Driving on freeway , lost power Cruise control automatically shut off yellow light shape of a motor came on ; on the upper left side of the dashboard, had to pull over on side of freeway. Able to restart after a little bit. Another time sitting at traffic light shuts off , same light again . Another time had to wait from 11 pm to 3 am before it started and had called a tow truck.. THE RECALL IT FALLS UNDER IS #20V475000 CRANKSHAFT SENSOR , called and filed claim defect # is11686607 . Please Reply

I recently figured out a problem with my truck that is an extreme danger. When you fill up the fuel tank at any gas station, it seems that the fuel enters the vapor canister and makes the engine stall for about a mile before it starts running properly. After several close encounters after filling the tank, I looked upon other threads of Dodge Ram owners and found this to be a common problem that was never addressed by Chrysler and never acted upon by NHTSA. Please look into this and advise a course of action to have Chrysler repair this problem.. It is a matter of time before either I or another with the same problem are seriously injured or killed due to this defect. Many Thanks In Advance!!

My family has owned 3 5.7 HEMI vehicles all ranging from the years of 2002-2006 and they have all had the engine randomly seize up on us while driving almost causing major accidents, two of these vehicles are still owned one in an auto shop. I do not believe that this is a coincidence, I believe this is a manufacturer fault that needs to answer to and possibly pay back everyone effected by this event. The auto shop I have the truck at is Lott's auto in Junction City, KS and they themselves know of this fault as well. This needs to be answered to, it is a safety issue and a waste of money to people who trust Dodge with these vehicles, the auto shop informed me this is with the 5.7 HEMI from all years between 2000-2011. Please investigate this and hold Dodge accountable.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXTRA EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND ALSO TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED FOR APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN MINUTES BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. BUCKEYE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (278 MANSFIELD AVE, SHELBY, OH 44875, (419) 347-5222) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE AND SINCE THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 201,732.

AFTER FILLING TRUCK, AND NOT TOPPING OFF, THE TRUCK ENGINE WILL "DIE" WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING AFTER EVERY FILL-UP NOW. I HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL THEN IT WILL RESTART. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION BUT I HANDLE IT WELL. OUR DODGE CARAVAN DID THE SAME SAME THING IN 2016 AND DODGE REPLACED THE FUEL TANK, FILTER CANISTERS. IT CURED THE PROBLEM. I JUST CALLED DODGE AND THEY LOGGED MY PROBLEM BUT THAT WAS IT! ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. IT DOES NOT THROW A CODE BY THE WAY! CAN ANYONE HELP? THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, CITY STREET ETC. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 90,OOO + MILES ON IT HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER ON THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN ABUSED EVER, AND KNOW THIS HAPPENS PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS EXHAUST LEAKING PROBLEM. HOWEVER, NO ONE HAD THE KEYS IN THEIR HANDS AND THERE WAS NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. IT RANDOMLY STARTED ON IT'S OWN. I FILED A COMPLAINT BEFORE ABOUT IT RANDOMLY LOCKING AND UNLOCKING DOORS, AND IT RANDOMLY HAVING ALL LIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. THIS ONE, A RANDOM START WHEN PARKED IN A GARAGE COULD TURN FATAL. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE.

THERE ARE NO OTHER INDICATIONS SUCH AS WARNING LIGHTS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR TROUBLE CODES. THE VEHICLE WILL USUALLY START RIGHT BACK UP BUT ON 01-07-2016 IT TOOK ALMOST AN HOUR BEFORE IT WOULD RESTART, THAT WAS AFTER BLOCKING TRAFFIC AT A BUSY INTERSECTION FOR 40 MINUTES AND A 20 MINUTE TOW.

WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 TO 65 MPH THE RED LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT ON THE DASH BEGINS TO FLASH, THE VEHICLES ENGINE BECOMES ERADIC, SOMETIMES IT DIES, OTHER TIMES IT REVS HARD AND WON'T CHANGE INTO ANOTHER GEAR, ALL CONTROL OF THE FUEL SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE LOST CAUSING A SERIOUS SITUATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAPPENS TO THE ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY, SOME DAYS YOU CAN DRIVE 70 MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS OTHER DAYS IT WILL GO CRAZY AS DESCRIBED WHEN THE LIGHT FLASHES. WHEN THE VEHICLE DIES ON THE HIGHWAY, IT IS VERY HARD TO STEER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR STOP IT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN 5 DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS AND THE FIFTH BEING A DODGE SERVICE CENTER. THIS DODGE SERVICE CENTER HAS HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 4 WEEKS ABOUT TO ENTER THE FIFTH WEEK AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THE THROTTLE BODY WITH TPS SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR REPLACED TWICE, EGR VALVE REPLACED, PCV VALVE CLEANED AND INSPECTED, PCM REPLACED AND RE FLASHED, THE BATTERY REPLACED, ALTERNATOR REPLACED, ALL 4 O2 SENSORS REPLACED AND THE WIRING HARNESS AND ALL CONNECTORS TESTED AND INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE STILL IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT GAVE UP AND TOLD ME TO COME AND GET MY TRUCK. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND GOT THEM INVOLVED, THEY'RE RESOURCE TECHNICIANS HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOW FOR 2 WEEKS AND STILL NO ANSWERS AND I STILL HAVE NO VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WITH APPROXIMATELY 6500 MILES ON IT AND NOW I HAVE 204000 . THIS IS THE 4TH OCCASION IT HAS STALLED WHILE AT LOW SPEED FOR NO REASON. THE LATEST OCCASION JUST OCCURRED ON08/11/15 WHILE I WAS GOING THREW A ROUND ABOUT. I ENTERED THE ROUND ABOUT TURNING SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT ,HALF WAY AROUND COMING OUT OF THE TURN AS IT WAS STRAIGHTENING THE TRUCK JUST SHUT DOWN. IN ALL THE OCCURRENCES I HAVE BEEN TRAVELING AT LOWER SPEEDS 30 MPH OR LESS. 2 ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. ON THE LAST OCCURRENCE I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE TRUCK WHILE COASTING IN NEUTRAL ,EVEN THOUGH THE SIDE OF THE DASH THAT THE GEAR RANGE IS BURNT OUT SO YOU CANT ACTUALLY SEE WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN. ALL THE TIMES IT HAS STALLED IT HAS BEEN DURING SUMMER MONTHS HOT OUTSIDE AND NO PRECIPITATION. AT TIMES THE TRUCK WILL HIT A LOW RPM WHILE AT AN IDLE BUT WILL RECOVER. THE VEHICLE HAS GONE YEARS IN BETWEEN STALLS FIRST 2 WHEN THE TRUCK HAD LESS THAN A 80K, AND THE LAST 2 STALL OUTS ABOUT A YEAR APART. NO CODES STORED IN THE COMPUTER. TOTALLY RANDOM EVENTS.

WHEN I PURCHASED THIS DODGE RAM 1500 HEMI 5.7 IT HAD A BAD ENGINE. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS FIXED, I NOTICE THE TRUCK WOULD JUST STOP RUNNING OR STALL AND NO ENGINE LIGHT. I WOULD START IT BACK UP AND IT WOULD KILL AT ANYTIME I WOULD SLOW DOWN TO TURN OR SLOW DOWN TO STOP. THIS WOULD HAPPEN 2 TO 10 TIMES A DAY. THEN NOT FOR A DAY OR TWO. WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM. THIS CAN KILL SOMEONE AND I HAD TO STOP MY SON FROM USING THIS TRUCK. WHILE DRIVNG 55 MPH THE VEHICLE JUST DIED OUT I HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER. ONCE I STOPPED THE TRUCK, I PUT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNINITION, I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THE DASHBOARD LIGHT SHOWING A SYMBOL OF A LIGHTENING BOLT, AFTER RESEARCHING I SEE SOME COMMENTS OF IT BEING A WIRE HARNESS OR TRANNY LOOSE WIRING, HAD TRUCK LOOKED AT SEVERAL TIMES AND WIRES WERE CHECKED, BUT THE TRUCK STILL DIES OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES SINCE 2013 ALWAYS WHILE DRING MORE THAN 3 HOURS. I NO LONGER TAKE THE TRUCK ON LONG TRIPS, IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, I WAS THANKFUL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON SHOULDER EVRYTIME.

THIS INCIDENT STARTED TO HAPPEN AFTER A SMELL OF GAS VAPOR SMELL AFTER FILLING TANK. RESEARCHED STALLING AND GAS SMELL, WAS LED TO OTHER SCALP NOTICE FOR HEMI GAS TANK DUE TO ETHANOL GAS CAUSING THE ROLLOVER VALVE IN THE GAS TANK TO EXPAND AND NOT CLOSE. WHEN YOU FILL THE TANK YOU GET LIQUID GAS IN THE PURGE VAPOR CANISTER AND LINE. THIS GIVING YOU THE GAS SMELL UPON FILLING. I HAVE STOPPED FILLING THE TANK PAST 3/4 AND HAVE NOT HAD THE ISSUE SINCE. KIND OF DISAPPOINTED THAT OTHER HEMI MODELS GAS TANKS WERE RECALLED, BUT NOT THE TRUCK EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE SAME ISSUE.

WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND STALLED. MY MECHANIC HAS HAD MY TRUCK MORE THAN I HAVE OVER THE LAST TWO MONTHS AND THE PROBLEM REMAINS UNDIAGNOSED. AFTER RESEARCH, I FOUND DODGE KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN THE 2004 HEMI ENGINE. IN FACT, THEY REDESIGNED THE VALVE SPRINGS IN THE 2005 MODELS. SEVERAL SITES & BLOGS SHOWED OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT DODGE NEVER STARTED A CAMPAIGN OR ISSUED A RECALL. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER (DODGE) AND THEY REFUSE TO ASSIST OR ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. IN THE FALL OF LAST YEAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2004 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CODE THAT CAME UP WAS MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 8. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE FUEL INJECTOR WHICH THEY REPLACED. A FEW DAYS LATER AFTER GETTING MY TRUCK BACK THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CODE WAS MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 6. I TOOK IT TO A VERY TRUSTED MECHANIC WHO STATED IT WAS A ROCKER ARM THAT HAD COME OFF DUE TO JUNK IN THE ENGINE. ONCE IT WAS FIXED AGAIN THE LIGHT CAME ON SAYING MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 8. THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE ROCKER ARM ON THAT CYLINDER AND REPLACED IT. THIS HAPPENED 4 MORE TIMES IN THE NEXT MONTH. THE MECHANIC, WHO IS VERY REPUTABLE, BELIEVES THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR NO MATTER HOW OFTEN IT IS REPAIRED. HE ALSO STATED HE HAS SEEN THIS IN MANY MANY DODGE TRUCKS AND MOST NOTABLY IN THE 474 ENGINE. IT IS AN ENGINE AND SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO LOSS OF THROTTLE WHICH OCCURS VERY OFTEN WHEN THE PROBLEM IS ON GOING AND IS DEFINITE RISK OF CAUSING AN AUTO ACCIDENT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE BEGAN TO RISE, SMOKE BEGAN TO EMANATE FROM THE HOOD AREA, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AND THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC THEN REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT, WATER PUMP, RADIATOR, AND FAN CLUTCH ON SUBSEQUENT VISITS BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 257,098.

AFTER FILLING GAS TANK FULL, ENGINE DIES WHEN BRAKING AND TURNING A CORNER (LOSING STEERING) AND COMING TO A STOP. STARTS BACK UP FINE, BUT STALLS AGAIN ON NEXT LOW SPEED BRAKING OR TURNING A CORNER. VERY SIMILAR TO OTHER ACCOUNTS THAT I HAVE READ. I'VE HAD NEW PLUGS AND O2 SENSORS COSTING MUCHO FOR ZERO RESULT. WHEN THIS OCCURS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A SLOW TURN, I HAVE TO THROW IT UP TO NEUTRAL TO RESTART. ONCE I THREW IT IN PARK GOING SLOWLY, BUT IT WAS DANGEROUS TO SCREECH TO A HALT WITH A CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. I'VE BEEN TOLD THE SAME CRAP BY DEALERS ABOUT THIS AND I KNOW THEY ARE PLAYING DUMB. THE ONLY REMEDY THAT I USE FOR THIS IS SIMILAR TO OTHERS WHICH IS JUST DON'T FILL IT ALL THE WAY UP UNLESS YOU ARE GETTING RIGHT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY TO RUN THOSE SPEEDS AND NOT BE STOPPING. I HAVE TWO ISSUES WHICH I BELIEVE ARE RELATED. THE ANTI ROLLOVER VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK IS STICKING PREVENTING FUEL FROM ENTERING THE TANK PROPERLY AND BUBBLING BACK UP THE FILLER TUBE. THIS HAPPENS WHENEVER YOU ATTEMPT TO PUT IN FUEL AND HAS RESULTED IN MULTIPLE FUEL SPILLS. THE SECOND ISSUE IS AFTER A FILL UP THE TRUCK MAY STALL 4-5 TIMES WHILE AT IDLE AT STOP LIGHTS OR EVEN WHILE ROLLING RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND NO ADVANCED WARNING. BOTH ISSUES HAVE MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES. I REPAIRED MY FUEL TANK BY ADDING AN AUXILIARY ANTI-ROLLOVER VALVE AND PLUMBING IT INTO THE EXISTING EVAP CONNECTIONS. I BOUGHT AN 04 RAM 1500 5.7 HEMI THAT HAD AROUND 80K MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN OCT 2010. IT WAS AWESOME THE FIRST AND A HALF I HAD IT, ONLY MINOR REPAIRS I.E BATTERY, IDLER PULLEY, IGNITION SWITCH. I DID REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON IT AS WELL AS OIL CHANGES. IN LATE MARCH 2012 I WENT TO PUT GAS IN MY TRUCK AND IT WOULD NOT LET ME PUT MORE THAN 10 OR 15 CENTS IN BEFORE IT WOULD "BACK FILL" I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE WITH THAT, THEN IN EARLY APRIL 2012 I WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER RUNNING SOME ERRANDS, THE TRUCK HAD RUN GREAT ALL DAY JUST LIKE NORMAL, BUT ABOUT 8 MILES FROM HOUSE I HEAR THIS "THUNK" AND I HAVE NO POWER AND I HAD THIS AWFUL SHAKING AND RATTLING NOISE. THERE WERE NOT EVEN ANY WARNING LIGHTS TELLING WE THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG, I CALLED SOMEONE TO TOW IT HOME THAT NIGHT. I DID THANKFULLY HAVE ANOTHER CAR TO DRIVE.
