It all started with no starts and had starter replaced and then charging problem had new battery and alternator replaced . Then driving to work all the dashboard lights lit up like a Christmas tree and died a couple of times once in the middle of the road . Even when the car was in park and key out of the ignition the lights on dashboard would light up , like the car never totally shut off?Replaced ecm afterwards thinking that was the problem but wasn’t the case (I still have the original ecm unit ) and still there was a battery drain , driving it and the lights lit up the dashboard and stalled out . You can here a buzzing sound after the car if off and key is removed ?

I have been stranded in this vehicle to many times to count. Mostly I had to get a jump to get it back home or keep it running until I returned home. Within the last 30 days I have installed a new alternator and starter. Walmart has installed 4 new batteries due to it being under warranty. So as of today I can't start my car. All the interior lights come on and radio but won't turn over. I tried to get a jump 3 times but still nothing. I am disabled and can't get on public transportation or barely walk up stairs. I'm at zero income and awaiting approval from SSI. So I need someone to assist with this nightmare please. I honestly don't know what else to do

Unknown. This vehicle is great if it would stay running. I drive it about 15 min than it just shuts off and won't restart until it cools down . I've had it checked and replaced camshaft and crankshaft and the throttle potionsensor and it continues to shut off while driving. It's very irritating it could cause a accident and also leave someone stranded. No codes pop up anymore but it still has that problem

May 1, 2023 Fire

While driving my engine caught on fire. My safety was put at risk because I had to pull over and get out the car. Flames started coming from the hood of the car. I just dropped my newborn baby off 10 minutes prior and was around the corner from picking up my other child. I had to call 911 and wait for the fire department to come. I tried to put it out myself but the fire was too great and I was afraid it would explode. My check engine light was on but I was told it was for an old misfire. I haven’t not had any issues with my vehicle, I drive it to work everyday. Vehicle has not been inspected by insurance as I do not currently have active insurance on vehicle. Chrysler customer service states because vehicle is 13 years old they are not liable. No dodge dealership will look at vehicle because it will be difficult to find issue alas the vehicle is totaled. There is a recall R32 starting in 2011 for this model. My engine although made in 2010 is the same engine in the recall. 2.4 liter 4 cylinder.

There is a lighting bolt that repeatedly pops up on dashboard and the car cuts off immediately in mid drive !! I have been to the dealership spent $3200 plus and it just keeps coming back on . Also all the lights flicker on and off while driving or when you hit the turning signals this is ridiculous!! It’s 2022, these issues should had been recalled !!! This is horrible and unsafe especially when driving with children!

Drove to the park, parked the car. Went for a walk, came back 20 minutes later, car would not start. Turn the key, no sound, all dash light come one, car will not crank, no sound at all. towed the car to my house, and charged battery for a full day. Car same issue, will not crank, no noise. I turn the key to on, press on the brake and move to neutral, and car still no start. I use the remote starter, and car just clicks a few times and does not start. Basically turning the key to start, lights come on as usual, then no noise no crank no start. this is third day of trying to start this car, never had issues with it for over a year, and never with starting car. No warnings at all, no lights on to show anything bad before this, and no warning after it happened, scanner show no faulty codes detected. From the park waited to be towed and got home after 10 PM, safety, it got dark, it rained and unreliable to just not start.

Vehicle loses power while driving. Sometimes it will not start being stranded with kids as this vehicle was produced as a family car. Had battery, alternator, starter replaced. Have read numerous reports from google about vehicle not starting due to safety security features, problems with the fuse box, needing a yellow wire grounded that is located under the hood, and so on. If this is a know issue with these vehicles for over 10yrs why has it not been recalled to be fixed. As I drive the vehicle on the freeway with MY KIDS in it endaragering our lives and the many others who are on the road with me and the countless other dodge journey drivers. FIX THIS ISSUE. MAKE DODGE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR MISTAKE AS THEY KNOW WHAT THEY DID.

ON 06/05 CAR WOULD NOT START AT BIG LOTS STORE THOUGHT BATTERY HAD DIED AND STARTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING JUMPED WHICH HAPPENS OFTEN IF LEAVING A LIGHT ON OR DOOR SLIGHTLY AJAR SO WENT TO WALMART NEXT AND LEFT CAR RUNNING TO MAKE SURE WOULD NOT NEED TO GET JUMPED AFTERWARDS AND WHEN I CAME OUT OF STORE CAR WAS NO LONGER RUNNING. A WALMART ASSOCIATE CAME OUT TO JUMP CAR FOR ME AND AFTER CAR STARTED IT WENT DEAD AGAIN AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF STARTED. I WENT INSIDE AND BOUGHT A BATTERY IN CASE I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY HOWEVER IT TURNED OUT TO NOT BE THE CASE AFTER BEING AT WALMART FOR 3 HOURS TRYING TO GET CAR TO STAY ON LONG ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF PARKING LOT I WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME FOR IT TO SHUT OFF AGAIN. I TESTED IT OUT THE FOLLOWING DAY AND ONLY MADE IT TO THE END IF THE BLOCK AND IT SHUT OFF ON ME AGAIN. I STAYED AT THE END OF THE STREET FOR AN HOUR UNTIL MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET IT GOING LONG ENOUGH TO GET IT BACK HOME AND HAS REMAINED THERE UNTIL I GET THIS ISSUE SOLVED. HORN BLEW INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST WHEN SHUTTING DOORS, AND OCCASIONALLY FOR NO REASON. WINDOWS WOULD GO DOWN PART WAY WHEN DOORS WERE SHUT. IGNITION WOULD SOMETIMES JUST CLICK CLICK WHEN KEY IS TURNED, WIPERS WOULD MOVE WHEN NOT ENGAGED TO BE ON. BATTERY WOULD GO COMPLEXLY DEAD FOR NO REASON AND THEN BE OK FOR A MONTH OR TWO AND THEN DO IT AGAIN. HAD TO DISCONNECT THE HORN A FEW YEARS AGO AS IT WOULD NOT STOP GOING OFF. HAS BEEN IN TO KAYER CHRYSLER, DODGE SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ISSUE. THEY JUST CALLED AND SAID THEY FOUNSD. SHORT IN THE MAIN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT AND IT WILL COST $1100PLUS FOR PART AND UP TO $200 TO INSTALL. WE HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. OH YEH HEAT AND AIR ON PASSENGER SIDE QUIT WORKING A FEW WINTERS AGO, AND THE DOORS FILL WITH WATER IN EVERY RAIN STORM. PARK ON A HILL AFTER A RAIN AND DOORS WILL DRAIN FOR HOURS. WE HAVE FRIENDS THAT HAVE BOUGHT JOURNEYS AND SAY THEY HAVE NO PROBLEMS REALLY. CAN'T BELIEVE THERE S NOT A RECALL FOR SUCH A MESS. FIRST MAJOR PROBLEM IS CAR STARTS WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT, HAD TO REPLACE STARTER ($520) IN THE FIRST WEEK THAT I OWNED THE VEHICLE AFTER GETTING A JUMP SEVERAL TIMES I PURCHASED I JUMP KIT ($125)IN CASE IT WOULDNT START AND THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND THEN THE JUMP KIT WOULDNT EVEN WORK. SO I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED ($130) AND THE STARTER REPLACED. IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TRY TO START IT AGAIN 10 MINS LATER IT WONT START BUT IF YOU WAIT ABOUT AN HOUR, IT WILL START. THIS STILL HAPPENS AFTER HAVING THE STARTER REPLACED SO I HAVE TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING OR RISK BEING STRANDED FOR AN HOUR OR SO. SECOND PROBLEM, ABOUT A MONTH AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS USING THE CRUISE CONTROL, WAS GOING DOWN A HILL AND THE RPMS WENT ALL THE WAY UP INTO THE RED AND HIGH AS IT COULD THEN WENT DOWN TO ZERO AND THE ENGINE COMPLETLY STALLED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. SINCE THEN I HAVEN'T USED THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIRDLY, THE PASSANGER SIDE HAS ZERO HEAT. THE DEFROSTER, THE HEAT VENTS ON THE DASH AND THE HEAT VENTS AT THE FEET ALL BLOW OUT COLD AIR. FOURTH PROBLEM, THE HORN WOULD HONK RANDOMLY, WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED. 5TH PROBLEM THE KEY FOB DOES WHAT IT WANTS WHEN IT WANTS. CAME OUT OF THE MALL AND MY ALARM WAS GOING OFF (JUST THE LIGHTS I HAD TO REMOVE THE HORN FUSES BECAUSE OF THE HONKING ISSUE) AND COULD NOT TURN THE ALARM OFF OR UNLOCK THE DOORS WITH THE FOB, HAD TO USE THE ACTUAL KEY FROM INSIDE THE FOB TO GET IN THE CAR AND THEN START IT, SHUT IF OFF THEN I WAS ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE ALARM. 6TH PROBLEM THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY UNLOCK WHEN I'M NOT EVEN HOLDING THE KEY FOB AND THE FRONT WINDOWS WILL ROLL DOWN HALF WAY. THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT ISSUES SINCE I BOUGHT IT DODGE NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE THERE ARE SO MANY SAFETY ISSUES! BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE I WANTED A SAFE VEHICLE FOR MY FAMILY AND THIS CAR HAD BEEN ANYTHING BUT!

THE CONTACT MANAGED TO PULL INTO A FUEL STATION WHERE THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED IN 2016 AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. IN 2017, THE VEHICLE TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START. THE FAILURE RECURRED IN 2018 AND THE REMOTE START KEY DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN TUCSON, ARIZONA WHERE THE REMOTE START KEY WAS REPLACED. MOST RECENTLY, AFTER PUMPING FUEL AT THE FUEL STATION, THE VEHICLE DID NOT START. THE CONTACT WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

AFTER PARKING IT WILL NOT START, THERE IS POWER GOING TO THE VEHICLE, IT JUST WON'T START. HAVE HAD BATTERY CHANGED, STARTER CHECKED AND ALTERNATOR CHECKED...ALL IN GOOD CONDITION. IT SEEMS TO HAVE THE MECHANICS STUMPED AS TO WHAT TO DO IN ORDER TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS. IT HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR SOME TIME NOW, AND AFTER RESEARCHING OTHER 2010 DODGE JOURNEY PROBLEMS, IT SEEMS THAT THIS ISSUE WITH HONKING AND NOT STARTING IS A HUGE ISSUE. THERE ARE VIDEOS ALL OVER YOUTUBE AND COMMENTS IN CAR FORUMS TALKING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS AND DODGE MECHANICS HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT TO DO, WHILE THE DODGE COMPANY SIMPLY DOES NOT CARE THAT THESE CARS NOT AS RELIABLE AS THEY SHOULD BE.

OTHER WORK DONE ,REPLACED CV JOINTS, LOUD CLICKING WHEN SHARP TURNS WERE MADE AND SHOCKS AND STRUTS REPLACED. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AS IT DID BEFORE ALTERNATOR WAS FIXED. A WEEK AFTER PURCHASE CONSTANT SHAKE IN STEERING WHEEL, BRAKES AND ROTORS CHANGED ALREADY, CONSTANT BATTLE WITH GETTING IT STARTED, WILL CLICK AND RADIO, LIGHTS , AND ALL WORK. SOMETIMES 5 MINUTES SOMETIMES AN HOUR BEFORE IT WILL START. BATTERY TESTER, ALT, AND STARTER CHECKED. ALL CLEAR, THEN TO ADD TO ASK IF THAT IT ALL OF THE SUDDEN STARTS OVER HEATING ABOUT 10 MINUTES UP THE ROAD. REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT, FLUSH THE LINES AND IT STOP OVER HEATS. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX ANY OF THIS AT THE SAME TIME! I HAVE 4 KIDS I NEED MY VEHICLE FIXED AND SAFE FOR THE ROAD ASAP.

MY 2010 DODGE JOURNEY'S ENGINE STALLS AND I HAVE NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES WHILE I AM DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED FIRST IN NOV. 2015 WITH AROUND 68000 MILES ON VEHICLE AND THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE OR CAUSED BY BAD WEATHER. IT STARTED TO HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES AGAIN MARCH/APRIL 2016. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. TOOK IT BACK IN TO DEALERSHIP IN JUNE 2016, STILL COULD NOT FIND ISSUE. CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AND TOOK IT IN SEPTEMBER FOR THAT AND OTHER ISSUES (HORN GOING OFF RANDOMLY AND BATTERY DRAINING OVERNIGHT). NOW DEC 2016 AND THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING 3 TIMES THIS WEEK AND THE LAST TIME SOMEONE ALMOST REAR ENDED ME BECAUSE OF IT. MY LIFE AND MY CHILDREN'S LIFE ARE AT STAKE. IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN I AM GOING UNDER 45MPH AT THIS POINT AND ON SOME OCCASIONS IT IS WHILE I AM SLOWING DOWN TO TURN IN A PARKING SPACE BUT SOMETIMES IT IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD DRIVING. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO RECUR. WHEN VEHICLE WON'T START, JUMPING IT WON'T HELP. WE HAVE TO JUST TRY OVER AND OVER AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT STARTS AFTER A FEW TRIES, SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO WAIT 20-30 MINUTES BEFORE ENGINE FINALLY STARTS. ONE INSTANCE, THE VEHICLE DIDN'T START FOR AN HOUR. THE LAST COMMUNICATION WITH THE DEALER, AFTER HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS, WAS THAT THEY CAN'T FIX IT BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG. REPLACED BATTERY THINKING IT WAS BATTERY ISSUE. ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS "DEAD" EVERY FEW DAYS. THERE IS A STRANGE DRAG/CLICK SOUND WHEN TURNING WHEEL. MANY OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT ARE BIZARRE AND COMPLETELY RANDOM. AT TIMES YOU HAVE TO START, KILL, RESTART ENGINE AND FINALLY WILL GO IN GEAR. I KEEP CHECKING FOR RECALLS AS THIS APPEARS, THROUGH MULTIPLE POSTS I HAVE READ, TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL. WHEN I REENTERED VEHICLE TO TRY THE KEY AGAIN IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT THE GEAR LEVER. THE VEHICLE WAS AT A CLIENTS LOCATION SO I DROVE IT HOME AND PARKED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY WHERE IT CONTINUED TO RUN FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WHEN I REMOVED THE KEY. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO PREMIER OF CAPE COD THE ONLY DODGE DEALER ON CAPE COD. I WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ELECTRONIC COMPUTER MODULE. TO REPLACE THE MODULE WITH 2 NEW KEYS THE COST WOULD BE $1,038.00 INSTALLED. I SUBMITTED A SAFETY CLAIM WITH THE CHRYSLER/DODGE REGIONAL OFFICE AND WAS DENIED. I WAS OFFERED A YEAR OF FREE OIL CHANGES AND NO REIMBURSEMENT AS VEHICLE WARRANTY WAS OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS A 2010 WITH 74,470 MILES. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS COULD VERY WELL BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE AS VEHICLE KEPT RUNNING AND COULD NOT BE SECURED. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED A RECALL AS UPON INVESTIGATING FURTHER THIS MODEL AND YEAR HAD A HISTORY OF THIS ISSUE. A $1,038.00 REPAIR FOR A COMPUTER MODULE IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE ISSUE/REPAIR.

I WAS STRUCK ON THE LEFT FRONT BY A 1997 DODGE STRATUS OCCUPIED BY 5 TEENAGE BOYS. THE DAMAGE WAS BUMPER AND LEFT FENDER (INSURANCE ESTIMATE ABOUT $3,000. BUT THE BATTERY WAS PLACED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE BATTERY WAS THE ORIGINAL BATTERY INSTALLED ON CAR. NO ENGINE REPAIR HAD BEEN DONE ON THE VEHICLE. THE BATTERY EXPLODED AND THE ENGINE WAS COVERED BY BATTERY ACID WHICH DESTROYED ALL THE WIRING IN THE ENGINE. BATTERY ACID ALSO WENT DOWN THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CAR DESTROYING PAINT AND EATING INTO METAL. TWO ADJUSTERS EXAMINED THE CAR AS THE INSURANCE WAS AMAZED AT AMOUNT OF DESTRUCTION. THEY EACH STOPPED AT $11,000 DAMAGE AND TOTALED THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT HAD ANY GLASS BEEN BROKEN AND I GOT BATTERY ACID ON MY BODY, THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERE. A MECHANIC AT THE SCENE SAID THE BATTERY PLACEMENT WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS WAS SAID BY INSURANCE ADJUSTERS AND REPAIR SERVICE WHERE THE CAR WAS TOWED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND DODGE ITSELF AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THEY BOTH SAID THEY NEVER HAD HEARD OF ANY PROBLEM. I WALKED AWAY UNHURT BUT COULD HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE (I'M 73) HAD THE BATTERY BEEN PLACED IN A DIFFERENT SPOT IN THE ENGINE. THE DODGE JOURNEY HAS A HISTORY OF TRANSMISSION FAULTS, LOUD AND NOISY AND ROUGH TRANSMISSION SHIFTS. WHILE SHIFTING INTO A GREAT IT WILL MAKE A LOUD THUD AND THE CAR WILL JERK. WE STARTED TO GET USED TO THIS AS IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE DAY 1. WE LET CHRYSLER KNOW ABOUT THIS AND APPARENTLY THIS IS "NORMAL." I HAVE NEVER HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH ANY OTHER CAR SO TO ME IT IS NOT NORMAL. SO FAST FORWARD TO THIS PAST WEEKEND. WE WERE GOING TO TOW A FEW ITEMS AND DROP THEM OFF. SO EVERYTHING IS LOADED AND READY TO TOW, WE ARE ON A FLAT SURFACE WITH NO INCLINE AT ALL, START THE CAR UP AND PUT IT INTO DRIVE AND BAM! A LOUD NOISE WHILE WE TRIED TO PUT IT INTO GEAR. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING WHILE THIS HAPPENED AND WE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS, WHILE IN DRIVE. I TRIED TO HIT THE GAS BUT IT JUST REVVED A FEW THOUSAND RPMS. I HIT THE BRAKES AND PUT IT INTO PARK AND THEN DRIVE AGAIN, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL NOT ENGAGING. SOMETHING HAPPENED CAUSING THE LOUD BANG AND NO THROTTLE RESPONSE TO THE DRIVETRAIN. AFTER I PUT IT IN PARK, WALKED AROUND AND THEN GOT BACK IN STARTING THE CAR UP AGAIN; THE CAR ENGAGED GEAR THIS TIME. EVERYTHING RAN PERFECT AND THEN I TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND NO EVIDENCE WHAT HAPPENED OR WHAT WAS WRONG, BUT REASSURED ME AGAIN THAT THE LOUD TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ARE NORMAL. WANTS US TO BUY AND SUPPORT AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS. ON 02/28/12, I WAS RUSHING TO GET MY SON TO A MEETING AND WHEN WE GOT OUT OF CAR, LOCKED THE DOOR AND WENT IN BUILDING. WHEN WE RETURNED, PUT THE KEY IN IGNITION AND JUST CLICKING NOISE WITH EVERYTHING WORKING EXCEPT FOR THE CAR CRANKING. I WAITED ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND THEN TRIED TO CRANK BUT NO SUCH LUCK. MY COUSIN DID COME OUT, WE ATTEMPTED JUMPER CABLES AND THEN WENT TO GET GAS AND IT STARTED. I WENT TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL UP JUST IN CASE, IGNITION STILL ON AND THE CAR CUTS OFF AND DOESNT RESTART. I CONTACTED A TOW AGAIN AND AN HOUR AND HALF LATER WHEN TOW ARRIVED; IT CRANKED FOR THE TOW DRIVER. ONCE I GOT HOME AND PARKED, THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. WHEN MY HUSBAND GOT HOME ABOUT 4HOURS LATER, IT STILL WOULD NOT CRANK. ON 3/1/13 ATTEMPTED TO TAKE KIDS TO SCHOOL AND CAR WOULD NOT START. EXAMINATION BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THAT THE # 1 CYLINDER WAS MISFIRING AND THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES WERE NOT SEALING PROPERLY.ALSO, THE LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD PLUG WAS SEEPING COOLANT. THE EXPANSION COOLANT TANK WAS LEAKING AT THE SEAM. THESE PROBLEMS NECESSITATED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY AND LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD,AND EXPANSION COOLANT TANK. AFTER REPAIR AND RETURN OF THE VEHICLE TO ME, 26 JULY 2012 , UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE A DISTINCT CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD . WHICH I REPORTED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO WERE QUITE DISMISSIVE ABOUT IT . ON OR ABOUT 27 AUGUST I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE CLICKING WAS GETTING LOUDER AND THE VEHICLE WAS SHUDDERING AGAIN. THIS NECESSITATED A SECOND ENGINE REPAIR. "THE ROCKER ARMS ARE WALKING DUE TO WORN BLOCKS AND ROCKERS". ERGO THE LEFT AND RIGHT BANK ROCKER ARMS/SHAFTS/TAPPETS HAD TO BE REPLACED. CHRYSLER HAS FAILED.NEGLECTED AND REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE IN ITS ENTIRETY DESPITE MY DEMAND THAT THEY DO BECAUSE OF REPEATED DOCUMENTED DEFECTS THEREWITH. THIS ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BROKEN DOWN AND REPAIRED. EVIDENCE THE SECOND ENGINE PARTS FAILURE. ALSO, WHY SHOULD THE BLOCKS BE WORN AT 32K MILES? I AM THINKING THAT THEY WERE WORN WHEN THEY WERE PUT IN AT THE FACTORY AND AN INSPECTOR MISSED THIS IF IN FACT THEY WERE EVEN INSPECTED AT ASSEMBLY.I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONFIDENCE IN THE ROADWORTHINESS OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS ENGINE PRESENTS A SERIOUS THREAT TO THE SAFETY AND WELLBEING OF ME AND/OR MY WIFE AND GRANDCHILDREN WHILE WE ARE OUT IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE AT A HUGE EXPENSE AND THE POOR STOPPING ABILITY CAUSED PREMATURE WEAR OF MY TIRES WHICH ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A LARGE EXPENSE. ALSO, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE WILL NOT CRANK WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED. THE LIGHTS, RADIO, AND WINDOWS CONTINUE TO WORK, RULING OUT THE BATTERY AS THE CAUSE. YOU CAN HEAR A "CLICK" WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED BUT THE CAR REMAINS DEAD. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO SERVICE, NO REMEDY IS MADE AS I AM TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM CAN NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN FOR REPAIR WITH THE SAME ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

WE RECEIVED NOTICE THAT THERE WAS A VOLUNTARY BRAKE RECALL FROM DODGE JAN OR FEB 2012. AT THE TIME MY WIFE WAS EXPERIENCING JERKING AND PULLING TO THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKING. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WERE ADVISED THAT THE FRONT PADS AND ROTORS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND DODGE WOULD COVER THE COST. THIS WAS AROUND FEB/MAR 2012 WITH APPROXIMATELY 17K ON THE VEHICLE. ON 4 AUG WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO DODGE DUE TO THE SAME BRAKING PROBLEMS AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WE WERE ADVISED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CAUSED BY A CRACK PISTON HEAD AND DODGE STATED THAT THE PISTON WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, WE WERE THEN ADVISED THAT THE JERKING AND PULLING IN THE STEERING WAS CAUSED BY THE REAR BRAKES AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAID $534.00 TO HAVE THE REAR ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED. THIS DIDN'T SOUND RIGHT TO ME SO I CHECKED FOR ANY TSB/RECALLS, THE CAS WEBSITE, AND NHTSA WEBSITE I FOUND OUT THAT THE BRAKE PROBLEMS (BOTH FRONT AND REAR) HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH DODGE AND REPAIRS AND COSTS HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE BOARD WITH DODGE EXCEPTING NO REAL FIX EXCEPT CHARGING CAR OWNERS ON REPEATED REPAIRS THAT ONLY FIX THE PROBLEM FOR 3-9K. IF THIS IS THE CASE NHTSA SHOULD MANDATE DODGE TO PROPERLY FIX THIS PROBLEM WITH CORRECT PARTS OR FULLY RECALL ALL OF THESE VEHICLES. DODGE IS PUTTING MY WIFE AND SON IN DANGER EVERYTIME THEY SET FOOT IN THE VEHICLE, AND THAT IS SOMETHING THE AGENCY FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY SHOULD NOT ALLOW TO CONTINUE. WE CONSUMERS NEED A REAL FIX AND NOT A BANDAIDE ON A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND YOUR AGENCY SHOULD NOT ALLOW DODGE TO CONTINUE TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM. I PURCHASED A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY (USED) IN SEPTEMBER, 2010. MY PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED IN MAY, 2011. I WENT OUT TO MY CAR LEAVING WORK, AND IT WOULD NOT START. LIGHTS/HORN/LOCKS/RADIO ALL WORKED, BUT ALL I GOT WHEN I TURNED THE KEY WAS A CLICKING SOUND. AT FIRST THOUGHT, I FIGURED THE BATTERY MAY HAVE DIED AND NEEDED A JUMP-START. BUT THIS DID NOT WORK. AFTER TRYING FOR 1.5 HOURS, I FINALLY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE WAS RELEASED FROM THE TOW TRUCK, IT CRANKED RIGHT UP. I HAD THE DEALER RUN A FULL DIAGNOSTIC CHECK ON IT, SINCE IT WAS THERE AND PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED. BUT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. I DROVE THE CAR HOME, AND THE PROBLEM BEGAN TO OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY. IT HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK, WITH WAIT TIMES VARYING. SOMETIMES IT'LL START AFTER 5 MINUTES. OTHER TIMES, I HAVE WAITED 2-3 HOURS WITHOUT IT STARTING, AND HAVE BEEN FORCED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. OVER THE PAST YEAR I HAVE DRIVEN (OR TOWED) THIS VEHICLE BACK TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP A 10 TIMES! THE MOST RECENT VISIT WAS ON 7/29/12, WHEN I PAID TO HAVE THE WIN MODULE AND KEY FOB REPLACED, AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN SEVERAL REASONS FOR THE PROBLEM, ALL OF WHICH THEY HAVE SUPPOSEDLY FIXED (EITHER AT THE EXPENSE OF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY OR AT MY OWN EXPENSE). OTHER TIMES, I HAVE SIMPLY BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY HAVE IT. I HAVE FILED 2 SEPARATE COMPLAINTS WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATION, BUT NO HELP. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I TRANSPORT MY 3 GRANDCHILDREN ON A DAILY BASIS (TWO 4-MONTH OLD TWINS, BORN PREMATURELY). I LIVE IN TX, WHERE TEMPERATURES REACH AS HIGH AS 110+. I AM VERY AFRAID OF HAVING MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME, AND THE CAR WILL NOT START FOR 2-3 HOURS, FORCING US TO WAIT IN THE 100+ TEMPERATURES TO SEE IF THE CAR WILL DECIDE TO WORK. THE CAR FIRST WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING LOSING ALL POWER, A PLASTIC PIECE WAS INSTALLED TO HOLD KEY AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT ALL ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS LEAVING ME STRANDED THIS HAPPENED FOR ALMOST A YEAR MORE OFTEN THAN NOT AND I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIPS THERE IS NO RECALL AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY TO REPLACE THE IGNITION WHICH I HAD TO FINALLY DO WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER START AT ALL IN JANUARY OF 2012, I NOW HAVE A NEW IGNITION WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND HAVE STILL BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I REPLACED THE IGNITION AND KEYS WHICH I HAD TO PAY EXTRA FOR A SECOND KEY IT IS GETTING BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE I REPLACED THE IGNITION TAKING ME 30 MINS TO START MY CAR TODAY, ALL THE POWER COMES ON THE ENGINE WILL JUST NOT TURN OVER.
