I have an 05 Dodge Magnum RT 5.7L Hemi, that intermittently stalls after filling the gas tank, and continues to do this until gas goes down a little. After dealing with/living with this problem for a while, I finally took my car to a shop and told them what was happening. They told me I needed to replace the right fuel pump module, which I did. This was 02/19/2016, at a cost of $287.94. The car had78,728 miles on the vehicle at this time. This did not fix the problem. I told the shop this, and I was told they couldn't find any other problem. After which I learned to live with it by not filling the tank up all they way. Recently I was not paying close enough attention when putting gas in, because I was washing my windshield. The car filled up until the pump clicked off. Upon leaving the gas station in morning rush hour traffic, my car immediately stalled. I was nearly rear ended. it took about 10 to 15 seconds to restart it. I was able to make the next green light to merge onto freeway, so I didn't need to slow down. (I should mention that the stalls only occur at slow speeds and stops, after the car has been filled with gas.) I had to slow way down to merge, and my car again stalled. I finally go it to start again only to have this happen 6 more times in stop and go traffic in 1 mile! Even though I was able to get to the right shoulder of the freeway until I could turn off, I caused major traffic delays. After telling a a co-worker about this, he told me he has the exact same car, which had the exact same problem. He then informed me there was an lifetime warranty to fix this problem, and his was fixed under this warranty a couple of months ago. I have found information regarding this warranty on-line, but nothing comes up when I enter my vin, even though it is the exact same year, make, and model of all the other cars that were fixed. I keep my car in top shape. It has no other issues than this...and I have been dealing with it since 2015!

The malfunction to report is after fueling the vehicle will stall out. There is the sign of the fuel sending unit and fuel pump cycling after the ignition is turned on. This only occurs after topping off the fuel. The safety of operation is the stalling may occur while driving as well as at sitting still. When driving and the vehicles stalls causes the steering wheel to stiffen and the must come to a complete stop, placed in park, turn off the ignition and wait for the possible reset. The problem has not been reviewed on my particular vehicle but has been reported by other 2005 Magnum owners. No other manufacturing process has inspected my vehicle. And there are no warning lights that come to indicate there is a problem.

Vehicle has stalled 3 times in past year and won't start back up. I have mechanic fix fuel pump and other related parts to fuel. It is very unsafe. The car just stalls driving and wants to start but dies on me.

I AM EXPERIENCING AN ENGINE STALL AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK. I HAVE STALLED AFTER JUST LEAVING THE GAS STATION ON MAIN ROADS AND EVEN THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRAFFIC IS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 65+. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS TO REPORT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT SO I DONT HAVE RECORD OF THAT. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER BEFORE TO ASK ABOUT THE RECALL BUT THEY ONLY SAID IT WAS NOT ON THE LIST AND I DID NOT RECEIVE A CALL BACK. I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR AT LEAST A FEW YEARS (I DONT HAVE AN EXACT TIME FRAME) BUT ONLY THIS LAST YEAR DID THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. I HAD THE CODE CHECKED WHILE THE LIGHT WAS ON AND IT WAS NOT FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUE, SO I DONT THINK MY VEHICLE IS REGISTERING THE STALLING.

The vehicle stalled during normal use traveling about 35 miles an hour right after an intersection. MY husband was able to safely make it off the road as we live in a small town he did this by feathering the accelerator pedal. He is a mechanic so he was able to get it home by lightly tapping the pedal. If he pressed the pedal too hard the car stalled without warning so he lightly tapped on it and made it 2 blocks to our home where it has set in the driveway ever since. We spent over $1000 replacing parts such as the throttle body and the fuel pump and sending unit, egr, pcv, crankshaft sensor, plugs,injectors, intake seals, air intake temperature sensor and throttle body which include the throttle position sensor. Before we went for the cam sensor I decided to look up the issue and found so many with the same problem as us. We are veterans on a semi fixed income with a 10 month old daughter and this is our only vehicle we live in a super hot place in northern Arizona and can not afford further repairs as every part seems to be quite expensive. I don't have the fear of it dying while transporting my daughter again as it won't even stay started since the first incident. Additionally there are no codes or dash indicator lights staying on. We will be contacting Dodge in Kingman Arizona today.

When vehicle has been filled up with gas it will intermittently die until it has around 50 miles on it. Usually sputters and dies without warning leaving you with no steering or brakes. Will restart but die until some fuel is ran out. I have scheduled to have the gas tank replaced but the fee is around $150

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE MAGNUM. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND THEN CEASED. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE IGNITION HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER (NAPLETON'S NORTHWESTERN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT 5950 N WESTERN AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60659) AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

FILLED FUEL TANK UP AS USUAL THEN STARTED THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY THE CAR STALLED. I RESTARTED IT AND IT STALLED AGAIN. STARTED CAR AGAIN WHILE PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND IT DROVE A FEW SECONDS THEN A SUPER HARD MISFIRE AND IT CUT OFF AGAIN. FINALLY STARTS AND IDLES TERRIBLY...RUNS TERRIBLY FOR ABOUT 10 MILES THEN IT SEEMS TO BALANCE ITSELF OUT. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING CONSISTENTLY FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS AND ALMOST CAUSED SOMEONE TO REAR END ME A FEW TIMES. I HEAR THERE'S A RECALL OR LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANK BUT NO NOTICE WAS EVER SENT TO ME.

VEHICLE STALLS AFTER FUELING UP. IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM THAT HAS OCCURRED WITH THE X53 FUEL TANK. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. THE HAZARD IS BECAUSE A STALLED VEHICLE IN THE ROAD IS NOW AN OBSTRUCTION AND AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THE FACT THAT THIS ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED ON THE V8 WITH A 19 GALLON TANK AND WAS COVERED BY A CHRYSLER WARRANTY EXTENSION ADMITS THE ISSUE WAS ON CHRYSLER AND SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THESE VEHICLES AS WELL. SERVICE BULLETIN 14-002-14 AND WARRANTY EXTENSION BULLETIN ID-14-01 REFER TO THE EXACT ISSUE AS MY VEHICLE.

HOWEVER THIS IS LISTED FOR 2006 VEHICLES AND I AM REPORTING THIS PROBLEM ON MY 2005 DODGE MAGNUM RT (5.7 HEMI ENGINE). THIS CAN BE A SERIOUS ISSUE IF THE CAR STALLS IN TRAFFIC AS IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS CAR TOOK IT TO THE SHOP BECAUSE THE CAR WAS CUTTING OFF ON ITS OWN WHETHER PARKED OR IN DRIVE WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND IT CAME UP WITH A CODE FOR CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, GOT THAT CHANGED THE CODE WENT AWAY BUT THE CAR STILL TURNS OFF ON ITS OWN AND NO CODES SHOW UP. CRANKSHAFT HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED 2 TIMES&& THE ELECTRICAL THINGS WERE CHECKED JUST TO BE SAFE!&& A FEW DAYS AGO I WAS DRIVING MAYBE ABOUT 35MPH & THE CAR DECELERATED ON ITS OWN AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON.

IT APPEARS FUEL PUMP LEAKING IS DUE TO CRACK ON FUEL PUMP NIPPLE. I ALLOW THIS INFORMATION TO BE SHARED TO THE PUBLIC.

THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK SEAT. IT HAS A LEAK, AND MY CAR HAS BEEN SMEELING LIKE GAS FOR A MONTH NOW WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. I FINALLY TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THERE WAS A PODDLE OF GAS UNDER THE SEAT WHERE THE NIPPLE ON THE FUEL PUMP BROKE. ENGINE STALLS AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK. CALLED SERVICE DEPT. AT NEAREST DODGE DEALER ON 1/26/16. WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WHICH REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL TANK. SERVICE ADVISOR OFFERED TO PUT ME ON THE LIST, WHICH I AGREED TO, AND THEN STATED THERE ARE 10 PEOPLE ON THE LIST, THEN SAID THEY HAVEN'T DONE ONE OF THOSE FOR ABOUT A YEAR. SOUNDS LIKE THE TANK VENDOR IS NOT SUPPLYING THE DEALER WITH ENOUGH TANKS, OR DELAYING THE SHIPMENT OF REPLACEMENT TANKS. THE STALLING PROBLEM IS THE SUBJECT OF MANY NHTSA COMPLAINTS AND MATTER WAS "RESOLVED" BY EXTENDING WARRANTY ON THE TANK TO LIFETIME WARRANTY, BUT THIS DOESN'T HELP IF THE VEHICLE OWNER HAS TO WAIT FOR YEARS FOR THE DEALER TO GET A REPLACEMENT TANK.

THIS HAPPENS ABOUT 1 IN 10 TIMES I REFUEL. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND I HAVE REPLACED, PURGE VALVE, CHARCOAL CANISTER, AND VACCUM LEAK VALVE. NO HELP. WHEN IT QUITS, I HAVE TO RESTART, WHICH IT DOES, BUT EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE DOES NOT STOP COMPLETELY, IT ALWAYS SHUDDERS FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER FILLING. THERE AS A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES, BUT ONLY FOR 5.7 LITER ENGINES. THE PROBLEM IS THE ROLLOVER VALVE. CHRYSLER REPLACED THE TANKS ON THE 5.7 LX CARS, BUT WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM ON THE 3.5 AND 2.7 LITER CARS. THIS IS A PATTERRN FAILURE AND A SAFETY ITEM.

I WOULD LOVE TO GET THIS FIXED "CHRYSLER IS EXTENDING THE FUEL-TANK WARRANTIES ON 153,817 2006 CHRYSLER 300, DODGE CHARGER AND MAGNUM VEHICLES AFTER COMPLAINTS OF ENGINE STALLING AT LOW SPEEDS, ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. NHTSA ANNOUNCED IT HAS ENDED ITS PROBE INTO THE 2006 CHRYSLER 300, DODGE CHARGER AND MAGNUM VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 5.7-LITER AND 6.1-LITER HEMI V8 ENGINES. VEHICLE STALLS AFTER GETTING FUEL AND ONLY WHEN FILLING UP THE TANK TO FULL, WE DON'T TOP OFF THE TANK AFTER THE FUEL SHUTS OFF. WE NOW HAVE TO GUESS WHEN TO STOP FILLING THE TANK WITH HOW MANY GALLONS TO ADD SO IT IS 1 GALLON OR SO BELOW FULL. THE CAR WILL STALL AFTER FILLING UP AND HAVE TO RE-START IF GOING AT SLOWER SPEED (5-15 MPH) VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE A GAS STATION OR STOP LIGHT. IF AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THEN THE CAR WILL STILL TRY TO STALL AND JERKS AND SLOWS DOWN. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY FOUND AN OVERFLOW VALVE STICKS OPEN AND LET'S RAW FUEL DOWN A TUBE AND BASICALLY FLUIDS THE ENGINE. THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE GAS TANK $3,000 DOLLARS AFTER LABOR. *TR

I AM IN THE MILITARY CURRENTLY STATIONED IN GERMANY AND MY 2005 DODGE MAGNUM HAD TO GET A INSPECTION BEFORE I CAN DRIVE. TODAY WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR THE INSPECTION I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS INOPERABLE AND WILL BE PUT IN STORAGE UNTIL I CAN GET IT FIXED. THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE TANK AND ON THE VERY BOTTOM IT LOOKS LIKE THE OWNER PRIOR TO MYSELF HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND TRIED TO SEAL IT WITH SOME TYPE OF ADHESIVE TO FIX IT. WHEN I PURCHASED MY CAR 2 1/2 YEARS AGO THE DEALER DIDN'T TELL ME THAT INFORMATION SO I NEVER KNEW THERE WAS A TEMPORARY FIX TO A SERIOUS PROBLEM. SO NOW I AM FORCED TO PAY OR A RENTAL CAR AND PAY WELL ABOVE THE PRICE I WOULD PAY IN THE UNITED STATES BECAUSE I HAVE A LEAK AND WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2010 THERE WERE ONLY 60,000 MILES. I STARTED SMELLING GAS SO BAD THAT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE. I HAD IT CHECKED. THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK WAS LEAKING, WHICH IS UNDERNEATH THE BACK SEAT WHERE MY CHILDREN SIT. IT COST ABOUT $400.00 TO FIX. HOWEVER, I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TWICE BECAUSE OF THE "O" RINGS. (THAT IS WHAT THEY CALLED IT AT THE PLACE I GOT MY CAR FIXED) THEY SAID THAT THE MANUFACTURE CHANGED THE PART SO THEY HAD TO OF KNOWN THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD HAVE RECALLED IT. A GAS LEAK SITUATION, WHEN I HAVE FOUR CHILDREN IN THE CAR COULD HAVE TURNED INTO SOMETHING MORE THEN JUST A GAS LEAK. THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD HAVE MADE THIS PROBLEM PUBLIC. *TR
