The vehicle randomly and dangerously stalls while driving at various speeds and locations. The vehicle will not restart until battery is disconnected and then reconnected. It then starts right up and runs fine until the next episode of stalling. This has been addressed by NHTSA campaign # 19V813 recall for bad fuel pump relay but my VIN # has not been included in this recall even though the vehicle is in the same year as the other vans covered under the recall. This is a very dangerous condition that keeps happening even after leaving the van with the Chrysler dealer for a week to diagnose and they say they don't have a definitive fix for it but offered to replace the entire TIPM for $1700 without a guarantee that the problem will be permanently fixed! The faulty fuel pump relay is well known and has been addressed with an external fuel pump relay kit covered by this recall. Please help us get our vehicle covered under this recall as we are retirees on a fixed income and have already spent too much money (close to $1000) trying to fix this known problem. Already replaced the ignition module which was another known possible cause but the problem still remains.
this is the fourth time i am filing a complaint. My 2013 dodge grand caravan completely dies and looses all power going over 50 miles per hour. no warning, no codes appear, nothing. looses all power, power steering, brakes, etc. have to get to side of road, wait 20 minutes, then car will start. this has happened now over 25 times. The latest time i was driving on the expressway and the vehicle behind me almost crashed into me. this continues to be a safety issue and it is unclear as to why dodge is doing nothing about this despite multiple complaints by hundreds of drivers. I have spent $3000 so far trying to fix this to no avail, new battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, TPM relay, new keys, new programming, still happens. case manager from 2023 told me to take to dodge dealer, spent additional $800, but they had no root cause. happened again. case manager told me to take to a different dodge dealer for second opinion. No codes, no root cause, but charged $400 diagnostic fee. When is Dodge going to do something about this? How many complaints are needed? does someone have to get injured? just tell me how to fix it, that is what i and thousands of others this happens to need to know before someone gets killed.
Unknown what causes the issue. I've read it could be the tpim. I was driving down the highway when the insturment cluster stopped working, no speedometer, no gear indicator, gas gauge not working, no dash lights. the wipers turned on and would not turn off lose of both turn signals (I pulled over and checked) thankfully there was not traffic behind me when I was making a turn. Speedometer stopped working. No warning lights, insturments cluster was black. Not sure if my Brake lights were functional I couldn't check as I by myself. This has happened 3 times in the last month and a half. Not sure if the airbags are still functional. This is a major electrical issue.There are numerous forums of this same issue affecting different year/ models of Dodge and Chrysler vehicles.
While driving my van it will randomly shut off, it starts back up right away after I get to a safe location to do so but this is very dangerous. I've taken it to shops and they cannot replicate it and there are no codes on the reader to indicate any issues.

Don't work the wireless switch starin and the key
While driving our key in the ignition will loosen to the left and completely shut off all electrical for the car. The first time this occurred we were driving 55mph on the highway and had to safely steer off of three lanes of traffic with our kids in the backseat, at the time we thought it was a fluke. Now this is happening more frequently. It is the exact same issue listed under recall L25 “the ignition key inadvertently moves into the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.”
this is the third time i am filing a complaint. Driving down the road at aproximately 40 mph and van shuts down. I turned on the hazard lights, coasted to the side of the road, put the van in park, turned the key to the off position waited about 30 seconds then turned key to on and the van starts up and seems to run fine. This is the second time in two days this has happened. No warning, no check engine lights. Very dangerous when driving at any speed when suddenly your vehicle turns itself off. Will contact my mechanic today to see if he has info on this problem. While doing research I have found that this is a problem that has been reported for many years and has been investigated. Wondering why they have not issued a recall for this????
It is unknown at this time what is wrong with the vehicle. The problem started two weeks ago. Initially after driving sustained highway speeds, the van will hesitate to brake when driving through town. When approaching a stop it would stutter to a stop and then stutter to drive again when pressing the gas, the delay was about 2-3 seconds. In two weeks time with approximately 200 miles driven, it started stalling at stops. Once at a traffic light and also at a stop sign. These incidents happened in the same day and since then, it had not been driven due to it being a major safety concern. It has been taken to an auto shop that has run the full diagnostics on it and the computer system is not catching any issues, there are no lights are on the dash. After the engine stalls, it runs if it is turned off and back on again. The brakes, rotors, and tires were replaced when I started noticing that there was an issue with stopping, I figured the problem was that they needed replaced since I have owned the vehicle 2 years and it hadn’t been done since I purchased the van. March 17 was the date it stalled twice and it was the only time the engine stalled in the past two weeks.
While driving on expressways vehicle will suddenly lose all power. making it difficult to get to vehicle off the road. this has occurred 5 times in the past year, most recently 09/192023, all times with adults and children in car. One of the incidents, I was unable to get off road as was in a construction zone with no shoulder, so had to sit in lane with oncoming traffic and was very fortunate not to have been rear ended and hit. This is a major safety issue. No warning lights, no symptoms prior to each occurrence, vehicle just dies. Once completely stopped, try to start vehicle and it just rumbles and then dies. Wait 30 minutes, then vehicle will start up and run normally until next incident. Have taken vehicle to 2 different mechanics with no solution and no diagnosis as there are no engine error codes reported.

The ignition switch is faulty same as the recall for previous years models. Starting the car happens sometimes doesn't will suddenly stall while driving. This has happened many times over the last six months.
Ignition shuts off to accessory mode while driving at highway speeds causing an extreme safety hazard. Vehicle also is reluctant to start. Dealer has diagnosed a faulty Ignition module which is a known issue amongst Dodge grand caravans but the recall does extend beyond 2010 models.

The contact pulled over, turn off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic twice; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the wireless ignition node module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 167,000.

While driving at normal speeds, the van shuts down. This is an obvious safety issue when operating the vehicle. A local dealer inspected the van and reproduced the error. They identified the issue with the ignition starter. There are no warning or alerts prior to the vehicle malfunction. The part number identified as being defective is 68105738AF.
Electrical system-intermittent failure. While driving or idling, the vehicle will randomly shut off. The vehicle has turned off randomly while being driven down the road with little to no warning, even while operating at high speed. When this happens, you are also left without power steering, ABS brakes, fuel pump, and literally anything that operates electrically. Sometimes it will turn right back on without the operator taking any action, but this is not always the case. There have also been times when it is not able to be turned back on for 20+ minutes. When it shuts down, power doors and windows are also inoperable and the side doors and back hatch cannot be opened either by pushbutton or manually, which compounds the risk of a serious collision with that of entrapment. This is especially dangerous given that they are a popular choice for families with children-like mine. My mechanic cited the problem as being the TIPM and said that this problem is endemic with these vans. A cursory internet search confirmed his claims. There are far too many anecdotes of people driving 80mph down the highway and all of a sudden having their vehicle stop operating completely while they are traveling at high speeds. This is a fatal accident (and huge products liability lawsuit) waiting to happen. A recall is absolutely imperative. My vehicle is available for assessment.
The engine stops at any time. It may restart quickly or it may take a couple of hours to start. i had my fuel pump relay replaced, but it continues to stop when ever it wants. the fuel pump stops and then i run out of gas. I have read online of a problem with the TIPM fuel relay going bad. there was a recall in the jeep grand Cherokee and other jeeps, for this same exact occurrence. so, why not for the dodge grand caravan van? i called dodge in LaPorte IN, with this problem and was told that if the TIPM is bad, i will have to pay for it being replaced. If this is a nationwide problem, it needs to be addressed, i was driving thru the city and country when it quits. very little control of brakes and steering. So what is the next step?
The TIPM fuse box under the hood has a malfunction which causes certain components to randomly start and stop working. This has caused the engine to stay running while the ignition is off, has caused the fuel pump to start and stop, has caused the ABS brake system to fail, and causes major component issues with lights and other electrical parts. This has been reported several times to Chrysler and Dodge for this year, but there is no recall or fix available.

The dealer determined that the fuse box and the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) needed to be replaced; however, the replacement parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. I was driving and the vehicle turned off on me while driving. I pulled over it would not start and when I disconnected the battery terminal and reconnected it. The vehicle started again. So I was looking up and took it to the shop and it needs to be a recall on the ignition switch.

In August 2022, my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan began having a hard time starting; the engine would not turn over. It took 2-4 times of inserting the key fob and trying to start the van. I took it to O'Rielly's where they checked the battery. It was bad, so I had it replaced. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, my van began having the same issue. At lunch today, I tried to start the van. It turned over, but immediately died. I took out the key fob and attempted to start the van again. It turned over. Leaving work this afternoon, I had to try 2 times to get the engine to turn over, but it immediately died. The third time it would not turn over. The fourth time, it turned over, so I pressed the gas pedal to keep it from dieing. This evening after the van had cooled down I went out to see if it would start. I tried 6 times and the engine never would turn over. There have also been multiple occasions where the van will idle low while waiting at a stoplight or for a train. I researched recalls and found that there is a P54 recall for the fuel pump relay for 2013 Dodge Grand Caravans, however my VIN is not part of the recall.
Driver's side passenger sliding door is stuck closed. Manual entry and key fob do not work. Also, Passenger side sliding rear door makes loud buzzing noise.
Over the time we have owned this vehicle the sliding side doors have stopped working & then started. Recently both doors lost power completely . I have read that this is a very common problem with these Vans but the doors when power is lost can not be opened at all from the inside making the passengers crawl out the windows, front doors, or back hatch. If this were a fire, wreck, or emergency this would be a death trap. When calling dealerships to attempt to find a fix or help we have been told time and time again that this is a common problem in these vans.
2013 Dodge Grand Caravan, without warning vehicle shuts off. Has been happening since new in 2014. Driving straight down highway, turning street corners, crossing railroad tracks, it has happened in a number of scenarios. Power loss effects steering and braking and has caused dangerous situations on multiple occasions. There are no MIL codes or faults to be found. The vehicle acts as if it was simply turned off and restarted without issue and can carry on as if nothing ever happened. I have found nothing, (I'm a DOT fleet mechanic) and the dealer has found nothing either. Details provided below are for recent event.
The ignition is not responding as it should. I have to turn it more and more often when I should only turn it once. My grave concern is that of my wife and grandkids. When she is driving them to and fro, the car will hesitate to start and the real problem will be when it turns off. If they are all in the car and on the highway it could be a disaster. I had new key pods made and the vendor told me that Jeep uses the same ignition and they have a recall. Please help.
Wireless ignition node module, sometimes won't start, stalls out when driving, brakes and steering not working correctly when stalls.
When driving the vehicle at random times the vehicle will shut off without warning. This becomes very unsafe as you lose all power to everything. Steering, breaks, etc. Took the vehicle to a dealership to have this issue fixed. Parts and labor cost 1500 dollars and did not solve the problem.
Loss of propulsion power while driving. Sounds like the fuel pump is running even after car is turned off. Battery will drain after a couple hours.

December 21, 2021 - Crank, no start was the first issued. Had the battery tested and was told that it was dead and the battery was replaced. Random lights on the dashboard started coming on - (lightning bolt symbol and check engine light). Crank no start continued - throttle body and gasket needed to be cleaned/replaced. All spark plugs needed to be replaced (full tune-up). The thermostat blew and had to be replaced. The accelerator sensor intermittently failed then the whole gas pedal assembly had to be replaced. Crank, no start still occurred. Every few times could get the car to start but then stalled randomly - while driving even. The battery was drained completely during the day while the car was parked and all lights were off. Freezing temperatures outside with a car that couldn't start, or get jumped (with a battery that was only 2 weeks old). The van was then inspected again by a service center. Was told by the center that the TIPM was bad and causing all of these electrical failures/problems. TIPM is now being replaced. Now without a car in the winter (with 2 kids) for 3 weeks while trying to diagnose and wait for parts/repairs, and down over $2600 in repairs.
2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SE vehicle shuts of with out any warning this has been an ongoing problem for over a year now and there are a lot of other dodge caravan owners who are also having the same issue Recently the vehicle shut of on Oct 21,2021 after making a right turn and again on Nov 17,2021 while traveling on a highway at highway speed without any warning the vehicle just shut off fortunately my wife was able to get the vehicle to the side of the road This is the first time this has happened while traveling on a highway and this is becoming extremely dangerous and it is time for Dodge to fix this problem they know about and have been sued in the past for the same issue I have had this vehicle into the dodge dealership and they claim they can not determine the problem although it is a continuing problem documented on several vehicle complaint websites I reported this before on another complaint 11322557 nhtsa investigation #DP140-04 Go to carproblemzoo.com and you will find complaints for this issue as well if you type the problem in a search engine you will see other websites reporting this issue as well I am very concerned about this happening and resulting in a serious accident
Driver side sliding door will not unlock/open. Unable to move the lock. Just stopped working. No warning. Now the electric door lock system makes a squealing sound when the door lock system is used.
Placed vehicle in park and the transmission showed it was in reverse. Tried shifting to another gear and vehicle remained in reverse. Placed in park vehicle started revving up. Turned off vehicle. Vehicle started once after three hours and you could drive it, but as soon as you placed it in park the vehicle revved up to 1500 RPMS. Had to turn off and could never start vehicle again. Two weeks and certified dealers can't find problems. Escalated to FCA for assistance.
My vehicles automatic locks are malfunctioing. Passenger back sliding door does not lock at all. Drivers side sliding back door does not open because its stuck in loxked position. Drivers side window geys stuck open.
THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM REGARDING THE WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE (WIM) PROBLEMS AS THE 2008 - 2012 OF SAME MODELS. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THIS CAR WITH ALL FOUR OF OUR CHILDREN WHILE WE ARE HERE IN GERMANY (ACTIVE DUTY US AIR FORCE) 2017 AND THE ENGINE DIED WITH NO WARNING/INDICATORS. I WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE SO I THOUGH MAYBE SHE HIT THE IGNITION AND IT CUT OUT. AT THAT POINT WE SWAPPED VEHICLES AND I HAVE BEEN USING THIS CAR AS MY PRIMARY VEHICLE FOR DRIVING BACK AND FORTH TO WORK 2017 - 2021. I AM A AIRCRAFT MECHANIC WITH OVER 23 YEARS OF MAINTENANCE EXPERIENCE ON MULTIPLE DIFFERENT AIRFRAMES. I HAVE PERSONALLY WITNESSED THE ENGINE CUTTING OUT WHILE DRIVING NO LESS THAN 20 TIMES SINCE (4/25/2021). I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT THE VAN IN NEUTRAL AND IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE ENGINE (WHILE I AM DRIVING AND THIS HAPPENS). THIS HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS (RESIDENTIAL AREA WITH CHILDREN PLAYING IN STREETS, HIGH SPEEDS (WHILE ON THE AUTOBAHN), DURING TURNS (DRIVING ON HILLY CURVED ROADS LUCKILY I HAVEN'T EXITED THE ROADWAY YET!), BRAKING (AT STOP LIGHTS), WHILE PARALLEL PARKING; POWER BRAKES STOP OPERATING, POWER STEERING STOPS OPERATING, GAS PEDAL STOPS RESPONDING TO INPUT - ALL DUE TO THE ENGINE THAT STOPS OPERATING. WHAT I BELIEVE NOW DUE TO THE WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE GOING FROM ON POSITION TO ACCY A MALFUNCTION WITH IN THE WIM. IT'S LIKE SOMEONE JUST KILLED THE ENGINE, BUT ALL LIGHTS, RADIO, EVERYTHING ELSE ELECTRICAL STILL OPERATES PERFECTLY. MILEAGE 135,000 MILES THERE ARE NO INDICATORS THAT THE ENGINE HAS CEASED TO OPERATE EXCEPT THAT THE RPMS ARE AT 0 (EVEN AT IDLE RPMS SHOULD BE AROUND 1,000 RPMS). NO OTHER INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES. CONNECTED OBD2, NO CODES, I EVEN DRIVE WITH A BLUE DRIVER ATTACHED AND WHEN IT HAS HAPPENED THERE ARE NO CODES RECORDED. THESE CARS ARE HAZARDS ON THE ROADS AND IT IS SHAMEFUL DODGE WILL NOT ADMIT THEIR MISTAKE!

MY DRIVERS SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCKED MANUALLY OR WITH THE KEY FOB OR WITH THE UNLOCK BUTTON IN THE VAN. SO THIS DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. IT'S STUCK SHUT. ALSO WHEN I PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON INSIDE THE VAN AND ON THE FOB IT MAKES A LOUD BUZZING NOISE. THIS HAPPENED LAST EVENING AFTER I HAD LOADED MY KIDS IN THE CAR TO GO HOME AND PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I WAS UNABLE TO GET MY 1 YEAR OLD OUT OF HER CAR SEAT FROM THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZZARD. WHAT IF THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. WE WOULD BE TRAPPED.

DOES NOT START IT HAS TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURE
I CAN BE DRIVING AT 40- 50 MILES AN HOUR AND IT JUST SHUTS DOWN. THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND BRAKE LIGHT SOMETIMES COMES ON. I CAN'T STEER IT. YOU WOULD HAVE TO REPEAT THE STEPS ALL OVER AGAIN AND RESTART THE ENGINE. ANOTHER TIME MY WIFE (LUCKILY NONE OF MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE VAN AT THE TIME) TOOK A LEFT HAND TURN AND MIDWAY THROUGH THE TURN THE ENGINE DIED AND LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE VAN! NO STEERING OR BRAKES! ALMOST SENT THE VAN OFF INTO THE DITCH AND ALMOST ROLLED OVER. NOW THE ENGINE WILL JUST DIE EVEN WHEN IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY. ONCE AGAIN NO WARNING. NO MIL IDENTIFICATION LIGHT COMES ON AND NO CODES THROWN. VAN HAS IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS HAD THE BATTERY, FUEL PUMP, INJECTORS AND COIL PACKS REPLACE. NONE OF WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM. DODGE HAS NO RECALLS FOR THIS VIN IN REGARDS TO RANDOM ENGINE DYING EVEN THOUGH HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS HAVE EXPRESSED THEIR CONCERNS OF THE SAME ISSUES. THIS VAN IS VERY UNSAFE AND DOES NOT BELONG ON THE ROADS LET ALONE HAVING A FAMILY OF 5 TRAVEL IN IT. WE FEEL DODGE IS LITERALLY DODGING THE ISSUE AND THIS IS UNSAFE CONSUMER PRACTICE.

YESTERDAY IT CRANKED UP AND IT TOOK 3 TIMES TO TURN OVER. WHEN I GOT OUT OF WORK IT WOULD CRANK, BUT DIDN'T TURN OVER AT ALL. I HAD TO GET A JUMP AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO AN AUTO SHOP. THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT, CALLED, AND SAID I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY CONCLUDED IT WAS A BAD TIPM MODULE.

THE DELAYED ACTIVATION OF THE AUTO-LOCK COULD ALSO INDICATE A LARGER ISSUE WITH EITHER THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISMS IN GENERAL OR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS THEM. ON THREE OCCASIONS IT HAS STOPPED ACCELERATING ENTIRELY, FORCING MY SON AND I TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, WITHOUT POWER STEERING OR BRAKES, AND WAIT UNTIL IT IS READY TO RESUME ACCELERATION. ADDITIONALLY, DURING THE TIME PERIODS WHEN IT IS EXHIBITING THIS BEHAVIOR, IT ALSO FAILS TO START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON A BUMPY DIRT ROAD IT REPEATEDLY STALLED, BUT WHEN I HELD THE KEY IN PLACE, IT STOPPED STALLING. WE HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT IT AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS. WE REPLACED THE KEY THINKING THAT MIGHT HELP, AND IT SEEMED TO FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT NOW THE PROBLEM IS WORSE THAN EVER, STALLING AT LEAST SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. IN THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE CAR ALMOST ALWAYS WON'T START ON THE INITIAL KEY TURN. I HAVE TO HOLD IT IN START POSITION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS LONGER THAN NORMAL, AND I HAVE TO GIVE IT SOME GAS AND REV THE ENGINE FOR IT TO START. HAVING THE CAR STALL AT ANY POINT WHILE DRIVING IS FRIGHTENING, BUT WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, IT IS TERRIFYING AND HORRIBLY DANGEROUS FOR ME, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME.

THEN, SIX MONTHS LATER THE CAR IS STILL NOT STARTING ACCURATELY AND WAS FIXED AT MY COST. A GROUND WIRE WAS PUT IN FROM THE BATTERY TO THE TRANSMISSION. I WASTOLD THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE TIPM ISSUE BUT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. DODGES PROBLEM-SOLVING DATABASE SHOWED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN OTHER DODGES WITH GROUND WIRE. THIS REPAIR WAS AT MY COST. LASTLY, THE VALVES AND GASKETS AS PART OF THE POWERTRAIN SYSTEM HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. THEY ARE UNDER WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR WAS NO COST TO ME, BUT THEY'VE HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE.

I DROVE TO MY SISTER-IN-LAW'S HOME IN URBANDALE, IOWA (I DROVE APPROX 11 MILES TO HER HOME AFTER THE LIGHT CAME ON) WHERE WE WERE STAYING OVER THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. THEN I DROVE TO AN O'REILLEY AUTO PARTS STORE. THEY CHECKED MY BATTERY, IT WAS OK, EXCEPT THAT IT WAS AT ABOUT 88%. THEY THEN CHECKED THE ALTERNATOR AND IT WAS NOT CHARGING THE BATTERY. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT I COULD DRIVE HOME TO HARLAN, IOWA, A 100 MILE TRIP IF THE BATTERY WERE CHARGED UP FULLY. I WENT BACK TO MY SISTER-IN-LAW'S HOME AND CALLED STEW HANSEN DODGE, WHERE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON 29 AUGUST 2013, AS A NEW VEHICLE WITH 18 MILES ON THE ODOMETER . I TOLD THE PERSON WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE THAT THE "ALTERNATOR" HAD ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING, AND ASKED IF I COULD BRING IT IN. IT WAS SATURDAY 27 MAY 2017 AT ABOUT 1 PM. THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THEY WERE OPEN UNTIL 3:30 PM BUT THEY ONLY DID OIL CHANGES ON WEEKENDS. I WENT BACK TO MY SISTER-IN-LAW'S HOUSE, CHARGED THE BATTERY UP AND DROVE HOME BACK TO HARLAN, IOWA 100 MILES WEST ON MONDAY, 29 MAY 2017. MY MILEAGE NOW AT THIS TIME IS 45540. I DISCOVERED THAT THIS SAME ENGINE WITH THE SAME ALTERNATOR IN "SOME DODGE CHARGERS" HAS THE VERY SAME PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN RECALLED, BUT NO NOTIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN SENT TO OWNERS. RECALL P25 FOR REAR VENT WINDOW SWITCH HAS BEEN OUT FOR SIX MONTHS. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THERE IS STILL NO REPLACEMENT PART. I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER RECALL NUMBER FOR "MORE INFORMATION"...THEY HAD NONE. SIX MONTHS IS AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. WHY IS THERE NO REPLACEMENT PART? WHEN WILL THERE BE A REPLACEMENT PART? THESE ARE SIMPLE QUESTIONS THAT THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER CANNOT OR WILL NOT ANSWER. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND EVEN STOPPED BY, ALSO NO OTHER INFORMATION IN THE MAIL. I REALIZE THAT THE DEALER CAN DISCONNECT THE SWITCH SO THAT THE WINDOWS DO NOT FUNCTION BUT, AS I TOLD THE DEALER, I TRAVEL WITH MY DOGS AND SOMETIMES HAVE TO LEAVE THEM IN THEIR CRATES IN THE VAN OVERNIGHT AT MOTELS (DON'T ALLOW THE IN THE ROOMS) AND THE FEW THAT DO ALLOW DOGS IN ROOMS, CHARGE AN ADDITIONAL FEE. FACT IS-- I NEED TO HAVE PROPER VENTILATION FOR THEM. I PURCHASED THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE VENTILATION THE WINDOWS PROVIDE. MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING WITH OUR DAUGHTER ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE INSTRUMENT LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, RADIO WENT OFF, AND THE CAR BEGAN POWERING DOWN. THANKFULLY SHE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY INTO A PARKING LOT JUST AS IT SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T RESTART. I HAD TO LEAVE WORK EARLY AND MEET HER WITH JUMPER CABLES. IN THE MEANTIME I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW IN OCTOBER OF 2012. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE KINDLY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE WE HAD 42K MILES ON IT THAT IT WAS OUTSIDE OF THE 3/36000 WARRANTY. I EXPRESSED COMPLETE DISGUST WITH THIS BECAUSE WE CONSIDER THIS A NEW (AND OUR DEPENDABLE) VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 20 MONTHS OLD. I MANAGED TO CHARGE THE BATTERY AND LIMP THE CAR HOME. I REMOVED THE ALTERNATOR AND FOUND ONE OF THE SLIP RINGS ALONG WITH ONE BRUSHES COMPLETELY WORN DOWN TO NOTHING. IT'S CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR THAT RESULTED IN A VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION DUE TO LOSS OF POWER AT 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD NO SYMPATHY AND EVEN AFTER BRINGING THE ALTERNATOR INTO THE DEALERSHIP THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD NEED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD "DIAGNOSE" IT AND STILL COULDN'T GUARANTEE A WARRANTIED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED ME TO RE-INSTALL THE FAILED ALTERNATOR AND THEN GET THE CAR TO THEM SOME 30 MILES AWAY IN SOME CHANCE OF THEM COVERING THE COST TO REPLACE IT......SO I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW ALTERNATOR FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AT THE TUNE OF $400 AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE HEADLIGHT SWITCH WIRING SYSTEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHILE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH WAS STILL IN THE OFF POSITION. ANY TIME THE DASH LIGHTS WERE ON, MANY DRIVERS ASSUMED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ON TOO. HOWEVER, THAT WAS NOT THE CASE WITH THE WIRING SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH THE AUTO-ON HEADLIGHT FEATURE. THE CONSUMER'S WIFE DID NOT KNOW THE HEADLIGHTS WERE OFF, BECAUSE THE DASH LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED, SO ASSUMED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ON WITH THE DASH LIGHTS.

OCCURS WHEN ANY BUTTON IN THE CAR, REMOTE, OR MANUAL HANDLE IS USED TO ACTIVATE AUTOMATIC OPENING OF THE DOOR. SYMPTOMS HAVE OCCURRED IN MANY LOCATIONS AND AT ALL CAR GROUND SLOPE ANGLES. PROBLEM BEGAN AFTER THE RECALL POWERTRAIN SOFTWARE UPDATE. CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALER MANY TIMES AND SYMPTOMS HAVE BEEN REPRODUCED AT DEALERSHIP. RE-TRAINING AN AFFECTED DOOR MAY REDUCE SYMPTOMS. A DOOR MODULE WAS REPLACED BUT DID NOT REPAIR PROBLEMS. BECAUSE IT IS RANDOM PASSENGERS ARE UNSUSPECTING. MULTIPLE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED WITH DOORS CLOSING ON PASSENGERS WHO ENTER BEFORE THE DOOR HAS FINISHED OPENING. MULTIPLE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED OF UNBALANCED ADULTS PLACING BABIES INTO CHILD SEATS WHO HAVE LESS THEN ONE INCH CLEARANCE TO THEIR ARM WITH THE DOOR IN THE FULL OPEN POSITION AND HAVE NO TIME TO REACT. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE ADULT MAY LOSE HOLD OF THE BABY. A PARENT PLACING A CHILD IN A CARSEAT MAY HAVE THE DOOR SHUT ON THEIR TORSO. CHILDREN OR FRAIL ADULTS ENTERING OR EXITING THE VEHICLE MAY BE EJECTING INTO OR OUT OF THE CAR AND MAY BE SERIOUSLY INJURED DURING THE FALL.
