I was driving to work that morning traveling about 40 into the city when all of a sudden I heard a loud noise, I barely could handle the steering wheel to coast it to the side before it came to a complete hault, I look out my window and my drive shaft broke in 2 pieces was passing me on the main road. Front end was on the side shoulder, back end was out in the road. I jumped out of the truck and grabbed up both ends of my drive shafts and put in the back of my 04 dodge ram truck, then started directing traffic on this busy road of morning commuters. Fluid was everywhere on the road so I'm trying to put sand from the side of the road onto the fluid that was on the road that had leaked out my truck all while directing traffic to keep from creating an accident. An law officer came ask was I alright, I answered explained what had happened and he never took a report instead replied with "Seems like you got everything handled" and got back in his car and drove off. I called for a tow service for their assistance and requested it be took to a shop. Where it now sits unrivaled. It was inspected by the mechanic and learned that the pinyin nut had came off cause my rear end to lock up which caused my drive shaft to come out and when it hit broke it smooth into 2 pieces that caused damage to my transmission case. This could have ended very badly for me that day, I'm thankful that it didn't. But now my truck is tore up do to a faulty manufacturers pinyin nut. And I need my truck fixed so I can work and support my family. This was not my doings. I love my truck very much and desperately need it back up and running

I was driving from Colorado to Indiana and all the sudden I heard a noise so I pulled over to the right side of the road. When a man came across the median and got a fire extinguisher from his truck and stated for me and my 3 dogs to get out because my truck was on fire. He stated that the driver shaft was on fire with flames by my gas tank.
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON LOOKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE PINION NUT HAS LOOSENED UP AND THAT CAUSED THE DRIVESHAFT TO BECOME UNSTABLE AND IT HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS THAT HAVE TO BE CHANGED SUCH AS (CRUSH SLAVE, INNER AND OUTER BEARINGS,SPACERS, AND PINION NUT) ALL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED TO THE 2005 DODGE RAM AND THEY RECALLED THOSE TRUCKS JUST NOT THE YEAR OF MINE. I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY AND I AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD WAY IF THE DRIVESHAFT BECAME UNATTACHED OR THE REAR-END LOCKED UP ON ME.

BEFORE WE REACHED THE END OF THE OFF RAMP TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH BUT GIVING THE TRUCK SOME GAS TO ACCELERATE WE HEARD A VERY LOUD POP AND IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK.WE PULLED OFF TO SIDE AND CHECKED UNDER THE TRUCK TO SEE THE SLIP YOLK AND U JOINT OF THE DRIVELINE WERE BROKEN AND THE FLANGE NUT ON REAR END WAS BACKED OFF AND THE REAR END WAS SHATTERED. THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY PARKED IN A SNOW BANK UNTIL I CAN EVALUATE WHAT NEEDS REPAIRED/REPLACED. THERE HAVE HAVEN BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND RECALLS ON DODGE DIFFERENTIALS, I CAN ASSUME DUE TO THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE CLUTCH PACK RETAINER CLIPS FAILING THAT THEY FAILED CAUSING SHOCK LOAD TO THE RING AND PINION GEARS AND THEREFORE SNAPPING THE PINION SHAFT AND WEDGING PINION GEAR AND RING GEAR. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT HAS NEVER BEEN ABUSED, OFF ROADED OR DONE ANY HEAVY TOWING, HAD SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENED AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS AND OR TOWING A TRAILER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC.

THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE FOR THE RECALL FALLS BETWEEN JANUARY 28, 2004 THROUGH AUGUST 3, 2005. THE RECALL STATEMENT ONLY STATES 2005 MODEL YEARS, YET THE DATE RANGE FOR THE RECALL ALSO INCLUDE 2004 AND 2006 MODEL YEARS. RECENTLY I HAVE HAD THE PINION NUT ON MY TRUCK COME LOOSE TO THE POINT THE DRIVE SHAFT FELL OFF AND THE RESULT OF IT ALSO ENDED UP A DESTROYED TRANSFER CASE. UNAWARE OF THE RECALL BECAUSE I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RECALL ONLY INCLUDED 2005 MODEL YEARS, WHEN IN FACT 2004, 2005, AND 2006 MODEL YEARS ARE EFFECTED BY THE RECALL AND OWNERS OF ALL YEARS SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE BUT DID NOT, DUE TO THE VERBAGE OF THE RECALL. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS RECALL THROUGH OTHER MEANS AFTER THE INCIDENT OF THE PINION NUT COMING LOOSE ON MY TRUCK SEVERAL DAYS LATER. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE REVISED TO INCLUDE 2004 AND 2006 MODEL YEARS WHERE THE DATE OF MFR INCLUDES 01-04 TO 08-05 (JANUARY 2004 THROUGH TO AUGUST 2005). THIS RECALL EFFECTS THE DODGE RAM PICKUPS WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATE 9.25 REAR AXLES. AT THE TIME OF MY INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, AS I WAS ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE CITY STREET INTO A PARKING LOT. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY BEING WORKED ON MY BY MECHANIC AND WILL REMAIN SO. I AM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTMENT AT CHRYSLER IN THE FACT THAT THIS ISSUE WAS OVERLOOKED AND CONSUMERS ARE IN 2004 AND 2006 MODEL YEARS AND MAY BE UNAWARE OF THE SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE BUT WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 35-40MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A LOUD VIBRATION NOISE. WITHIN THE NEXT 3 MILES THE TRUCK MADE A LOUD BANGING NOISE, THE TRUCK LURCHED AND LOST FORWARD MOMENTUM. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WHERE I DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT HAD SEPARATED FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND HAD BEEN ROTATING, BANGING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK. THE PINION NUT WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE PINION GEAR. THE SPLINE FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL'S PINION GEAR WAS ASKEW AND FLUID WAS LEAKING OUT. THE TOWING SERVICE INDICATED THAT THE REAR WHEELS WERE LOCKED AND THE WHEELS WOULD NOT ROTATE AS THE VEHICLE WAS DRAGGED ONTO A FLATBED. THE TRANSMISSION SHOP WHO CONDUCTED REPAIRS CONFIRMED THAT THE REAR AXLES WAS LOCKED UP AND THE DIFFERENTIAL WOULD REQUIRE A REBUILD. THIS SITUATION MIRRORS THE NHTSA PRELIMINARY EVALUATION PE14-019 AND LINKED TO CHRYSLER'S RECALL P77 / NHTSA 14V-796, WITH THE DIFFERENCE BEING THAT THIS OCCURRED ON A 2004 DODGE RAM 1500 NOT A 2005 DODGE RAM 1500. THE 2004 DODGE RAM WAS MANUFACTURED WITHIN THE SAME TIME FRAME AS THE 2005 DODGE RAMS IN THE RECALL (JANUARY 28, 2004 - AUGUST 3, 2005), JUNE 2004. IN ADDITION THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLIES BETWEEN THE 2004 AND 2005 DODGE RAM 1500S ARE INTERCHANGEABLE.

MY WIFE WAS LOOKING ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN A RECALL BUT THE DEALER SAID IT WAS VIN SPECIFIC AND MINE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE RECALL!!! THE DRIVELINE ALSO DISCONNECTED FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AT THAT TIME, LEAVING A TRAIL OF OIL ON THE ROAD. THE MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED AND REPAIRED THE VEHICLE INDICATED THAT THE NUT SECURING THE PINION GEAR HAD COME LOOSE, ALLOWING THE PINION TO MOVE OUT OF ITS CORRECT LOCATION. THE RESULT WAS THAT THE AXLES TO BOTH REAR TIRES LOCKED UP. IT APPEARS THAT SIMILAR ISSUES RELATED TO PINION NUTS LOOSENING HAVE BEEN FOUND ON MANY OTHER VEHICLES OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL. RECALLS WERE ISSUED FOR OVER 250,000 DODGE RAM 1500 VEHICLES FROM THE 2005 MODEL YEAR TO CORRECT AN ISSUE WITH THE NUT ON THE PINION. OVER 250,000 ADDITIONAL DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLES FROM THE 2009 TO 2012 MODEL YEARS WERE ALSO RECALLED FOR A PINION NUT ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, MY DODGE RAM TRUCK REAR AXLE LOCKED UP AND THREW THE DRIVESHAFT OUT ONTO THE ROAD. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK, THERE WAS TRANSMISSION FLUID EVERYWHERE. THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THE TRANSFER CASE WAS CRACKED IN HALF. I WAS LEFT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF CATFISH LAKE ROAD. HAD TO CALL FAMILY TO COME GET ME AND CALLED THE TOW TRUCK COMPANY TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED BACK TO THE HOUSE. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON JUNE 20, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 08:00PM. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. MY TRUCK COULD HAVE FLIPPED IF I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL BECAUSE THE REAR AXLE COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATALITY.

UPON RETURNING HOME FROM A ROUND TRIP OF ABOUT 120 MILES A LARGE PUDDLE OF OIL WAS LOCATED IN THE DRIVEWAY WAS NOTICED UNDER THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OF THE VEHICLE. A LARGE METAL PART HAD RIPPED A HOLE IN THE DIFFERENTIAL COVER CAUSING THE OIL TO LEAK OUT. THE METAL PART WAS STILL STICKING OUT OF THE COVER. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO A LOCAL SHOP AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THE CLIP RETAINING THE GEARS ONTO THE CARRIER IN THE DIFFERENTIAL HAD COME LOOSE AND BEEN THROWN THROUGH THE COVER, AND ALL THE FLUID LEAKED OUT. THE ENTIRE DIFFERENTIAL HAD TO BE REBUILT FOR ALMOST $1,800 AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THEN ABOUT A YEAR LATER CHRYSLER DID A RECALL ON THE SAME ISSUE, BUT I WAS TOLD MY TRUCK WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, WITH NO EXPLANATION. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND I EXPECT TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY OUT OF POCKET COSTS, AS WELL AS HAVING THE RECALL DONE TO KEEP FROM HAVING THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN.

I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND NOTICED THE BANGING NOISE AND VIOLENT MOVEMENT WAS COMING FROM THE OTHER HALF OF THE DRIVE SHAFT THAT WAS STILL ATTACKED TO THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS STILL SPINNING WHEN I HAD IT IN GEAR. I BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN FROM 55MPH AND THEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. I GOT OUT TO FIND THE TRANSFER CASE BLOWN APART AND THE REAR END WAS LOCKED. THE TRUCK STALLS AT IDLE OR LOW SPEEDS AFTER REFUELING. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME. IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND THE TRUCK IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. IT HAS HAPPENED AS I AM ENTERING OFF-RAMPS AND PROCEEDING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS. THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VALVE IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT LIQUID FUEL FROM ENTERING THE CHARCOAL CANISTER/EMISSIONS SYSTEM. WHEN THE VALVE FAILS, LIQUID GAS CAN ENTER THE LINE AND FILL THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. AFTER REFUELING, THE PCM ON THE VEHICLE DETECTS A CHANGE IN FUEL LEVEL. THEN, WHEN THE ENGINE MEETS CERTAIN TEMPERATURE AND DRIVING CRITERIA, THE PCM ISSUES A PURGE COMMAND TO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER TO REMOVE THE STORED GAS VAPORS. IT?S AT THAT POINT THAT ALL THE LIQUID GAS IN THE LINE GETS SUCKED INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. THE PCM EXPECTS TO SEE GAS VAPORS ENTERING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND IT IS PREPARED TO ADJUST AIR/FUEL MIXTURES TO COMPENSATE. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT PREPARED TO SEE LIQUID GAS COMING INTO THE INTAKE. THAT?S WHAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. CHRYSLER DOES NOT SELL THE VAPOR/LIQUID VALVE AS A SEPARATE UNIT. ONCE THE TANK IS REPLACED AND THE CHARCOAL CANISTER PURGED, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. THIS PROBLEM IS WELL-KNOWN TO CHRYSLER ACROSS A BROAD RANGE OF VEHICLES, INCLUDING PICKUPS, MINIVANS AND SUVS. CHRYSLER SETTLED WITH COMPLAINANTS ON SOME MODELS AND YEARS BY AGREEING TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO LIFETIME, BUT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM OUTSIDE OF THOSE VEHICLES. MY FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WAS SITTING IN THE WHEEL WELL ON AN ANGLE. LARGE AMOUNTS OF SMOKE WERE POURING OUT OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE, AND RUBBER GOO WAS LEAVING A TRAIL WHERE I DROVE. I JACKED THE CAR AND REMOVED THE WHEEL, AND COULD SEE EVEN MORE. MY WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY WAS SEPARATED AND BROKEN. THIS CAUSED MY TIRE TO SIT ON THE HUB CROOKED AND LEAN AGAINST MY CONTROL ARM. THE HEAT FROM THIS FRICTION WAS SO INTENSE THAT IT MELTED MY CV BOOT, WHICH IS WHY I HAD A RUBBER GOO TRAIL. IT ALSO MELTED THE ABS SENSOR ON THE WHEEL HUB ITSELF. CAUSING MY ABS TO GO OUT. THE HUB ITSELF HAD A PIECE COMPLETELY FALLEN OFF, AS IF A WELD BROKE. THE HEAT ALSO WARPED MY ROTOR, AND CRACKED MY BRAKE PADS IN THAT SIDE. LUCKILY, I DID NOT HAVE ANY WHEEL SEPARATION OR TOTAL FAILURE OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM, CAUSING CRASH OR INJURY. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO UTILIZE BRAKING AND DRIVE HOME AT ABOUT 20MPH WITH HAZARDS ON. THE WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN RECALLED IN SEVERAL YEAR DODGE RAM 1500S, INCLUDING 2004, 2006, AND OTHERS, FOR BEARING ISSUES. HOWEVER DODGE CLAIMED IT WAS ONLY A FAULTY PART IN 2WD APPLICATIONS. NOW WE KNOW THIS IS NOT TRUE. I HAVE A 4WD RAM THAT HAD THE HUB ASSEMBLY FAIL AND A PARTIAL BRAKING FAILURE. I PULLED THE DRIVE SHAFT OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK AND PUT MY FINGER INTO THE HOLE WHERE THE PIN FITS AND THE NUT WAS STILL THERE AND IT HAD BACKED OFF THE PIN. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND SHOWED THEM A PICTURE THE SERVICE TECH'S RESPONSE WAS "[XXX]" WE WILL GET IT TOWED IN AND FIX IT. APPARENTLY HE DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS AN OLDER TRUCK BUT YOU WOULD THINK THAT IF THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS DIFFERENT ON THE NEWER TRUCKS AND OLDER TRUCKS WOULDN'T YOU BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE? THE FAULT CODE IDENTIFIED A FAILURE IN THE SPEED SENSOR IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO I PULLED THE DIFFERENTIAL COVER OFF AND FOUND WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE SPEED SENSOR IN THE BOTTOM OF THE HOUSING. I ALSO FOUND PIECES OF WHAT WAS LATER IDENTIFIED AS C CLIPS FROM MY LSD CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THE INDUCTIVE PORTION OF THE SPEED SENSOR PROTRUDES INTO THE DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING AND WAS HIT BY THE FLYING PIECES OF C CLIPS. THE CARRIER BEARING ALSO HAD A GROVE CUT INTO IT BY THESE CLIPS AS THEY WORKED THEIR WAY OUT. I AM TOLD THAT IF I HAD NOT CAUGHT THIS, IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN CARRIER BEARING FAILURE AND LOCK UP OF MY REAR AXLE. I REMOVED ALL OF THE METAL C CLIP PIECES AND REMOVED THE REMAINING C CLIPS THAT HAD NOT YET FALLEN OUT. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS ANY CONNECTION, BUT MY LEFT REAR LEAF SPRING CRACKED IN HALF ON THE LOWER MAIN LEAF. I HAD TO REPLACE THE SPRING ASSEMBLY AT MY COST. ON DEC. 7, 2006 I HAD MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL SERVICED BY AN ASE CERTIFIED FACILITY AFTER READING NUMEROUS POSTINGS ON SEVERAL ONLINE FORUMS DISCUSSING REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURES FOR THIS VEHICLE AND AFTER I EXPERIENCED A LOSS IN GENERAL PERFORMANCE OF THE TRUCK. AS SUSPECTED AND AS DOCUMENTED BY OTHER OWNERS, THE CLUTCH RETAINER CLIPS OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FELL APART IN THE DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING CAUSING THE ENTIRE REAR END TO FAIL. I AM IN PROCESS OF HAVING ALL MOVING PARTS IN THE HOUSING TO BE REBUILT BY A DRIVETRAIN SPECIALIST AND WILL COST IN EXCESS OF $1000. ON ALL 2002-2005, AND MAYBE 2006, DODGE RAM 1500S EQUIPPED WITH THE 9.25" REAR LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL. THE RETAINING CLIPS ON THE LSD FAIL AND BEGIN GRINDING A RING INTO THE HOUSING. WHEN ENOUGH GRINDING HAS OCCURRED THE CLIPS CAN BECOME FREE DESTROYING THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. IN SOME CASES IT CANS CAUSE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TO LOCK UP. IF THIS OCCURS AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED YOU CAN IMAGINE WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO HAVE YOUR REAR TIRES LOCK UP GOING 75 MPH DOWN THE FREEWAY. MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS HAVE CALLED INTO DODGE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR FAULTY LSD'S. SINCE NO ONE HAS DIED I GUESS THEY DON'T CARE. I KNOW IT IS CHEAPER TO ONLY FIX THE ONES THAT GET CAUGHT WITHIN THE WARRANTY, THEN IT IS TO FIX EVERY SINGLE 9.25" LSD ON THE ROAD TODAY BUT IT IS WRONG. I ASKED THE DODGE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PHONE IF DODGE WOULD COVER THE DIFFERENTIAL AGAIN IF IT FAILS OUT SIDE OF THE WARRANTY SINCE IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON MY VEHICLE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD NO. I WOULD HAVE TO CALL IN A SEE IF THEY COULD DO A GOOD WILL COVERAGE. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE AND IT IS A WONDER, AND PURE LUCK, THAT NO ONE HAS DIED FROM HAVING THEIR REAR-END LOCKING UP ON THEM DOING 75 MPH DOWN THE FREEWAY. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE BEGINNING STAGES OF THIS PROBLEM IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM. I ALSO KNOW A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN STUCK WITH A BILL TO REPLACE THE FAILED UNIT THEMSELVES ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY. THE WIRING TO THE WIRING HARNESS WAS CORRODED. THE DEALERSHIP CLEANED SEVERAL CONNECTORS AND REPLACED A GROUND WIRE. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IF CLEANING THE CONNECTORS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE ENTIRE WIRING HARNESS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED.

AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WILL CROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC WITHIN SECONDS IF THE DRIVER IS NOT PULLING TO THE LEFT IN ORDER TO COMPENSATE FOR THE RIGHT PULL. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE ALIGNED SEVERAL TIMES BY DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AS WELL AS AT ALIGNMENT SHOPS, AND THE ISSUE PERSISTS. DAIMLER CHRYSLER CLAIMED THE ISSUE WAS TIRE RELATED, AND WE HAD THE TIRE DEALER MOVE TIRES AROUND REPEATEDLY TRYING TO MAKE THE PROBLEM GO AWAY. WE HAVE ALSO REPLACED TIRES WITH NO CHANGE IN THE PULL. RECENTLY, WE NOTICED THE PULL IS FAR WORSE WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS A FULL TANK OF GAS, WHICH LEADS ME TO SUSPECT WEIGHT OR WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION IS A FACTOR. WE HAD STEERING RACK AND DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE AT APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES. BOTH WERE REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO EXIST. THERE IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION, IT HAS BEEN OVERHAULED 2 TIMES AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL HAVING ENGINE HESITATION PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES DUE TO THE ABS. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE PULSATES. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE ABS AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.

AFTER APPROX 5 WEEKS I GOT A LETTER BACK THAT SAYS THE AXEL BROKE DUE TO IMPACT AND THEY WERE NOT GOING TO PAY FOR ANYTHING. JUST TYPE IN DODGE AXLES BROKE AND THE INTERNET HAS A LOT OF THE SAME FAILURES RECORDED BY OTHER DODGE OWNERS. THIS IS NOT RIGHT SOMEONE CAN BE KILLED WITH THIS FAULT. FOR CHRISTMAS VACATIONS, I WENT TO DURANGO, MEXICO. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL MY TRUCK, AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AT THAT TIME SO THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT THANK GOD. THE REAR AXEL BROKE, BOTH WHEELS WERE OUT AND THE TRUCK'S BED WAS ON THE FLOOR. *AK

DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON THE 101 FREEWAY IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE CHANGED TO THE CENTER LANE ON DRY ASPHALT PASS A SLOWER MOVING CAR AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE. FACE IMPACTED THE STEERING WHEEL .DON,T RECALL ANYMORE THAN THAT DO HAVE AN ACCIDENT REPORT. THINK THE RIGHT REAR AXLE BROKE OR SOMETHING IN THE RIGHT FRONT SUSPENSION. TIE ROD OR BALL JOINT THE INSIDE OF THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL IS ESTROYED AND WAS OFF. THE TRUCK COMPLETE WITH LARGE BRACKET BROKEN TIE ROD AND BALL JOINTS AND ROTOR . OUTSIDE OF WHEEL IS NOT DAMAGED. RIGHT REAR WHEEL HAS THE BRAKE DRUM/DISC AND PART OF THE BROKEN OFF AXLE STILL BOLTED TO IT.. ALLPAR HAS A REPORT ON DODGE RAM AXLES BRAKING 2002 AND UP.STATES A NEW DESIGN IS IN PLACE FOR 2006. IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM..*AK TRUCK HIT A CONCRETE WALL AND SKIDDED TO A STOP IN THE THIRD LANE OF TRAFFIC ON FIRE UNDER THE FRONT END A FOLLOWING WITTNESS STATED SPARKS WERE FLYING THROUGH THE AIR.. THEY ALSO PUT OUT THE FIRE. MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE AND NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DODGE DENIED ANY RESPONCIBILLITY A CLAIM WAS FILED HAVE THE LETTERS AND EMAIL. THE DEALERS ADDED FURTHER INJURY BY CHARGING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND HIGH INTEREST FOR A NEW MAGNUM SXT.MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO BUY THE RT MODEL.. I DO HAVE THE TWO WHEELS IN QUESTION AT THE SHOP I WORK AT TRI CITY TANSMISSION SERVICE. AND PHOTOS OF THE AFTERMATH.. AT THE BODY SHOP.THEY COULN'T BELIEVE I WALKED AWAY. WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY, I WANTED TRY OUT MY DODGE HEMI POWER. A LOUD TAPPING NOISE EMERGED FROM UNDER HOOD. I WAS SO STARTLED I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND WENT OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH FLIPPING THE VEHICLE OVER MANY TIMES. THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD LIFTER + VALVE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS PULLING OUT FROM A PARKING SPACE AND NOTICED THAT THE RPMS WERE GOING UP, AND THE ENGINE WAS MAKING A FUNNY NOISE. WHEN HE GOT TO THE ROAD AND APPROACHED THE STOP LIGHT THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THEN, VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN AND SHUT DOWN. CONSUMER JUST PICKED THE BRAND NEW VEHICLE UP FROM THE DEALER THE DAY BEFORE. HE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FILTER IN THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMING APART. WHICH MEANT THAT NONE OF THE FLUID WAS GOING TO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS BLEW OUT THE ENGINE.*AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. *TC

2004 DODGE TRUCK EXTRA CAB 1500 HAS PROBLEMS OF STALLING WHILE DRIVING.*MR THE DEALER FLASHED THE PCM BUT THAT DID NOT KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM STALLING. WHILE DRIVING UP A SLIGHT GRADE THE CONSUMER HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHEN IT WENT INTO OVERDRIVE. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *NM
