THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY A FRIEND, BUT THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.

THE RECALL INCLUDED VEHICLES IN THE VIN LAST 8 DIGITS WS501493 TO WS771681. MY 1998 DODGE RAM 1500 HAS A LAST EIGHT DIGITS OF [XXX]. THUS, IT DOES FALL WITHIN THE RANGE OF RECALLED VIN NUMBERS. HOWEVER, FOR SOME REASON MY TRUCK IS NOT DESCRIBED AS ONE OF THOSE RECALLED. HOWEVER, I HAVE AN AIRBAG LIGHT THAT IS ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL MOUNTED CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK IT SEEMS TO ME THAT BOTH OF THESE ARE INDICATIONS OF A DEFECTIVE CLOCKSPRING JUST AS ON THE RECALLED VEHICLES. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GET THE HORN TO WORK. DODGE DEALER IN WASHINGTON SAID IT NEEDED REPACKED BUT I WAS LEAVING FOR TEXAS AND TIME WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO WAIT FOR THE PARTS. UPON ARRIVAL AT BEAUMONT, TEXAS I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MIKE SMITH AUTOPLEX DODGE. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE COULD NOT BLOW THE HORN AND SAID SHE WOULD ORDER A REPACK AND CALL ME WHEN IT CAME IN. TWO MONTHS LATER I FOUND OUT FROM HER THAT THE MANAGER CANCELED IT AND REFUSED TO FIX THE HORN UNDER THE WARRANTY. EVERY YEAR I WIRE A MICKY MOUSE RIG ON THE COLUMN WIRED DIRECTLY TO THE HORN TO PASS INSPECTIONS. RECENTLY HAD SERVICE AT MIKE SMITH AND THE SAME SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE HORN NEEDED REPACKED, SAID CRYSLER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE HORNS AND DID NOT KNOW WHY THE MANAGER HAD REFUSED TO FIX IT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS UNSAFE TRUCK SINCE 1998 AND HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS AND NEVER ABLE TO USE THE HORN TO WARN VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS OF DANGER. THE MANAGER THAT REFUSED TO FIX IT ADMITTED THAT DODGE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE HORNS ON THESE TRUCKS. AFTER FOOLING WITH IT FOR A WHILE HE DID GET IT TO BLOW, ONLY TIME ANYONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO BLOW THE HORN AND IT TOOK HIM TWO HANDS AND A LOT OF PRESSURE. THESE TRUCKS ARE DANGEROUS. *NLM

ON JULY 22ND 2002 I WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, A FORD TRUCK HIT ME FROM BEHIND DOING 35MPH. THE IMPACT PUSHED ME INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME IT ENDED UP BEING A 5 CAR PILE UP. IN WHICH MY TRUCK FRONT AND REAR BUMPER WAS SMASHED IN. I WAS THROWN FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING SEVERE PAIN DAYS LATER. I WAS REALLY SURPRISED THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE REAR DRIVERS PANEL BENT AND ALSO THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT RADIATOR WAS SMASHED IN.. IT CAUSED 3700.00 DAMAGES TO MY TRUCK AND 2500.00 TO THE CAR(HONDA) IN FRONT OF ME.*AK

MY CHOICE THE FIRST TIME ACCORDING TO THE DODGE DEALER WAS TO LET IT GO AND RISK COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE STEERING OR REPLACE IT. I REPLACED IT. NOW 17 MONTHS LATER IN MAR 2002 THE GRINDING HAS RETURNED. WHILE I FACE THE PROSPECT OF REPLACING THE STEERING ONCE AGAIN IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR FREQUENT WEAR AND TEAR OF A STEERING SYSTEM. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SC, BUT HAVE SINCE MOVED TO UTAH. I DO NOT USE THE VEHICLE FOR OFF-ROAD RECREATION OR FOR HEAVY LOADS. I HAVE ONLY USED THE VEHICLE ON 3 OCCASIONS FOR TOWING. I TRAVELED ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC (NO BRAKES NO STEERING) AND HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER HEAD-ON AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH, AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HAD MY STEERING NOT LOCKED UP THIS WOULD HAVE ONLY BEEN A MINOR ACCIDENT, NOW MY TRUCK IS TOTALED.*AK

WHILE DRIVING 35 - 40 MPH, HAD A FRONTAL IMPACT WITH A TREE WHICH CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AND PASSSENGER'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANTS IN THE CRASH. DEALER SAID THE IMPACT WAS HARD ENOUGH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

RECALL REPAIR WORK ON THE AIR BAG MODULE AND COVER COMPLETED, HOWEVER COVER IS LOOSE WHICH COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MODULE.
WHILE DRIVING AT 55MPH THE CONSUMER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD-ON, DRIVER'S SIDE/PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY, RESULTED IN AN INJURY AND A DEATH. *AK *ML
CONSUMER EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. DURING A FRONT COLLISION IN WHICH THE CONSUMER REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. MANUFACTURER HAS YET TO BE CONTACTED.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH ANOTHER CONSUMER MADE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF THE CONSUMER, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO HIT THE VEHICLE ON THE LEFT SIDE AT 35 MPH, AND THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. ALSO, WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, THEY LOCKED UP. THE CONSUMER WAS HURT IN ACCIDENT. *AK

CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT 55 MPH WHEN REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND THE AIR BAGS ON THE DRIVER' SIDE OR THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CONSUMER WAS KNOCKED OUT. *AK
REA RAXLE FAILED, CAUSING THE TIRE WHEEL AND HUB TO SEPERATE FROM THE AXLLE. ALSO, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES FAILED,CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE,RESULTING IN A COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, EVEN AFTER VEHICLE ROLLED OVER FOUR TIMES.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 55 MPH THE DRIVER ACCIDENTLY HIT THE CURB. WHILE TRYNG TO RECOVER THE DRIVER WENT OFF THE CURB AND APPLIED BRAKES, THE VEHICLE SKIDDED VIOLENTLY AND LOCKED UP AS IF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AT ALL. VEHICLE SKIDDED INTO THE CURB AND THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HUB AND WHEEL SEPERATED FROM THE AXLE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FLIP FOUR TIMES, AND NEITHER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. 7810022 DUP OD 780994; POSTED ON 09-07-1999. *AK

DRIVER GOT INTO THE TRUCK AND PUT KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND TURNED ON THE TRUCK, AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, CAUSING INJURIES TO THE DRIVER. *AK
