On [XXX] around [XXX] I was driving 25mph in Alameda CA, and about two minutes into the ride, the airbag warning light came on. My fiance was in the passenger seat and our dog was in the back. About 15 minutes into the drive, my side airbags deployed without any collision or even bump in the road. I carefully and swiftly turned onto a side street and pulled over. My fiancé and I got out of the car, and as we took our dog out of the back seat, the primary airbags (steering wheel and passenger seat) deployed, and shattered the windshield. The dashboard was cracked as a result of the primary bags deploying. My fiancé's arm was bruised from the side airbag deploying (photo evidence taken). We called the police and they came to document the incident and confirmed that there was no collision (police report included). Vehicle was then towed home and is available for inspection. We've tried calling the dealership that the car was purchased, but it seems to be out of business. 1. Component that malfunctioned: Airbag and Indicator lights; available for inspection 2. Safety: This incident easily could've led us to crash teh vehicle and harm ourselves and others in the process, and much more seriously hurt us if we did not evacuate the car. My fiancé's arm is bruised. 3. No so far, we cannot get a hold of a dealer since ours was closed - but welcome an investigation 4. Yes, by police. The vehicle keep locking and unlocking by itself even when I am driving. Also when I was driving the airbags deployed on its own but no accident

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle failed to start-up. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V373000 (Electrical System, Air Bags). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

The rear end is going out fuel system is causing a misfire number six and the airbag light is on we have had more problems with it with the power steering starting it when it's cold and it rupturing the hose plus the wiring and the door front door there's wires broke supposedly fixed in 2011 but are broke again every recall if you type in 09 Dodge journey is what's going wrong with mine right now but there's supposedly no recall on it

I have power door locks not working except manually or driver door by key. Key fob and door module for locks will not function. I cannot open the hatch due to power lock function. The Airbag light comes on when vehicle is started and the door is open and only disappears after the door is closed, engine shut off then restarted. Also the engine light came on for awhile then off and is now back on. This is what code scan report says. Engine and Transmission are P0420 Catalyst Efficiency (Bank1), OBDll Codes ($03) is Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1. The Airbag is U0172 Lost Commuication w/Left Side Satellite Accelerator Sensor 1- Stored. The Door Module- Front Right (DMFR) is B16A5 Passenger Window Switch Backlighting Circuit High-Stored. Not sure exactly what these all mean but I think the Power Locks are a safety issue along with the Airbags. The power locks don't lock after driving it like they used to after driving so many feet.

The gear will not shift unless I press the release button. After I took it for a recall in Route 18 Dodge dealer East Brunswick NJ, it came back without been able to shift. I asked the mechanic why my car is no moving, they said you have to press the release button and shift gears at the same. I told them I didn’t bring my car in like this. After I spoke to “Mike” the manager, he said it was a matter of time. I’m scare for my life when driving because now is making all these sounds on the transmission.

NOW ALL OF THE WIRING IS ACTING LIKE IT IS MESSED UP. THE BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON, THE CAR RANDOMLY WON'T START, THE OVERHEAD LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE RIGHT BLINKER IS USED. THE ALARM WAS ON PANIC MODE TWICE AND THE LIGHT'S WAS AGAING TURN ON/TURN OFF (OFF). THE BATTERIE, EVERY TIME THAT I TRY TO TURN ON THE VEHICULE I NEED A BOOSTER TO CHARGE IT AGAIN. THE MECHANICS SAYS THAT THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERIE ARE IN GOOD CONDITIONS HAS THE VOLTAGE THAT NEEDS TO BE OPERATING. I PUT A NEW BATTERIE BUT THE PROBLEM PERSIST. I AM NOT REPORTING AN ACCIDENT ... YET. I WAS DRIVING ON RESIDENTIAL STREET ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN THE "AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT" CAME ON. THEREAFTER IT CAME ON EACH TIME I STARTED MY CAR AND STARTED TO DRIVE. CONTACTED NEAREST DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL ( 09V118000), ALTHOUGH THE RECALL NAMED 2009 DODGE JOURNEYS. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY TO HAVE IT CHECKED! I THEN CALLED CHRYSLER CORP AND SPOKE WITH A REP WHO ALSO STATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SINCE I NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF ISSUE BEFORE WITH ANY OF THE APPROX. 7 VEHICLES I HAVE PURCHASED OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS. I DRIVE TO CALIFORNIA AT LEAST 3 TIMES EACH YEAR AND VARIOUS LOCATIONS WITHIN THE STATE OF ARIZONA. MY AIRBAG LIGHT AND THROTTLE LIGHT WERE ON AS WELL AS THE ENGINE LIGHT. I CONTACTED SERVICE REPAIR DEPARTMENT, MD WHERE I PURCHASE THE VEHICLE. 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. I WAS ADVISED THIS WAS DUE TO A RECALL REPAIR THAT NEEDED TO TAKE PLACE. TO BRING THE CAR IN (MARCH, 2011) AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR - THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT OUT - BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE THROTTLE LIGHT STAYED ON. I WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY AND POSSIBLY WAS CONNECTED WITH THE RECALL. IT HAS BEEN SEVEN (7) TIMES GOING BACK AND FORTH TO GET THIS REPAIR. AT THE TIME OF THIS WRITING - MY JOURNEY IS BACK WITH THEM AGAIN. NOT ONLY HAVE I HAD TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK TO BRING THE CAR IN TO THEM. IT HAS BEEN AN INCONVENIENCE GOING BACK AND FORTH. APPARENTLY, AFTER THE 2ND TIME - SOMEONE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, AND THE ORIGINAL SERVICE ASSOCIATE AND STILL HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK. THERE IS A LACK OF GENUINE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SOME SERVICE PARTNERS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO STAY CALM WHEN DEALING WITH A SITUATION LIKE THIS. I FEEL I HAVE BEEN TAKEN FOR GRANTED AND I IT HAS BEEN A TREMENDOUS INCONVENIENCE IN ADJUSTING OUR WORK, VACATION AND TRAVEL SCHEDULES. THEY HAVE FINALLY GIVEN US A RENTAL AFTER 7 TIMES AND TOLD US THAT THEY PURCHASED A BRAND NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM TO HELP FIX THE SITUATION. IT SOUNDS FAR FETCH THAT A BRAND NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM WOULD BE PURCHASED TO FIX ONE VEHICLE. WE FEEL LIKE WE ARE BEING LIED TO AND WANT THE VEHICLE REPLACED. PURCHASE A DODGE JOURNEY 2009. I INFORM THE DEALER THAT THE WINDOWS WERE NOT COMING DOWN AS THEY SHOULD. DIDN'T GET FIXED. THE KEYLESS REMOTE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE WITH THE CAR IT WASN'T, THEY INSTALLED A AFTER MARKET KEYLESS REMOTE, DON'T WORK CORRECT. THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING AND COULD HEAR AIR WITHIN THE CAR WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG AND IT WAS NORMAL. IT HAS BEEN 4 TO 5 MONTHS LATER NOW ITS NOT STARTING . CONTACT CHRSYLER LLC , TOLD ME I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A DEALER , GET DIAGNOSE , GET IT FIXED AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT ALL AND THEY WILL REIMBURSE HALF FOR THE PART , LABOR IS ALL ON ME. THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS NO START PROBLEM 3 TIMES IN 2 AND HALF DAYS. ALSO NOTICE THAT THE STEERING COLUMN GETS HOT FOR SOME UNFORESEEN REASON . INFORM THE DEALER I PURCHASE MY JOURNEY FROM , I WAS TOLD THAT IS NORMAL. STILL HAVE THE JOURNEY CAN'T TRADE IN BACK BECAUSE I HAVE NO MONEY , SO I AM STUCK WITH IT . HAVING IT TOWED TO DEALER TO GET PROBLEM LOOKED AT AND ALL EXPENSE IS ON ME. WHAT DO I DO . I THINK CHRSYLER WILL NOT REPAY ME. I WAS SITTING STOPPED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON 06.17.2008 ON HWY 270. A TRUCK TRAVELING AT APPROX 60 MPH HIT THE REAR OF THE JOURNEY . THE TRUCK REMAINED CONNECTED AND PUSHED THE JOURNEY FORWARD INTO 3 ADDITIONAL CARS AND ONE PICKUP TRUCK. MOST VEHICLES SUFFERED HEAVY DAMAGE AND ME AND TWO OTHERS WERE TRANSPORTED TO EMERGENCY ROOMS. THE POLICE REPORT INDICATED 86' OF SKID MARKS AND THE TRUCK DRIVER WAS TICKETED + ASSIGNED 100% BLAME. MY INJURIES INCLUDED CHEST COMPRESSION, BRIEFLY BLACKED-OUT, HEAVY BRUISING FROM THE LEFT SHOULDER TO THE LEFT KNEE, STRAINED NECK AND NERVE DAMAGE. PRE-ACCIDENT I WAS IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND WEARING THE SEAT BELT/SHOULDER HARNESS. POST ACCIDENT MY UPPER BODY WAS AGAINST THE DRIVER DOOR WITH THE STEERING WHEEL COMPRESSED AGAINST MY CHEST. THE FRONT AND SIDE JOURNEY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE LAP AND SHOULDER BELT DID NOT PREVENT ME FROM BEING THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND OUT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. I DID NOT HAVE SEAT BELT BURN MARKS THAT MAY BE EXPECTED FROM A HIGH SPEED MULTIPLE IMPACT ACCIDENT OF THIS KIND. ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2009, MY WIFE AND I WERE HEADED EAST ON HIGHWAY 19 OUTSIDE CHEROKEE, NC. A DUI DRIVER CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND HIT OUR 2009 DODGE JOURNEY HEADON AND CAUSED US TO ROLL OVER AND COME TO REST UPRIGHT. OUR FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED.
