TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 DODGE NEON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED AND CAUSED HER TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT PROPERLY RESTRAIN AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT AND A PASSENGER WERE REPORTED INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE BRAKES (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 01V154000-SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: POWER ASSIST: VACUUM) BUT NOT FOR THE SEAT BELT AND AIR BAGS. AFTER THE CAR WAS SERVICED FOR THE POWER BRAKE VACUUM RECALL, THE "NEW" VACUUM HOSE FELL OFF WITHIN 3 MILES. THE ENGINE REVED TO 2000 RPM AND THE BRAKES WERE ALMOST INOPERATIVE. AFTER STOPPING THE CAR I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW HOSE COMPLETLY OFF ON THE ENGINE SIDE. I REPLACED THE HOSE AND CONTINUED ON. I INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE PROBLEM AND OF MY REPAIR THEY SAID THEY WOULD TALK WITH THE MECHANIC.*AK

I BROUGHT MY CAR IN OCTOBER OF 99 AND I'VE BEEN THROUGH 11 BRAND NEW TIRES FOR SOME UNEXPLAINED REASON I KEEP HAVING BLOWOUTS ALL THE TREADS ARE INTACT BUT THE SIDES OF THE TIRES END UP WITH CHUNKS MISSING FROM THEM. I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY DOING ABOUT 30 WHEN I FELT MY CAR PULLING AWAY FROM ME AND I COULD BARLEY CONTROL IT SO I PULLED OVER TO CHECK IT OUT N THERE WERE 2 CHUNKS MISSING OUT FOT THE OUTER SIDE OF THE TIRE FROM IT BLOWING OUT AND THE INNER SIDE OF THE TIRE LOOKED LIKE SOMEONE TOOK A CAN OPENER TO IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE 4 ORIGINAL TIRES MY CAR CAME WITH DID THE SAME THING THOSE TIRES WERE REPLACE AND MY TIRES CAN ONLY BE REPLACED BY GOOD YEAR MODEL P185/60R15 NO OTHER TIRE FITS I HAD 4 TIRES REPLACED IN MAYOF 2000 THEN I REPLACED ANOTHER 3 BECAUSE OF THE SAME PROBLEM IN FEB2001 ALL AT MY OWN EXPENSE AND IT IS NOW JULY AND A NOTHER TIRE BLEW IM SICK OF IT.
