My check light came on and when I check the code which was a p0420, Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1). Emissions Recall U67: Catalytic Converter Efficiency. This was part of the recall. Therefore it doesn’t meet the CA emissions standard. It is causing my vehicle to slightly overheat at standstill. It’s hasn’t been inspected yet and It has been over a month since this started happening to the vehicle.
My family has two Dodge journeys both 2017s. The catalytic converter code keeps popping on our cars. Other years of Dodge journeys and other Dodge vehicles have had recalls for those but not ours. Seems suspect to me that we would have two Dodge journeys that are popping for the same codes, and this seems to be a issue in other Dodge journey years previously.
My wife and I each have a 2017 Dodge journey. Both of our vehicles have now shown codes for catalytic converter issues. Previous years of Dodge journeys have been recalled for similar issues, but not ours at least not yet. I don't think it's right that we should have to repair on two cars the exact same issue that is reported for other journey years.
Didn’t get into accident but a couple months ago my car wouldn’t start , wouldn’t try to the lights wouldn’t come on nothing. Someone cleaned battery terminal it started . Now randomly sometimes it won’t start it will try but won’t so I put it neutral and barley push it toward put it back in park then it will start .
I am so not happy with Jacob Conlon who works at Mitsubishi in La porte. I realized that he was playing with me all the time and that he never repaired my suv until I found out from Danny who works at Dodge. I dropped it off at service and picked it up more than 5 times because Jacob never repair it
The vehicle shuts off while driving. It has occurred 6 times over the course of a year. It results in a total loss of power, steering, brakes creating a very unsafe scenario. It has happened 5 times while doing above 35 mph and in one case above 50 mph and resulting in one missed stop sign. This creates a tremendous level of anxiety. I have taken it in on four occasions to reputable repair facilities Christian brothers automotive for repair three times soon to be four times and CarMax once. Three times I was turned away with no help only inspection fees. The fourth time Christian brothers replaced cam shaft sensors only to have another incident while driving 40mph down the road. Thankfully I was able to stop safely and now I have another appointment scheduled for service. I feel like there is a safety miss on this vehicle.
I bought my 2017 Dodge Journey in September 2021, as I was driving home I noticed an issue with acceleration. I would have my foot on the throttle and the vehicle would seemingly convulse, like accelerate then bow down and repeat. I brought It back to the dealership and they kept it for a week and returned my vehicle stating they couldn't figure out the issue. to this day it still does the same thing! Its so dangerous especially when pulling out from a stop sign or a highway into flowing traffic. Sometimes My car will accelerate Great! Mostly its slow and harsh when im on the throttle. Only stops when I release the gas petal or floor it... NOT SAFE The dealership
My engine light came on my vehicle and the dealership says it’s a catalytic converter problem and I need a new one. That part apparently is recalled on other vehicles but not on mine for the year 2017. But other vehicles are having issues with that part as well and the dealership says the manufacturer should pay for it since it’s recalled but the manufacturer told me no due to not being in a certain year. I have kids and need my car.
The vehicle wouldn’t start, just kept idolizing. After trying for 10 minutes then getting a new key battery, the vehicle started then engine light was on. A code for crankshaft was on. But then check engine light went off by time I was home. Car broke down in middle of road. Wheel and breaks locked up which was very unsafe with my kids in car and I was unable to move it till tow truck came. Vehicle started working once it was at the auto repair shop. So we had him change the fuel pump because nothing else would show was wrong with the vehicle. Then 5 days later it broke down again. It is now back at the auto repair with no code showing.

I took my car in for an engine knocking noise and was told that my motor needs to be replace. I was told that they have recalled all the other motors that were made during this time period but mine is not part of the recall. They have attempted it is a known issue with the cylinder that were put in the 2.4 L motors but will not help me in fixing the issue because they don't have my motor on recall. My is the E5 and the motors that they have recalled are the E4 and E6 motors that were put into the Jeeps and the Chrysler but they have not recalled the Dodges motors. Consumer have found out that these motors in fact have two recalls on them. The recall number is W80 and W84. They have found that the cylinder O-rings are bad, and this is confirmed with the with the notice that was sent with NHTSA ID # 10138863 with the manufacture communication number 9003357. Dodge is still refusing to fix the issue and replace the motor.

The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from underneath the passenger’s side hood. The contact stated that she did not notice any warning lights being illuminated. The power steering and brakes were still functioning as needed which allowed her to pull the vehicle safely to the side shoulder. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. SEVERAL LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASHBOARD INCLUDING THE ELECTRONIC TRACTION CONTROL AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY STOLE ON THE FREEWAY WITH NO POWER AND COULD ONLY GO 25 MPH. THIS ALONG WITH REPEATEDLY ACCELERATING AS I WAS TRYING TO STOP CAUSED NEARLY AN ACCIDENT .

CHRYSLER DODGE DEALER CLAIMS THERE ARE 40,000 ORDERS FOR THIS PART IN WAITING AND THAT THE TIMETABLE FOR GETTING A REPLACEMENT PART IS INDEFINITE. THEIR SUGGESTION IS TO KEEP REFILLING WITH OIL FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. THEY STATE THE PART MAY EVENTUALLY BE A RECALLED BUT IS NOT YET. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE WITH SO MANY KNOWN PROBLEMS THAT IT'S NOT BEEN RECALLED ALREADY. ADDITIONALLY IT'S A $700 REPAIR FOR A KNOWN ISSUE.

THIS IS THE SECOND DODGE JOURNEY NOW THAT I HAVE OWNED AND BOTH OF THEM HAVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE BACK TAIL LIGHTS AS WELL AS THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS LEFT TAIL LIGHT AND BOTH OF MY VEHICLES. ALSO WITH MY SECOND DODGE JOURNEY WITH BOTH OF THE CARS I HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AS WELL AND I ALSO HAVE AIRBAG WARNING ALWAYS GOING OFF OF MY CARD WHEN I MAKE TURNS. CAR IS IN SHOP NOW..TWO DAYS.AND NO ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS..THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A WELL-DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE..HAS THIS CAUSED DEATH? THEY CHARGE A $180.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE, THAT CAN NOT BE APPLIED TO REPAIR..UNFAIR AND CRIMINAL TO PUT VEHICLES ON THE ROAD THEY KNOW ARE FAULTY..FAULTY AS IN ELECTRONIC ISSUES THAT NO ONE CAN PINPOINT..AND IT APPEARS THAT IF THEY THROW ENOUGH PARTS AT IT, MAYBE THAT WILL WORK...THESE ISSUES MUST STOP!!

I WAS DRIVING ON BRIARCLIFF RD AND MY CAR CUT OFF WHILE IT WAS ON (RUN) IT WAS IN MOTION. EVERYTHING LOCKED. THE BRAKES, GAS THE STEERING WHEEL. I SAT THERE I ALMOST WAS HIT. I KEPT TRYING TO PRESS THE GAS AND BRAKES BUT IT WOULDN'T PUSH DOWN. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT I WAS SCARED AND PANICKED. I THEN CUT THE CAR OFF AND IT CUT ON I IMMEDIATELY STARTED DRIVING TOWARD HOME.

THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP TO 11244334 AND 11243797. FOR BACKGROUND, THE 2017 JOURNEY BEGAN STALLING INTERMITTENTLY AND NOT THROWING A CODE (STARTING AT ABOUT 23,500 MILES). THE STALLING OCCURRED DURING ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE EVENT AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE UNTIL IT THROWS A CODE. AFTER 6,000 MILES AND HUNDREDS OF STALLS THE VEHICLE FINALLY THREW A CODE, (29,500 MILES, P0335 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR). THE SENSOR REPLACED, CONNECTOR DID NOT FIT SENSOR WELL SO IT WAS REPLACED (SUBJECT OF COMPLAINT 11244334). THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED, AND THREE DAYS LATER, IT STALLED AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY. ONLY THIS TIME THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK INTERMITTENTLY. BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE TECHNICIAN IN HIS FRUSTRATION AND OPENED THE WIRING HARNESS. WHAT HE FOUND ABOUT 8 INCHES FROM THE CONNECTOR WAS "CRANK SHAFT POSITION WIRES CUT AND TWISTED TOGETHER..." THE SERVICE ADVISOR ASKED WHO ELSE WAS IN THERE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE DONE ALL WORK AND MAINTENANCE MEANING THIS ISSUE WAS IN PRODUCTION.

THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF 11243797. FOR BACKGROUND, THE 2017 DOGE JOURNEY HAS BEEN STALLING INTERMITTENTLY STARTING AT 23,000 MILES MOST OF THE TIME NOT THROWING A CODE. THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND WITHOUT A CODE COULD NOT FIX WITHOUT A CODE. WE ENDURED 7,000 MILES AND 100'S OF STALLS (STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, HIGHWAY, LEFT TURNS IN FRONT OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC) BEFORE A CODE WAS THROWN INDICATING CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALER TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT THE CONNECTOR TO THE SENSOR DID NOT FIT THE SENSOR.

I THEN TOOK IT INTO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND WAS OVER $800 IN REPAIRS. WHILE RESEARCHING ONLINE, I CAME ACROSS A RECALL FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUE ON THE 2011-2016 SERIES OF THE DODGE JOURNEYS. I FEEL AS IF THE 2017 SERIES SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS WELL.

I WAITED ABOUT 20 SECONDS, THEN ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE ENGINE BACK ON. THE ENGINE STARTED WITH NO TROUBLE AND WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENCE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.

THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR FROM AVIS. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 70MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON BY THEMSELVES, ALL DIAL INSTRUMENTS WENT TO ZERO AND ALL THE ELECTRONIC ALERTS (OIL, OVER HEAT, TIRE PRESSURE, ETC) ANNUNCIATED. THE THROTTLE REMAINED LOCKED AT THE CRUISE SETTING AND WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WITH ACTIVATION OF THE BRAKES OR CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON. I WAS ABLE TO OVER POWER THE ENGINE WITH THE BRAKES AND GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS STILL RUNNING AT AN ENGINE SPEED TO SUPPORT 70MPH AND FIGHTING THE BRAKES. THE PUSH TO START/STOP ENGINE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. I EVENTUALLY GOT THE CAR INTO JUST RAP AND THEN PARK. AT THIS TIME, IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. A WEAKER PERSON WOULD MOST CERTAINLY BEEN INVOLVED IN A BAD ACCIDENT. I WAS CONCERNED THE CAR WOULD CATCH ON FIRE AS THE BRAKES SMOKED SIGNIFICANTLY. [XXX] [XXX]. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CODE P0456 WILL CAUSE THE CAR TO ACT INDIFFERENT, IT IS STILL DRIVABLE, BUT CAN CAUSE OTHER COMPONENTS TO SHOW A FALSE READING. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS, AND EVERY TIME WE GO TO THE DEALERSHIP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL DISAPPEAR. WE HAVE CHECKED THE GAS CAP, AND THIS VEHICLE IS UNDER 17,000 MILES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH DODGE, JEEP, AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES, AND THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED BY THE MANUFACTURER. TREAT THIS KNOWN ISSUE AS A RECALL, AND IMPROVE UPON YOUR EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM.
