Several safety-critical systems on my vehicle are failing, and the symptoms match existing recalls shown on Kelley Blue Book for my VIN. However, the manufacturer (Dodge/Stellantis) shows only 4 recalls, all marked completed — despite ongoing issues. 1. ABS / Brake System: The ABS warning light is on continuously, indicating a malfunction in the ABS control module. This disables anti-lock braking, increasing the risk of skidding or loss of control during emergency stops. KBB shows a recall for this issue, but Dodge says it’s either not open for my VIN or already completed. The ABS light has remained on since 2. Front Wheel Bearing: There is a grinding noise and vibration from the front wheel area, suggesting a worn or failing wheel bearing. This poses a risk of steering loss or wheel detachment. No warning lights have appeared for this issue. 3. Transfer Case / 4WD: The 4WD system intermittently fails to engage or disengage, sometimes with clunking noises or jerking. This can cause unpredictable handling or loss of traction. Issue is still ongoing. 4. Electrical System: Intermittent electrical issues include random warning messages, dimming lights, and occasional no-starts. These affect essential safety systems and match known electrical recalls. These issues have not been confirmed by a dealer but are ongoing and present serious SAFETY risks. I believe my vehicle may have been incorrectly excluded from applicable recalls or that prior recall work was not properly completed. These components are available for inspection.
I was adjusting the steering wheel and the power completely shuts off. I had no steering power.
UNKNOWN TURN SIGNALS FAIL TO WORK
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate after the vehicle was idling, the vehicle inadvertently stalled without warning. The failure occurred intermittently and became more frequent. The vehicle was lunging forward while idling and was shifting hard while driving. The contact stated that the coil pack relay might have malfunctioned. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the main fuse box under the hood had exposed fuses and the box was easily accessible. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic and the fuel pump was replaced. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

I'm always having issues with the airbag light coming on while driving it goes away then come back when there is a sudden move and causes something to trigger. also, I'm having issues with my headlight low mode not working I did a lot of research stating that many people are having the same issue and the problems have to do with the fuse box close to the battery. I'm also having an issue with the brake lamp going off on my dashboard not sure what that could be tried so many repairs and nothing seems to work.

DODGE IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. THEY HAVE UPDATED THE PART AND THERE ARE MANY CUSTOMER PAID REPAIRS. THE CONTROL BOX FOR THE HEATING AND A/C SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND BREAKS AT THE BLEND DOOR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE BLEND DOOR NO LONGER WORKS AND IT DISABLES THE DEFROSTER AND A/C. ON COOL OR COLD DAYS, THE WINDSHIELD CAN SUDDENLY FOG UP AND THERE IS NO WAY TO CLEAR THE VIEW AS AIR DOES NOT BLOW IN THAT DIRECTION. ON HOT DAYS, THE SYSTEM CAN NOT PUSH AIR OUT ENOUGH TO KEEP THE DRIVER FROM EXCESSIVE HEAT. THE PART NUMBER IS 68004226AC. THIS PART HAS BEEN SUPERSESSION CHAIN OF ABOUT 4 OTHER NUMBERS AS DODGE CORRECTED DESIGN FLAWS OVER THE YEARS. I WOULD ALSO NOTE THAT BECAUSE THIS INVOLVED A/C AND HEATING, MANY PEOPLE DO NOT NOTIFY NHTSA OF THE CONCERN, BUT IT IS VERY WELL DOCUMENTED AND KNOWN. I HAVE 105,000 MILES ON TRUCK WHICH IS STILL WITHIN THE MILEAGE RANGE FOR COVERAGE. WOULD LIKE DODGE TO REPLACE THIS PART AT NO CHARGE FOR ME IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.

I CANT REMEMBER BUT I BELIEVE I WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THE RPM GAUGE FIRST AND WEEKS LATER I NOTICED ALL THE OTHER GAUGES

BUT SINCE THE OPERATION OF THE TRUCK WAS NOT AN ISSUE, I CONTINUED DRIVING FOR TWO MORE MONTHS WHILE MORE AND MORE IDIOT LIGHTS CAME ON EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS USED, ELECTRONICALLY REPORTING A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN THERE WASN'T ONE. FINALLY TWO MONTHS LATER, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START AT ALL OR EVEN TURN OVER. WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED TO START THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WOULDN'T EVEN CRANK. YET ALL THE IDIOT LIGHTS CAME ON WHICH INDICATED TO ME IT WAS AN ELECTRONIC PROBLEM AND NOT A MECHANICAL ONE LIKE A BAD IGNITION OR BAD BATTERY. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS, OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOORS ELECTRONICALLY WITH THE KEY FOB ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY, DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING THE BATTERY, LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOORS MANUALLY, AND EVEN JIGGLING THE STEERING WHEEL, EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE WOULD START UP COMPLETELY NORMALLY, BUT WITH ALL THE IDIOT LIGHTS ON. THIS WAS ERRATIC AND THERE WAS NO RHYME OR REASON WHY IT WAS HAPPENING OR WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THE SITUATION CONTINUED LIKE THIS ABOUT A WEEK UNTIL THE ENGINE WOULD NOT EVEN SHUT DOWN WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. NOT ONLY THAT, SEVERAL TIMES THE ENGINE CONTINUED RUNNING WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO STOP THE ENGINE FROM RUNNING EXCEPT SITTING IN THE VEHICLE AND WAITING FOR IT TO SPUTTER TO A STOP, WHICH WAS A COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY AND A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AFTER A SUBSEQUENT APPOINTMENT AT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER HERE IN ALBUQUERQUE WHERE THE VEHICLE SAT IN THE SERVICE BAY FOR A WEEK WHILE THE ISSUE WAS BEING EVALUATED, RESULTING IN THE ISSUE EVENTUALLY BEING DIAGNOSED AS A BAD TIPM, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A GROSSLY OVERPRICED COST OF $1600, SINCE THE PART IS AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR LESS THAN $400.

DEALER SAID BATTERY DRAINED AND TIPM NEEDS REPLACEMENT, AND THEN FURTHER INVESTIGATION. EST. $3,000 ALREADY FOR REPAIRS. IN MONTH LEADING UP TO THIS, VEHICLE HAD VIBRATION. DEALERS REPLACED FUEL INJECTOR, REAR END DIFFERENTIAL, BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND CALIPERS, ALL WHICH HAD PASSED AN INSPECTION JUST A COUPLE MONTHS EARLIER. TO NO AVAIL, THE WIPERS ARE NOT WORKING AND AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I FIND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. PEOPLE ARE REPLACING PARTS, SPENDING MONEY AT SERVICE CENTERS AND NOT GETTING THE PROBLEM SOLVED. I LIVE IN THE RAINY NORTHWEST AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT IT IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE IN FRONT OF YOU WHILE NAVIGATING I-5 AT 70MPH AT SOME RANDOM POINT DURING A TRIP. WHEN IT IS VERY HOT AND THE WINDOWS HAVE BEEN UP, THE IGNITION SWITCH WILL NOT TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT TURN AND THE KEY WILL NOT ROTATE FROM LOCKED POSITION. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE MADE NOTES ON THE ISSUE, BUT THEY DON'T SEE A PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR. IF THIS WAS AN ISSUE THAT I WOULD HAVE CONTROL OF CREATING - IT WOULD BE MY PROBLEM. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH SAFETY IN THAT IF I HAD AN EMERGENCY AND THIS HAPPENED I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO START MY CAR. OR, HAVE A CAR-FULL OF GROCERIES AND FIND OUT THE CAR WON'T START!!! BAD ENOUGH I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE CAR TO COOL OFF WHEN THIS HAPPENS. FOR MORE THAN 1 YEAR, THE TACHOMETER IN MY DODGE RAM HAS FUNCTIONED INTERMITTENTLY. ON 3/25/15 I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER-SIDE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHT BULB WAS OUT. I REPLACED THE BULB WITHOUT EFFECT. MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE TIPM MODULE AS THE CULPRIT FOR BOTH THE HEADLIGHT AND TACHOMETER FAILURE. HE WILL REPLACE THE MODULE, AT A COST OF ROUGHLY $1000, WHEN A REPLACEMENT CAN BE OBTAINED. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT IT WILL BE AT LEAST 4 WEEKS FROM THE TIME OF DIAGNOSIS BEFORE THAT REPLACEMENT TIPM WILL BE AVAILABLE. I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 64 E NEAR WILLIAMSBURG SPEED LIMIT ON THE HIGHWAY IS 70 MPH WHICH IS THE SPEED LIMIT AT WHICH TRUCK TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN. NO HARD IDLING, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON JUST TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN. POWER STEERING WAS LOST ALONG WITH THE BRAKES AND COULD NOT CONTROL THE TRUCK. HAD TO LET IT GO AS IT UNTIL I IMPACTED IN A DITCH CAUSING THE TIRE TO COME OFF THE WHEEL WELL, DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE BUMPER. I DROVE AROUND WITH THIS FAULTY TURN INDICATOR PROBLEM FOR AROUND 6 MONTHS. THIS PROBLEM WAS SUCH A NUISANCE FOR ME, AND NOT TO MENTION ILLEGAL! EVERYTIME I TOOK A LEFT TURN I WOULD HAVE TO PLACE MY ARM OUT THE WINDOW AND TURN. THIS WAS SUCH AN EMBARRASSMENT FOR ME. FINALLY I TOOK THE DODGE RAM TRUCK TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT I HAD A FAULTY "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH" AND THAT IT WOULD COST $263.00 TO REPLACE. SO I GLADLY PAID THE MONEY AND GO IT FIXED DUE TO THE UN-SAFE TURN INDICATOR PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS "TURN INDICATOR" PROBLEM, AND IT SEEMS TO BE THAT CHRYSLER HAD INSTALLED FAULTY "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCHES" IN THEIR 06 DODGE RAM PICKUP TRUCKS. WE LIVE NEAR A BUSY HIGHWAY IN THE COUNTRY, AND OFTEN WHEN SOMEONE IS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE TRAFFIC BEHIND WILL PASS ON THE LEFT. IF SOMEONE IS ACTUALLY MAKING A LEFT TURN, BUT THE SIGNAL IS SHOWING RIGHT, THIS COULD LEAD TO A FATAL COLLISION. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, AND THEY SIMPLY TOLD ME TO GET IT FIXED AND HANG ONTO THE RECEIPTS IN CASE THERE IS A RECALL. I ALSO FOUND THAT 2006 DODGE 3500 PICKUPS DID HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH FOR THIS REASON.

BASED ON A THOROUGH TROUBLESHOOTING PROCESS, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TIPM UNIT IN MY 2006 DODGE RAM 1500 SLT 4.7L IS FAULTED / BAD. MY LEFT EXTERIOR SIGNAL WILL NOT FUNCTION AND FLASHES IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ATY A RAPID RATE. PER DODGE, THIS IS INDICATIVE OF A BAD BULB OR SHORT CIRCUIT. I REPLACED ALL BULBS AND THE REAR LAMP CIRCUIT BOARD AS DIRECTED. NEITHER REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. AFTER TWO DAYS OF SEARCHING FOR A SHORT, A DODGE TECHNICIAN AND MYSELF FOUND THE TIPM TO HAVE A HIGH SIDE SHORT WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW CURRENT TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE CIRCUIT TO THE LAMPS. AN INTERNET SEARCH FINDS THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON FAULT OF THE DODGE MODULE IN MANY DODGE MODELS, YET DODGE CONTINUES TO EXPECT THE VEHICLE OWNERS TO PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS. MANY OWNERS SUCH AS MYSELF HAVE THIS ISSUE OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD RESULTING IN A INAPPROPRIATE REPAIR BILL FOR A SAFETY ITEM DODGE KNOWS IS FAULTY AND WILL AT SOME POINT, FAIL, RESULTING IN OTHER SAFETY FEATURES OTHER THAN JUST A FLASHER AND BRAKE LIGHT GOING OUT. AND FILED A COMPLAINT A REP CALLED ME AND STATED THEY WOULD BY HAPPY TO COVER THE COST OF THE PART IF IT WAS DEEMED DEFECTIVE BY AND AUTHORIZED TECH I WOULD HOWEVER HAVE TO COVER THE SERVICE FEES. THERE HAS BE A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT PROBABLY 100 TIMES BUT PAID NOT MUCH ATTENTION UNTIL THIS WINTER. THE TURN SIGNAL LEVEL IS ALSO USED TO TURN ON THE WIPERS ON THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM ARISES WHEN THE VEHICLE LIGHTS ARE TURNED ON, THE WIPERS ARE ON, AND THE TURN SIGNAL ARE TURNED ON. FOR NO REASON THE TURN SIGNAL FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IS THE ONE THAT OPERATES. NORMALLY WHEN YOU ARE TURNING TO THE RIGHT THE TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT TURN ON AND THE LEFT SIDE SIGNAL TURN ON. IN ORDER TO ALLEVIATE THIS PROBLEM I HAVE TO TURN THE WIPERS OFF COMPLETELY. THIS CAUSES A PROBLEM BECAUSE THIS IMPAIRS VISIBILITY AN ALSO IS GIVING OTHER DRIVERS THE WRONG SIGNALS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THIS ISSUE BUT SINCE I RESIDE IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA IT IS A REQUIREMENT THAT WHEN IT RAINS YOU MUST TURN YOUR LIGHTS AND WIPERS THIS HAS CAUSED ME A PROBLEMS SINCE I DEPEND ON THIS VEHICLE AND WHEN IT SNOWS OR RAIN I CANNOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SHIP GAVE ME A CAN OF STATIC GUARD TO SPRAY ON MY SEATS TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING. AT NIGHT WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE TO CUT OFF MY INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS IN ORDER TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYING ON. I HAVE TRIED THE LEMON LAW ETC.
