This is the second time I have been stuck on the side of the road showing that my car has a quarter tank of gas and it just dies on me. I was rescued with some fuel and it started right back up again. Upon checking for recalls for this issue, I came across some 2005 to 2006 Dodge magnums or chargers with fuel tank recalls. I called Chrysler and they are saying my vin does not apply to the fuel tank recall. How is it, I am having the same exact issue as those vin’s affected by this recall. I think it is something to look into. I have gone on Dodge forums and read people’s stories about the same issue as I am having and I am sure they are unaware of the steps they can take with the NHTSA to file a complaint where an investigation could be imminent. Please advise. This has happened more than once so now I consider an empty tank when I am at a quarter tank reading on my gas meter.
The engine in my 2006 dodge Magnum has begun stalling out after fueling precisely as described in NHTSA action number PE13016. The first time it happened I was in the middle of a U-turn at a busy intersection. The engine died and I lost power steering and power brakes. I was able to brute-force the steering wheel and narrowly avoided hopping the curb and hitting the light pole on the corner. This light pole might have just as easily been a pedestrian. I called my local Dodge dealer (Ontario Dodge, Ontario California) to explain the problem and arrange to bring the car in. I let them know that I was aware that this issue was addressed under NHTSA action number PE13016 and should be covered under the lifetime warranty extension. I was told by the service adviser that I am required to drop off my car and that it would be 7-10 days before they would look at it. I suggested that they put me on a list and I could bring my car in 7-10 days at a time when they were able to look at it. They were unwilling to do this. They're insisting that my car sit in their lot for 7-10 days before they will even look at it. This isn't a scheduling issue. I can go on their website today and schedule my car for any other service tomorrow. No, this is a punitive action. Clearly they don't want to do the repairs and they're hoping I'll just go away by making it unreasonably difficult; not to mention expensive considering that a rental car will now be required. Chrysler and their dealers are not acting in good faith with regards to their agreement with the NHTSA and PE13016. In my experience and opinion they're doing whatever they can to evade these repairs. I'm a little disappointed that a full recall wasn't ordered. The agreement the NHTSA made with Chrysler left them with a little too much wiggle room in my opinion.

I HAVE OWNED THIS 2006 DODGE MAGNUM SE V6 2.7L FROM NEW, BOUGHT IN APRIL 2006, THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS WITH THE CAR STALLING, WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, HAPPENING TODAY WHEN TURNING LEFT AT A STOP LIGHT AND STARTING UPHILL. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER PULLING TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT POWER, COMING TO A STOP, PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, AND RESTARTING. I MADE IT BACK HOME, BUT THE CAR HAS BEEN CRANKING OVER AND NOT STARTING WHEN IN MY GARAGE, THIS AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. I'VE HAD THIS ISSUE HAPPEN BEFORE FROM 2006 ONWARD TO TODAY, ONLY A FEW TIMES A YEAR, AND CHANGED OUT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY EACH TIME AND THOUGHT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT THE CAR HAS NEVER STALLED WHILE DRIVING BEFORE NOW, ONLY WHEN SITTING AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE COVERAGE WAS EXCLUDED FOR THE VEHICLE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. I PURCHASED A 2006 DODGE MAGNUM LAST WEEK ON 4/4/2019 ODOMETER READING AT 109, 545. 2 DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IT NEEDED FUEL AND I FILLED THE GAS TANK. I THEN LEFT THE GAS STATION. WITHIN LESS THAN A MILE THE ENGINE STALLED AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES WITHIN 1 MINUTE AND LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE GAS STATION. SINCE I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, I COULD NOT JUST PULL OVER. I CONTINUED OFF THE MERGE AND INTO THE HIGHWAY. THEN IT STOPPED. WITH HESITATION I CONTINUED DOWN THE HIGHWAY. ABOUT 20 MILES DOWN THE HIGHWAY LATER AND DRIVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH, I ACCELERATED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GO UP A SMALL HILL AND MAINTAIN THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH. THE CAR AGAIN TRIES TO STALL OUT AND SHUT OFF AND IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS 3 MORE TIMES. I HAD TO DRIVE YET ANOTHER 50 MILES TO MAKE IT HOME AND I WAS VERY UNEASY THE WHOLE TIME. I DID MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL INSIDENTS. THE INCIDENT WAS VERY UNSETTLING. I DREAD WHAT HAPPENS THE NEXT TIME I PUT GAS IN IT AS THIS SEEMED TO BE THE TRIGGER OF THE INCIDENT. I WENT HOME TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE AND SURE ENOUGH THIS A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG DODGE MAGNUM OWNERS. APPARENTLY THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR AN ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK. MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW UP OR QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL BUT IS INDEED HAVING THIS SHARED PROBLEM. I FEEL IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE ON THE HIGHWAY. CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY AND OR DEATH TO MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS AND ANY OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED AND ADDRESSED! I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO START THE CAR WHEN IT HAS CUT OFF IN THE PARKING LOT, AND IF IT STALLED WHILE DRIVING, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO KEEP IT RUNNING BY "FEATHERING" THE ACCELERATOR UNTIL IT STARTS TO RUN NORMALLY. I HAVE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHER OWNERS WITH SIMILAR VEHICLES TO MINE, EACH HAVING THE 6.1L HEMI ENGINE OR THE 5.7 HEMI. IT APPEARS THAT I MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, WHERE THE FUEL SHUT-OFF FLOAT FAILS TO PERFORM PROPERLY. I READ THAT THE NHTSA PE13016 WAS ISSUED THAT RELATES TO THIS PROBLEM. I NOTICED THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE FULL TANK AND THE STALLING AFTER QUITE SOME TIME AS THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH TO FIND THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 300, CHARGER AND MAGNUM. I'VE ALSO READ ARTICLES ONLINE STATING THAT YOU INVESTIGATED THE ISSUE AND FOUND CHRYSLER AT FAULT. WITH THIS FINDING, I WOULD LIKE CHRYSLER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AT THIS TIME I HAVE NOT CONTACTED CHRYSLER AS I'D LIKE TO FIND OUT IF THEY WILL INDEED FIX THE PROBLEM WITH A REPLACEMENT. AFTER ALL, THIS IS WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO. I ALSO READ THEY WERE MAILING OWNERS, BUT SINCE OWNING THE CAR SINCE 2013, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CONTACT FROM THEM CONCERNING THE FUEL TANK ISSUE. WHAT PATH DO YOU SUGGEST I TAKE TO REMEDY THE SITUATION OF A FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT BY CHRYSLER? REGARDS.

LOCAL DODGE DEALER (HALL DODGE) HAS HAD CAR FOR SIX WEEKS+ AND HAS FAILED TO CORRECTLY DIAGNOSE & REPAIR. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM INVOLVES FUEL TANK VALVE, AS IT IS MORE PREVALENT (SEE MANY ONLINE POSTS OF IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS SINCE 2005 AND BEFORE) AFTER FULL FUEL FILL AND PERSISTS UNTIL UNRESTRICTED FUEL APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN USED TO SUFFICIENT DEGREE. DEALER HAS REPLACED UNLIKELY ITEMS SUCH AS SUNROOF MODULE AND THE ABS MODULE IN FUTILE AND INEPT ATTEMPTS TO SKIRT THE REAL ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 55 MPH (SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 35 MPH). THE FAILURE RESOLVED TEMPORARILY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. WHEN THIS DOES OCCUR THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE POSITION AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BOTH COME ON AND THE CAR REVS UP LOUDLY UNTIL IT IS SHUT OFF. IT IS DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE GOING 65-70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR DROPS DOWN TO 35 MPH. NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS COLDER IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN INCLUDING AS SOON AS YOU START THE CAR. THERE ALSO IS A LOT OF SHAKING WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY OR WHILE BRAKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DODGE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE SUSPENSION IS EXTREMELY LOOSE, WHICH AGAIN IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE WHEEL COULD JUST FALL OFF. I ALSO HAVE THE PROBLEM THAT I CANNOT GET THE GEAR OUT OF PARK AT ANY POINT. I DID FIND THE RECALL AND CALLED CHRYSLER, BUT THEY SAY MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL (WHY NOT? IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM). THEY NOTATED IT, BUT HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO HELP ME. I HAVE TO KEEP MY CAR IN NEUTRAL AND PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON ANYTIME I PARK. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS I CANNOT PARK IN SPOTS BECAUSE EVEN WITH THE BRAKE ON THE CAR STILL ROLLS. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE AND SEE THESE ARE ALL COMMON PROBLEMS AND MAY ALL HAVE RECALLS AND I FEEL MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THOSE. *TR

I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK OF MY 2006 DODGE MAGNUM AND DROVE ABOUT 20 MILES INTO TOWN. AFTER MAKING A QUICK STOP AT A LOCAL STORE I ONCE AGAIN GOT INTO THE CAR AND BEGAN DRIVING APPROX. 30 MPH. AS I BEGAN TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ALL POWER WAS LOST TO THE CAR; STEERING BECAME NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE, GAS PEDAL DID NOT WORK AND I BASICALLY WAS DEAD IN THE ROAD. I TURNED THE KEY TO OFF, PLACED THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE. IT STARTED RIGHT UP, BEGAN TO DRIVE AND AT THE NEXT LIGHT NEEDED TO TAKE ANOTHER LEFT; WITH CARS COMING AT ME FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION I WENT TO TAKE THE LEFT WHEN ONCE AGAIN THE ENTIRE CAR LOST POWER..NO STEERING, NO GAS POWER, CHECK OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE ONCOMING CARS DID NOT HIT ME AND THAT I HAD ALLOWED ENOUGH SPACE INCASE THE SAME THING OCCURRED OR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A COLLISION FOR SURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW OTHER TIMES WITHOUT ANY REASON BUT WE ARE ALWAYS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP AND THEN IT MAY OR MAY NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.
