The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted and had become more frequent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The SUV has consistent problems with the water pump , thermostat and radiator. They have been changed and replaced more than 3 times in a year. Also the brakes are acting funny

My vehicle tends to overheat quite often. The water pump I've had to change five times within the past 5 years The radiator and patch change up three times and the thermostat I've had to change out three times. There's also the transmission shifting gears issue and get stuck on low and I can't move the vehicle.

My 2013 Durango with 124,000 miles has a check engine light on, that indicates cylinder 4 miss fire. The Airpark Dodge service department where I purchased the vehicle has done a diagnostic evaluation and determined that the left cylinder head needs replacing. That falls within the X56 engine left cylinder head extended warranty for some VIN # vehicles, but not mine. The estimated repair is over $5000.00. I am told that the engine can cease up while driving, and that I should not be driving the vehicle. I think my vehicle should be included, especially since this X56 warranty extension has been out since 2014. How do I get this X56 warranty on my vehicle? And how do I get reimbursed for the cost of the repair?

The engine in my vehicle stalls without warning while driving, which poses a significant safety risk, particularly on busy roadways where it could lead to accidents, endangering both myself and other drivers. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed in the past by a certified Dodge dealership auto shop, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. However, the vehicle or its components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Before the engine stalls, the electronic throttle control lamp flashes, the vehicle gives a noticeable jerk, and then the engine shuts down. This problem occurs at any speed but has not happened when the vehicle is at a full stop.

Took my vehicle to 1 dealership to get fixed they said they couldn’t do it because my vehicle was too old and wouldn’t be able to find parts. Took my vehicle to 2 mechanics shops that said they could fix it. Insisted I need a wire harness AFTER completing other work they thought would fix it. My daughter came to visit and I told her what was going on. She began to look through wire diagrams of the vehicle and noticed the TIPM being a common factor in the systems that were effected. She took my VIN and noticed a recall that has not been addressed. I bought this vehicle not long ago from an independent dealership… I don’t understand how it is legal that neither vehicle maintenance facility informed me of the open recall that has yet to be perform on this vehicle. I don’t understand how it is legal for a DEALERSHIP not to inform me that a recall has yet to be address with this vehicle. Yet for every-time I get maintenance the VIN is to be recorded… So as I’m trying to fix the vehicle mechanics enter this vin sees a recall that could very well be related to the recall and do nothing but charge me for parts and don’t even inform me? How is any of that legal!?

While driving down the road, my vehicle will completely shut off and shut down. Sometimes, emphasis on the sometimes, I can push my key into the ignition a bit more and it will start back up. I lose all function and control of my vehicle. My dash lights and exterior lights completely shut off. I can't steer my car and it comes to a complete stop within seconds because everything locks up. I have had this happen more times than I can even count. It has happened in the middle of me turning at an intersection and has almost caused a collision. I took it in for a diagnosis and was told that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle and they didn't know why it was doing that. There is absolutely no warning for when this will happen. The speed that it happens at varies as there is no rhyme or reason. It happened when my care had 95,000 miles and still to this day. It happens AT LEAST 4 times a week. I have read forums where other people with the same vehicle have had this happen to also.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the fuel pump system was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Vehicle has been having issues starting, acts like the fob is not in ignition. Vehicle has locked key in ignition and won't release it. Most dangerous concern is vehicle will completely shut down while driving, regardless of speed, and will not restart until completely stopped and put in park. Most recent occurrence was on interstate 80, 73 MPH on 12/23/2022. Everything except for hazards and radio shuts off and goes black. No warning lights, no codes tracked, just completely fails. Cannot use turn signal, brakes, power steering, nothing. Starting issues started about 12 months ago. Completely shutting down while driving started about 7 months ago. Issue is intermittent and does not show a pattern.

The oil filter cooling housing is leaking oil onto the engine. The housing is poorly designed. It’s plastic. So therefore it can evidently catch fire on the housing and cause combustion. It does make the car smell like it’s running hot or it smells like Burt motor oil. Everything we have read says his is a poor design by Chrysler bc they tried to cut corners. The newer models for the housing is aluminum that will better withstand the heat. I think this should be a recalled event.

My 2012 Dodge Durango was serviced under NHTSA Campaign 19-V813. This called for the replacement of the fuel pump relay to correct a potential no-start or stall situation. This also prevented fuel pump failure due to the unit not being switched off by the TIPM when the car is turned off. This repair has not corrected the problem. The car would be available for inspection upon request. The safety of the occupants could be at risk. The problem is intermittent and has not been able to be duplicated at the dealer. There are no warning lamps or codes that can be read. The car will crank over for an extended period of time but will not start. This is an intermittent problem and occurs two times a month or more, has been happening since Fall of 2020, and has been increasing in frequency. The fuel pump relay was replaced in June 2021 and the car had a no-start two weeks later. The check engine light does not come on. No codes are found by the dealer. The engine has not quit while in motion, but possibly could as this problem increases in frequency. On two occasions while the car was in motion the right rear window went down for no reason. The window could not be raised until the car was brought to a stop, turned off and started again. The window could then be raised using the driver's door control. This poses a danger to the occupants of the vehicle especially during severe weather and is at least a distraction to the driver. The common denominator in these two problems is the TIPM. I think the fuel pump relay problem is actually a problem found deeper within the TIPM. Chrysler is simply saying that the "flix" is a relay and not the real culprit, the much more expensive TIPM. The dealer says they cannot diagnose this problem unless it is happening on their lot. They have inspected the fuel pump relay work that was done under recall and said that the installation was correct.

Was out running errands and returned home. Pulled in garage and vehicle smelled hot, like on fire. Went to start vehicle back up and remove from garage incase of fire. The vehicle would NOT start. Took vehicle to local repairman. I was informed the alternator caught on fire. If this would of happened on the road, I could have been in a bad accident. Also because my vehicle was parked in the garage, there could of been the possibility of my house and vehicle catching on fire if it would have been worse. My Durango is currently at a independent auto repair shop. The new alternator has been ordered but there is concern that the computer might be destroyed also. The only person to inspect the vehicle would be my auto repairman. Unfortunately, there was absolutely NO warning lamps prior to the alternator burning up.

THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2013 DODGE DURANGO FOR THE SUV TO SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE RECALL WAS SAID TO BE FIXED BUT SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD IT SHUT OFF AT LEAST 4 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. YOU LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE CAR; NO BRAKES, NO STEERING...NOTHING! THIS HAS HELPED ON A FLAT SURFACE AND ON A HILL.

CAR RANDOMLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING, NO WARNINGS. SHUT OFF COULD NOT STEER AS STEERING WHILE LOCKED UP & COULD NOT BRAKE AS BRAKE PAD WAS HARD AND LOCKED UP AS WELL. GOT IT TO THE SIDE OF ROAD, IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP BUT SHUT OFF AGAIN NOT EVEN 2 MINUTES LATER. WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD AND STARTED BACK UP BUT PUTTERED AS ALL THE LIGHTS FLASHED INSIDE OF THE CAR. I HAD MY KID IN THE CAR I AM TERRIFIED.

MY DURANGO STALLS WHEN I'M DRIVING AND RESTARTS ON ITS OWN. I HAD THE FUEL PUMP RELAY CHANGED ALREADY WHICH I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE DODGE DOESN'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL WITH OUT NOTICE AND AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR A WEEK. THE CAR NEVER STALLED WHEN THE DROVE IT AROUND A FEW TIMES. THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT STOPS AT ANY MOMENT AND YOU LOSE COMPLETE POWER. AT ANYTIME YOU COULD CRASH WITHOUT NOTICE.

WHEN I FIRST STARTED MY CAR, I HEARD A WHINING NOISE THAT DIDN'T SOUND NORMAL, BUT WAS NOT OVERLY LOUD. ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER (MAYBE LESS), AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A TOWN ROAD DOING 30MPH THE CAR SHUT OFF. MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STILL WORKED AS THE RADIO AND AIR CONDITIONING WERE ON. I PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY OF A BUSINESS (WITHOUT POWER STEERING) AND PARKED. I WAS GOING TO CHECK TO SEE IF EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL AND SEE IF MAYBE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY HAD AN ISSUE. MY FUEL PUMP RELAY HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPAIRED IN 2015 DUE TO NHTSA RECALL # 15V-115. HOWEVER, IN MAY 2019, THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING WHEN IT WAS DRIVING 70MPH DOWN AN INTERSTATE. I WAS INFORMED BY DODGE THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE PREVIOUS RECALL FOR A SECOND TIME BECAUSE IT HAD EXPIRED AFTER 2 YEARS. IN NOVEMBER 2019, I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY (NHTSA RECALL # 19V-813); HOWEVER, IT WAS INCOMPLETE BECAUSE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR, I SMELLED BURNING RUBBER BUT DID NOT OBSERVE ANY SMOKE. AFTER I WAS ABLE TO POP THE HOOD, I SAW A SMALL FLAME IN THE AREA OF THE ALTERNATOR. I IMMEDIATELY GOT MY TWO CHILDREN (AGES 3 AND 6) OUT OF THE CAR AND CALLED 911. MY HUSBAND ARRIVED BEFORE THE FIRE TRUCK, BUT THE 911 OPERATOR TOLD US NOT TO TRY TO PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER HE BROUGHT. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS BY THE TIME THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY FIREFIGHTERS. THIS ENGINE (V6 PENTASTAR 3.6) IS TAPPING. IT SEEMS TO BE COMMON PROBLEM AMONG CHRYSLER JEEP AND DODGE. CHRYSLER STATES THAT THE ENGINE LIFTS AND ROCKERS ARE CULPRIT AND REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE ON SOME CHRYSLER AND JEEP MODELS WITH THIS SAME ENGINE BUT DODGE WILL NOT REPAIR OR COMPENSATE FOR THE FAULTY PARTS ON THIS ENGINE BY THE MAKER. THIS IS A FLAW IN THE ENGINE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION, THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY MAKER AND NOT PASSED ON TO THE CONSUMER. SINCE THIS PROBLEM HAS STARTED I NOTICED THE CAR SEEMS TO STALL AND IT'S NOT AS POWERFUL AS IT ONCE WAS. IN SEPTEMBER 2019 AFTER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING ERRATICALLY, I TOOK MY 2013 DODGE DURANGO INTO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD A FUEL INJECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AT THE TIME I ASKED IF THEY ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND WAS TOLD NOT NECESSARILY THAT THEY COULD LAST FOR SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. IN DECEMBER 2019, AFTER EXPERIENCING SOME OF THE SAME SYMPTOMS I TOOK MY DURANGO BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD ONE MORE FUEL INJECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND, THIS TIME THE SHOP RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE THE OTHER FIVE (5) INJECTORS. I AGREED TO HAVE THEM REPLACE ALL FIVE SINCE IT APPEARED THAT ALL OF THEM MAY MALFUNCTION OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS. THE DAY AFTER I HAD THE FIVE REPLACED, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AGAIN WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT REPLACED TO THE FUEL INJECTORS AND WAS MOST LIKELY SOME OTHER MINOR ISSUE. A FRIEND OF MY WHO ALSO HAD A 2013 DODGE DURANGO HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND WAS REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR.

WITH 91,000 MILES ON THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE REPORTED A MISS FIRE ON CYLINDER 5. HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED AT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE CAM AND LIFTERS. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR IS CONTINUOUSLY SHUTTING OFF. I LOSE POWER STEERING AND NEED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THE FIRST TIME I WAS COASTING AT 45 MPH THE CAR DISPLAY CONTROLS WHEN OFF AND TURNED BACK ON. THE SECOND TIME I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING STALL AND THE CAR DIED MID PARK AT WHICH POINT I HAD TO MANUALLY RESTART. THE MOST RECENT TIME I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND THE CAR DIED WHILE GOING 35 I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER (WITH NO POWER STEERING) AND RESTART THE ENGINE. THE MUSIC AND HEADLIGHTS REMAINED ON WHILE THE ENGINE WAS OFF. THE CAR STARTS RIGHT UP WITHOUT HESITATION AND THE LOCAL DODGE DELEARSHIP IS NOT FINDING A CODE TO PROPERLY DETECT THE PROBLEM THEIR BEST GUESS IS TO REPLACE THE TIPM IN HOPES IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. I NEED A SAFE RELIABLE CAR AND NOT ONE THAT IS AS RISK OF DYING MID DRIVE AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT HURTING MY FAMILY OR OTHERS.

AFTER OUR MECHANIC CONTACTED OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THAT THE LIFTER FOR THE 5.7 HEMI ENGINE IS ON BACKORDER WITH NO ETA OF WHEN IT WILL BE IN AND BEING TOLD THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. DODGE DURANGO 2013- 78,000 MILES: ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING OUR 2013 DURANGO IT JUST SHUTS OFF. ALL INSIDE ELECTRICAL DEVICES GO BLANKS AND WE LOSE POWER STEERING. WE HAVE DOCUMENTED DATES OF WHEN THIS HAS OCCURRED AND IT CAN BE 5 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE OR 45 MINUTES ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WE HAVE HAD IT THE GARAGE MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY CONTINUE TO TELL US WITHOUT A CODE THEY CAN NOT DIAGNOSE ANY ISSUES. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE JUNE 2018. WE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO DODGE. THEY SUGGESTED WE GO TO THE GARAGE FOR A DIAGNOSIS. WE TRIED AGAIN ON 12/26/18 TO GET A DIAGNOSIS AND THEY AGAIN COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE WITHOUT A CODE. AS MY HUSBAND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE AWAY FROM THE GARAGE, IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. HE WENT BACK INTO THE GARAGE AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY CODES. SO WE CONTINUE TO PAY FOR GARAGE VISITS WITH NO ANSWERS. WE ARE NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE OUR ONLY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. IT IS COMPLETELY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY HIGHWAY AND YOU LOSE YOUR POWER STEERING OR IF YOU ARE PULLING OUT OF AN ESTABLISHMENT AND LOSE POWER IN FRONT OF OTHER CARS. WE PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS CAR AND HAVE TAKEN CARE OF IT WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND GARAGE VISITS. THIS SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND DODGE SHOULD BE CONCERNED THAT SOMEONE MAY BE HURT OR KILLED.

SOMETIMES IN TRYING TO START, TURNING THE KEY RESULTS IN NO RESPONSE WHATEVER FROM THE ENGINE. A SECOND OR THIRD ATTEMPT IS NECESSARY. HAVE ALSO HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH STALLING WHILE DRIVING. RECENTLY I WAS DRIVING AT 30 MPH AND A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER HAPPENED, I COASTED IT TRYING TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT THEN THE ENGINE CAME BACK TO LIFE AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. WE HAVE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM 2 YEARS AGO, EXCEPT IT WAS JUST NON-STARTING INTERMITTENLY. HAD IT TOWED SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER THEY TRIED REPLACING THE TIPM (AND THIS HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED IN A RECALL) THEY FOUND IT WAS A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. NOW MORE PROBLEMS.

2013 DODGE DURANGO R/T WITH OVER 100K MILES SEPTEMBER 21, 2018 VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TICKING IN THE ENGINE. THE TICKING WAS PRESENT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING OR DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. TWO MECHANICS, A NEW ENGINE, AND $8,649 LATER THE FOLLOWING ISSUES WERE FOUND WITH THE ORIGINAL STOCK ENGINE: "FOUND LIFTER ROLLER LOCKED UP AND DAMAGE LOBE ON CAMSHAFT' AND 'METAL IN THE OIL PAN'. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT LOCKED UP LIFTERS ARE TAKING CHUNKS OUT OF THE CAMSHAFT, AND THE PIECES OF METAL THAT ARE KNOCKED OFF ARE GOING INTO THE ENGINE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT COULD RESULT IN COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. DODGE NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS.

IN DECEMBER 2017 SAID VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SHOP FOR A NO START CONDITION. AFTER BRINGING IT IN WE DETERMINED A SEVERE SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, TRACED TO ALTERNATOR. WE ALSO FOUND MELTED BATTERY. FOUND THIS VEHICLE FELL UNDER THE T36 RECALL FROM FCA. WE GOT APPROVAL AT THAT TIME TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND RECEIVED A CASE NUMBER FOR REIMBURSEMENT. WE HAD TO CALL BACK MULTIPLE TIMES TO CONTINUE AUTHORIZATION, AND WAS TOLD AS LONG AS THE PROBLEMS WERE RELATED TO THE ALTERNATOR THEN THEY WOULD BE REIMBURSED FROM 30-60 DAYS FROM THE TIME OF SUBMISSION. AFTER SUBMITTING NEEDED PAPER WORK AND DOCUMENTATION WE WAITED. THE CUSTOMER STOPPED IN IN MAY AND ASKED US TO CHECK ON IT SINCE HE HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING YET. CALLED FCA AND FOUND OUT THAT NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE WITH THE CLAIM BECAUSE OF AN INTERNAL ERROR THAT SENT THE PAPER WORK TO THE WRONG DEPARTMENT. AFTER CALLING AGAIN ON 6/13/18 WE FOUND OUT THAT AGAIN, IT HAD NOT BEEN FILED OR SENT TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE. TODAY (6/13/18) I SENT THE INFORMATION AGAIN AND WAS PROMISED IT WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. IT HAS NOW BEEN 6 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF THE REPAIR AND NO EFFORT HAS BEEN MADE TO REIMBURSE THE CUSTOMER FOR ANYTHING. FCA SAID IT WOULD BE HANDLED IN 30-60 DAYS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS UNREASONABLE. THIS CUSTOMER HAS BEEN VERY UNDERSTANDING BUT IS RUNNING OUT OF PATIENCE. WE NOW HAVE 3 DIFFERENT CASE NUMBERS AND I HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF TALKING TO 4 DIFFERENT PEOPLE TO RESOLVE THE MATTER. WHILE DRIVING ON NO MORE THAN 65 MPH THE ENGINE HAS SHUT DOWN FOR NO REASON, AND WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES, AND ALL 4 TIMES THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES DON'T WORK. ONCE THE CAR HAS STOPPED AND GEAR PLACED INTO PARK I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TURN THE IGNITION AND THE CAR RESTARTS. ON 12/24/2017 I STARTED MY DURANGO TO LET IT WARM UP BEFORE LEAVING MY HOUSE, REMOTE START WAS USED. IT WAS MAKING A FUNNY NOISE SO I TURNED IT OFF AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. AT THIS TIME I SAW SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. UPON INSPECTION I NOTICED SMOKE FROM THE ALTERNATOR AND HAD TO PUT WATER ON IT. I TOOK MY DURANGO ON 12/26/2017 TO DWAYNE LANE'S CHRYSLER AND JEEP AT 10515 EVERGREEN WAY, EVERETT, WA 98204. THEY SAID THIS IS RELATED TO RECALL T36 AND THERE WAS NO KNOWN FIX. I UNDERSTAND IF THE ALTERNATOR WAS STILL FINE THEY COULD DO NOTHING. HOWEVER SINCE IT WAS CLEARLY FAULTY AFTER RUNNING THEIR TESTS THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET NEARLY $1200 DOLLARS AND THEN GET REIMBURSED AFTER 90 DAYS. I CALLED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WORKED WITH SOMEONE TO GET APPROVAL FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO GET PAID. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET THIS APPROVED DUE TO MULTIPLE REASONS (MANAGERS ON VACATION/SYSTEM NOT SETUP TO DO SO). AT THIS POINT I WAS LOOKING AT EITHER NOT HAVING A VEHICLE OR MAKING THE $1200 PAYMENT. I CHECKED AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE DEALT WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE, AND COULD GET IT COVERED. MY CALLS TO DODGE MUST HAVE WORKED BECAUSE THE FIRST DEALERSHIP GOT APPROVAL TO REPLACE WITH ANOTHER ALTERNATOR THAT MIND YOU MIGHT HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I PICKED UP MY DURANGO 12/27 AND AFTER DRIVING FOR 15 MINUTES THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I DROVE IT TO THE NEW DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAID YES SOME BATTERIES HAVE DIED DUE TO THE BAD ALTERNATORS. THEY SAID DODGE IS NOT COVERING THIS SO $200 DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET. AFTER DRIVING MY DURANGO IT NOW HAS THE BATTERY LIGHT ON AGAIN. NOW THEY ARE SAYING IT IS THE PCM MODULE THAT HAS GONE OUT AND THIS MAY NOT BE COVERED AS WELL. CURRENTLY IT IS 12/29 AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY DURANGO.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR DURANGO WHEN IT SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. SHE HAD TO MUSCLE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE SHE ATTEMPTED NUMEROUS TIMES TO RESTART IT. PRIOR TO THAT, OFTEN TIMES YOU WOULD TURN THE KEY AND THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND THE CAR WOULD DO NOTHING...NOT EVEN TURN OVER. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPS, IT WOULD START. AFTER THE STALL, WE BROUGHT IT INTO OUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER (DUTCHESS DODGE) WHERE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS, SAID THEY COULD NOT RECREATE OUR CONCERNS, CLEANED NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS, CHARGED US $500 AND RECOMMENDED WE CHANGE A "WIN" MODULE AT ABOUT $800 PLUS LABOR BUT COULD NOT GUARNATEE THIS WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. THE SERVICE PERSON EVEN ADMITTED IT COULD BE THE TIPM BUT THAT THEY COULDN'T BE SURE AND THE FIX OF THE WIN MODULE WAS THE FIRST RECOMMEDATION. HE ALSO ADDED THAT SOME COMPONENTS IN THE TIPM WERE LOOSE AND THAT THEY CHECKED AND CLEANED THEM ALSO AND THAT FOR ALL THEY KNOW IT COULD HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE. I INFORMED THEM THAT I COULD NOT AFFORD TO CONTINUE TO THROW MONEY INTO "TRIAL AND ERROR" FIXES AND TO JUST BUTTON IT UP AND GIVE IT BACK TO US. A WEEK LATER, IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME, AS SHE WAS PULLING OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT RE-STARTED ON IT'S OWN. WE CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BACK AND THEIR REPLY WAS THAT THEY RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE WIN MODULE. THIS VEHILCLE HAS 62000 MILES AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED BY ME AND CARED FOR LIKE A BABY. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE OF USE OR ABUSE, IT IS FAULTY PARTS AND WE SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD JUST TRADE THIS IN AND AFTER OF LIFETIME OF BEING A LOYAL MOPAR CUSTOMER, GO IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION.

THE RADIO SETTINGS RESET ON IT'S OWN WHICH HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONSOLE/INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING CHANGES FROM BRIGHT TO DIM WHEN IT'S STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE. ONE OF THE ENGINE FANS TURNS ON/OFF MORE THAN NORMAL AND IT'S LOUDER THEN IT BEEN IN THE PAST. I AM NOTICING A TICKING NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED BUT NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIND OUT THE ISSUE. LASTLY, WHEN ACCELERATING THE GAS PEDAL THE POWER LAGS MEANING YOU CAN LITERALLY FLOOR THE PEDAL AND IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET UP TO SPEED. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THERE'S NOTHING WRONG. SOMETHING IS WRONG BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIKE ONCE AGAIN CAME ON THIS MORNING.

CAR HAS STALLED TWICE AND WILL NOT START. FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED SATURDAY 22 JULY 17 AND THE SECOND INCIDENT WEDNESDAY 2 AUG 17. SEEMS AS IT TRIES TO TURN OVER BUT WILL NOT TURN ON. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TRYING TO TURN ON. WHEN IT FINALLY DID I, I COULD NOT SHIFT GEARS AND THE BRAKE SEEMED TO BE LOCKED. I TRIED TURNING OF VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I FINALLY GOT IT TO TURN OFF AND I WAITED AGAIN A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TURNING BACK ON. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOT TURNED ON YET AND NO MESSAGES HAVE CAME UP SAYING THERE ARE ANY ISSUES. BOTH TIMES VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. FIRST TIME IT HAD BEEN OFF FOR AN HOUR, SECOND TIME IT HAD BEEN OFF FOR FOUR HOURS. I BELIEVE THAT THE ALTERNATOR IS THE PROBLEM. WE FOUND THAT IF YOU HOLD THE ACCELERATION PEDAL DOWN WHILE CRANKING THE ENGINE IT STARTS, SIMILAR TO THE DAYS WHEN YOU HAD A CARBURETATED ENGINE AND IT WAS FLOODED. SINCE THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF THERE IS ON ERROR CODE GENERATED SO THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I HAD REQUESTED THE DETAILS OF WHAT MODIFICATIONS WERE MADE FOR THE RECALL BUT THE DEALER HAS NOT PROVIDED ME WITH THE INFORMATION.SINCE WE DID NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE RECALL BEING PERFORMED WE FEEL IT IS A RESULT OF WHAT WAS DONE TO THE VEHICLE. SO THIS LAST TIME I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE MANAGER DISCONNECTED THE MDS SENSOR AND DROVE THE VEHICLE, VEHICLE PERFORMED FINE, RECONNECT THE MDS SENSOR AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS LOCKING UP, ONCE AGAIN A CHARACTERISTIC PER CHRYSLER TECHS AND ENGINEERING. SO, WHICH LIE IS THE LIE AND WHICH LIE THE IS THE LIE. LIED TO CONTINUOUSLY, HAVE NOT HAD CALLS RETURNED FROM DEALERSHIP TO KNOW WHAT THE STATUS IS OF MY VEHICLE, PLUS HAVE CONTINUOUSLY BEEN BLOWN OFF BY CHRYSLER CARES GROUP IN DETROIT WITH MY CURRENT CASE FILED WITH CHRYSLER, JUST TONIGHT ON 29 AUGUST 2014, IT TOOK ME 8 TIMES TO CONTACT MY CASE MANAGERS BECAUSE I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CONTACTED TWO DAYS AGO, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN BUSY. TRANSMISSION HESITATES OR "STUTTERS" WHEN GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND FREEZES GOING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. WAS TOLD THERE WAS A "FLASH UPDATE" AVAILABLE AND COMPLETED. HAVE TAKEN DURANGO BACK TO SAME DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE 11/23/13, 06/10/14, AND HAD AN APPOINTMENT ON FRIDAY, 07/12/14 BUT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE MY INFORMATION/APPOINTMENT DOWN ON PAPER THEN CALL TO RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT. IT IS NOW 08/05/14, AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ONE RETURN PHONE CALL. THE ENGINE WILL SURGE TO A HIGH RPM WHILE I AM COASTING AT A SET SPEED (USUALLY BETWEEN 20-45 MPH). ON THE VISIT DATE OF 06/10/14, SERVICE REPAIR SHOWS TWO FLASH UPDATES (SOFTWARE 1 & SOFTWARE 2) WERE COMPLETED. UPON PULLING OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD FROM A FULL STOP, THE SUV WAS SLOW TO ACCELERATE. IT SEEMED "SLUGGISH", AS IF IT WAS NOT SWITCHING TO THE PROPER GEAR AND HAD TROUBLE SPEEDING UP. CAUSED AN ONCOMING CAR TO HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM HITTING ME, WHEN I SHOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO PULL OUT, UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHILE I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND TRY TO SPEED UP. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FERMAN DODGE TWICE NOW, AND THEY TELL ME THAT THEY "HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT", AND WHEN THEY TEST-DROVE IT, THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE, I HAVE COME ACROSS OTHERS WHO HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN NOVEMBER 2013, AND IT DID NOT DO THIS WHEN I FIRST GOT IT. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY STALLS WHILE IN DRIVE SO I HAVE TO PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL THEN BACK INTO DRIVE AND THEN IT DRIVES AGAIN. ON APRIL 2013 WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2013 DODGE DURANGO RS. TWO MONTHS LATER, IN JUNE, WE TOOK A TRIP, THE CAR OVERHEATED ON THE HIGHWAY. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE CAR SHUT DOWN- WE GOT IT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST SERVICE STATION. DODGE DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF OVERHEATING WAS DUE TO A BROKEN HEATER HOSE. ON MARCH 2014 WE TOOK ANOTHER TRIP, TWO HOURS INTO OUR TRIP IT OVERHEATED AGAIN, WE LET IT COOL DOWN AND DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION. THE CAR WAS SERVICED FOR TWO DAYS, DODGE DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF OVERHEATING WAS DUE TO THERMOSTAT AND SENSOR MALFUNCTION. A WEEK LATER- MARCH 22, WE TOOK IT BACK FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. DODGE DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF OVERHEATING WAS DUE TO AIR PRESSURE IN THE ENGINE. FOUR WEEKS LATER, APRIL 21, WE TOOK IT YET AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, WHICH BRINGS ME TO TODAY. AS A RESULT OF THIS CONSTANT PROBLEM WE HAVE BEEN SPENDING A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF ENERGY, TIME AND MONEY (HOTELS, RENTALS, ECT). THIS ISSUE HAS RUINED MY VACATION, HAS CAUSED ME TO MISS WORK AND MEET DEADLINES. WHEN WE HAD OUR FIRST INCIDENT, I DECIDED TO CALL IT A FLUKE. I SAID, THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE, I DECIDED TO FORGET IT AND MOVE ON. WHEN IT RUINED MY VACATION YET A SECOND TIME AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AFTER MULTIPLE SERVICES, WE CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THIS CAR WAS UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I DON'T THINK IT'S FAIR THAT I KEEP THIS CAR AND RISK THE CHANCE OF THIS VEHICLE HAVING SOME INTERNAL DAMAGE THAT WILL AFFECT MY FAMILY IN THE FUTURE. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A WAY OUT OF MY LOAN BUT SIMPLY WOULD LIKE FOR DODGE TO PUT ME IN A NEW VEHICLE. I CURRENTLY HAVE A CLAIM WITH DODGE AND I DON'T FEEL LIKE I BEEN GETTING THE ATTENTION I DESERVE. HAD HORRIBLE SMELL COMING FROM COOLING SYSTEM. TOOK IN NUMEROUS TIMES TO DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND FIX. FINALLY STUMPED THE DEALERSHIP ASKED STAR AT CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS. THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW THE ISSUE AND GAVE MECHANICS STEPS TO FIX. TURNS OUT THE NEW "GREEN FRIENDLY" ENGINE COOLANT THEY ARE USING ON THE NEW DURANGOS WAS NEVER TESTED. THE COOLANT WAS INTERACTING WITH ANYTHING RUBBER IT CAME INTO CONTACT WITH AND WAS BREAKING DOWN THE RUBBER. STAR TOLD THEM TO REPLACE EVERY PIECE OF RUBBER THE COOLANT COMES INTO CONTACT WITH. IT IS NOW MIDDLE OF AUGUST AND THE SMELL IS STILL PRESENT AND TO DATE CHRYSLER HAS NOT ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN OR RECALL ON THE COOLANT OR HOSES. WE HAVE SUBMITTED PAPER WORK FOR THE LEMON LAW. *TR
