My vehicle has had recalls performed multiple times since 1st purchased in 2012. The issue was vehicle stalling. At 1st Chrysler / Dodge addressed it as issues upon start up where the vehicle sounded as though it was skipping when hitting the ignition button. They attempted to remedy this with multiple fuel pump relay recalls. They attempted to do internal which did not work. They then went external which also did not work. Nothing was ever formerly recognized as a suitable resolution, so any of us dealing with this were just forgotten. Well I still have this vehicle and it has gotten worse to the point the vehicle will randomly stall while in motion as it did the other day and on multiple other occasions. Under braking conditions the vehicle stalls where everything on the dash appears normal electronically, there is just no power and the steering locks up. I have addressed this multiple times with Dodge customer service as well as my local dealership. The dealership does not want to attempt any repairs because they want to be paid and the manufacturer is not entertaining it. I am aware the vehicle is out of warranty but I am not paying for something the manufacturer has known about since first purchased. There has been no further actions by the manufacturer to address this. They have moved on to newer existing Durango models.

The 2014 through 2018 3.6L Pentastar motors are covered under a tech service bulletin for their Drivers side valve train being manufactured incorrectly. This can lead to a misfire and hesitation to accelerate in an Emergency. This happened to me recently and I thought it was just a bad spark plug. Mechanic did a full check and believes there is a stuck valve in the engine on the exact same side that the 2014 to 2018 motors are prone to failure. I believe the 2012 and 2013 Engines are also prone to the same failures as their newer counter parts. As I was trying to accelerate to avoid an incident my car stuttered and started to misfire badly. Almost causing a collision. This happened without warning and never previously had this issue. Vehicle was completely mechanically sound before this. This can happen without any warning or signs its going to happen. And after bringing the vehicle to a mechanic and doing much of my own research it appears that the drivers side of the 3.6L v6 in my vehicle is currently under a TSB for the #2,4,6 cylinder head. This can cause the vehicle to have no power for a moment which if I were merging onto the highway and lacked powered could result in a rear end collision. Believe this is a safety issue as well as mechanical issue.

Sudden loud knocking then pop, started smoking pulled over immediately. Due to rod bearing failure rod went through block and all oil came out. Vehicle is available for inspection. Drivers safety was at risk because vehicle lost power and was unable to exit the roadway in a timely manner. No warning was given other than heard a couple of clicks then immediately followed by a loud pop.

I Came into dealership for scheduled service appointment on Apr 5, 2023 10:30:00 AM at EDWARDS CDJR OF OMAHA to get recall fixed on fuel pump relay and an oil change after receiving my 2012 Dodge Durango Citadel back my lights randomly starting blanking and my vehicle stalled and it wouldn’t start or turn over. So I spoke to service rep [XXX] at EDWARDS CDJR OF OMAHA 17950 Burt St and had the car towed back to the dealership that fixed on it EDWARDS CDJR OF OMAHA. I was originally told they didn’t have a loaner to lend to me so I can continue being a caregiver to my mother and transport her and my 7 children around until 04/21/2023 and that someone would call me that day to pickup a loaner vehicle. I called on 04/21/2023 about the loaner and they said someone would call me by midday to pick up a loaner. Now it’s Monday 04/24/2023 and I get a text stating 10 things are wrong with my vehicle in this link https://c.xtime.com/vkepCy2nkAoA2L4fXX including the PCM, which was more items then what was originally stated when they had inspected my vehicle on 04/05/2023 during the recall fix. So I informed them that, “ I will not pay for the pcm to be fixed because this issue is a result of whoever was the mechanic that was originally supposed to fix the recall fuel pump relay, so your shop has to fix it due to negligence on your mechanic's fault. I don't want to have to take anyone to court or give this issues to an attorney, this was sent to better business bureau because I have been left without transportation and facing economic hardship due to this situation.” Then they had their Service Manager [XXX] reach out to me over the phone, and he said that he spoke to three on-site master mechanic at the dealership and they all said the PCM had nothing to do with the fuel pump relay recall. I asked about escalating the issue and submitting an incident report to an higher up authority, he said he can’t. I asked again about the loaner he said there’s no loaner available. While driving at various speeds, upon slowing down the vehicle stalled. This occurred 50+ times. This occurred while my family was in the vehicle on many occasions. Vehicle was serviced for fuel pump recall, however the stalling continued. My mechanic pointed out the ticking noise, referring to the manifold needing repair. Most recently, the car barely wanted to turn over. Struggling for almost 3 days, thankfully I just pulled into my driveway and turn the car off. Then something told me to try to start the vehicle…well that made something smoke in the motor? Repaired the alternator, battery, and starter. Two days later, check oil light comes on, Back to shop to tell me the cam shaft/lifers need to be replaced!!! Quoted $35-4000 if can find a cam shaft repair kit!!!

Engine light on, car was over a month for repair at Rairdon Dodge in Redmond, WA, paid over 5000 in repair, in the end they said can not be fixed needs a new engine. Engine light was on again after 49 miles , misfire cilinder 1, 3, 5 . And fuel pump again. Rairdon contacted Chrysler and nothing. Thanks

My check engine light came on for my engine oil filter housing ! I had it repaired a total of 4 times already ! This recent time it put my vehicle into limp mode while doing 65 mph on the highway I had loss all power to my car ! Now even after repair my check engine still comes on with code and sends my car into limp mode until my PCM gets reflashed

Had the recall for shutting down repair again and still having the same problem. I've spent over $2000 In diagnosed fees with dealership and private shops and still having the same problem. Yes the fuel pump relay was replaced 2 times. Still having the same problem it will start back up but locks the steering wheel to where you can't turn it. Which almost was in a accident but was able to stop before. It's happens every month but was told not to bring it back to the dealership as they cant find the problem as all recalls were repaired.

Vechile stalls and unable to shift to drive freely

Lifter and limp mode problems. There is noise comming from engine. Took to shop and found out reason for noise and low power was lifters and is a very common problem. What brought the safety thing up is wife was in accident in March because couldn't get out of way quick enough. Had vehicle towed to shop from accident site and body repair. Thought was just a fluke and had damage repaired and noticed a ticking and power problems immediately after accident repair. Took to dodge dealer and found out common problem with the lifters cam and limp mode. Had at same repair shop for other recall 2 months prior for recall and inspection with no noise or issues.

REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR TWICE A NEW BATTERY AND STILL CAN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PUT THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR IN THE PCM AND I GUESS WHEN IT ALL SHUT DOWN ON MY WIFE IT MESSED THAT UP. MY VEHICLE BEGAN HAVING THIS ISSUE IN 2015. MY VEHICLE HAS A LONG CRANK AND SOMETIMES DOES NOT TURN OVER. IT WILL ALSO TURN OVER, THEN SPUTTER OUT AFTER RUNNING FOR 20-30 SECONDS. IN 2015, I BEGAN TO HAVE THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE NOT TURNING ON/NOT TURNING OVER. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED DEALER AND THE TIPM MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY HAD THE ISSUE TURNING OVER, BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. IN 2016, MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE HAZARD LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN ON, AND THE GEARS WOULD NOT CHANGE TO FACILITATE A TOW. UPON OPENING THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE, IT APPEARED AS THOUGH THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE ALTERNATOR AND FUSES (OF WHICH I HAVE VIDEO). I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS CALLED BY A SERVICE ADVISOR THE NEXT DAY. I WAS TOLD THAT MY WIN MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED, WHICH I PAID FOR. IN ADDITION, MY BATTERY HAD DIED, AND I PAID TO REPLACE THAT. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP I HAD VIDEO OF THE ALTERNATOR AND FUSES MALFUNCTIONING AND THEY STATED THEY DID NOT NEED THE VIDEO AS THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSIS POINTED TO AN ISSUE WITH THE WIN MODULE. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, I BEGAN TO HAVE THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE NOT TURNING OVER. I REQUESTED A TOW AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SUGGESTED I USE THE ACTUAL KEY INSTEAD OF THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION, WHICH I HAVE BEEN DOING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN IN OCTOBER, AS THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEGAN TO HAVE THE LONG CRANK ISSUE AND WOULD INTERMITTENTLY NOT START. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY ALTERNATOR, BUT A REPLACEMENT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY ALTERNATOR, BUT INFORMED ME THAT IT STILL WOULD NOT BE THE IMPROVED/RECALL PART. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK IN THREE (3) MORE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND EVERY TIME, I AM TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE REQUIRED A SOFTWARE UPDATE.

WITHIN IN 2 MINUTES OF INSTALLING BOTH, MY CAR DID THE SAME EXACT THING. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. I EXPLAINED THAT I HAD ALREADY REPLACED IT AND THINK IT COULD BE MORE SEVERE. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR WITH LABOR I'M LOOKING AT $1200. THAT'S NOT INCLUDING IF THAT DOESN'T FIX THE ISSUE. THEY SAIS IT COULD HAVE FRIED MY (PCM) POWER CONTROL MODULE WHICH COULD COST ME AT LEAST $1000 MORE PLUS LABOR. HOW IS IT THEY AREN'T RECALLING THE 2012 DURANGO WITH 180 AMP ALTERNATOR BUT ALL THE OTHERS? THIS CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD, I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR GOING ON 3 TIMES NOW. THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING (VERY INTERMITTENTLY). DOES NOT LOG ANY ENGINE CODES AND MAINLY HAPPENS ON DECELERATION. BUT HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN EXITING THE FREEWAY AND ALSO AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN COMING TO A STOP SIGN. WHEN THE ENGINE STALLS YOU LOOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES BUT ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS KEEP WORKING RADIO, LIGHTS, ETC... I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER CARE OPENED A CASE, WHICH THEY ASSISTED IN SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE VEHICLE AT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER. THE CASE WAS CLOSED BY CHRYSLER SINCE THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT AND IT NOW HAS 76,000 AND HAS STALLED ON US SEVERAL TIMES I WOULD SAY (12) OVER THE 26,000 MILES WE HAVE POUT ON IT. IF YOU GOOGLE THIS COMPLAINT/PROBLEM WITH THE 2011/2012 DURANGO IT IS WIDELY KNOWN AND A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE TO BE IGNORING, SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS.

I WAS IN LINE TO TURN LEFT UNDER THE UNDERPASS. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE WHEEL LOCKED UP AS I TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD. I HAD TO TURN ON MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND SIGNAL OTHER TO GO AROUND ON THE RIGHT BECAUSE NO ONE COULD PASS ME ON THE LEFT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THERE WAS NO DASHBOARD LIGHT TO INDICATE THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. MY SON WAS ABLE TO RECORD AND SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND NOT MOVING. I CONTACTED THE AREA MANAGER TO ASK IF THIS KNOWN, UNSAFE VEHICLE COULD BE BOUGHT BACK AT THE HIGHEST NADA VALUE. HIS RESPONSE WAS, 'I'M NOT OFFERING A REPURCHASE.' HE SHARED THAT HE WOULD GET ANOTHER TECHNICIAN PERSONALLY INVOLVED. WE JUST RECEIVED THE CAR FROM THE SHOP ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2017 AFTER THE ENTIRE TIPM WAS REPLACED AND IT STOPPED AGAIN! *TR

THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND US WHO HAD TO GO AROUND. MY CHILDREN WERE WITH ME AND ONE RECORDED TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND THAT THE BRAKE AND THE GAS WOULD NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM THE CAR. THIS IS THE THIRD DAY IN A ROW THAT VEHICLE HAS STALLED SINCE WE RECEIVED IN BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP.

AS I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO A COMMUNITY THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE FOR SAFETY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I LIFTED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND THE CAR REMAINED STILL. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR REMAINED STILL. I THEN PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AGAIN AND IT WAS STIFF. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. I PLACED MY FOOT BACK ON THE BRAKE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I PRESSED THE ENGINE BUTTON AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE CAME ON. I TURNED THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS OFF, PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND CONTINUED MY DESTINATION. DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN NJ ON 7/21/16 , ALL THE CAR WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON RANDOMLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY, WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT ON ON THEIR OWN, RADIO SHUT OFF, ALL POWER WAS LOST AND CAR SHUT DOWN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WITH LIMITED OR NO BRAKING OR STEERING POWER AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON ANY LONGER. I TRIED TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (LEFT SHOULDER WAS THE CLOSEST) WITH BIG TRUCKS AND FAST MOVING CARS GOING BY. HAD IT TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP WHICH TOOK 2 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WHICH THEY DEEMED A FAILURE OF THE MAIN BOARD WHICH CAUSED THE ALTERNATOR TO FAIL WHICH CAUSED THE BATTERY TO SEIZE AND FAIL AS WELL. THE COSTS OF REPAIR I HAD TO PAY TO FIX THE ISSUE ON MY 4 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 92K MILES ON IT WAS APPROX $1,500. THE SYMPTOMS AND DIAGNOSIS WERE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE P60 RECALL ISSUED BY CHRYLSER BUT WHEN I INQUIRED WITH CHRYSLER ABOUT GETTING MY VEHICLE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND REIMBURSED FOR THE COSTS OF REPAIR, THEY CLAIMED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO MY CAR BC IT IS 180 AMP VS 160 AMP (?) BUT IT IS VERY OBVIOUS AND CLEAR TO ME THAT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE P60 RECALL. NOT TO MENTION IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT I ENCOUNTERED WITH MY CAR STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY. IT COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC HAD I NOT BEEN ABLE TO NAVIGATE IT WELL. CHRYSLER IS BASICALLY REFUSING TO EXTEND THE RECALL TO MY VIN # AND NOT REIMBURSING MY REPAIR COSTS.

THE ALTERNATOR IN MY DURANGO FAILED SUDDENLY. WE LUCKILY HAD JUST ARRIVED AT MY DAUGHTER'S DAY CAR WHEN THE CAR SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN AND WE NOTICED SMOKE. WHEN WE GOT OUT TO CHECK UNDER THE HOOD, THE ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING! I HAD TO HAVE THE DURANGO TOWED TO MY DEALERSHIP AS THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE DURANGO AT ALL. THE DEALERSHIP ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, AND COULD NOT START THE CAR USING A JUMPER BOX, OR BY JUMPING IT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ALTERNATOR HAD COMPLETELY DRAINED THE BATTERY. WE WERE TOLD A FEW DAYS LATER THAT THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE AN ALTERNATOR AS IT WAS BACK ORDERED, AND IT COULD BE UP TO 6 WEEKS OR MORE BEFORE THEY COULD GET ONE. WHEN WE INQUIRED AS TO WHY, WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ALTERNATOR FOR MANY CHRYSLER AND DODGE VEHICLES AND THAT EVEN THOUGH OUR DURANGO FALLS IN THE SPECIFIC YEARS, IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. WHEN THEY FINALLY CALLED TO LET US KNOW THE DURANGO WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP, WE DROVE MAYBE A HALF MILE DOWN THE ROAD AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. WE RETURNED IT IMMEDIATELY BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, THEY INFORMED US THAT BECAUSE OF THE ALTERNATOR FAILURE, THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW, THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING US THAT THE ECM IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING PROPERLY BECAUSE OF THE ISSUES WITH THE ALTERNATOR AND THAT WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT IT. THEY CONTACTED DODGE TO INFORM THEM OF THE FAULTY ALTERNATOR THAT CAUSED THE ECM FAILURE AND DODGE TOLD THEM, TOO BAD.

MY ISSUES BEGAN LAST NOVEMBER WITH THE LIFT GATE. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD, THE LIFT GATE DECIDED TO OPEN. ALARMED, I STOPPED QUICKLY AND CLOSED THE LIFT GATE. AFTER I ARRIVED HOME IT WOULD NOT OPEN AGAIN. THIS CONTINUED FOR A WEEK. THE LATCH, INTERIOR BUTTON, AND KEY FOB WOULD NOT OPEN IT. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AND IT MAGICALLY STARTED WORKING FINE JUST 2 DAYS PRIOR TO THE APPOINMENT. THE SECOND ISSUE WE EXPERIENCED CAME SHORTLY AFTER. THE CAR WOULD SHUT DOWN AFTER USING THE REMOTE START AFTER A FEW SECONDS. I FOUND THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND RE-TIGHTENED THE GAS CAP. THE LIGHT DID NOT SHUT OFF, SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT VERY EASY AND MONITOR THE VEHICLE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. THE LIGHT EVENTUALLY TURNED OFF. A WEEK LATER AND IT IS BACK ON AGAIN. NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON AS EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE FINE. MY WIFE DROVE MY SON TO BASKETBALL PRACTICE AND SAID SHE WITNESSED THE HEATER TURN ON ALL BY ITSELF (AFTER HAVING BEEN SHUT COMPLETELY OFF). SHE TURNED IT OFF AND DIDN'T GIVE IT MUCH THOUGHT UNTIL IT DID IT AGAIN. IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS THE ENTIRE DRIVE TO PRACTICE. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS VEHICLE IS POSSESED AND I THINK THIS IS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBURG. HOPEFULLY, SOMETHING DANGEROUS WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH SOME OTHER SYSTEM.

THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTERGRATED POWER MODULE) SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE.

RETURNED THE CAR TO DEALER WHOM REPAIRED VEHICLE AND SAID IT WAS THE OXYGEN SENSOR AND REPLACED. AGAIN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE RAN ROUGH. RETURNED THE CAR TO DEALER WHOM REPAIRED AND SAID THEY REPLACED THE CONVERTER. SOON AGAIN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. FOUND FUEL CAP 'POPPED OFF' A FEW TIMES, ENGINE LIGHT GOES OUT THEN ON AGAIN. RETURNED TO DEALER WHOM REPLACED FUEL CAP. THERE WAS ALSO AN OIL LEAK FIXED. AGAIN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF AND THE ENGINE WOULD RUN ROUGH. SMOKE WOULD POUR OUT THE TAILPIPE, ENGINE SPUTTERING, DROVE BACK FROM MOUNTAINS. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER. THEY REPLACED POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND OXYGEN SENSOR (AGAIN). AND AGAIN, LATE JUNE 2015, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND ENGINE SPUTTERING. DEALER TAKES CAR. DEALER TELLS US THEY ARE GOING TO 'GO THROUGH IT' AND DRIVE VEHICLE ENTIRE TIME. WE RECEIVE RENTAL CAR. DEALER CALLS AFTER WEEK AND SAID VEHICLE IS READY FOR PICKUP BUT THEY ARE AWAITING A CONVERTER AND ARE GOING TO REPLACE OXYGEN SENSOR ALSO. VEHICLE MILEAGE LOGGED; VEHICLE WAS NEVER 'DRIVEN'. RENTAL CAR TIME WAS USED UP. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER WHEN PART WAS IN. DEALER REPLACED CONVERTER BUT NOT O2 SENSOR?? THEY SAID IT DIDN'T NEED IT. DROVE CAR ABOUT 10 MILES AND GOT OUT. A VERY STRONG SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC IS COMING FROM CAR. DEALER NOT RETURNING CALL. WILL BE RETURNING TO DEALER MONDAY JULY20, 2015. STILL DRIVING WITH STRONG PLASTIC BURN SMELL. LIFTED HOOD. WIRING HARNESS ABOVE HEATER LINE AND CONVERTER(MANIFOLD) IS BURNING. ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE IS UNBEARABLE HOT. SILVER METAL BOX IN FRONT OF FUSE PANEL IS SO HOT IT BURNS TO THE TOUCH. OCTOBER 15, 2014 I WAS DRIVING MY 2012 DODGE DURANGO CREW TO WORK. WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE COMPLETELY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING ME TO DRIFT INTO A CONCRETE RETAINING WALL. MY CAR IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE BODY SHOP AND WAS INSPECTED BY MY GEICO INSURANCE. THE DAMAGE TOTALED $5500, $500 OF WHICH WAS MY DEDUCTIBLE. UNFORTUNATELY, A PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE BODY WAS UNAVAILABLE, SO I WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR AN ESTIMATED 3 MONTHS UNTIL THE PART WAS AVAILABLE FROM DODGE. I WAS CLEARLY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE I KNEW IT MALFUNCTIONED. I TOOK THE CAR DIRECTLY FROM THE BODY SHOP TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP. PLEASE NOTE ***GEICO INSURANCE DEEMED THE CAR "SAFE TO DRIVE" AND REFUSED TO GIVE ME A RENTAL. I TOOK THE DURANGO TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT IT FOR 24 HOURS AND DISMISSED ME TELLING ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. NEITHER MY HUSBAND NOR I WERE SATISFIED BECAUSE IN MY 17 YEARS OF DRIVING I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND KNEW SOMETHING WAS DEFECTIVE. SINCE THEN, I HAVE STARTED THE CAR A HANDFUL OF TIMES, AND IT WILL IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN. I JUST RECEIVED THE SAFETY RECALL NUMBER R09/NHTSA 14V-115. THIS SAFETY RECALL RELATES EXACTLY TO WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DURANGO. I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN THAT I DRIVE WITH IN THIS CAR, REFUSE TO GET ON ANY HIGHWAY WITH IT FOR FEAR OF IT SHUTTING DOWN AT 70 MPH, AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I HAVE PROOF OF THE $5500 IN REPAIRS, I HAVE PROOF OF THE $500 I SPENT ON MY DEDUCTIBLE, I HAVE PROOF THAT I TOOK IT TOOK A DODGE DEALERSHIP, AND I HAVE PROOF THAT MY CAR INSURANCE RATE HAS DRAMATICALLY INCREASED BECAUSE OF THIS CLAIM. FIRST INCIDENT: I DROVE ABOUT 80 MILES OUT OF TOWN. ONCE I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION I RETURNED TO MY TRUCK TO FIND OUT THAT THE DOORS WOULDN'T UNLOCK. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE REMOTE TO OPEN THE DOOR. MY TRUCK WOULDN'T START. IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DODGE DEALER. I CALLED TO SET UP A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND IT WAS TWO WEEKS LATER WHEN I FINALLY HAD AN APPOINTMENT. WHEN IT WAS FINALLY TIME FOR THE APPOINTMENT THE CAR HAD NOT DID THIS IN 3-4 DAYS. HASN'T DONE IT SINCE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT IT WAS. I WAS TOLD THE SAME ONLY 2-3 PARTS WERE COMING IN EACH MONTH. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS UPON PULLING OUT IN TO TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE EITHER STOPPED ACCELERATING OR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON A FEW OCCASIONS ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON PULLING OUT TO PASS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE PROBLEM THAT HAS CAUSED MY FAMILY TO NEARLY GET T-BONED AFTER PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. OTHER OWNERS SEEM TO HAVE SIMILAR SYMPTOMS WHICH EVENTUALLY GET TRACED BACK TO A FAULTY CYLINDER HEAD. REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES THE VEHICLES IS SENT IN FOR SERVICE NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT IT UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOWS A TROUBLE CODE. I HAVE A 2012 DODGE DURANGE RT. WHEN PARKED AT A GAS STATION, TRIED TO TURN ENGINE ON WITH PUSH START SWITCH AND ENGINE DOES NOT START. WHEN PUSHING START SWITCH AGAIN IT MAKES THE SOUND LIKE THE ENGINE IS TRYING TO TURN OVER BUT DOES NOTHING. IN ORDER TO GET THE ENGINE TO STOP FROM MAKING THE TURN OVER NOISE I HAVE TO MOVE FROM PARK TO IN GEAR. THEN I RECEIVE THE "IGNITION OR ACCESSORY ON" MESSAGE. IN ORDER TO GET THE MESSAGE CLEAR I HAVE TO TURN OFF VEHICLE WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE. THIS PUTS THE ENGINE INTO THE OFF MODE AND I HAVE TO START THE PROCESS TO GET THE CAR TO START ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND I HAVE VIDEO TO SHOW THE DEFECT. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND READ THIS ISSUE WITH MANY PEOPLE SAYING IT IS THE TIPM DEFECT. DURING ABOUT 1/3 OF ALL ENGINE STARTS, HOT AND COLD, THE ENGINE WILL RUN BRIEFLY (LESS THAN 5 SECONDS) AND THEN STALL. SITTING IDLE ON A DRIVEWAY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE AND SMELL. PUNCHED GAS THREE TIMES AND EACH TIME HUGE WHITE BLUE CLOUD OF SMOKE PUSHED OUT. SMELL OF BURNING METAL CAME WITH CLOUD OF SMOKE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY AT FIRST COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE ON AN INCLINE AND STARTING IT UP THEY TOO GOT THE SMOKE, AND NOT JUST FROM MINE BUT FROM ANOTHER ON THE LOT. THEY TELL ME THAT IT IS THE OIL PAN DESIGN IS FAULTY AND THAT MY VEHICLE WILL SMOKE WHEN ON AN INCLINE, DRIVEWAY, HILL, STUCK IN TRAFFIC AT A SLOPE. THE EMISSIONS ARE HORRENDOUS AND I AM SHOCKED THAT A 57 HEMI ENGINE WOULD DO THIS. SHOCKED MORE THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS NOT YET FIXED IT. *JS
