Was driving down freeway when steering wheel got tight and all the lights on dash started to flash and then the car shut off and wouldn't start, had to have it towed to dealership.
I am driving a 2015 Dodge Journey. Randomly, the airbag light came on, followed by loss of all electronics on the steering wheel. The horn will not work, nor any of the switches on the steering wheel. I did find that this is a common issue with Dodge Vehicles under recall 18V332000 AND 17V432000. I was told at the dealership that my specific dodge journey did not group into that recall however is experiencing those same issues. I am unsure if the airbag will even deploy in this state, coupled with the failure of the horn, this vehicle is not safe to drive.
Vehicle has oil cooler leak which plastic oil filter casing and oil cooler adapter cracked and leaked. Oil pooled up on top of engine casing channel below intake plenum and dripped down to electrical connectors that go into transmission. Engine oil heated and smoked because of heated motor and smoke goes into vehicle cabin causing oil smoke film inside with occupants. Oil mist is in the inside windshield and outside windshield along with wipers. There is a recall for this year journey 2015 this year engine 3.6 vet and transmission combination fwd 6spd ;however, the Vin number is not applying to correct the oil cooler and filter replacement under a recall. There is an upgraded part made that does not fail S44 recall; however I had to pay full price for the repair at a dealership and they replaced with the upgraded recalled part. The recall for this repair is S 44 why was not my Vin and vehicle covered under this recall number? Please Include my Vin number in this recall as well since everything is the same for S44.
My Vehicle stopped working all together. It only has 45 thousand miles on it. The dealer found that the ABS module shorted out and caused the whole car to loose communication. the dealer informed me that the replacement part was under review by Chrysler engineers and production has stopped so there is no replacement for this part and so i contacted Chrysler and was told that they don't have an estimated time for new part production. This issue is not only a financial concern but also a safety as my vehicle has no abs, lights and will not run and drive. I have a car that I cant even repair because of lack of part production so now I'm out financially as well with no idea on how long it will take to get repaired.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC), SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC The light for the stability control came on and my brakes chatter feels like there's bumps on the disc .Its pulling to the right , .. Also my door locks have failed .first it started with my rear windshield wiper running with the switch off ,than my reverse lights and now the locks . The back door does not lock at all and the door locks work sometimes .The electronics on my car is failing @ 120,000 it started .Its now at 150,000 tried everything still wont work.
Today while driving on the highway at about 60mph my vehicle lost power causing the car to surge forward. I was unable to steer or brake for several seconds. The gauges completely dropped. It was as if someone had shut the vehicle completely off. The vehicle then restarted on its own. I was nearly rear ended by a semi and am terrified of driving this vehicle anywhere. I did a google search and came across numerous complaints of this happening. No warning lights prior to it happening or afterwards. We have had no issues with this vehicle until this point. It has approximately 90k miles on it.
The car will be driving and just completely shut off in traffic power steering locks up. You can’t get the car into park. The windshield wipers go crazy the screen goes black. It starts doing clicking sounds I had to have the firemen come and get me out of the road my car stopped since the second time this is so dangerous, they cannot figure out what’s wrong with it I replaced the battery @ the dealership, I’ve replaced the alternator at Aamco. I bought this car in 2016 new off the lot. I’ve had many problems with the electrical. This is just the worst .my radio turns on and off at Will .my driver side window will not roll down unless it’s below 30° outside which is super strange, and my air conditioning turns itself on turns itself off, but this was the scariest this is happened before last year and I had Aamco look at the transmission. They said that the transmission had a lot of metal in it that they have seen a lot in these dodges but they cleaned it out for me and it was fine, but this is the same thing that was happening and this is not a transmission Thing this is a power thing it just loses power completely. My car only has 100,000 miles on it I’ve taken care of my car I’m the only owner. All those miles are highway miles from visiting family. I never drive my car anywhere further and then in my neighborhood which is a .5 radius and I work from home so I rarely drive my car so 100,000 miles it isn’t a high number for a car that’s taken care of that isn’t driven often.
I am currently having an issue where my climate control turns itself on even after I turn it off. Just recently my dual control for the climate would switch back to single even after selecting to have it dual. At this moment my air/heat is always on and I really have no need to keep the windows down unless it gets too warm and I need to let cooler air in.
Faulty keyless ignition node
Won't start. Multiple repairs and it still happens. Online forums say it's common on 2009-2017 year models
My a/c comes on when I turn the heater on. Then the temperature drops while the heater is on. Thank you

Additionally, the contact stated that the failure recurred while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that she depressed the accelerator pedal continuously until the vehicle responded. The contact stated that the traction control and the ABS warning lights were illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle failed to start when the weather was cold. The contact stated that the failure persisted upon attempting to jumpstart the vehicle and replacing the battery. The contact stated that she was able to restart the vehicle when the weather was warm. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failures to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 15V675000 (Electronic Stability Control, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and 16V273000 (Steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000. The VIN was unavailable.

I was sitting in the house and heard a loud boom, looked outside and my dodge journey was on fire. I called 911 to get to the fire department, and went outside with the fire ext. and the fire was on the left rear of the truck. I put the fire out on the outside but it was burning on the in side and could not get the doors open. The Bardstown KY fire department arrived and put the fire out. The fire department took pictures and are making a report. There is no reason this truck caught on fire. The wires were burnt on the tail light on the left rear and the inside of the truck. The wire Harness in hatch where it meets in the boot wires break from using hatch 2010 to 2020 all models and can cause camera wiper brake lights reverse lights plate lights and tail lamps and unlock and lock button not to work on hatch the wires break from normal use on all models and it can cause a spark and start a fire
The ABS system got wet and shorted out the electrical system. It seems it may have been a recall earlier that was done but obviously it has failed again. Was driving and all lights and beepers went off. My abscandvtraction control and brake sensor and cruise control and park assist and engine and brake lights are all on and it now won’t start easy. It’s a mess and at the dealer who says they won’t help fix it
Everything comes on and the battery is good, but my vehicle will not start. With my feet on the brakes and I press start it goes to run, but it's not running, and it did not start. My husband and I were 52miles away from home and I had to have it tow to the Chrysler Dodge service center in Stone Mountain, and we live in Senoia Ga. My vehicle has been in their shop for over a week, and they actually said they are trying to figure out the problem. The engine light came on and the vehicle will not start it appeared to be dead, but everything came on but the vehicle. I google the problem and I found out I'm not alone over 100 other people had the same problem with this particular vehicle. Most model from 2013 to 2017 are having the same problem. I need my vehicle to take my husband to and from the cancer center] and other places I may need to take him to see a specialist.
My car battery dies over night. Leaving me stranded. I have replaced the battery 5 times in 2 years. I have looked this problem up and there are a huge number of complaints online from Journey owners with the same issue. As a company, Dodge should stand behind their products & issue a recall to fix this problem. I can not keep affording to have my car towed and replacing batteries.

My car has completely locked up going down the road as in I had gas to go but no power steering nothing overn2nd gear all safety lights came on no brakes and after i got it stopped and turned off it wouldn't turn back on. Now I have an issue with it stalling out after coming off an exit or just to a normal stop sign with no warning it jolts kinda shutters and shuts off acts as if it doesn't want to down shift or stop
Wire harness in the door, keeps damaging wires. Have had to replace mulitple times. It is a fire hazard

The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the speedometer was inoperable with the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wiring harness was corroded from water damage. The mechanic unhooked the wiring harness and drained the water from underneath the hood. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with ABS control module failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

I had a loss of brake lights, tail lights and right rear turn signals while driving. Peeled back the rubber boot over the wire harness on the upper left hatchback door and found 6 broken wires and 5 chaffed to bare metal. Appears that opening and closing the rear hatch over time bent the wires to the breaking point. This could have caused a rear end collision from lack of brake lights and tail lights. Dodge forum shows this to be a very common problem with the Journeys and fortunately I was stopped and warned about the condition before a crash occurred. This is a serious issue and as an LE officer has the potential for deadly rear end crashes.
Looking back the issue started about one month prior to warning lights came on when I had to brake quickly, but not really "slamming" on the brakes and they seemed to "lock-up". Luckily I had plenty of room between myself and the car in front of me. It never happened again so I thought it was a fluke. Thirty days or so later, I started the engine and everything was fine but after about 20 feet down the road, the brake, ABS, and traction lights all came on. Went back home, turned off the engine, went inside to ask husband to come look and when he turned engine back on and he tried driving it around the corner but the lights did not come back on. The issue continued with the lights going on and go off, when they are on the cruise control is inoperable. We took it to Autozone to see if we could find out what might be going on and we were told that we would need to take it to a Dodge dealership. It took several weeks for them to fit us in, but when they took in we were told it was an internal short in the ABS module and would need to be replaced. We were also told that it would be 3 months before they could even order it. While we have been waiting to safely use our vehicle I have been researching and found that there is a recall on other 2015 Dodge Journeys (R61) for issue with the ABS module for just the reason we are having to replace ours. In checking our VIN, it states that our vehicle is not covered under the recall, but not only am I questioning that should it be and there might be many other vehicles on the road with the issue and they won't know it until it is too late since ours had a scary event prior to warning lights ever coming on. I also do not think we should have to pay over $1,000 for an issue covered under a recall.
Traction and abs light constantly on. Code c2200-49 present. Anti-lock brake module internal/internal electronic failure. Not able to use cruise control. Abs not working and no traction stability control due to abs module failure. 70k + miles on vehicle
In 2/2021 After having dealership replace thermostat and front brakes/rotors, I got my car back and then the same day the ABS, Traction control and ABS lights were on the dash, so I returned to dealership, resulting in full corrosion on the wiring harness repair from water leakage and anti lock brake module replacement. Now in late Sept (less than 3000 miles later) the ABS, traction control and Service AWD light on the dash AGAIN and dealership said it niw needs ABS sensor replaced, the module had water in the ABS module. This is a safety issue with disables ABS and ESC disabled. This appears to be related to other similar complaints and Chrysler recall R61 for 2015 Dodge Journeys, but not showing up for my VIN.
when I purchased the car many problems did occur: Car does has A) Gas problem ( like air inside...car stop working etc...) B) Car has new battery ( in my 1st year) but it does not start C) Car computer was wipe it out( Virus ??) D) And the major: Car has HYDROLIC PROBLEM ( Transmission, Power train and Gas issue)
NHTSA recall 15V675000 was performed by the Dodge Dealer in 2016. Braking control system failures were recently indicated by dash panel warning lights. Independent mechanic verified water intrusion, corrosion and electrical short circuits. Remedial repairs by independent mechanic did not solve the problem. I contacted Dealer Service who verified the complaint in Jun 2021, but Chrysler corporation declined to cover the costs of the proper repair. I contend their ABS and/or ESC system failures are due to their defective design and that Chrysler is still responsible to restore the vehicle to a safe operating condition.
Horn and buttons on steering wheel do not work so guessing that the airbag isn’t going to deploy either.
THE CAR SLIPS OR JERKS WHEN IT SHIFTS INTO GEAR, USUALLY WHEN GOING FROM FIRST TO SECOND. IT IS AN AUTOMATIC AND THIS HAPPENS WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE MECHANICS LOOK AT AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT TWICE BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS.

THERE IS A RECALL ON 2015 DODGE JOURNEYS FOR THE WIRING ON THE ABS SYSTEM THAT CAUSES THE WIRES TO GET CORRODED AND THE ABS NOT WORKING. HAD NOT STARTED THE VEHICLE FOR 1 WEEK. WITH FOB IN HAND I OPENED THE DOOR. WITH DOOR OPEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE (IT DID NOT COMPRESS), THEN PUSHED THE START BUTTON. THE DASH FLASHED ON AND OFF SAYING FOB NOT DETECTED. TRIED PUSHING FOB, TRIED STARTING CAR AGAIN. THEN A LOUD CLICKING BEGAN AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE IN THE MOTOR AREA. THE DASH FLASHING STOPPED AND ALL SCREENS WERE BLACK. NO POWER TO VEHICLE AT ALL, DOOR LOCKS DID NOT WORK. OPENED HOOD TO SEE WHERE CLICKING WAS COMING FROM, BUT COULD NOT DETECT. TRIED REMOTE START AND TRADITIONAL START AS WELL. NOTHING WORKS. ENGINE CLICKING FINALLY STOPPED AFTER ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES. CAR HAS TO BE OPENED WITH THE KEY AND WILL STILL NOT START.

STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS NO LONGER WORKING, HORN WILL NOT WORK AND AIR BAG LIGHT IS RANDOMLY COMING ON AND OFF. I BELIEVE THAT THE CLOCK SPRING MECHANISM IS FAULTY AND HAS CAUSED WIRING TO BECOME WORN DO TO POOR QUALITY OF PART AND INSTALLATION DURING MANUFACTURING. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT EVEN 5 YEARS OLD,SO PROBLEMS WITH MAJOR SAFETY COMPONENTS AND CONTROLS ARE THE DIRECT LACK OF QUALITY CONTROL UPON INSTALLATION. OTHER RECALLS RELATED TO SIMILAR ISSUES AND VEHICLE TYPE ARE CONSISTENT FROM MANUFACTURER. DO TO THE OVER ALL SAFETY HAZARD OF THIS FAULT I WOULD EXPECT THE MANUFACTURE TO HELP ASSIST IN REPAIR TO AVOID POSSIBLE INJURIES AND LAW SUITS. I WAS TYING TO GO TO LUNCH AT WORK AND MY CAR TRIED TO TURN ON THEN WENT DEAD. WHILE CHECKING KEY FOB WITH BATTERY IN MY HAND THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD STARTED GOING CRAZY. NOTHING WILL TURN ON AND NOW THE ELECTICAL SYSTEM IS JUST GOING NUTS.

CAR WILL STALL ANYWHERE AND ANYTIME AND DOESN'T GIVE YOU ENOUGH TIME TO PULL OVER. LOSE ALL POWER TO ACCELERATOR AND STEERING WHEEL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF AND WILL NOT MOVE. IF CAR IS OFF IT WON'T START OFTEN BEING TOWED. CAMSHAFT SENSOR AND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES WITHIN A YEAR. TRULY A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE RADIO AND AIR CONTROLS HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN AFTER YOU MANUALLY SHUT THEM OFF THEY COME BACK ON OR START BLOWING OUT HOT AIR ON LEGS.

STOPPED AT RED LIGHT AND WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDDLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STALLED, THE DASHBOARD, RADIO AND A/C WERE STILL ON. ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON CAR AND IT SHAKE TO TRY TO TURN OFF BUT WOULDN'T. TOOK IT TO CARMAX AND CAR WOULD NOT RECOGNIZED CAR KEY TO TURN ON. CARMAX THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY AND IT WASN'T THAT. THEY SAID IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP, HAD IT REPLACED BUT CAR WOULD START AND IT TURN OFF LESS THEN 5MIN. CARMAX SUGGESTED TAKING TO DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR ENGINE TARE DOWN TO FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. ESTIMATE OF COST TO REPAIR IS $3200-5300. CAR IS AT 77K-78K MILES ON IT. FROM WHAT I READ THIS IS WHERE THE CAR STARTS TO STALL UPON REACHING AMOUNT OF MILES ON IT. *TR

THE FIND WAS THAT THERE WAS A MISSING BOLT IN THE TIE ROD. THE SERVICE MAN SAID THERE WAS NO REASONABLE EXCUSE THAT COULD EXPLAIN HOW THIS WOULD EVEN OCCUR. TODAY, THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE DAYS. INITIALLY FOR THE BATTER LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING. LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER THEN LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WHILE DRIVING THIS TIME WITH THE WARNING ON THE PANEL THAT READ BATTERY SAVING MODE. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED THE CAR TO THE SHOP. WAITED ALL DAY YESTERDAY ONLY TO BE GIVEN THE SAME EXPLANATION THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY GIVEN. UPON FURTHER PROBING I DISCOVER THE CAR HAD NEVER EVEN BEEN RE INSPECTED. THE CAR CONTINUES TO BE IN THE SHOP HAS HAS BEEN UNDRIVABLE FOR 4 DAYS NOW. I HAVE A 6 YEAR OLD SONE WHO IS TRANSPORTED IN THE VEHICLE DAILY. WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON 3/14/17, HE STOPPED TO HELP A FELLOW OFFICER THAT WAS STRANDED, HE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS HELPING THE OTHER OFFICER HE SMELLED SMOKE AND LOOKED BACK AND SAW THAT IT WAS OUR CAR ON FIRE. THE FIRE OCCURRED IN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR PANEL, HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME,AFTER HE THOUGHT THE FIRE WAS OUT. THE NEXT DAY HE DROVE THE CAR TO THE AUTO SHOP,WHILE ON THE WAY THERE THE FIRE RESTARTED,HE WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE BODY SHOP. THE VEHICLE SAT AT THE DEALER SHIP FOR 13 OR 14 DAYS BEFORE WE FINALLY GOT THE OKAY FROM CHRYSLER TO FIX IT. THE MECAHANICAL PART WAS FIXED, HOWEVER THE SEVER SMELL FROM THE SMOKE,BURNT RUBBER,AND PLASTIC WAS NOT. WE DID TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK,AND THE DEALERSHIP DID DO EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO GET THE SMELL OUT, THE SMELL IS STILL THERE. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE WE HAVE.SO WE HAVE HAD NO CHOICE, BUT TO DRIVE IT. MY BOYS BOTH HAVE SEVERE ASTHMA AND ALLERGIES, SO RIDING IN A CAR WITH A CONSTANT ODOR OF SMOKE AND BURNT STUFF IS EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY. MY HUSBAND HAS ALSO HAD A COUGH FROM THE SMOKE INHAILATION THAT OCCURRED, HE IS CURRENTLY COUGHING STUFF UP OUTTA HIS LUNGS. I HAVE MADE AT LEAST 20-25 PHONE CALLS TO CHRYSLER, AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ONE BACK, WE HAVE NOT EVEN RECEIVED THE REPORT FROM THE FIRE INSPECTOR THAT THEY SENT. I WOULD REALLY JUST LIKE TO GET SOME ANSWERS AND KNOW MY RIGHTS. ANY AND ALL HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

TRIED TO RESET HEADREST, BUT WILL NOT GO BACK INTO PLACE. CURRENTLY HAVE IT HELD TOGETHER WITH A LEATHER BELT. CONCERNS WHETHER THE PASSENGER HEADREST WILL DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO AT TIMES THE INTERIOR LIGHTING WILL DIM FOR NO REASON, NO EXTERNAL LIGHTING HAS CHANGED TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. UCONNECT OFTEN WILL HAVE ISSUES WITH CONNECTING TO PHONE. THE ILLUMINATION ISSUES OCCUR EITHER AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS JUST BEEN STARTED OR IT HAS OCCURED WHILE DRIVING. WE ARE ALSO EXPEREINCING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE BEING DIFFICULT TO PRESS DOWN ON WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, EITHER WITH THE REMOTE START OR WITHOUT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN 3 MONTHS... THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON, GOES OFF, THEN THE FUEL CAP LIGHT COMES ON. THE FIRST TIME WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A SENSOR AND THERE WAS A MINOR VAPOR LEAK DETECTED SO DODGE REPLACED THE SENSOR. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, THERE WAS A MAJOR VAPOR LEAK DETECTED SO THEY REPLACED THE GAS CAP. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME AND ARE WAITING TO SEE WHAT IS CAUSING IT NOW. ALSO, YET ANOTHER ISSUE OCCURRED IN WHICH THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE AIR CONDITIONING FAN WOULD NOT BLOW, SUPPOSEDLY THAT SITUATION RESOLVED ITSELF ALTHOUGH THIS WAS WITNESSED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT RECREATE IT. FINALLY, WE PURCHASED A 4 CYLINDER AND LIVE IN A CLIMATE THAT GETS UP OVER 115 DEGREES. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE A/C BLOWS WARM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS STATED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 4 CYLINDER DODGE JOURNEYS.

WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE BY PLACING MY FOOT ON THE BREAK AND PRESSING THE START ENGINE BUTTON, THE CAR INITIALLY BEGAN TO START BUT THEN SHUT OFF (IT WAS ON A HALF TANK OF GAS). I RELEASED THE BREAK, AND THEN MADE A SECOND ATTEMPT; PRESSING THE BREAK AND PRESSING THE START ENGINE BUTTON. THIS TIME THE ENGINE REPEATED THE INITIAL VEHICLE START SOUND (AS IF IT WERE COUGHING), UNTIL I HIT THE START ENGINE BUTTON TO TURN CANCEL THE PROCESS OR TURN THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE STARTED SUCCESSFULLY ON THIRD ATTEMPT. WHEN I GOT HOME, I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE ICON WAS ON - NOT BLINKING, JUST ON. I TURNED OFF MY ENGINE, AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE ENGINE ICON LIT UP AGAIN. THIS MORNING WHEN I WAS DISCUSSING IT WITH MY HUSBAND HE LET ME KNOW THAT A FEW DAYS AGO THE JOURNEY HOOD WAS POPPED. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE THE HOOD POPPER IS, AND NONE OF MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS GOT SNAGGED ON ANYTHING SO I DON'T BELIEVE I AM THE ONE WHO POPPED IT.
