MY CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS RECALLS AND I BOUGHT IT USED A FEW MONTHS AGO MY CAR IS A 1993 DODGE INTREPID WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS?CAR WILL RUN FOR 20 MINUTES OR UNTIL SHUT OFF AND THEN DIE FOR 20 MINUTES TO 10 HOURS, NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON DIAGNOSTICS SAY CAR IS FINE EVEN WHEN IT WILL NOT START. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALLS TODAY AS I SOUGHT TO FIND ANSWERS TO THE PROBLEM I HAVE SPENT MORE THAN 500 DOLLARS TO FIX ONLY TO BEGIN AGAIN WITH NO SOLUTION, DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE AGAINST DODGE?PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER CAR,I SAVED FOR MONTHS TO BUY THIS CAR ONLY TO BE IN WORSE SHAPE THAN BEFORE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHICH FORCED THE CONSUMER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *NLM
I HAVE A 1993 DODGE INTREPID 3.3L V6. THE ENGINE WILL STOP RUNNING AT ANY SPEED USUALLY AFTER A BRIEF WARM UP. SOME TIMES THE ENGINE WILL STOP ONLY FOR A MOMENT (LESS THAN 1 SECOND) THEN COME RIGHT BACK ON. WHEN IT QUITS FOR MORE THAN A SECOND, THE IGNITION SWITCH MUST BE TURNED OFF THEN THE CAR CAN BE RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED PROBABLY MORE THAN 100 TIMES OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS. I HAVE TAKEN THE AUTO TO A DEALER AND INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, SPENT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS AND HAVE YET TO BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. ITS VERY UNSETTLING TO BE TRAVELLING AT 65 MPH AND THE ENGINE STOPS!*AK

I PURCHASED A 1993 DODGE INTREPID FROM A USED CAR LOT. 2 DAYS LATER THE CAR STARTED SMOKING WHEN GOING DOWN A HILL. THEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS BEGAN TO STICK I HAVE TO PULL UP ON THE PEDAL TO GET THEM TO GO OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL POPS WHEN GOING AROUND A CURVE. NOW THE CAR SITS AT A REPAIR SHOP NEEDING A TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE DRIVE AND REVERSE GEARS FAILED LEAVING ME WITH A BILL OF 800-2000 TO REPAIR IT. I BELIEVE IF THE MANUFACTURERS WOULD'VE DONE THEIR JOB RIGHT IN THE BEGINNING ALOT MORE PEOPLE WOULD BE PROUD TO OWN A DODGE! *NLM

WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS CHECKING THE OIL HE ACCIDENTALLY STUCK THE DIP STICK NOT IN THE TUBE BUT ALONG SIDE WHERE THERE IS A GAP OPENING AND CONTACTED AN ELECTRICAL LINE WHICH CAUSED A SPARK, THIS MAYBE A DESIGN PROBLEM WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN FIRE. *MJS

INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO START OR SUDDENLY DIES WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ANY SPEED. INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS FLASH ERRATICALLY/DON'T COME ON. CAN USUALLY START AFTER 3-8 TRIES. OFTEN LEAVES INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ON AND FUEL INDICATOR ON EMPTY EVEN WHEN TANK IS FULL.

WHILE DRIVING WITH CHILD IN VEHICLE IT JUST STALLED, AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE, AND NOT HIT ANYTHING. DEALER CONTACTED, BUT COULDN'T DO REPAIRS UNTIL 3-3-2000. *AK
WE ALSO EXPERIENCED A TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHICH WAS REBUILT AT 80,000 MILES IN 09/15/1995, THE PAINT IS PEELING, THE BLACK WINDOW PANELS ARE PEALING AND WHEN THE FAN IS STARTED A KNOCKING SOUND COMES FROM THE RIGHT FRONT BLOWER. DO WE HAVE A LEMON? WE HAVE TALKED TO THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS SEEM EXTENSIVE. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR IS AT THE DEARLER WITH THE HEAD GASKET PROBLEM (AFTER PAYING $118 WHEN IT FIRST OVERHEATED THE DAY AFTER PICKING THE CAR UP FROM OVERHEATING WHEN THE DEALER SAID THAT A THERMOSTAT WAS THE PROBLEM). CONSUMER NOTICED A LEAK COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE, AND LEAKED INTO THE GARAGE OF THE CONSUMER'S HOME. *AK
WHEN TRYING TO START VEHICLE IT WON'T START AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE ON. CONSUMER HAD THE WATER PUMP REPLACED THREE TIMES, AND THE TIMING BELT REPLACED THREE TIMES DUE TO THE WATER PUMP BUSTING. CONSUMER NOTICED A LEAK COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE, AND LEAKED INTO THE GARAGE OF THE CONSUMER'S HOME. *AK

WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. WE HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND ARE NOW EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE EXTERIOR PAINT CORODING, THE CONSTANT SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE CAR, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR-BAG IS BUCKLING, THE CUP HOLDERS HAVE BROKEN, AND THE LIST GOES ON!
WHEN GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE AND WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMER CAN SMELL GAS FUMES GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE. DEALER CAN'T FIX THE VEHICLE UNTIL TEN DAYS FROM NOW. CONSUMER STATES IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM DRIVING AROUND WITH GAS FUMES GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE CONSUMER VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL AND DIDN'T GIVE ANY WARNING AND JUST SHUT DOWN. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THEY SAID THERE WASN'T ANY PROBLEM. *AK
FRONT CROSS MEMBER FAILED. CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SHIFT SUDDENLY, WHICH CAUSED THE RIGHT FRONT AXEL TO SNAP, WHICH, IN TURN DESTROYED THE RIGHT FRONT SUSPENSION - ALL IN APPROX. 1 SECOND. THIS ALL OCCURED WHILE BACKING UP AT APPROX. 1 MPH.
EXHAUST SYSTEM LOUD DUE TO MISSING BOLTS.
WATER PUMP FAILED, TIMING BELT AND TENSIONER FAILED, ALTERNATOR BELT FAILED.

CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILED ONE DAY AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROL FAILED WHILE VEHICLE BEING OPERATED AT 30 MPH, CAUSING STALLING AND BUCKING. ALSO, TIMING BELT PULLEY BROKE WHILE VEHICLE IN OPERATION, SPEED 80 MPH, VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. *AK

HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER & INFORMED THAT "O" RING ON AIR CONDITIONER HAD CORRODED & NEEDED REPLACING. THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD BROKE WHEN THE ROCKER SHAFT BOLTED & ROCKER SHAFT IS CRACKED. *AK
CATASTROPHIC WATER PUMP LOCK FAILURE, LEADING TO SERPENTINE BELT STOPPING , DESTRUCTING ENGINE AND DAMAGING TRANSMISSION. *AK
