My truck went into anti-theft mode for no apparent reason and stranded me on a hot day in a parking lot. The engine would not run for more than 2 seconds.
The air bag light is on and it has a recall the lights behind the gages went out and the engine has a knock at times
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact also stated that the vehicle would not reverse whenever the pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the transmission needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVEN'T FIXED IT. WE HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY BUT THEY HAVEN'T FIXED IT. THE DATE AT THE BOTTOM IS THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED BUT IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW YEARS AND THE DEALERSHIP IN TYLER, TEXAS HAS NOT FIXED IT.

THE AIR CONDITIONING LINE TO THE COMPRESSOR HAD A HOLE IN THE RUBBER AND MELTED DUE TO THE FIRE. THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE WIRING, AIR CONDITIONING LINE, HOSES, AND OTHER COMPONENTS BEHIND THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY WERE DAMAGED. THE DEALER (GOLLING CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 2405 S TELEGRAPH RD, BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI 48302, (248) 334-3600) WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
TYPICAL BOLTS SHEARED OFF INSIDE THE BLOCK AND AN EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAK CAUSING A TICK. THIS THE 2ND DODGE RAM THAT I HAVE OWNED. BOTH HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM (MY PREVIOUS TRUCK HAD I TWICE(!) WHILE I OWNED IT). IF YOU LOOK AT ANY NUMBER OF ONLINE FORUMS YOU WILL SEE THAT I AM ABOUT THE MILLIONTH PERSON THAT HAS HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN. LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE HAS THIS PROBLEM. APPARENTLY DODGE HAS RELEASED A STATEMENT (THOUGH I CAN NOT CONFIRM) STATING THAT THE COMBINATION AT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD OF CAST IRON, ALUMINUM, AND WEAK BOLTS MAKES THIS HAPPEN OVER & OVER AGAIN. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND DODGE SHOULD HAVE TO FIX THIS.

TSB# 18-003-08, I HAVE HAD THIS OIL SENDING UNIT REPLACED 2 TIMES WITHIN ONE YEAR AND DODGE HAS A TSB OUT THERE TO FIX IT. ALTHOUGH MY WARRANTY IS OUT OF DATE THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN THE SWITCH STARTS TO FAIL THE UNIT SENDS A MESSAGE TO THE ON BOARD COMPUTER TO TURN ON THE CHECK GAUGES LIGHT AND REDUCES THE RPMS AND STALLS OUT THE VEHICLE. DODGE HAS A TSB TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO DO IT WITHOUT CHARGING. DODGE KNEW THIS ISSUE WELL BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT DID NOT NOTIFY THE OWNERS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. IT HAS NOW BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY TRUCK AND NEARLY CAUSING 2 CRASHES. I HAVE ASKED DODGE VIA CHAT TO APPROVE THE UPDATE TO MY ON BOARD COMPUTER TSB# 18-003-18 AND THEY REFUSE. I DON'T SEE HOW THEY CAN FORCE THE CUSTOMER TO PAY $100 PLUS TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF REGARDLESS. I HAVE NOW HAD TO PAY 100'S TO REPLACE A OIL SENDING UNIT THAT NO LONGER WORKS WITH THE TRUCKS COMPUTER DUE TO DEFECTIVE SOFTWARE USED BY DODGE..

I TOOK IT TO DODGE AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE TIPM WELL HAVE THEM FIX IT GOT THE TRUCK BACK NO FIX THERE THEY DID GET TWO CODES FOR THE TIPM PROBLEM ON THAT DAY ENDED UP BEING THE IGNITION COILS ALL OF THEM HAD TO BE REPLACED PRIOR TO ALL THIS I HAD ALREADY BEEN HAVING STALLING PROBLEM NOT DYING CHRYSLER DEALER IN GREENSBORO NORTH CAROLINA LOOK AT MY TRUCK FAN DIAGNOSTIC SAID IT WAS LOW AMPERAGE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT CAN'T REMEMBER YOU CAN GET AHOLD OF HIM IF YOU WOULD LIKE SO THEY SAID REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY SO I DID THEN THE STORY I JUST STATED TOOK PLACE. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE 7 DAYS AGO. I HAVE DISCOVERED A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT ONLY PRESENTS ITSELF IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFUELING. AT LOW SPEEDS IN, TURNING, OR WHILE MANEUVERING THROUGH TRAFFIC THE TRUCK WILL CHUG AND THEN DIE. LEAVING MY VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND LITTLE BRAKING ABILITY. IT HAPPENED TWICE AFTER FUELING FRIDAY, AND THEN AGAIN THREE TIMES AFTER FUELING TODAY. TWO OF THE THREE TIMES I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WAS ALMOST IN A COLLISION BY UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS BEHIND ME. THE THIRD TIME I WAS TURNING ONTO A SHARP ON RAMP TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. THANKFULLY IT DIED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RAMP AND NOT AT THE TOP WHERE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN TRAFFIC. AND THANKFULLY MY WIFE WASN'T DRIVING, BECAUSE WITHOUT POWER STEERING HER AND MY TWO DAUGHTERS WOULD HAVE LIKELY STRAIGHTENED OUT THE ON RAMP AND FOUND THEMSELVES AT THE BOTTOM OF A STEEP BANK. IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHILE CROSSING A BUSY INTERSECTION A COLLISION WOULD BE HIGHLY LIKELY WITH FATALITIES FOR SURE. THE PROBLEM LASTS FOR ABOUT THE FIST TEN TO FIFTEEN MILES OF DRIVING, AND DIES AT LOWER SPEEDS 0-25 MPH. I HAVE READ ABOUT NHTSA INVESTIGATIONS INTO OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES PRESENTING THE SAME ISSUES, AND WHERE THE WARRANTIES HAVE BEEN EXTENDED ON THE FUEL TANKS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THESE WARRANTIES MUST BE EXTENDED TO THE 2007 DODGE RAM 1500 AS WELL IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS CAUGHT IN TRAFFIC AND KILLED.

ARRIVED AT WORK AND PARKED VEHICLE A LITTLE AFTER 6:00AM. WENT ON MY BUS RUN AND AT ABOUT 7:45AM I RECEIVED A CALL TO RETURN TO THE TRANSPORTATION CENTER. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS LEFT WAS THE BLOCK. I INFORMED MY INSURANCE COMPANY WHO WAS VERY QUICK AND WHOM I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH. I ALSO MADE SEVERAL CALLS TO CHRYSLER CORP., TALKED TO SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO ALWAYS TOLD ME THEY WERE TAKING NOTES AND WOULD CALL ME BACK THE NEXT DAY OR SO AND NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. TODAY I TALKED TO SOMEONE IN THE LEGAL DEPT. AND WAS TOLD THAT MY TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR ANYTHING. I AM VERY GLAD IT WAS NOT PARKED IN MY GARAGE AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE OR THAT I WAS DRIVING IT. I AM IN THE MARKET FOR ANOTHER TRUCK BUT HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT ANOTHER DODGE. I WAS LOOKING FOR A LITTLE REASSURANCE FROM CHRYSLER BUT AS YOU CAN SEE I RECEIVED VERY LITTLE TO NONE. *JS

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 45 MPH I LET OFF THE GAS TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE TRUCK STARTED TO LUNGE FORWARD THEN STOP THEN CONTINUED TO LUNGE FORWARD IT REPEATED THIS PROCESS FOR A WHILE. WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS IT WAS FINE ONLY WHEN I LET OFF IT. AFTER ABOUT 5 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WENT TO AUTOZONE HAD THE CODE REED. THE MAP SENSOR WAS BAD SO I REPLACED IT MYSELF. A WEEK LATER DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE TRUCK BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING, ONLY THIS TIME AT A STOP LIGHT THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AS WELL AS THE BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED BUT IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WENT DOWN THE ROAD ABOUT 1/2 A MILE WHEN HE DIED AND I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT. HAD IT TOWED TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THE MAP SENSOR WAS ONCE AGAIN BAD. THEY REPLACED THE MAP SENSOR THIS TIME AND EVERYTHING WAS WELL FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. WHEN ONCE AGAIN THE TRUCK DID THE SAME THING. TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN THE FAULT CODE WAS THE MAP SENSOR. UPON THEM DIGGING FURTHER THEY FOUND THE PCM WAS ACTUALLY SHORTING OUT THE MAP SENSOR. SO THEY REPLACED THE PCM. THE NEW ONE CAME IN AND THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO REPROGRAM IT. THEY CONTACTED DAIMLER-CHYRSLER WHO SENT THEM ANOTHER PCM THEY RECEIVED THAT ONE AND STILL ARE UNABLE TO REPROGRAM THE PCM. SO THAT'S 3 MAP SENSOR'S AND NOW 2 PCM'S. *TR

MY ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT BLINKS ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME AND DINGS. WHEN I ROLL MY WINDOWS UP SOMETIMES IT TURNS MY RADIO ON AND OFF. I CAN BE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY GAS HAND WILL DROP TO EMPTY AND ALSO MY SPEEDOMETER WILL DROP TO ZERO EVEN IF I AM GOING 60 MPH. MY CARGO LIGHT WILL TURN ON BY ITSELF SOMETIMES AND IF I TURN IT ON IS IT VERY HARD TO GET IT TURNED OFF. *TR

I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK WITH FUEL AND AS I WAS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR STALLED. IT CONTINUED TO STALL FOR ABOUT 50 MILES. NOW EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY TANK IT WILL STALL ON ME UNTIL I DRIVE ABOUT 30-50 MILES AND THE TANK IS NO LONGER FULL. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I CANT LET MY WIFE OR FAMILY DRIVE IT FOR FEAR OF STALLING AND HAVING AN ACCIDENT. *TR

WHILE WAITING IN TRAFFIC FOR LIGHT TO CHANGE AT CORNER OF JACKSON BLUFF ROAD AND HWY 544, CONWAY, SC, ON 4 AUGUST 2012, TRUCK SUDDENLY ACCELERATED EVEN WHEN BRAKE WAS APPLIED. WAS ABLE TO WHIP TRUCK ONTO SIDEWALK AT JACKSON BLUFF RD & 544 TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. IT APPEARED THAT TRUCK ENGINE ACCELERATED TO AS MUCH AS 2000 RPM EVEN WITH BRAKE ON AS FIRM AS POSSIBLE. *TR
