2018 DODGE JOURNEY Unknown Or Other Problems

There were no incidents, My backup camera was working. And now it’s not . When I go to backup the rear view mirror is somewhat dark making is difficult to see, especially at night.If possible I try no to backup. I did notice when I googled in recalls on the 2018 journey backup camera, there was a recall. Thanking you in advance. [XXX] . The back up camera intermittently comes on when vehicle in reverse. Sometimes it shows a camera with a line, sometimes an image then it disappears and sometimes the image is hazy or distorted. It is never consistent nor reliable. The rear view mirror cannot be used to its full size because of the image of the failed camera.

My back up camera goes black or it has lines all over it, sometimes it works out times i can't see nothing, have to stick my head out to back up.

I was driving in the vehicle to put gas in, all of the sudden, i heard something snap and felt something hit the back of my head really hard. I felt disoriented as I didn't know what had happened. When I stopped and look at the seat, I noticed that head rest had deployed suddenly without warning and hit the back of my head. There was no accident that should have caused the head rest deployment. I sat there disoriented and started getting a headache and my neck started getting stiff. It's been a week since it happened, if it doesn't go away , I will be seeing a doctor as the pain comes and goes.

There are known recalls on 2018 Dodge Journeys. For some reason my VIN [XXX] doesn't show on the list. 1) back up camera shows a black screen or a blurry dark picture (on going issue for over a year) 2) electrical system sometimes refuses to acknowledge the key fob and or won't start due to it thinking it has a dead battery. Rear veiw mirror camera started coming on late and then completely quit

My back up camera has flipped the view upside down. Sometimes it glitches like static. I have tried different approaches to fix the issue but it continues to be upside down. It also caused me to back into my other car due to it glitching in the process of me backing up by causing me to lose visibility in a split second. It has been like this for years now with no hope of finding a solution. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.

Got my wheels balanced, the technician informed me that all 4 of my rims were warpped. Car leaks coolant and overheats when using heat in cabin.

In my journey my back up camera is the mirror not the center one. The thing is my mirror doing the same thing cant even see and idk how. Its all blurry the thing is the mirror looks really good and the camera. Im original owner. Also the cruise control doesn't even work or operate. Its wild how having a vehicle will have so many important things fail. I see Hondas from the 90s and their cruise working, and cars that had their first back up like a 2010 acura zdx I tinted worked like it was brand new still and its still ome for tht owner.

My car stalled and showed the check engine light. I took it to my usual repair shop. The first diagnostics indicated coils and spark plugs were the problem. So they we re fixed. Shortly (a few miles) after the repair, the car stalled. The second diagnostic at the shop indicated a new battery was needed. That was installed. (A few more miles after this repair) the car c ontinued to stall. For the third diagnostic, I was told to take it to a transmission shop.(and "I wouldn't drive it til it was repaired") I had it towed to a transmission shop. They rebuilt the transmission, and found (what I consider the reason for a recall) the flex plate had its center torn out. This may have caused shards to damage parts of the engine. There was a lot of fluid leakage and they had to install a new radiator. They wanted me to have them check it out in 2 weeks. In less than a week the car stalled and died,(thankfully in a parking lot) with all the dashboard warning lights. I was close to a dealer, so I had it towed to the Dodge dealer, hoping they would know how to fix it. There was still a lot of fluid leakage. They replaced the radiator and other stuff, and for the past week or so it is driving well.

My Cadillac converter is going bad. I only had my truck for 3yrs now. Also the steering and suspension diag/power steering system flush. Can I get a feed back to what shall I do or what can be done. Back up Camera has black screen, it flickering sometimes upside down

My back up camera isn't working and none of the locks work with the key fob. I bought my car from a car lot and it was a fleet car and it says all recalls have been fixed but my car hasn't been fixed at all and I don't know why. My car won't even charge my phone at all in either port so it has a big wiring problem. I have kids and grandkids in my car all the time and I can not see behind me because my camera hasn't worked since the day I got it which is 10/20/23 and that is really dangerous and I can't even charge my phone to call someone even if I do have an accident

When shifting car in Reverse the image on the rearview mirrior for the backup camera was twice inverted. The next day while the car was in reverse the mirror display just consistantly flashed black and white with no real image.

Unknown!!! I have had my radio replaced two times already for defect and now the radio want shut off again and it want allow a phone to connect to it also now the controls to the air flowing system (ac) want shut off and stay off when u push the off button . It comes back on when u try to shut it off. It’s a 2018 and it only has 40 thousand miles on it . I got it replaced two times for defect in the past three years . I’m tired of this happening. You should recall and fix it at no cost to me this is crazy. I’m disappointed about this. I had both replaced at dealer. So there is a record through mopar! Please let me no about this and how to handle it .. I about ready to sue.. I paid all this money for a vehicle I can’t even listen to the radio and can’t cut my air off .. let me no. Now when question in next section is answered the date of incident is when it stated then followed after that another time now is the third time I’m going through it again .

2018 Dodge Journey, my backup camera is not working as designed and apparently is not part of a recall. When putting the vehicle in reverse it is very difficult to all most impossible to see the image on the screen.

Passenger side front seat headrest airbag deployed while driving. The airbag feature deployed while my 13 year old daughter was sitting in the seat. When the safety feature deployed, it hit my child in the back of her head causing pain and injury. This safety feature deployed without warning or cause. The headrest broke when it deployed is now just hanging from the seat.

When backing up, with the sun at the rear, the camera goes to a over exposed or washed out screen. There is no picture and this makes the backup camera worthless and dangerous. Happens every time in reverse with the sun at the rear of the vehicle.

When you are in the vehicle and the vehicle is off or on when you try to lock it to be safe because the keys are in the vehicle it automatically unlocks. I feel very unsafe as I am a single mom of 3. I will get in the vehicle and lock the doors. It will automatically unlock. If I was in an emergency situation where I needed to lock the doors for my safety it would just unlock.

Rear back up camera in the rear view mirror is not functioning correctly. It will go black but illuminate a camera with a line through it. Makes in impossible to use to back up because the light on the mirror makes it extremely difficult to see in the mirror and the camera isn’t working to help either. One day it worked and the following day it didn’t. Also, the passenger airbag light will go in and off even with someone occupying the seat which leads me to believe the airbag will not deploy if if in an accident. the computer has been run and it showed no issues. I know there was a recall to the back up cameras but it says my vehicle wasn’t affected. How do I get this fixed. Both are major safety concerns. This car has 60k miles on it and has been through 3 sets of tires. The tires wear extremely fast on this vehicle and they are 50-60k tires.

I was driving in inclement weather in all wheel drive on the freeway traveling at approximately 50MPH. The rear of the vehicle felt as if it slipped on ice, however it did not change it's course of travel. The issue continued to happen. I turned off the all wheel drive and the issue did not happen again. The vehicle will not pick up speed after starting until the ABS Warning turns on. The time the warning light comes on can be anywhere from 10 seconds after picking the vehicle in drive. This time can last as long as a minute. This is every time the vehicle is started. A mechanic advised the sensor in the Right Rear Axle Assembly is not working and needs to be replaced.

I GOT A VEHICLE FROM CARVANA AND HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO BE REPAIRED. GOT IT BACK 2 DAYS AGO AND NOW SEEMS LIKE THE REAR END IS ABOUT TO FALL OFF AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T GET IT IN FOR 2 WEEKS AND SENT ME HOME DRIVING IT YET AGAIN.

THE BACKUP CAMERA STOPPED WORKING AND THE CABIN LIGHTS WITHIN THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF, NOT EVEN WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHTS WOULD GET BRIGHTER EVERY TIME I HIT THE BREAK MAKING IT DANGEROUS DRIVING IN THE DARK AND ELIMINATED THE USE OF THE BACKUP CAMERA FOR SAFETY.

I WAS AT THE STOP SIGN AT THE TOP OF MY HILL. I ACCELERATED AND MY PURSE FELL FORWARD AND KNOCKED MY SHIFTER INTO REVERSE AT 5 MPH. I WAS ON A PUBLIC ROAD. ANOTHER TIME, MY DAUGHTER REACHED FOR THE PLUG TO PLUG IN HER CHARGER AND ACCIDENTALLY KNOCK THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO REVERSE FROM DRIVE. WE WERE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT.

DID A QUESTIONING OF OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLE OWNERS AND ALL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE.THIS IS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING STILL. SECOND PROBLEM IS MOTOR MOUNTS WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED ON ANY INCLINE SURFACE EVEN SLIGHT INCLINE OF JERKING VIOLENTLY FROM PARK TO ANY GEAR AND BACK TO PARK. MANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS ALSO QUESTIONED HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES AND NEGATIVE FIXES OR RESOLUTIONS FROM DEALERSHIPS REPAIR PERSONNEL. THIS IS FROM PARK TO MOTION AND VICE VERSA.

ON JUNE 3, 2019, I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE ROAD AND MY VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING FROM THE AC VENT NEAR THE GLOVE BOX. I GOT ME AND MY SON AND FOUR YEAR OLD PASSENGER OUT OF THE VEHICLE. AIR BAGS STARTED BLOWING OUT AND VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE AND BURNED COMPLETELY. NO ONE WILL TELL ME WHY IT BURNED.

KUMHO TIRES ON MY 2018 DODGE JOURNEY IS DETERIORATING AND CHUNKS OF TIRE ARE COMING OFF. TIE SIZE ARE 225/65R17

THE VEHICLE HAS DIFFICULTY GOING UP HILL. WHEN DECREASE SPEED OR STOPS AND YOU WANT TO STEP UP THE GAS, IT TAKES A LONG WHILE. SOMETIME IT SHAKES WHEN YOU POWER ON. THE COMPUTER FREEZES. LOTS OF HESITATION TO GO OR SOMETIMES IT WAS TO KEEP GOING WHEN YOU ARE AT A STOP.

MY CAR STARTED OFF WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND THEN SOON AFTER, AS I SLOWED DOWN AND TURNED, MY ENGINE SHUT OFF, I LOST ALL POWER STEERING, AND THE BATTERY REMAINED ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE MANY TIMES AND IS COMPLETELY RANDOM. (DOESN'T MATTER IF I JUST STARTED THE CAR, I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR 20 MINUTES, WARM WEATHER / COLD WEATHER, IT JUST HAPPENS WHEN IT HAPPENS.) MORE RECENTLY, THE TCS (TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM) WILL TURN ON RANDOMLY. (I HAVE FOOTAGE OF THE ROAD BEING 100% CLEAR WHILE THIS IS ON IN MY CAR.) IT WILL NOT SHUT OFF ONCE IT TURNS ON. IT MAKES IT SO I CAN'T SPEED UP HARDLY AT ALL WHICH OF COURSE HASN'T HAD THE BEST OUTCOMES ON THE HIGHWAY. AND ALONG WITH THAT, IF I'M DRIVING AND TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, THE SPUTTERS QUICKLY FOR A MOMENT AND JERKS THE CAR DOWN AS IF THE BRAKES LOCK FOR A MOMENT. LASTLY, THE CAR RECENTLY MADE CLICKING NOISES AND I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE GAS FILLING UP. (IT SAYS IT'S FULL WHEN IT'S CLEARLY NOT) I'VE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN BEFORE AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAD TO CANCEL A RECENT APPOINTMENT DUE TO THE FLOODING IN IOWA BUT I'M AFRAID THERE IS SOMETHING FAR WORSE THAT THEY WONT BE ABLE TO FIX, LIKE LAST TIME. I'M SURE THIS IS A GREAT VEHICLE, BUT I GOT A LEMON FOR SURE. THERE'S CURRENTLY 8,155 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND I BOUGHT IT NEW AS OF 10/01/2018. CLEARLY SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.

WHILE WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO GO, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED (WAS IN MOTION) AND STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I CONTINUED TO PUSH DOWN THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD AND PUMP THE BRAKE TO MAKE THE CAR STOP BUT IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT GO DOWN. MY BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT ON ME ENDED UP STOPPING MY CAR. I PULLED OVER TO THE LEFT SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AS MUCH AS I COULD AND PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND CALLED HIGHWAY PATROL. *DT*JB
