While driving engine was cutting out, stalling, hard to restart. Found the reason was thr TIPM. Found there was a safety recall R09 / NHTSA 15V-115 fuel pump Relay, however this was for other Fiat Chrysler models and not the Dodge Grand Caravan, please help me understand why? The TIPM within this caravan is the same TIPM installed is other Fiat Chrysler models and clearly the same danger concerns. I don't believe I need to tell the NHTSA how scary it was to be driving 65 on a freeway when this occurred putting my life and others around me in danger of possibly losing control of a vehicle. Then learn this same TIPM was part of a large recall, but only on some models and not all. Makes absolutely no sense. I would ask that this prior recall be extended to all models with this TIPM installed as I can only imagine how many others have experienced this; God forbid and accidents were caused. After talking to others and researching and reading reports this seems to be another ghost problem: Driving around town this issue doesn't usually occur but, on a long drive and coming to a stop or near stop such as a traffic light and/or in traffic my van starts to die. Depending on how long I am going to be stopped or slowed down to a crawl I either have to keep one foot on the brake while accelerating or switch to neutral. When switched to neutral I have to keep a foot on the accelerator while switching back into drive. Sometimes turning the ignition off and back on helps, usually not. The danger is the risk of being rear ended or stalling when pulling into traffic.

I bought the car 2 weeks ago with 105k miles on it. The car has died approximately 20 times in the last 2 weeks while I am driving it. It is so insanely dangerous, you will be going down a busy street and the car completely dies without warning. There is no dash lights on, no warning. The power steering goes. It's an accident waiting to happen, it’s unacceptable. After spending 2k at the mechanic and still the same problem. They have now told me I need the TIPM replaced at the dealership. Which also affects the lights, which are erratic, they come on or come off when they want, along with the horn. It’s also pushes the motors into limp mode so it runs really hard over 20 miles an hour even while idle. The car will also die while in idle/park or when you shift gears. The car is basically an all day event to start and if you get it to stay on, if you are able to get it, don’t touch the key or it will automatically the car off. The TIPM system will also stay on, even while car is off causing your battery to drain.

Sounds like a machine gun when trying to start. Have to turn key completely off to get the sound to stop. Not starting sometimes and cutting off when driving. Lost all power on a main highway including my brakes and power steering. Completely shut off. Also the back air AC doesn't work at times. Seems to not have enough power to roll down windows at times and you can only use one window at a time. Battery, alternator, and starter test fine. Replaced relays and still same problem. Throwing code for not reaching coolant temp. Replaced thermostat gasket still throwing code. No other codes or lights showing up. Heard of an ignition switch and power train recall but when I put my vin in it says there are none.

2017 I purchased my car. I had several problems with the key lock and car starting. Immediately tried to return the car but dealer wouldn’t allow it. I have now found out there were 2 recalls in 2017 I was not aware of this until now. Even though dodge has stated to me they were fixed as a consumer if my car was presenting issues so early on after these recalls I should have had a grace period to give the vehicle back if other issues were presented. Currently car is smoking on the drivers side with a heavy burning smell. Car is over heating as well as the car would not stop while I was driving it on8/23/22 in a mall. Car was shutting off a lot. I was under warantiy and took it to AAmco and found out there were transmission issues. My warranty company at the time let my car sitting at AAmco despite the major issue and refused to fix it as well as let my warranty expire. Now I am scared to drive this car concerned the vehicle won’t stop.

MY VAN CRANKS, BUT WON'T START, IT HAPPENS ON AND OFF... IT SEEMS TO BE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT

The TIPM has a built in fuel relay switch which fails sometimes won't allow vehicle to start other times it and stall while driving twice in one trip my vehicle stalled on the highway loss of all power and engine completely shuts off with no power steering or brake assist very scary and wreckless was very fortunate to have avoid multiple accidents the is already a recall associated with this issue on the Dodge Durango and Jeep Cherokee but for some reason the Doge Grand Caravan was left off and it posses a huge safety risk for the people and families that are driving them!

The vehicle engine has stopped running while driving at highway speeds (50-70 mph). I have been able to roll off of the travel portion of the highway, but there was concern with vehicles behind me possibly hitting me. All electrical components continued to operate when this happens, including the radio, lights and AC/Heat blowers. It has happened in December 2020, May 2021 (2 times within about 1 hour), July 2021 (2 times within 2 days), December 2021, and April 2022. In all instances the vehicle has restarted in about 30 minutes. An independent repair shop investigated the issue in July 2021 and was not able to find any codes or to reproduce the engine stopping. Several years prior to these instances the vehicle began to "not start" immediately when the key-fob was turned; it starts after tuning the key on and off several times. The vehicle was inspected by a Chrysler dealer and the dealer could find no codes or reproduce the instance.

The TIPM has failed. It causes the fuel pump to randomly engage and drain the battery. It drained so low the key fob would not work and I needed a locksmith to get inside the vehicle to pop the hood. Our van has been at Lynwood Dodge since February 2022. it took over a month to diagnose and now they can not get the part. The estimate they have given me is around $2,300. That does not count two tows, a locksmith and replacing the fuel pump and a fuel related module around a month prior. The inspection was by the Dodge dealership. To my knowledge no manufacturer representative has checked this vehicle.

The TIPM unit is causing issues for my wife and kids there is a recall on other models with the same part that is causing issues why wouldn’t it be a safety issue for this model as well if it can cause the same safety concern

After many tries, the van wouldn't start. Finally started. Brought it to the mechanic. They said the pressure in the fuel pump would drop 15-20 psi and then raise back to spec. They replaced the fuel pump. Van still wouldn't start. Mechanic tested and found the fuel pump was not getting power from the TIPM control module, due to a faulty fuel pump relay. Mechanic said Dodge had issued an external fuel pump relay part due to the issue occurring in many vehicles, however a safety recall had not been issued. Mechanic installed the part and the van starts now. Seems like the fuel pump issue was known by Dodge and should be covered in a safety recall as the TIPM control module used is faulty. Instead of a safety recall, Dodge issued an external relay part to fix the faulty part, but then didn't cover the cost of it for its customers.

THE TIPM FAILED, THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED WITH A MECHANIC. IT IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. THE CAR'S FUEL PUMP KEEPS RUNNING EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY CAUSE A FIRE AND BURN MY HOUSE DOWN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS ARE RECALLED. I WAS TOLD MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON RECALL. WITH THIS BEING A KNOW PROBLEM, ALL VIN'S SHOULD BE ON RECALL. THIS MAKES YOUR CAR UNUSABLE AND IF THE CAR CUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC, A REAL SAFETY CONCERN.

I was driving and the vehicle stalled out. Could have been hit if someone was right behind me. At first the car would keep turning over trying to start and it would after awhile, then lead to going out to the car and the battery completely drained. I had to replace a whole battery and alternator and it is still draining the battery (fuel pump rely). I don't see why there hasn't been a recall to fix this with as many complaints as there are online.

WHEN TURNING THE KEY OVER TO START THE VEHICLE IT WILL KEEP TURNING OVER BUT NOT CRANK AND IT WILL NOT STOP TURNING OVER UNTIL YOU SWITCH THE KEY IN OFF POSITION. ALSO, AT TIMES THE VAN WILL STALL WHILE RUNING AND SHUT OFF. SO FAR IN PARKED POSITION BUT I AM AFRAID IT COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE FUEL PUMP WILL KEEP RUNING AFTER THE IGNITION HAS BEEN SHUT OFF AND THE KEY TAKEN OUT. THIS RUNS THE BATTERY DEAD AND WILL LEAVE YOU SITTING.

OUR DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WAS STATIONARY AND EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS OVER A PERIOD OF MONTHS AND SOMETIMES WHEN IT DID START, IT WOULD STALL SHORTLY AFTER STARTING WHILE IN MOTION. FINALLY, IT WOULD NOT START AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS, WAITING ARE TRYING AGAIN. WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC WHO TESTED IT AND FOUND THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. HE SAID IT WAS COMMON TO MAY DODGE AND JEEP MODELS. THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME CIRCUIT BOARD. HE RECOMMENDED TAKING IT TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH IT HAD NOT YET BEEN RECALLED. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THEY HAD THE PARTS FOR THE FIX AND FIXED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY PROBLEM. THE REPAIR HAS A 2 YEAR WARRANTY. AN EMPLOYEE OF DEALER EXPRESSED THAT IT MAY BE 3 MONTHS FROM THE OCTOBER 8, 2020 REPAIR, BUT EVENTUALLY CHRYSLER WOULD ISSUE A RECALL SINCE SO MANY MODELS WITH THIS PART HAVE BEEN RECALLED. WE WERE ADVISED TO KEEP THE RECEIPT FOR LATER REIMBURSEMENT. IT IS NOW MARCH 14, 2021 AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE FOR OUR VEHICLE. PLEASE TRY TO EXPEDITE THIS RECALL. BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND TAKEN TO SHOP, THE AUTO TECHNICIAN ASSUMED BASED ON P0128 P0520 P0441 IT WAS GAS FUEL CAP, SWITCH OIL PRESSURE, HOUSING THERMOSTAT, GASKET INTAKE MANIFOLD THEY REPLACED O2 SENSORS VACUUM LINE READ A SENSOR WITH EVAPO SYSTEM CAUSING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A HOST OF OTHER ITEMS CHECKED GAS CAP TOTALED ME $779. CAR REFUSE TO STARTED NEXT MORNINGS FOR PASS TWO WEEKS EVERY MORNING SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START CAR AFTER PARKED OVERNIGHT NO START ONLY STALLING FIRST. THEN WAITED AN HOUR PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL SEE IF CAR STARTS IT DID. AFTER DRIVING THAT DAY WHILE DRIVING CAR ACCELERATION BEGAN TO GO FAST BY ITSELF ON A HIGHWAY THEN JERK RPM DROPPED DOWN WHILE DRIVING MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I THOUGHT MAYBE GEAR WAS OUT OF PLACE SO I LOOKED TO SEE IF IT WAS IN DRIVE, IT WAS IN DRIVE. WENT BACK TO AUTO SHOP THEY SAID SINCE CAR IS WORKING NOW CAN'T HOOK UP SYSTEM TO CHECK P CODES BECAUSE IT WON'T SHOW UP IF IT'S WORKING.TOLD ME DRIVE 60 MILES TO SEE PROB CONTINUE. NEXT MORNING CAR DIDN'T START, NO FUSE SIGNAL SHOWS. THEN CAR WAS DEAD ONE CLICK SOUND ,NO STALL. CALLED ROADSIDE ASSIST AND TRIED TO JUMP BATTERY. GUY SAID IT'S NOT BATTERY HE SAID IT'S THE FUEL PUMP. CONTACTED THE AUTO MECHANIC SPOKE WITH MGR OF SHOP AND SAID IT CAN BE A TIPM AND COST $1200. THIS IS A VERY UNSTABLE AND UNSAFE ISSUE MY FAMILY AND I DRIVE IN THIS VAN DON'T FEEL SAFE 2ND ISSUE CAR HESITATED TO STOP TWO MONTHS AGO WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKES TO STOP CAR WHILE DRIVING ON ROAD TO STOP AT RED LIGHT, NO STOP I HAD TO PUMP BRAKES AND I THOUGHT IT WAS BRAKES I PAID FOR REPLACEMENT OF BRAKES AND PADS AS WELL. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED THE COST OF $1273 FOR THE PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. IT HAS BECOME A MORE FREQUENT EVENT TO INCLUDE BRIEFLY RUNNING THEN SHUTTING DOWN. WTHIN THE LAST WEEK, THE BATTERY HAS DRAINED WITHOUT CASUE- REQUIREING CHARGING. AS OF TODAY, THE FAILURE TO START ISSUE PERSISTS REQUIREING MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THIS HAPPENS ON A COLD START AS WELL AS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING/IS WARMED UP. DDIAGNOSTICS LEAD TO A FAILURE OF THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IN THE TIPM. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE FOR THIS ENGINE/TIPM HOWEVER THE CARAVAN HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AS THE DRUANGO AND JEEP VEHICLES HAVE BEEN. THE FAILURE OF THIS TIPM HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED TO INCLUDE SUDDEN ENGINE SHUTDOWN WHILE IN OPERATION REPRESENTING A SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO THE PUBLIC. BASED ON REVIEWS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS, AN ORDINARY REASONABLE PRUDENT PERSON WOULD BELIEVE THAT THIS TIPM FAILURE IS A IMINENT THREAT TO SAFETY. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO EXPAND THE RECALL AND REPAIR TO ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE SUSPECT TIPM. CURRENTLY, A NON RECALLED VEHICLE WOULD HAVE THE TIPM MODULE REPLCED AT A SIGNIFICANT COST TO THE OWNER OR, A NON DEALERSHIP INSTALLED "RECALL" REPAIR (NEW RELAY) INSTALLED THAT WOULD NEGATE ANY FURTHER/FUTURE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTERS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THE OPTION OF PAYING FOR THE "RECALL" REPAIR WHEN SERVICING A VEHICLE NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. KNOWING THIS TIPM FAILURES POTENTIAL, I WOULD SUGGEST THAT, REGARDLESS OF ANY CLASS ACTIN SETTLEMENT- THE MANUFACTURER BE REQUIRED TO MITIGATE THIS ISSUE AT THE LEAST POSSIBLE EXPENSE TO THE VEHICLE OWNER.

ON 1/6/2020 I STARTED MY VAN AND NOTICED IT SPUTTERED A LITTLE DURING STARTUP. ON MY WAY HOME, I STOPPED AT A STORE TO PICKUP A FEW THINGS. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE VAN AGAIN IT WOULD NOT START. I KNEW IT WASN'T THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE LIGHTS AND RADIO STILL WORKED. WHILE WAITING FOR A FRIEND TO PICK ME UP, I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. DROVE IT ACROSS THE STREET TO O'REILLYS TO HAVE BATTERY TESTED, JUST IN CASE. HAD TO START IT AGAIN. WOULDN'T START AGAIN. WAITED A MINUTE. TRIED AGAIN, IT SPUTTERED, I GAVE IT SOME GAS AND IT STARTED. EMPLOYEE WHO WAS ASSISTING HEARD A WHISTLING NOISE. SUGGESTING A VACUUM LEAK. CALLED MY MECHANIC. SCHEDULED APPT FOR 1/8/2020. TRIED TO START IT THE MORNING ON 1/8/2020. WOULD NOT START. MECHANIC HAD IT TOWED TO SHOP. HIS DIAGNOSIS SHOWED TPIM MODULE HAD FAILED. HE SAID HE SPOKE TO PARTS REP AT THE LITHIA DODGE AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE 14 VANS WITH SAME ISSUE WAITING FOR TPIM MODULES AND THE PART IS BACKORDERED FOR AT LEAST A MONTH. DODGE HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL YET. I HAVE FOUND BLOG POSTS DATING BACK TO 2014 WITH CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND DODGE IS NOT ACCOMMODATING OWNERS WITH ANYTHING. COST OF TPIM MODULE IS $994. LABOR IS $360. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE MY FLEX PLATE REPLACED THE WEEK PRIOR BECAUSE IT CRACKED. MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS DUE TO WEAK STEAL. SERVICE GUY AT DEALERSHIP, JASON SAID (ON 1/9/2020) SAID THIS WAS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THIS PART TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. THIS REPAIR COST ME $789.95. I HAVE INCLUDED PHOTOS OF THE FLEX PLATE. I FEEL LIKE DODGE IS SIMPLY NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE MODELS FAILURES BECAUSE THEY MASS PRODUCED IT AND IF THEY HAD TO ISSUE RECALLS FOR THE FLEX PLATE AND TPIM MODULE, IT WOULD COST THE COMPANY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS, IF NOT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. THE ISSUE AT HAND IS THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LOW SPEEDS (25 MPH), MIDDLE SPEEDS (45 MPH) AND HIGH SPEEDS (65-70 MPH). ALL WARNING LIGHTS ARE DISABLED WHEN THE EVENTS OCCUR, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO WARN OTHER VEHICLES OF THE ISSUES AT HAND, INCREASING THE PROBABILITY OF A CRASH. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO CUTTER DODGE IN HONOLULU ONLY TO HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE BATTERY CABLES WERE LOOSE ($150 SERVICE FEE) AND THAT THE PRIMER THAT IS INCLUDED WITH NEW BATTERIES TO APPLY ON THE BATTERY POSTS WAS SOMETHING THAT THEY'D NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. I CURRENTLY HAVE MY VEHICLE AT A REPAIR SHOP WITH A BATTERY THAT WON'T HOLD A CHARGE BECAUSE THE INTERGRATED POWER MODULE IS MALFUNCTIONING. AS SEEN IS PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS, THIS ISSUE IS ONGOING WITH 2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS. THIS ISSUE PRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. A MONTH BEFORE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULDN'T START, TOWED IT TO MECHANIC AND REPLACED ALTERNATOR. TILL NOW VEHICLE ALWAYS STALLS WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR COMING TO STOP. THIS VEHICLE ACTS LIKE IT HAVE BEEN TAKEN OVER BY SUPERNATURAL FORCES AND WHAT HAPPENED LAST SATURDAY WAS VERY SCARY TO MY FAMILY. I HAVE READ A LOT OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE ABOUT THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS VERY UPSETTING THAT THE MAKER HAVE NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY IN ADDRESSING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT A FUEL ODOR ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY AFTER THE FUEL TANK WAS FILLED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY AND WAS ILL DUE TO THE STRONG ODOR OF FUEL. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A VEHICLE MODIFICATION COMPANY MODIFIED THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A MOBILITY CENTER WAS ALSO MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF CYCLING THE KEY FOB OFF AND ON THE VAN STARTED AGAIN. IT IS FORTUNATE THAT THIS OCCURRED IN A VERY RURAL AREA WITH NO TRAFFIC. THIS IS A 2012 GRAND CARAVAN WITH APPROX. 90K MILES. MY HUSBAND RESEARCHED SIMILAR FAILURES OTHER DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THE GRAND CARAVAN, HE BELIEVES IT IS LIKELY A FAILING FUEL PUMP RELAY. HE READ THAT MANY OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME RELAY SYSTEM HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT APPARENTLY NOT THE GRAND CARAVAN AS WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL.

THREE DIFFERENT TIMES, I TOOK MY 2012 DODGE GRAN CARAVAN TO HAVE THE ENGINE CHECK BECAUSE IT STALLS OUT. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. EVERY TIME ALL CHECK OUT OK PER THE DODGE REPAIR CENTER. TWICE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AT THE TIME OF THE ENGINE STALLING. TWICE NO INDICATION. ENGINE JUST QUIT. IT HAPPENED AGAIN LAST NIGHT (08/30/2017) WHEN MY WIFE WAS COMING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE. SHE WAS IN TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE JUST QUIT. BIG SAFETY ISSUE. THANK GOD THAT SHE WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE BUT IS STATIONARY, EVERYTHING WILL TURN OFF. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOES DOWN AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. AFTER A BRIEF MOMENT (APPROXIMATELY ONE TO TWO SECONDS), THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL COME BACK UP AND ALL ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS COME BACK ON, BUT THE CLOCK ON THE RADIO IS RESET TO 12:00. AT THIS POINT, WE CAN PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS 2017.07.07 AND IT DID IT TWICE WITHIN FIFTEEN MINUTES. WE DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE WHAT IS CAUSING THIS TO OCCUR, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE CONNECTED TO THE MAIN COMPUTER AND/OR THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, AS THIS IS A COMPLETE SYSTEM SHUTDOWN.

MY 2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SHOWED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT 67,000. I CHECKED THE CODE TO FND OUT P0303 IS A ENGINE MISFIRE. COULD BE IGNITION, PLUG, OR VALVE-CYLINDER COMPRESSION. I HAD THE ENGINE SERVICED AND THE LIGHT GOES OUT. THE NEXT DAY THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. I RETURN THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE TO INVESTIGATE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALS THERE IS A BAD COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER 03. I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO DODGE AND THEY COULD HAVE TOLD ME UP FRONT THAT THE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM CHRYSLER. THEY TAKE MY CAR INTO SERVICE AND FIND A LEAK ON CYLINDER 04 ALSO. THEY GONG TO REPLACE THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD BUT NOT THE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD WITH THE SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM. I AM LOOKING AT $3500.00 IF I CHOOSE TO REPLACE THE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD. THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD COVER THE DEFECT NO MATTER WHICH CYLINDER HEAD IS DEFECTED. MY WIFE LOVES THE CAR. SHE WANTS ANOTHER ONE. I TOLD HER THAT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE WE WOULD BE RIGHT BACK HERE IN 4 YEARS WITH ANOTHER 3.6L V6 PENTASTAR ENGINE. I AM TORN. STARTING SEPTEMBER 2016 WE NOTICED OUR LIGHTS WOULD GO ON FOR NO REASON AND OUR DOORS WOULD OPEN ON ITS OWN. WE INITIALLY CHALKED IT UP TO OUR KEY BEING FAULTY AND REPLACED THE BATTERIES, BUT EVERY SO OFTEN IT KEPT HAPPENING. IN OCTOBER OUR BATTERY DIED, WE FIGURED THE LAST TIME WE CHANGED IT WAS WHEN WE ORIGINALLY GOT THE VAN SO MAYBE IT WAS JUST TIME AND REPLACED IT. THEN IN NOVEMBER OUR CAR WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY. IT STARTED WITH HAVE TO CRANK ABOUT 2 TIMES. ESPECIALLY IN THE MORNING AFTER IT SAT UNUSED FOR A COUPLE HOURS, BUT THEN THROUGHOUT THE DAY IT WAS FINE. SOON THOUGH IT TOOK 5 TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD START SO WE TOOK IT INTO TO OUR MECHANIC TO SEE IF THERE WAS AN ISSUE. NOTHING REGISTERED ON THE COMPUTER, WE FIGURED MAYBE OUR FUEL LINES WERE CLOGGED AND WE DID A FLUSH. IT FIXED THE STARTING PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WE COULD HEAR OUR CAR CRANKING, BUT IT WOULD NOT START AND WE WOULD HAVE TO CRANK IT A COUPLE TIMES. THEN WHILE DRIVING OUR CAR JUST STOPPED. EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN, MIND YOU WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL AT ABOUT 45 MPH. THE WHEEL LOCKED AND LUCKILY MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, HE WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE. WE TOWED OUR CAR TO THE MECHANIC WHO SAID NOW THE COMPUTER IS SAYING THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD. SO WE CHANGED THAT. OUR VAN WORKED PERFECTLY...FOR ONE DAY. THE NEXT MORNING IT WOULD CRANK, BUT NOT START. AFTER TOWING TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATED THE NEXT APPOINTMENT WAS IN JANUARY 2017 AND OUR VAN WOULD BE ON STANDBY. WE ARE FORTUNATE WE DID NOT HAVE TO WAIT THAT LONG TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT, BUT NOW THEY STATED WE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE BATTERY...AGAIN! THE PROBLEM WAS OUR TIPM. SUSPECTED TIPM FAILURE CAUSING MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. 1. 9/1/16 FUEL PUMP DIED THEREBY IMMOBILIZING VEHICLE. VERY UNUSUAL FOR A CAR WITH LESS THAN 60K MILES AND NOT YET 5 YRS OLD. REPLACED AT DEALERSHIP, NO REIMBURSEMENT FROM CHRYSLER CORP, TOTAL OUT OF POCKET COST $826. 2. 10/1/16 MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES OCCURRED SIMULTANEOUSLY A) POWER DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER FUNCTION. THEREFORE OVER 20MPH SELF LOCKING DOORS NOT FUNCTIONAL. B) FUEL GAUGE READS COMPLETELY EMPTY BUT TANK IS DEFINITELY FULL. C) PARKING BRAKE LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED ALTHOUGH NOT APPLIED. MY DAUGHTER MADE AN ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE, ONE NIGHT AFTER COMMUNITY THEATER REHEARSAL, TO DRIVE HOME AND FOUND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND SHE HEARD RANDOM RELAYS CHATTERING THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE, HAD THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS MOVE, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS FLICKERED ON/OFF ALONG WITH DISPLAYING ERROR CODES OF: "NO FUSE" AND "NO BUS". THE FUEL PUMP COULD BE HEARD RUNNING, EVEN WITH THE KEY OFF AND SHE SAID THE VAN ACTED LIKE IT WAS POSSESSED. BASED ON ONLINE INFORMATION, I REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, WHICH WAS LISTED AS A TOP CULPRIT IN THE PROBLEM AND THAT SOLVED NOTHING. FURTHER RESEARCH INDICATED THE TIPM UNIT IS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE AND WE FOUND THAT HER MAKE/MODEL OF VEHICLE IS PART OF A LAWSUIT FOR THIS PROBLEM.

I WAS ENTERING ON A BUSY INTERSTATE WHEN MY 2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN R/T GOT TO ABOUT 50+ MPH THE GAS PEDAL KEPT ACCELERATING AND WOULD NOT STOP THE RPM GAGE HIT 6 THE ONLY WAY I GOT IT TO STOP WAS TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND PULL OF THE ROAD THE RMP'S KEPT GOING AS DID THE ENGINE I TURNED THE VAN OFF IN NEUTRAL AND PUT IT IN PARK. WHEN I STARTED THE VAN BACK UP IT INSTANTLY STARTED DOING THE SAME THING IN PARK. I TURNED THE VAN BACK OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE VAN IT SEEMED NORMAL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT DAY ON A SATURDAY THEY CALLED ME MONDAY AND SAID IT HAPPENED WITH THEIR TECHNICIANS DRIVING AND HE REMOVED THE FLOOR MAT THAT HAD BEEN IN THERE FOR 2 AND A HALF YEARS AND IT WAS FINE THEY TOLD ME THE FLOOR MAT GOT STUCK UNDER THE PEDAL! COMMON SENSE SAYS IT WOULD STOP THE PEDAL FROM BEING PUSHED DOWN NOT PULL THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. BUT WHAT DO I KNOW RIGHT!?!?!?! I AM JUST A FEMALE AND MOTHER TO 2 SMALL CHILDREN WHO WERE WITH ME WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT DID THIS AGAIN WITH MY HUSBAND DRIVING ON A 6 LANE ROAD WHEN HE PULLED OUT FROM A STOP. THIS TIME THE FLOOR MAT HAD NOT BEEN THERE. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS MATTER BEFORE A RUN AWAY VEHICLE KILLS SOMEONE! THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED FROM BECAUSE NO CODES COME UP ON DIAGNOSTICS. HOWEVER IF YOU SEARCH THE ISSUE ONLINE IT POINTS TO THE TIPM AND THE FUEL PUMP NOT SHUTTING OFF. THE SAFETY ISSUE OF THIS IS PRETTY SEVERE IF YOU ASK ME. A VEHICLE THAT ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN IS PRETTY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS NOT ONLY FOR MY FAMILY BUT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS WELL! I DO NOT WANT TO JUST GET RID OF THE VEHICLE IT IS THE FIRST BRAND NEW VEHICLE MY FAMILY HAS OWNED AND EVEN PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE HOPES OF KEEPING THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 6 YEARS AND NOW THIS IS NOT A SAFE FAMILY VEHICLE! THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING AND TAPPED THE KEY AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN AGAIN. SAME IGNITION SWITCH RECALLED BE GM? SOMEBODY BETTER FIGURE THIS OUT. THE DEALER DID NOT AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH MY BELIEF THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS THE CULPRIT. I AM AFRAID OF MY WIFE DRIVING THIS CAR. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN TO AN UNEXPERIENCED DRIVER NOT REALIZING THAT STEERING WILL BE DIFFICULT AND ONLY A COUPLE MORE PUMPS LEFT FOR THE POWER BRAKES, IT WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC.
