND ONE FOR THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR, BOTH OF WHICH CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL. I HAVE INCLUDED AS MANY OF THE APPLICABLE SERVICE REPORTS AS THE UPLOAD WILL ALLOW. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY CONTACTED CHRYSLER AT ONE POINT, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY ANSWERS AS TO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND SHOULD BE PAID FOR AND FIXED BY MOPAR AND NOT THE CUSTOMER!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR RIMS OF THE TIRES WERE REPLACED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER STATED THE RIMS WERE NOT COMPLETELY MADE OF ALUMINUM, WHICH POSSIBLY WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL EMITTING AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THEN THERE WAS A FUEL TYPE RECALL, A RECALL THAT THE ENGINE COULD SHUT OFF AND SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE.. AGAIN I COULDNT GET ANY OF THESE REPAIRED. THEN ON THE NIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING 2014 MY HEAT WENT. ON FRIDAY 11/28/14 I TRIED 3 CHRYSLER DEALER SHIPS TO GET THE HEAT FIXED AND SCHEDULE TIME FOR THE RECALL. ONE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I WAS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST BECAUSE I DIDNT PURCHASE THE TRUCK FROM THEM. I ENDED UP TRADING IN THE TRUCK FOR A NISSAN PATHFINDER ON THAT DAY. AND ALMOST A MONTH LATER I RECEIVED A BILL FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER SHIP WHO HAD FINALLY COMPLETED THE RECALL WORK EXPECTING 165.00 FROM ME. I AM SO FINANCIALLY RUINED FROM THIS.

WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR WILL ABRUPTLY SPEED UP AND SLOW DOWN WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE OR CHANGE IN MOVEMENT ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE ABOUT EARLY 2012. I HAD A REPAIR DONE ON THE CAR BY THE DEALERSHIP AS PART OF MY WARRANTY NOW THESE PROBLEMS HAVE MADE A REAPPEARANCE. ALONG SIDE SUDDEN SPEED CHANGES WITHOUT ME TOUCHING ANYTHING, I HAVE HAD TWO PREVIOUS INCIDENTS OF THE CAR (WHILE DRIVING!) TURNING ON ALL ERROR INDICATORS (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, HIGH BEAM, HAZARD LIGHTS, TIRE PRESSURE ETC) AND WIPER BLADES SIMULTANEOUSLY. THESE WERE VERY SCARY INCIDENTS, TOO SCARED TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP I RETURNED TO MY HOUSE (WENT TO DROP MY SON OFF TO GET A HAIR CUT) AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE NEXT DAY. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FOB TECHNOLOGY IN THE KEYLESS START OF THE CAR WHERE I WOULD PUT MY PURSE IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR, CLOSE THE DOOR AND ALL DOORS LOCK AND WILL NOT UNLOCK, THEN I HAVE TO ONCE AGAIN CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND WAIT FOR THEM TO ASSIST ME. ONE OF THE MAIN REASON I BOUGHT THIS CAR IS BECAUSE I WAS ASSURED KEYS LOCKED IN THE CAR WOULD NEVER HAPPEN, HOWEVER I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN TO ME MORE THAN ALL MY OTHER CARS IN THE PAST. NOW I HAVE A SMALL CHILD WITH ME AND ALONG SIDE THESE RECENT REOCCURRENCE OF SERIOUS ISSUES WITH MY CAR AND BIG RECALL BY FCA, NO LONGER DO I FEEL SAFE DRIVING.

I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES FROM MY HOME TO VISIT RELATIVES FOR THE 4TH OF JULY. TWO HOURS AFTER ARRIVING I WENT TO DRIVE MY DURANGO AND IT WOULDN'T START. WHEN PUSHING THE IGNITION BUTTON IT WOULD JUST MAKE A LOUD NOISE SIMILAR TO THE ALTERNATOR GOING OUT AND WOULDN'T START. MY DURANGO HAD TO BE TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT FOLLOWING MONDAY SINCE THEY CLOSED EARLY FOR THE 4TH OF JULY. DIAGNOSTICS WERE RAN AND IT WAS CONCLUDED THE FUEL PUMP WAS OUT. THIS HAPPENED LESS THAN 1 YEAR FROM HAVING THE TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY REPAIRED ON 7/25/14, WHICH CHRYSLER LATER ISSUED A RECALL FOR. I'M IN THE PROCESS OF SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THOSE REPAIRS. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THERE IS A DIRECT CORRELATION TO THE FAULTY TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY CAUSING THE ACTUAL FUEL PUMP TO FAIL AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY CHRYSLER. REPAIRS WERE IN EXCESS OF OVER 1K TO HAVE FIXED.

STALLING OCCURRED AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND MAKING TURNS. HAPPEN ONCE WHILE MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE GOING TO STORE. SHE WILL NOT DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE. I INITIALLY BOUGHT THE 2011 DODGE DURANGO FROM GILLMAN NISSAN OF ROSENBERG TX. DRIVING THROUGH TOWN, EVERY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND WIPERS STARTING GOING UNCONTROLLABLY. RPM STARTING DIVING TO 0 AND THEN BACK UP TO APPROPRIATE RPM FOR SPEED. OTHER DIALS AND NAV/MEDIA SCREEN ALSO STARTING FLASHING. TONES AND LIGHTS KEPT FLASHING ON AND OFF AND I IMMEDIATELY PROCEEDED THE FEW MILES DOWN THE STREET TO DROP IT OFF AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE WAS UP TO DATE ON ALL SERVICE AND RECALLS, EXCEPT THE FUEL PUMP RECALL WHICH WE WERE TOLD WE WERE IN LINE FOR BASED ON PARTS AND CAPACITY ISSUES. I SPENT $1300 TO REPLACE THE TIPM TO FIX 37 OUT OF THE 38 CODES, AND THEN ANOTHER $1300 FOR A NEW HEADLIGHT POWER MODULE (FOR THE LAST CODE) WHICH SHORTED OUT AND, PER THE MECHANIC, SHORTED OUT THE ORIGINAL TIPM (SINCE THEY ARE IN SERIES WITH NO PROTECTION BETWEEN). THE TIPM HOUSES ALL OF THESE POWER MODULES INTERNALLY, SO ONE BAD SHORT ON A SUBCOMPONENT CAN RUIN YOUR ENTIRE TIPM. THE RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP POWER MODULE ADDS AN EXTERNAL COMPONENT FOR THIS SUBSYSTEM TO PROTECT IT FROM THESE TIPM FAILURES, BUT DOES NOT ADDRESS THE MAJOR TIPM SAFETY ISSUE! FROM RESEARCHING OTHER OWNERS' EXPERIENCES I WAS LUCKY THE ENTIRE VEHICLE DIDN'T SHUT DOWN ON ME WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS OUR DURANGO HAS HAD ISSUES WITH STARTING. WHEN USING THE PUSH START BUTTON THE ENGINE WILL CRANK OVER MULTIPLE TIMES AND NEVER START. I BOUGHT A 2011 DODGE DURANGO IN OCTOBER OF 2013. THERE HAVE SINCE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS, ALL TOOK SOME TIME TO RESOLVE BECAUSE THERE WERE PART SHORTAGES ON BOTH OCCASIONS. THE MOST RECENT PROBLEM THAT HAS YET TO BE OFFICIALLY TERMED A RECALL BECAUSE CHRYSLER CLAIMS THEY ARE STILL "RESEARCHING" THE ISSUE INVOLVES A FAULTY IGNITION WIRING HARNESS. THIS DEFECT PREVENTS THE PROPER COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE IGNITION AND FUEL SYSTEMS, WHICH RESULTS IN A VEHICLE THAT HAS PROBLEMS STARTING OR WON'T START ALTOGETHER. MY VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE LATTER CATEGORY AS IT IS CURRENTLY STUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS A NATIONWIDE BACKORDER FOR PARTS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AND CHRYSLER CORPORATION IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET IN DECLARING IT A RECALL, PRESUMABLY TRYING TO AVOID BAD PUBLICITY. AFTER SEVERAL MORE ATTEMPTS IT FINALLY STARTED AND SHE WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. AS SHE LEFT WORK THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURED TURN THE KEY NOTHING, TURN THE KEY NOTHING, TAKE THE KEY OUT, TURN THE KEY, IT CRANKS AND THEN SHUTS OFF. AFTER GOING THROUGH THE SAME ROUTINE OVER AND OVER WE FINALLY GOT IT TO CRANK. WE DECIDED TO HAVE THE CAR BATTERY TESTED AND IT PASSED. WE GOT A NEW BATTERY FOR THE REMOTE BUT THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WE FINALLY TOOK OUR DURANGO TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY 9/17 KNOWING THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE $100 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. WE EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND EVEN TOOK THE SERVICE MAN TO THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. SO HE ACTUALLY OBSERVED THE ISSUE. 2HRS LATER THEY CALL SAYING A PROBLEM COULD'NT BE FOUND. THE TEST DIDN'T PRODUCE A CODE. OK, SO WE SPENT $100 DOLLARS ON A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WITH NO DIAGNOSIS. AS WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I ASKED THE SERVICE MAN IF THEY HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND OF COURSE HIS ANSWER WAS NO. HE SUGGESTED IT WAS PROBABLY A COMMUNICATION PROBLEM. WELL DUH, SOMETHING WASN'T COMMUNICATING. HE TELLS US TO MAKE SURE ALL DOORS, INCLUDING THE REAR HATCH ARE CLOSED BEFORE STARTING. NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING FOR $100. AROUND THE MIDDLE OF JULY 2014 THE PROBLEM STARTED TO GET MUCH WORSE, THE CAR SOMETIMES NOT STARTING MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE DAY EVEN AFTER SHORT STOPS. AROUND THE END OF JULY MY WIFE HAD THE PROBLEM HAPPEN TO HER, GOT THE VEHICLE STARTED, BUT AS SHE BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE TRAFFIC LANE. THREE DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN WOULDN'T START, BUT THE "RESET AND REPRESS" TACTIC WOULD WORK AND THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN. AROUND AUGUST 7 2014 THE PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE. THE VEHICLE TOOK MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AND 1-2 MINUTES TO GET RUNNING ON SEVERAL MORNINGS, NOW THOUGH THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL ONCE STARTED AND BEFORE MOVING. ONCE RUNNING, IN GEAR, AND MOVING THE CAR WOULD RUN FINE. CAR FAILED TO START THEN EACH MORNING AUG 15-17, TAKING 1-2 MINUTES EACH MORNING AND MULTIPLE STALLS. ON AFTERNOON OF AUGUST 17, 5 MINUTES AFTER MAKING A DEALER APT FOR NEXT MORNING, I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 10 MILES PER HOUR AND THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WENT OUT AS WELL. ONLY AFTER 3 MINUTES DID FINALLY USING THE REMOTE START FUNCTION ON THE KEY FOB GET THE VEHICLE TO START AND RUN, THIS ON A VERY BUSY ROADWAY BLOCKING A LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE ISSUE STARTED WITH INTERMITTENT ISSUES WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE (THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK, BUT NEVER TURN OVER) IN ADDITION TO OTHER PROBLEMS SUCH AS RANDOM PUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AND THE HORN GOING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ON THE DATE THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DODGE DEALER, I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START AT ALL. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT DISCOVERED THAT THE ISSUES WERE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE TIPM. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PART, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY WIDESPREAD ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A NATIONAL SHORTAGE OF THE PART FOR SEVERAL MONTHS DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING NUMBER OF FAILURES RESULTING FROM THIS DEFECTIVE PART. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, WOULD START THEN IT WOULD SHUT OFF WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF BEING ON, THIS WOULD BE REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD STAY ON AND WE COULD DRIVE IT. SOMETIMES IT WOULD BE FINE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD BE A CONTINUED PROBLEM THROUGHOUT THE SAME DAY. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 013, AND WE DID TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT NEW AND THEY SAID IT WAS ONLY THE COMPUTERS NEEDING TO BE CALIBRATED OR RESET. WE NOTIFIED THE DEALER THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED, BUT THEY DID NOT FIND A SOLUTION. IT IS NOW MARCH, 2014 AND IN RECENT DAYS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE'S FUEL LINE RELAY STAYING ENGAGED AFTER WE HAVE TURNED OFF AND REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS NEW PROBLEM WILL STAY ONGOING UNTIL WE REMOVE THE M20 FUSE. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WILL BRING IT IN. WE PHYSICALLY WENT TO THE DEALER AND SPOKE WITH A SALES REP. WE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR WANTING TO START OR START FOR A FEW SECONDS AND SLOWLY DIE UNTIL WE HEAR A KNOCKING SOUND. AFTER QUITE A FEW ATTEMPTS THE CAR WOULD FINALLY START. 2011 DODGE DURANGO, WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS IDENTIFIED AS A FAULTY TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) THAT WAS NOT SENDING SIGNAL CORRECTLY TO FUEL PUMP. DEALERSHIP MADE US PAY $900 PLUS FOR THE PART AND LET US DRIVE IT OFF THE LOT. ISSUE STILL OCCURRED FOR A LITTLE OVER A WEEK BEFORE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE GOING 60 MPH DOWN THE ROAD. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP AND CONTINUED TO BEHAVE THE SAME UNTIL ONE DAY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START ANY MORE AT ALL. NOW WHAT HAPPEN WAS THE TIPM WAS CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO STAY ON ALL THE TIME AND THUS DRAINED THE BATTERY, AND NOW THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AT ALL. THE VEHICLE IS JUST OVER TWO YEARS OLD. TODAY WE CONTACTED THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND WERE TOLD, THEY WERE NOT EVEN SUPPOSE TO LET US DRIVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE LOT WITH THE TIPM BEING BAD. WE HAVE WAITED OVER 10 WEEKS FOR A REPLACEMENT PART AFTER THEY HAVE ALREADY TAKEN THE MONEY AND WERE TOLD TODAY BY CORPORATE THAT OVER +1000 OF THE TIPMS ARE ON BACK ORDER WITH NO EXPECTED DATE OF DELIVERY. THE TIPM ON MY CAR IS CAUSING THE FUEL SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION BUT SINCE THE TIPM IS THE FUSE BOX IT CONTROLS MULTIPLE COMPONENTS ON THE VEHICLE.
