TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO OPERATE AS NEEDED, WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS THE ONLY DOOR THAT COULD BE OPENED MANUALLY WITH THE KEY. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT UPON DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY, THE SYSTEM WOULD RESET AND RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED THE PROCEDURE TWICE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RESUMED SOON AFTER THE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER NOR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 155,000.

ON THE EVENING OF 03/04/2021 @ 9:00PM. WHILR DRIVING HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE DOING APPROX 35 MPH, MY VAN SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND ABILITY TO USE POWER STEERING AND USE OF BRAKES. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND THEY WERE ABLE TO HELP ME GET THE VAN OUT OF THE TRAVEL LANE AND SAFELY INTO A PARKING LOT. VAN DID NOT WANT TO START AFTER CUTTING OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND CUTTING IT BACK ON. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VAN IT WOULDNT ACCELERATE PASSED 15MPH WITH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR THEN IT CONSTANTLY STALLED OUT 8-10 TIMES THE LAST MILE FROM HOME.

WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL FUNCTION AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, ANOTHER DRIVER TOLD US THE VAN'S TAIL LIGHT WAS SMOKING. WE PULLED AROUND A CORNER AND INTO A PARKING LOT AND FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS ON FIRE WITH FLAMES LAPPING UP THE SIDE OF THE VAN. THE VAN WAS TURNED OFF AND THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. WE REMOVED THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND FOUND THAT THE INSIDE OF THE ASSEMBLY AND THE WIRING HARNESS WERE DESTROYED. THERE IS ALSO BODY DAMAGE. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT BULB IN THE PASSENGER SIDE BURNING OUT FREQUENTLY, AND HAD SEEN EVIDENCE OF OVERHEATING AND SOME MELTING IN THE BRAKE LIGHT CONNECTOR SOCKET IN ABOUT 2010. ALTHOUGH THE LIGHTS BURN OUT FREQUENTLY, THE MELTING HAD NOT GOTTEN WORSE SINCE THEN. THE DRIVER'S SIDE TAIL LIGHT HAS NEVER EXHIBITED A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. AT THIS TIME IT IS UNKNOWN IF THERE IS ANY DAMAGE OR FAULT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BEYOND THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. A ROUGH ESTIMATE OF OBVIOUS DAMAGES IS APPROXIMATELY $1,000 TO $1,500 WITH REPAINTING.

THE WIRING INSIDE OF THE POWER SLIDING DOOR CAUGHT FIRE WITH OUT BEING USED. IT WAS THE DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN DRIVEN AND PARKED FOR APPROX 10 MIN WHEN THE FIRE WAS NOTICED DUE TO THE SMELL.

IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK UNLESS YOU RESET THE COMPUTER BY REMOVING THE BATTERY CABLE FOR ONE MIN. AND CONNECTING IT BACK. COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE FLASHED FOR A PERMANENT FIX. THE REMOVING THE CABLE IS JUST A TEMPORARY FIX.I BOUGHT IT BROKEN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO LOCK THE DOORS AND THE LOCKS FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CONTACT HAD TO REMOVE THE I.O.D FUSE FROM THE FUSE BOX AND RESET THE COMPUTER IN ORDER FOR THE LOCKS TO ENGAGE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE RADIO ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF WITH A LOUD POP AT THE SAME TIME THE DASHBOARD CLUSTER IE: FUEL, SPEEDOMETER AND TEMP GAUGE SUDDENLY DROPPED AND THEN CAME BACK UP TO THERE PREVIOUS LEVEL. THE ODOMETER WENT BLANK AS WELL AND CAME ON AGAIN. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT IT WAS QUITE DISCONCERTING TO LOOK AT THE DASHBOARD AND SEE ALL THE GAUGES IN THE SAME POSITION AS IF THE CAR WAS OFF. Y WIFE HAS TOLD ME THAT IT HAD HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY BUT SHE COULD NOT RECALL THE DATE.

MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS A DEMAND. IT STARTED WITH POWER SLIDING DOOR NOT OPENING THEN THE LOCKS WOULD NOT UNLOCK IF I DID NOT SLAM THE SIDE DOOR SHUT THE FLASHERS WOULD COME ON AND I COULD NOT SHUT THEM OFF THE REAR WINDOW WIPER STARTED MOVING I COULD NOT SHUT IF OFF ALL THE DASH LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND INDICATED I HAD NO GAS. THIS IS A HANDICAPPED MODIFIED VAN AND I USE A WHEELCHAIR TO AMBULATE. I HAVE TAKEN OFF WORK FOR FULL DAYS AND PARTIAL DAYS TO GET THIS PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AND FIXED. AFTER A $2,488 DOLLAR BILL TO EXCISE THE DEMAND THE DOOR STILL WILL NOT OPEN AND THE WHEELCHAIR RAMP WILL NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE TO WORK AND I AM ALMOST OUT OF LEAVE. DODGE SHOULD COME TO THE RESCUE AND ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE COMPUTER PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF AND RECALL THESE VEHICLES TO HAVE THE COMPUTER PROGRAM PATCH TO ALL OWNERS. MY PROBLEMS STARTED AT 38,000 MILES.

THE 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN AND 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY HAVE A KNOWN SOFTWARE BUG FOR THE BODY CONTROL MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE POWER LOCKS ON THE VEHICLE. ONCE THIS OCCURS ON YOUR VEHICLE, THE OWNER IS UNABLE TO LOCK THE VEHICLE REMOTELY OR FROM THE POWER LOCK SWITCH OR WHEN THE VEHICLE EXCEEDS 10 MPH AUTO LOCK FEATURE. KNOWN SERVICE BULLETINS ARE: 08-028-05 AND 08-040-04 TO PERMANENTLY FIX THIS ISSUE WITH THE LOCKS THE OWNER CAN TEMPORARILY FIX THE PROBLEM BY PULLING THE POWER TO THE VEHICLE AND LETTING TEH BODY CONTROL MODULE RESET. THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX AS THE PROBLEM HAS RE-OCCURRED 3 TIMES SINCE THE ORIGINAL ISSUE CAME UP. THE PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS KNOWN SOFTWARE ISSUE RESULTS IN THE CONSUMER/OWNER OF THE VEHICLE TO TAKE INTO A DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIR A MINIMUM OF $130+TAX. I BELIEVE THIS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE (THE AUTO LOCK AT SPEED DOESN'T WORK), AND IT IS ALSO A THEFT ISSUE IN THAT THE OWNER CAN NOT PROPERLY LOCK THE VEHICLE.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE THE ELECTRIC SLIDING SIDE DOOR, A LARGE SPARK AND SMALL DEBRIS FIRE WAS SEEN IN THE BOTTOM DOOR RAIL. UPON INSPECTION, A BREAK IN THE WIRE HARNESS HAD ALOUD WIRES TO BE SEVERED THAT CONTROLS THE DOOR AND LOCKING SYSTEM. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ON BOTH SIDE DOORS NO LONGER WORKED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WOULD NO LONGER OPEN ELECTRICALLY. I REMOVED THE WIRING HARNESS AND WIRES AND DISCARDED THEM TO AVOID ANY MORE PROBLEMS (SPARKING AND/OR FIRES). THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR FIRE HAZARD IN THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT. *TR

THE AUTOMATIC LOCK SYSTEM ON MY 05 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN DOESN'T WORK, WITH THE KEY FOB OR WHEN PUSHING THE AUTOMATED LOCK BUTTONS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CAR BEEPS LIKE IT IS LOCKING WHEN YOU PUSH THE KEY FOB. HOWEVER, IT REALLY ISN'T LOCKING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2005 DODGE CARAVAN MODELS. THAT BEING SAID, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL, BECAUSE THIS IS "NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE." HOW IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE? DODGE, THEMSELVES, ACTUALLY CALLS PART OF THE AUTOMATED LOCK SYSTEM A "SAFETY FEATURE." THE SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY LOCK, ONCE YOU REACH A SPEED OF 15 MPH. WELL, THIS NO LONGER WORKS EITHER. HOW IS IT CALLED A "SAFETY FEATURE" WHEN IT WORKS, BUT THEN IT ISN'T A "SAFETY ISSUE" WHEN IT DOESN'T WORK? I PHYSICALLY CANNOT LOCK THE PASSENGER DOORS MYSELF, WHEN DRIVING. I EITHER HAVE TO REMEMBER TO DO IT BEFORE I LEAVE, MAKE SURE THE PERSON THAT GETS OUT DOES IT BEFORE THEY LEAVE, PULL OVER TO LOCK THEM, OR DRIVE WITH THEM UNLOCKED. THAT'S NOT SAFE! I ATTEND NIGHT SCHOOL & AM NOT COMFORTABLE LEAVING MY CAR UNLOCKED, BUT IT IS NOT AS EASY TO GET INTO MY VEHICLE QUICKLY NOW. I HAVE TO MANUALLY OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR (ONLY DOOR THAT HAS A MANUAL LOCK), REACH IN, UNLOCK THE SIDE DOOR, THEN OPEN THE SIDE DOOR, PUT MY THINGS IN, LOCK THE SIDE DOOR, CLOSE THE DOOR, AND THEN GET IN THE FRONT. THAT IS A LOT OF EXTRA TIME IN A DARK PARKING LOT! NORMALLY, I WOULD JUST CLICK THE UNLOCK & THE OPEN DOOR BUTTON ON THE WAY TO THE VAN, PUT THE STUFF IN, CLOSE THE DOOR & GO. IN ADDITION, IF YOU ARE A PASSENGER, YOU HAVE TO STAND THERE & WAIT TO BE LET IN. AS MENTIONED, THERE IS NO KEY ENTRY ON THAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AT ALL. MANY TIMES, I AM LEFT STANDING THERE (WITH MY PURSE), AS MY HUSBAND WALKS AROUND TO THE DRIVER SIDE & LETS HIMSELF & THE KID'S IN THE VEHICLE. *TR

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING RANDOM ELECTRICAL ISSUES INTERMITTENTLY FOR A FEW WEEKS, BUT TODAY, IT WAS NOTICED THAT MY POWER LOCKS ARE NOT ABLE TO BE ENGAGED OR DISENGAGED VIA EITHER MY KEY FOB OR MANUAL BY THE BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S DOOR. THEY ALSO DO NOT ENGAGE ONCE THE VEHICLE REACHES THE APPROPRIATE SPEED. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME, IS VIA THE KEY IN THE DOOR, AND MANUALLY PUSHING DOWN/PULLING UP THE LOCKS THEMSELVES. AS A MOM OF THREE CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 10, HAVING THEM RIDING IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT KNOWING FOR SURE THAT THEIR DOORS ARE LOCKED, CAUSES DISTRESS IN REGARD TO THEIR SAFETY. I NEED TO KNOW THAT I CAN LOCK MY VEHICLE QUICKLY BEHIND MY CHILDREN, IF NECESSARY, AND KNOW THAT IF THEY HAPPEN TO PULL ON THE HANDLE ON THE SLIDING DOORS, THAT I CAN REST ASSURED THAT THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN IN RESPONSE TO THIS AS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. *TR

POWER DOOR LOCKS COULD NOT BE ACTIVATED USING THE POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCHES ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE PASSENGER DOOR, THE KEY FOB, AND THE 15 MPH AUTO LOCK FEATURE. ATTEMPTING TO ACTIVATE POWER DOOR LOCKS FROM THE KEY FOB GIVES A FALSE INDICATION THAT THE DOORS HAVE LOCKED SINCE THE HORN BEEPS WITHOUT THE DOORS LOCKING. NOT HAVING THE AUTO-LOCK FEATURE AND NOT HAVING CONTROL OF THE POWER DOOR LOCKS FROM THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER DOORS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR PASSENGERS EXITING THE VEHICLE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. *TR

HAVE GOTTEN TO POINT I PURCHASE WINDOW TRACKS AND REPLACE MYSELF TO SAVE ON COST. MOST RECENTLY DASH LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS FLASHING RAPIDLY RADIO AND AIR GO OUT AND VEHICLE WANTING TO STALL. THIS IS A CONVERSION VAN BY BRAUN. HAD HANDICAPPED PERSON IN WHEELCHAIR IN PASSENGER SIDE FRONT. VAN STALLED IN INTERSECTION BUT WAS ABLE TO GET OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD. WHERE I WAS, I COULD NOT GET WHEELCHAIR OUT OF VAN. WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED NOT TO MENTION I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND HEAT WAS AT A FEEL LIKE TEMP OF 108. AFTER 10 OR 15 MINUTES VAN RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME. AUTO ELECTRIC REPAIR SHOP REPLACED IGNITION WIRING HARNESS BUT AFTER 30 DAYS IT IS NOW DOING SAME AGAIN ONLY WORSE. I NOW HAVE NO TRANSPORT FOR HANDICAPPED PERSON BECAUSE WHY FIX SOMETHING THAT CANNOT BE RESOLVED WITHOUT CHANGING EVERY PART TO FIGURE OUT REAL PROBLEM. THE LEFT SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING IN JUNE 2013 BY ONLY OPENING ABOUT 3 INCHES AND STOPPING, THEN LATER STARTED NOT UNLOCKING AUTOMATICALLY. YOU THEN HAD TO EITHER PULL THE DOOR OPEN OR PULL IT SHUT. IN JULY OF 2014 THE RIGHT SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING AND UNLOCKING AUTOMATICALLY. WE ACTUALLY STARTED HAVING PROBLEM WITH IT SHORTLY AFTER WE BOUGHT IT IN APRIL 2005. IF YOU HAD IT OPEN, IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY NOT CLOSE AT ALL EVEN MANUALLY UNTIL YOU PULLED ON IT FOR A WHILE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER MORE THAN ONCE AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. NOW, BOTH HAVE TO BE MANUALLY UNLOCKED AND ON OCCASION THE RIGHT SIDE WILL OPEN AUTOMATICALLY AFTER YOU MANUALLY UNLOCK IT. NEITHER OF THE REAR SLIDING DOORS LOCK OR UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY WITH THE BUTTON ON THE HEADLINER, THE AUTOMATIC BUTTON ON THE DOOR, OR WITH THE KEY. THE LEFT DOOR DOES NOT EVEN WANT TO OPEN MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE. THIS GETS SCARY WHEN YOU HAVE A BABY SEAT ON THE OTHER SIDE AND OTHERS HAVE LEFT THE VEHICLE BEFORE YOU AND YOU HAVE NO ONE TO OPEN THE DOOR AND ARE UNABLE TO CLIMB OVER THE FRONT SEATS DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES. WHEN WE BOUGHT THE VAN WE WERE SHOWN AT THE DEALER HOW THE DOORS WOULD STOP IF THERE WAS A HAND, FOOT, OR SOMETHING IN THE DOORWAY TO AVOID INJURY, SO COULD THE MECHANICALS THAT WORK THIS BE AT FAULT?? WE NEVER WANTED TO TRY THIS TO SEE, BUT THIS IS ABOUT WHERE THE DOOR STOPS WORKING ON THE LEFT SIDE. I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE DOORS NOT WORKING. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND CANNOT UNDERSTAND WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS WHY THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SHIFTING HAD TO BE TAMPERED IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. IN ADDITION, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE WOULD NOT CLOSE PROPERLY,WHICH CAUSED HER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE DOOR COMPLETELY OPEN. THE PROBLEM RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. ALSO, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

I ACTIVATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR. THERE WAS A POP AND A FLASH INDICATIVE OF AN ELECTRICAL SHORT AND THE DOOR NO LONGER OPENED OR CLOSED AUTOMATICALLY. I INSPECTED THE WIRES AND FOUND THAT TWO WIRES WERE BROKEN AND POSSIBLY MADE CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER, CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSIDE MY GARAGE AT THE TIME AND NO ONE WAS INSIDE. HOWEVER, THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION SHOULD THE VEHICLE CATCH FIRE BECAUSE OF THE FLIMSY WIRING ON THE DOORS. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR STOPPED WORKING TWO DAYS LATER, BUT WITH NO POP OR FLASH. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS DON'T WORK. TAILGATE IS STUCK IN UNLOCKED POSITION. ALL OTHER LOCKS HAVE TO BE OPERATED MANUALLY, THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK THE TAILGATE MANUALLY. REMOVING AND REINSERTING THE FUSE FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AT A TIME. EVENTUALLY REMOVING THE FUSE STOPPED WORKING. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS THAT THE REPAIR WAS TO FLASH THE BODY CONTROLLER. THIS ISSUE ALSO IS CAUSING A P0135 CODE WHICH IS FOR AN O2 SENSOR HEATER. THIS CODE COMES UP EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE O2 SENSOR. THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY CONCERN WITH THE TAILGATE NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK WHICH IS AN EASY WAY FOR SOMEONE TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE AND EITHER CARJACK IT OR STEAL IT, OR BELONGINGS. AS FOR THE P0135 CODE IT HAS CAUSED ME TO CHASE MONEY AFTER AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM THAT REALLY DOES NOT EXIST. THE CONTROLLER CAN ONLY BE FLASHED BY A DODGE SERVICE CENTER AND THEY FIRST WANT TO CHARGE TO DIAGNOSE AN ISSUE THAT IS COMMONLY KNOWN ABOUT, AND THEN PAY FOR THE FIX. I NEED TO GET THE P0135 CODE CLEARED IN ORDER TO PASS THE EMISSIONS TEST AND GET THE LICENSE STICKER, OTHERWISE I CANNOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. *TR

STILL NOTHING CALLED THE DEALER AND HE SAID THAT THEY COULD CONNECT THE DIAGNOSTIC BUT SOUNDED LIKE THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A START OF $500. THE DEALER ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT I HAVE BEEN HAVING - TAIL LIGHTS BURNING OUT, SLIDING DOORS OPENING/CLOSING, WINDOW NOT GOING DOWN, POWER LOCKS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING) WERE ALSO A PART OF THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE. YET, IT IS NOT A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM APPALLED THAT WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE, THAT DODGE AND THE NHTSA HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THAT IS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY CONCERN. I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE SLIDING DOORS AND THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY TIMES WHEN THE DOOR WILL CLOSE WITHOUT HAVING BEEN TOLD TO. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS: VEHICLE REPEATEDLY LOSES POWER AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING. POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY FROM BOTH INTERIOR SWITCHES AND THE KEY FOB; WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK ANY OF THE 5 DOORS FROM INTERIOR. MANUALLY ABLE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS INDIVIDUALLY. UNABLE TO LOCK BACK HATCH WITH KEY FOB OR FROM INSIDE VEHICLE THEREFORE, VEHICLE REMAINS UNLOCKED. BOTH POWER SLIDING DOORS AND POWER HATCH STOPPED WORKING. THE POWER DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE STOPPED WORKING. IT COULD ONLY BE LOCKED/UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING. THE DOOR BECAME COMPLETELY INOPERABLE SINCE THE IT WAS STUCK IN THE LOCKED POSITION. IT COULD NOT EVEN BE UNLOCKED BY MANUALLY PULLING ON THE LOCK...THE LOCK WAS FROZEN. THEN THE SLIDER DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE STARTED TO FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. FORTUNATELY IT WOULD JUST REMAIN IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION SO WE COULD STILL OPEN THAT DOOR. ELECTRIC LOCKS: AFTER 36000 MILES AND NO MORE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE THE POWER LOCKS QUIT WORKING. I FOUND THAT PULLING THE BATTERY WOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE FOR A SHORT WHILE BUT IT WOULD COME BACK AGAIN AND THAT DOING THIS COULD CAUSE ISSUES WITH HOW THE ENGINE RAN FOR A WHILE AND OF COURSE THE RADIO AND CLOCK WOULD HAVE TO BE RESET. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I FOUND THAT THIS IS KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD REQUIRE A FIRMWARE UPGRADE ON THE VEHICLE ON BOARD COMPUTER. THE MANUFACTERER NOR DEALER WOULD DO THIS AT NO COST. IT COST ME $85.00 TO GET THE UPDATE. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS RIGHT AND ONLY HOPE THAT OTHERS WILL FILE COMPLAINTS TO GET DODGE TO CORRECT THIS AND RE-IMBURSE THEIR CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD TO DO THIS. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS HAVE BEEN FAILING INTERMITTENTLY FOR 3 YRS. I UNHOOK THE IOD FUSE OR THE BATTERY CABLE MOMENTARILY AND THIS SEEMS TO WORK FOR A WHILE. THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD WORK FOR A SHORT TIME - THEN FAIL AGAIN UNTIL I REPEATED THE FUSE OR BATTERY CABLE REMOVAL PROCEDURE. AS TIME WENT ON THE FIX WOULD LAST LESS & LESS TIME. CURRENTLY, THE LOCKS MAY ONLY WORK FOR A DAY OR SO. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. MY WIFE WAS REALLY SCARED THE OTHER DAY WHEN SOMEONE WAS APPROACHING THE CAR AND SHE COULD NOT LOCK THE DOORS. SHE WAS IN AN UNFAMILIAR LOCATION WITH THE 4 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT. WHILE IT ACTUALLY TURNED OUT TO BE A FALSE ALARM, IT DID OPEN MY EYES. WHILE I HAVE BEEN JUST "FIXING" IT ALL THE TIME, I REALIZED THAT I CANNOT CONTROL WHEN AND WHERE IT WILL HAPPEN AND YOU CANNOT ALWAYS GET OUT AND RESET THE FUSE. POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILURE! THIS PROBLEM STARTED A MONTH AGO WHEN THE POWER-LOCKS JUST QUIT WORKING. SO I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE CAR MANUAL WHERE YOU CAN REPROGRAM THE LOCKS BY SWITCHING THE IGNITION KEY 4 TIMES ENDING IN THE OFF POSITION AND THEN AFTER 10 SECONDS TURN THE DOOR LOCK ON, A CHIME WILL SOUND, IT DID BUT LOCKS STILL DO NOT WORK. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A FUSE SO I REMOVED THE IOD FUSE AND PUT IT BACK IN 5 SEC. THE LOCKS STARTED TO WORK AGAIN. THIS LASTED ABOUT 2 OR 3 TIMES AND THEN THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO RETURN EVENTUALLY. HE SAID THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS WEARING OUT AND IT WOULD EVENTUALLY NEED TO BE REPLACED! I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS AT ONLY 65,000 MILES. I WROTE A LETTER TO THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND HAD A CALL FROM ONE OF THEIR REPS. HE REFUSED TO CONSIDER THAT CHRYSLER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE PRODUCTION OF THE MINI VAN. I WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL MY WARRANTY FOLKS (WARRANTY ALREADY OUT) AS MY POWER STEERING SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. HELLO---DOES THIS NOT MEAN THAT CHRYSLER HAS MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS?? AS SOON AS I CAN CALL ABOUT MY WARRANTY I WILL CONTACT THE WARRANTY COMPANY. THE BOTTOM LINE IS- CHRYSLER WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SAFETY OR QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS. TRAFFIC WAS BUMPER TO BUMPER,STOP AND GO WITH MANY HEAVY TRUCKS.AFTER 2 911 CALLS, THE THRUWAY FLATBED TOW TRUCK DID NOT REACH US FOR NEARLY A HALF HOUR. NO COPS CAME AT ALL. MY HUSBAND, IN HIS LARGE MOTORIZED WHEELCHAIR, AND I (THE DRIVER) WERE STOPPED WITH TRAFFIC MOVING IN THE 2 LANES FROM BEHIND US.MY BLINKERS WERE ON BUT TRAFFIC HAD TO REALIZE WE WERE TOTALLY STOPPED AND THEN USEOTHER LANES, INCLUDING THE BREAKDOWN LANE TO OUR RIGHT, TO GO AROUND US! BOTH REPAIRS DID NOT MAKE THE VAN START. THE DEALER SHOP WAS IN CONTACT WITH THE CHRYSLER/DODGE CORPORATION. THE WIRING HARNESS WAS OPENED. PART OF THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND. I DON'T KNOW ALL THE DETAILS OF THEIR INVESTIGATION. WAITING FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE FIXED, MY HANDICAPPED HUSBAND AND I HAVE NOW AMASSED $1000 IN HOTEL/ETC. BILLS DUE TO THIS INCIDENT. AND, THIS COST DOES NOT YET INCLUDE FIXING OUR VEHICLE. I HAVE A 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. LAST NIGHT MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING ON I-15 FROM LAS VEGAS AT APROX.TIME 9PM IN THE DARK AND OUR HEADLIGHTS TURNED-OFF AND THEN TURNED ON RANDOMLY. THIS WAS AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE DRIVING LIKE THIS FOR MORE THAN 100 MILE IN THE MOJAVE DESERT. CARS THOUGHT I WAS FLASHING THEM. I WAS DRIVING IN THE SLOW LANE AT ONE POINT BEHIND A TRUCKER, I BELIEVE HE THOUGHT I WAS FLASHING HIM. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY 2005 DODGE CARAVAN. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING POWER SURGES WHILE DRIVING FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS OR SO. I RECENTLY BROUGHT IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND MY MECHANIC CONTACTED CHRYSLER BECAUSE HE COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. CHRYSLER TOLD THEM THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS OF THIS AND SOME OF THEM HAVE RESULTED IN FIRE. THEY WOULD NOT RELEASE A WAY TO FIX IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW HOW YET. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY, I HAVE 2 YOUNG KIDS THAT ARE FREQUENTLY RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE. I AM WORRIED THAT IT WILL START ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING IT AND MY FAMILY COULD BE INJURED. THE OTHER DAY MY AUTOMATIC LOCKS CEASED TO WORK IN THE 2005 GRAND CARAVAN SXT. THE DOOR SWITCH, KEY REMOTE AND WHEN THE CAR GOES OVER 20MPH DID NOT LOCK THE DOORS AT ALL. HAVE LOOKED IN THE MANUAL, NO HELP. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, I WILL HAVE TO TAKE THE VAN IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHANGE THE SOFTWARE IN THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS, I WILL HAVE TO PAY $150-200 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. SINCE THIS IS SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE, WE WILL TAKE THE VAN IN, BUT AFTER READING THE INTERNET SITES--MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE LIGHTS GOING OFF WITHOUT NOTICE (WHILE I HAVE THEM SWITCHED ON). EVENTUALLY THEY WILL COME BACK ON, BUT THERE ARE TIMES THEY DO NOT COME BACK ON WHILE I AM DRIVING. ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE REPORTED ON THE INTERNET BY OTHER USERS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR SINCE I HAVE HAD THE VAN. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS EXIST WITH THIS VAN AND HAVE SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW. LIGHTS GOING ON AND OFF, DOORS NOT WORKING WHEN BUTTONS WERE PUSHED (SHOULD BE AUTOMATIC AFTER BUTTONS PUSHED), WINDOWS NOT WORKING AT ALL WHEN BUTTON IS PUSHED (EVENTUALLY WORK--HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR) AND NOW THE LOCKS DO NOT WORK AT ALL. THE DOOR CONTROLS WERE EVENTUALLY REPLACED BY THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY EVENTUALLY WOULD OPEN SO SLOWLY. POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. CHECKED OWNERS MANUAL TO FIGURE OUT WHICH FUSE TO CHECK AND IT DIDN'T LIST THE FUSE FOR POWER DOOR LOCKS. DID AN ONLINE SEARCH FOR MY VEHICLE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR AND FOUND THAT LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THEY SAY PULL IOD FUSE FOR FIVE SECONDS AND THEN PUT IT BACK IN. THE FUSE IS NOT EVEN BLOWN, BUT IT NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FOR AT LEAST FIVE SECONDS AND THEN PUT BACK IN AND THE POWER LOCKS WORK AGAIN. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED TO ME TWICE IN TWO WEEKS. CONSULTED WEB FORUM, WHICH RECOMMENDED REMOVING DOOR LOCK FUSE FOR 5 SECONDS. THIS WORKED FOR ANOTHER WEEK. NOW BELIEVE THAT BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) NEEDS REPLACING, WHICH IS EXPENSIVE (OVER $700). UPON PULLING THE BATTERY TERMINAL THESE ITEMS WILL WORK FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN CEASE TO FUNCTION AGAIN. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLAR IN DEALER "REPAIRS" I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS DUE TO A SOFTWARE PROBLEM WITH THE BODY CONTROL MODULE ON THE 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS. THE FIX IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FIRMWARE UPDATE TO THE BCM PROVIDED BY DODGE. THE ISSUE I HAVE IS THAT IF THIS IS A SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE UPDATE TO THE VAN'S COMPUTER WHY SHOULD THE DEALER EXPECT ME TO PAY $70 SO MY VEHICLE WILL FUNCTION PROPERLY THE SAME AS IT DID WHEN PURCHASED. NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE VAN AND IT CURRENTLY HAS JUST OVER 60K MILEAGE. NO ONE CAN DUPLICATE OR FIX THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS ON THE FREEWAY WHEN AN INCIDENT STARTED. MY 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN I BELIEVE HAS A DEFECT IN THE CLOCK SPRING. I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THERE HAS BEEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE FRONT AIR-BAG SENSOR CONTROL MODULE. TWO WEEKS AFTER I RECEIVED THIS LETTER THE AIR-BAG LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AFTER THE LIGHT CAME ON THE HORN STOPPED WORKING ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER STEERING WHEEL COMPONENTS (CRUISE CONTROL, RADIO CONTROL). I TOOK MY VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY , THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL HAD CORRODED AND BROKE AND THAT IS WHAT IS CAUSING THIS DEFECT. MY VAN'S MILEAGE JUST TURNED 70,000. I USE MY VAN TO TRANSPORT MY 3 KIDS IN AND FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED RIGHT AWAY. ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO ENGAGE LOCKS. LOCK VERIFICATION SIGNALED LIGHTS AND HORN INDICATING THE LOCKS WERE ENGAGED. AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE THE VAN WAS ENTERED ILLEGALLY AND PROPERTY WAS STOLEN. THIS WAS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THE ELECTRONIC LOCKING SYSTEM DID NOT DISENGAGE FROM THE CONTROLS IN THE VAN. THIS RESULTED IN THE INABILITY TO REMOVE 3 CHILDREN FROM THE VAN QUICKLY IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) HAS BEEN RESET SEVERAL TIMES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CATHEDRAL CITY DODGE REFUSED TO WORK ON THE RECALL BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS MODIFIED. THE RECALL PROBLEM HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MODIFICATIONS BUT CATHEDRAL CITY DODGE REFUSED TO WORK ON IT.. AFTER SEVERAL HEATED CONVERSATIONS WITH MANAGEMENT CATHEDRAL CITY DODGE RETURNED MY VEHICLE WITH A DEAD BATTERY, AND A LEAK IN MY ENGINE AND DID NOT FIX THE RECALLED ITEM. AFTER I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE NEW PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MODIFICATIONS BUT WERE INDEPENDENT FROM ANY MODIFICATIONS PREVIOUSLY MADE TO MY VEHICLE. AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE DODGE CORPORATION I WAS REFERRED TO THE DODGE SERVICE CENTER IN LAQUINTA. GAUGES FAILED WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION, LOSS OF SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, ODOMETER, FAILURE LIGHTS AND ELECTRIC LOCKS. GAUGES WERE RESTORED BY AFOREMENTIONED BATTERY DISCONNECT METHOD. WE MAY BE HAVING TWO SEPARATE PROBLEMS WITH THE 2005 GRAND CARAVAN. THE ISSUE OF PRIMARY CONCERN WAS THAT THE VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY, AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON , DIED WHILE BEING DRIVEN. SINCE WE OWNED THE VEHICLE THIS HAPPENED ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. WHEN THE VEHICLE DIED WE LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER OR STOP. ON ALL OCCASIONS WE HAVE BEEN GOING AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 35 MPH. ON THE LAST OCCASION WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ON A RED LIGHT THE VEHICLE DIED 1/4 OF THE WAY INTO THE TURN. HAD THE STEERING WHEEL NOT BEEN TURNED PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE STALLING WE WOULD HAVE BEEN GOING STRAIGHT INTO THE CROSSING TRAFFIC WITH NO WAY OF STOPPING OR TURNING AWAY. I AM A MOTHER OF 4 CHILDREN AND WAS IN THE VEHICLE ALONE AT THE TIME. LUCKILY NONE OF MY CHILDREN WERE WITH ME, AND THE VEHICLES AROUND ME WERE PAYING ATTENTION. I STARTED THE VEHICLE, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT HAVING THE PROBLEM AGAIN. ON THE OTHER OCCASIONS THE PROBLEM PERSISTED UNTIL MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET UP TO SPEEDS GREATER THAN 35 MPH. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM EITHER TIME. NO REPAIRS WERE BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE IN THIS REGARD. THE ABOVE SOUNDED VERY SIMILAR TO THE NHTSA ACTION # PE05027. OUR SECOND ISSUE MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED TO THE ABOVE AND WE CONSIDERED IT A NUISANCE. WE INCLUDED THIS INFORMATION WITH THE THOUGHT THAT IT COULD BE A SYMPTOM OF ABOVE THAT OTHERS WERE EXPERIENCING. THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START SPORADICALLY. WHEN WE TRIED TO START IT ALL OF THE NEEDLE GAUGES ON THE DASHBOARD WILL SHOOT TO THE RIGHT, AND THEN DROP BACK DOWN TO THE LEFT, AND BOUNCE AROUND ON THE LEFT QUARTER OF THE GAUGE. WE ATTEMPT TO JUMP START THE VEHICLE AND AFTER SEVERAL TRIES IT WILL START UP. THERE DID NOT SEEM TO BE A CORRELATION BETWEEN THE TWO PROBLEMS , BEYOND THEY BOTH APPEARED TO BE ELECTRICAL. *AK

2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS OFF/ STALLS AND POWER CUTS OUT WHILE DRIVING, PARKING, STOPPING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS. WE'VE BEEN EXTREMELY FORTUNATE THAT WE HAVEN'T GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE THE PROBLEM CAN OCCUR WHILE DOING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY OR 30 MPH ON LOCAL STREETS. *AK WE'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM SINCE A MONTH INTO OWNING THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURED 9 TIMES IN THE LAST 2.5 YEARS. WE'VE BROUGHT THE VAN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT, YET THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT (LAST MONTH, FEB 2007) WHERE WE EXPERIENCED STALLING AND LOSS OF POWER IN THE VAN, THE DEALER HAD A CO-PILOT DIAGNOSTICS DEVICE SETUP IN THE VAN AND IT DIDN'T GET ANY READINGS WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURED BECAUSE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN (WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS). THE DEALER HAS SINCE ASKED US TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VAN WITH THE CO-PILOT IN IT AND "PRESS THE BUTTON" IF WE THINK THE PROBLEM IS GOING TO OCCUR. SINCE WE SEEM TO KNOW ABOUT AS MUCH AS THE DEALER REGARDING WHAT CAUSES THIS ISSUE TO OCCUR.... WE'RE BASICALLY PUTTING OURSELVES AT RISK ANYTIME WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE.

I AM CONCERNED WITH OVERALL QUALITY CONTROL ON THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW TO PROVIDE SAFETY AND COMFORT FOR MY GROWING FAMILY. I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE VEHICLES PERFORMANCE AND GAS MILEAGE DURING THE FIRST SEVERAL WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR UNITS THAT THEY SAID WHERE DEFECTIVE. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE HEATER/AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER WENT OUT. NEXT WITH LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES. NOW WITH LESS THAN 28.000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR WAS SOAKED, THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING UNUSUAL SOUNDS WHEN TURNING AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY. AT THE DEALERSHIP I FOUND OUT THAT THE RACK AND PINION STEERING UNIT HAD FAILED ALONG WITH THE THE CABLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. ON INVESTIGATION OF THE WATER LEAK THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE PILLAR HAD NOT BEEN SEALED PROPERLY TO THE ROOF CAUSING WATER TO RUN INTO THE VAN AND ROT THE CARPET. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN FOR REPAIRS THE DEALERSHIP IS ALSO REPLACING THE HEATER/AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER WHICH IS MAKING GRINDING SOUNDS AGAIN. *NM

ADDITIONALLY, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR HAS MADE A STRANGE NOISE WHEN THE CHAIN ENGAGES TO OPEN EVER SINCE THE VAN WAS PURCHASED. IT WAS INSPECTED ONCE WITH THE DEALER NOT FINDING ANYTHING WRONG. WITHIN MONTHS THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS WOULD GO UP AND DOWN WHILE UNLOCKING THE DOORS BY THE KEY, WOULD GO UP AND DOWN WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD & WHILE OPENING THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS WHILE INSIDE THE VAN..* * THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP WHILE PULLING OUT ONTO THE ROAD. MY WIFE AND KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY THE APPROACHING FULLY LOADED LOG TRUCK. THE VAN WAS TAKEN TO THE LITHIA IN ROSEBURG & WAS INFORMED OF THE ISSUED. IT WAS INSPECTED AND THE REPLY WAS THAT "THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS & THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET THE DOOR LOCKS TO GO UP AND DOWN. THE VAN WAS TAKEN IN A 2ND TIME ON 07/28/2006 WITH THE SAME ISSUES, AGAIN THEY KEPT THE RIG AND TOLD US THEY COULD NOT GET THE DOOR LOCKS TO DO ANYTHING. ON 04/07/2006 THE VAN WAS TAKEN IN TO LITHIA AFTER KENDALL SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT WORK ON THE VAN BECAUSE OF US BUYING IT FROM LITHIA. SO THE VAN WAS RETURNED TO LITHIA WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS ALONG WITH THE RT REAR BRAKE LIGHT STAYING ..YOU KNOW THE SAD THING IS I STILL OWN 15K ON THIS VAN. THE STEERING ON THE VAN LOCKED UP AGAIN WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE VAN. FINALLY, ON OCTOBER 04, 2006, WITH 29000+ MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AN AXLE BROKE AS MY SON, DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, AND TWO GRANDCHILDREN UNDER TWO YEARS OLD PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO THE ROAD. EXCEPT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE SO AS TO AVOID STORAGE CHARGES, I WILL NOT HAVE ANY MEMBER OF MY FAMILY TRANSPORTED IN THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE STOPS. MOTOR SHUTS OFF, NO POWER AVAILABLE. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VERY DANGEROUS LOSS OF CONTROL IN TRAFFIC! HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES FROM DATE OF PURCHASE MAY 2005 TO AUGUST 2006, BUT ONLY AT START UP IN PARKING LOT. THEN IT HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH 4 CHILDREN IN VAN AGES 1, 2, 8 AND 10 YEARS OLD! HAVE NO FAITH IN SAFETY OF VEHICLE! THIS IS THE LATEST IN A SERIES OF HEADLIGHT FAILURES ON A DODGE G.V. VAN. TODAY, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON WHEN THE SWITCH WAS PULLED UNTIL I CUT IT ON AND OFF 4-5 TIMES. THE DRIVING LIGHTS WOULD BLINK ON-OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE SWITCH WAS OFF FOR THOSE LIGHTS. THEN THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT TOTALLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH AFTER 7 :00 PM....IN THE DARK!! AS I SAID, THIS IS ABOUT THE 3RD-4TH TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED AND IT IS NOT SOMETHING I WANT TO CONTINUE. I HAVE HAD IT TO TWO(2) DEALERS AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. ON JAN 22,05 I HAD MY 05' DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IN THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAD COME ON, THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED MY SENSOR ALONG W/ MY WIRING HARNESS, WELL ON FEB 26 06 MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, THE DEALERSHIP DEAL MAKER SAID I COULD BRING MY CAR IN BUT I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT TO BE CHECKED ALONG W/ ANY REPAIR, AND THIS IS BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I DON'T FEEL I AM RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIR ON THIS. NONE THE LESS FOR THEM TO SUPPOSEDLY REPLACE MY SENSOR LAST YEAR, ALONG W/ MY WIRING HARNESS AND SPARK PLUGS BEAUSE OF MISFIRING ETC. TO HAVE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN NOV OF 04 AND THEN TO HAVE IT IN ON JAN 05 IS A LITTLE RIDICULOUS. I HAVE 40 SOME THOUSAND MILES ON MY CAR. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHTS, DASH BOARD LIGHTS AND DOME LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY FLICKER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES FOR REPAIR. THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, BODY CONTROL MODULE, ALTERNATOR, INSPECTED AND CLEANED THE GROUND CIRCUITS. THESE MODIFICATIONS AND REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. *NM

VEHICLE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH ELECTRICAL ODOR CONSTANTLY APPEARING TO BE BURNING, AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER SHOP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS.*AK PHONE INTERVIEW UPDATE (OCT 24, 2005): THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH AIR BAG FRONTAL IMPACT SENSORS (PART # 4686957AC) ONE AT A TIME. HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STILL COMES ON DURING WET WEATHER CONDITIONS.
