What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The headrest randomly deployed well car was in park. All I did was sit in my seat. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was put at risk because now I have a sore neck and migraine from something meant to keep me safe but instead jeopardized my safety. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I will be calling as soon as they open. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Calling as soon as they open. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warnings at all.

Passenger headrest airbag deployed while car was stationary in garage. My daughter was hit sharply by deployed airbag. Has not yet been inspected, but is available for inspection. No warning this would happen.

Passenger side front headrest airbag deployed without incident. There were no warning lights, messages or symptoms prior to deployment. The vehicle was inspected and certified upon purchase. This could have caused injury to myself or my children. My biggest concern is the same incident happening without warning to the driver’s side while I’m driving and causing an accident which results in injury or worse, death of myself or children. This is a problem.

The vehicle was running, in "park", sitting in the driveway. My 17-year-old son was in the passenger seat. The headrest airbag deployed without ANY provocation of any kind. No movement in the vehicle, and it was not in motion, there was certainly no collision. The EXACT same thing happened on the driver's side 3 years ago, while I was sitting in the driver's seat, in the driveway, with the vehicle running and also in "park". The force of the deployment from either of these incidents was not enough to warrant an injury or a headache, but does elevate a safety concern until it is repaired. There were no warning lamps that came on prior to deployment, it was a complete surprise on both occasions.

While driving with my wife sitting in passenger seat, the headrest safety deployed for no reason. This occurred under normal driving conditions. There was no impact or collision which would have caused the deployment.

The passenger headrest deployed with no warning. My daughter was sitting in the seat while we were driving at 40 mph when the headrest shot forward and hit her head. There was no accident and no collisions of any kind to cause this to happen.

Driving the on-ramp as I was speeding up to file into traffic my headrest exploded hitting me on the back of my head/neck area. It was a pretty violent incident and I almost caused a accident due to my orientation being stunned. As I made it home I found little black plastic pieces that came from the head rest. It appears the plastic retainers become fragile over time and loose their structural integrity, then become a serious hazard should they fail during driving. During this event no warning has been given, sound or visual, and the vehicle is drivable. However, as there is currently a potential for a head/neck injury to the front passenger if it should reoccur, no passenger is being transported in the front until this is corrected.

1.The air bag light come on & off randomly. The air bag has never been deployed. 2. The transmission misfires, I don't know if it has to do with the fuel pump relay. I've replaced almost the entire transmission and still does the same thing.

In July 2021, driver's headrest restraint system deployed while driver was parked and vehicle was off. Driver entered the vehicle at the end of a workday while it was parked under a carport, sat down and closed door, then the headrest popped open unexpectedly. It has not been repaired yet, but scheduling service with the dealer in late July 2021. Headrest cannot be put back into place as it appears inside plastic pieces broke when deployed. No injuries.

Driving on Freeway and my son was sitting in the passenger seat when the headrest exploded for NO reason. It was extremely loud and I nearly swerved off the road. There was no warning signs or lights that ever came on for warning. After researching this apparently is a known issue and I want replaced NOT out of my pocket. I have monitored my son now for whiplash injury due to this incident.

LONE STAR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (8811 INTERSTATE 35 ACCESS RD, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78211) WAS CONTACTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SKID ON THE ROAD. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STRUCK AND WENT OVER A GUARDRAIL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AFTER THE CRASH, ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED TOTALED. THE DRIVER INJURED HER HEAD, ONE PASSENGER INJURED THEIR HEAD AND NOSE, AND THE OTHER REAR PASSENGER INJURED HER NECK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY, I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER SEAT. VEHICLE WAS RUNNING, BUT IN "PARK", DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN. MY HUSBAND REACHED IN FROM OUTSIDE TO HUG ME GOODBYE, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADREST POPPED OPEN. POWERFUL ENOUGH TO MOVE MY HEAD FORWARD, BUT NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH TO CAUSE PAIN OR INJURY. WE TRIED TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER (NOT REALIZING THAT THERE WAS AN AIRBAG IN THERE), AND WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES TO WORK AFTERWARDS, ADJUSTING THE SEAT A BIT SO AS NOT TO IMPEDE MY POSTURE.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST BECAME DISLODGED AND SPRUNG OPEN OUT OF NO WHERE. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS IN THE SEAT AS THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP IT APPEARS THE PLASTIC RETAINING PIN RECEIVER HAD BROKE. SMALL PIECES OF PLASTIC WERE INSIDE THE HEADREST AND IT IS UNABLE TO BE RESET. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT COVER THIS UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND IT WOULD BE ALMOST $800 TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS HEADREST IS ALSO CONNECTED TO MY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM. IT IS UNKNOWN IF ANY FURTHER ISSUES COULD HAPPEN FROM THIS.

VEHICLE WAS BACKED INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A RESTAURANT WITH NO POSSIBILITY OF A REAR END COLLISION WHEN THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DEPLOYED. FORTUNATELY WE WERE PARKED, OTHERWISE IT COULD HAVE VERY EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOTICED A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ISSUE FROM OTHERS AS WELL. THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE RETENTION ROD BROKE CAUSING THE RELEASE, SO THE WHOLE UNIT HAS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. YOU CAN SEE THE BROKEN PLASTIC IN THE PROVIDED PICTURE. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF IT DEPLOYED WHILE SOMEONE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED 3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT.

I RESEARCHED IT ONLINE AND IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE VEHICLES. I ATTEMPTED TO RESET THE SPRING LOADED ACTIVE HEADREST TO DISCOVER THAT THE REASON IT HAD DEPLOYED IS BECAUSE THE PLASTIC RETAINING PIN RECEIVER WAS BROKEN. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT DODGE (CASE#32447405) WITH NO RESOLVE. I FEEL LIKE THE HEADREST SHOULD CERTAINLY BE RECALLED. IF AN OLDER PERSON HAD BEEN HIT IN THE HEAD OR IF IT WERE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IT MAY HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY, A CRASH, OR DEATH. I CAN EMAIL PHOTOS UPON YOUR REQUEST. VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT THAT RAISED VEHICLE TO APPROXIMATELY 30 DEGREES. BODY SHOP SAID AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THERE WAS NO CHECK DONE TO CONFIRM THAT AIRBAGS WERE IN WORKING ORDER. DEALER SAYS THAT IT OBVIOUSLY WASN'T SUFFICIENT ENOUGH IMPACT TO DEPLOY AIRBAGS. I'M NOT CONVINCED AFTER READING ABOUT DEFECTS. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS ADDRESSED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS REGARDING WINDOW GOING UP AND DOWN, LOCKING SYSTEM AND ALARM SYSTEM ACTUATING ON THEIR OWN, WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN PARKED. DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE, BUT WHEN IT FINALLY WAS PROVEN, THEY REPAIRED THE WINDOW ONLY AND WE WERE FORCED TO PAY TO GET OUTER VEHICLE BACK. I FEEL THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUE.
