Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 131,000 and at the time of registration, it was discovered on the title that the mileage was 211,492.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BLUEBONNET CHRYSLER DODGE (547 S SEGUIN AVE, NEW BRAUNFELS, TX 78130) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND AN UNKNOWN MODULE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 198,000.

IT WOULD NOT CRANK, YOU COULD HEAR CLICKING UNDER THE HOOD AND YOU COULD HEAR THE FUEL PUMP COME ON. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE WIN MODULE WHICH COST ME $870.00!! (WIN MODULE AND PROGRAMMING) EVIDENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH DODGE TRUCKS. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART?!! DOES IT TAKE A CERTAIN NUMBER OF CRASHES OR DEATHS? THE VEHICLE DIES AND EVERYTHING BECOMES DISABLED INCLUDING ALL OUTSIDE LIGHTS INCLUDING THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS. ENGINE TURNS OFF AND THEN WILL NO RESTART. SOMETIMES THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BUT LATER COMPLETELY FAILS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 2 YEARS THAT THIS TRUCK HAS DIED. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED ON A FOGGY NIGHT. TH ENGINE AND ALL LIGHTS TURNED OFF AT CRUISING SPEED LEAVING ONLY SOME INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS ON WHICH ENDS UP BEIN EVEN MORE OF A DISTRACTION FROM THE SUDDEN OUTSIDE DARKNESS. AFTER TRYING TO FIND THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN THE DARKNESS, THEN YOUR EMERGENCY FLASHERS DO NOT WORK LEAVING THE TRUCK JUST A DARK TARGET IN THE ROAD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. RECENTLY THIS SAME TRUCK DIED A SECOND TIME BUT THANKFULLY AFTER FILLING UP A A GAS STATION. AFTER A QUICK SEARCH ONLINE, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY MANY DODGE RAM OWNERS FROM 2009 TO 2016 MAYBE NEWER VEHICLES AND ALSO OTHER MODELS. THE DEALER REFERS TO THE PROBLEM BEING WITH A TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). I JUST READ THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS FILED ALREADY EVEN WITH THE NHTSA. TRUCK SOMETIMES SHOWS LIFE WHEN IN ACCESSORY BUT WHEN PUT TO ON TRUCK DIES COMPLETELY, OBVIOUSLY NOT GOING TO TURN OVER WITH NO SIGN OF LIFE. MINUTES LATER I CAN COME BACK AND START IT NO PROBLEM. HEADLIGHTS WILL CONSISTENTLY STUTTER OR EVEN TURN ON OR OFF WHILE PARKED OR MOVING. LASTLY WHILE DRIVING SOMETIMES ALL POWER AND ELECTRICAL SHUTS OFF AND TRUCK IS COMPLETELY DEAD WHILE GOING ANY SPEED. I HAVE NOT FOUND A CERTAIN SPEED IT DIES BECAUSE IT HAS SHUT OFF IN PARKING LOTS AND GOING DOWN HIGHWAY. POWER STEERING IS GONE AND ITS SCARY TO PULL OF SIDE OF ROAD WHEN SOME ROADS DON'T HAVE MUCH TO WORK WITH OR GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND LOSING ALL POWER.

WAS WITHOUT TRUCK FOR SIX MONTHS. ALL SYSTEMS WERE AFFECTED AND WOULD NOT WORK. IT HAD BURNED OUT STARTER AND AFFECTED ALL ELECTRICAL SYATEMS.

IT HAS CAUSED MY WINDOW DEFROSTER, WIPERS, DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS RANDOMLY NOT TO WORK. PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING ELECTRICAL. MY PASSENGER AIRBAG GOES ON AND OFF, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MY ABS BRAKE SYSTEM HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING AND LOCKING UP ON ME. THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THERE'S COLD WEATHER OR RAIN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY DEFROSTER OR WIPERS ARENT WORKING OR MY TURN SIGNAL IS CUTTING OUT. THE TIPM ON OTHER JEEP AND CHRYSLER PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY DODGE HASNT ISSUED A RECALL. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED FARTHER.

VEHICLE SITS OVER NIGHT AND BATTERY DRAINS. NUMEROUS FORMS ONLINE ADVISED THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING THAT ONLY HAPPENED TO ME BUT, ALSO HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS OF OTHERS. IT HAS BEEN TO THE CERTIFIED DODGE DEALER FOUR TIMES WITH NO RESULTS. I REPLACED THE TOTAL INTEGRATED CONTROL MODULE, WENT THROUGH 3 BRAND NEW MOPAR BATTERIES, HAD IT PUT ON THE DIAGNOSTICS TOOL AT THE DEALER AND AFTER 3-4 WEEKS OF GUESS AND CHECK THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. SOMETHING IS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN OVERNIGHT. SOMETIMES IT TAKES ONE NIGHT, SOMETIMES 3-4 AND THE TEMP OUTSIDE DOES NOT PLAY ANY ROLE IN IT. THE GEARS ON ACTUATOR FAILED CAUSING A LOSS OF HEAT IN MY 2009 RAM 1500. CHRYSLER INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED AND THAT THEY WILL NOT PERFORM THE RECALL AGAIN. WHEN THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF THE KNOWN ISSUES, SO THE PARTS WERE NEVER REPLACED. NOW THE PARTS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL IS FAILING. I DO NOT HAVE HEAT IN MY VEHICLE AND BECAUSE OF THE COLD WEATHER MY WINDOWS FOG UP MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE.

THE CONTACT FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V2400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) ONLINE FOR THE 2010 RAM QUAD CAB REGARDING THE SAME FAILURE. WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AND THE TRUCK JUST DIED. I TRIED TO START IT BACK UP AND HEARD A CLICKING NOISE. THINKING THAT IT WAS JUST A BATTERY PROBLEM, I PUT A JUMP BOX ON IT AND IT STARTED. TOOK THE JUMP BOX OFF AND IT DIED. KNEW IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP. THEY PUT A NEW ALTERNATOR ON IT AND STILL WAS NOT CHARGING. CHANGED THE BATTERY AND STILL WAS NOT CHARGING. CHECKED THE FUSE BOX AND FOUND A BLOWN FUSE FOR THE PCM AND CHANGED IT. IT STILL WAS NOT CHARGING. LIKE ANYONE ELSE AND PRODUCT OF ELIMINATION, VOLTAGE REGULATOR. GO TO CHANGE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR AND FIND OUT THAT THEY CHANGED IT TO A MODULE THAT THEY PUT INSIDE THE COMPUTER. NOW, I HAVE TO HAVE THE WHOLE COMPUTER CHANGED OR DO WITHOUT MY TRUCK WHILE THE COMPUTER IS FIXED. WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO TAKE SUCH A SIMPLE PART AS A VOLTAGE REGULATOR THAT COMMONLY GOES OUT AND COMBINE IT WITH A MAJAR PART SUCH AS A COMPUTER THAT COST $100'S OF DOLLARS TO FIX?

TRUCK IS DIFFICULT TO START UNLESS YOU WIGGLE THE KEY FOB, IT ALSO SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD DUE TO THE KEY ISSUE. IF YOU ADJUST THE KEY, YOU CAN RESTART IT, CAN ALSO START IT BY PUTTING YOUR FINGER IN THE HOLE FOR THE KEY TO GO INTO WITH THE FOB NEXT TO IT. MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN INITIALLY STARTING IT AND IF YOU HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. WE HAVE REMOVED ALL KEYS FROM THE FOB BUT IT CONTINUES TO CUT THE TRUCK OFF WHILE DRIVING. I AM HAVING A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION WITH MY TRUCK. I REMOTELY STARTED IT ONE COLD MORNING, APPROXIMATELY 20 DEGREES. WHEN I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE TRUCK WITH THE KEY FOB, NOTHING WORKED. I MANUALLY UNLOCKED THE DRIVERS DOOR AND OPENED IT TO FIND AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF ISSUES. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON. THE WINDOWS WERE STILL COMPLETELY FROSTED UP. I NOTICED THAT THE DEFROST WASN'T WORKING, INCLUDING THE HEATED SEATS, HEATED STEERING WHEEL, AND HEATED MIRRORS. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE WERE NO LIGHTS OR POWER TO THE ENTIRE RADIO CLUSTER, HEAT & A/C CONTROLS, PARKING ASSIST BUTTONS, HAZARD BUTTON, 4 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROLS, ETC. THE DOORS DIDN'T HAVE POWER FOR ANY DOOR LOCKS OR WINDOWS. ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, EVERY WARNING LIGHT IMAGINABLE WAS ILLUMINATED. CHECK ENGINE, ABS, VOLTAGE, AIR BAG, PARK ASSIST, TRACTION CONTROL, LOW FUEL, LOW WASHER FLUID, SEAT BELT, LOW TIRE PRESSURE, ALL GEARS INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CENTER MESSAGE SCREEN WAS GOING THROUGH EVERY POSSIBLE FAULT SCENARIO. I TRIED TO TURN OFF THE TRUCK AND RESTART IT BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. I EVENTUALLY HAD TO REMOVE THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS WOULDN'T GO OFF. THE TRUCK WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY WHATSOEVER. I COULD UNDERSTAND IF ONE OR THE OTHER IS MALFUNCTIONING, BUT NOT BOTH. THIS DEFINITELY INDICATES AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. OUR TRUCK BEGAN STALLING THE ENGINE AT LOW SPEEDS IN DEC. 2015, I CHANGED ALL 16 SPARK PLUGS THINKING THIS WOULD FIX THE ISSUE, IT DIDN'T. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER THIS STARTED, I WAS TRYING TO UNLOCK THE TRUCK WITH THE KEY FOB FOR A SHORT TRIP INTO TOWN. THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLASH, BUT THE DOORS WOULD NEITHER LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH THE FOB. I OPENED THE DOOR WITH THE KEY AND STARTED THE ENGINE. THE IDIOT LIGHTS FOR THE AIR BAGS AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WERE BOTH ILLUMINATED. WE HAD NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH ANY OF THIS PREVIOUSLY. NEXT, I TRIED TO LOCK THE DOORS FOR THE TRIP, USING THE PDL SWITCH AND FOUND IT TO BE INOPERABLE. ALSO NOT WORKING WERE THE PW, HVAC SYSTEM, HORN, AND WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM. THIS WAS SO VERY STRANGE THAT I GOOGLED THESE SYMPTOMS AND DISCOVERED THE TIPM, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE, FOR THESE VEHICLES ARE FAILING AT AN ALARMING RATE. THANK GOD THAT MY WIFE DIDN'T STALL THIS TRUCK IN A HIGHWAY DRIVING SITUATION AND BECOME THE VICTIM OF THIS KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED SAFETY FLAW IN THESE VEHICLES. A FEW MONTHS LATER, WE FOUND OUT THAT JUST ONE ELECTRICAL ITEM CAN CAUSE THE ENTIRE TIPM BURN OUT THAT AFFECTS ALMOST EVERYTHING IN THE CAR. FOR US IT WAS THE BACKUP CAMERA THAT HAD A SHORT. CARS HAD TO GO AROUND ME AS I TRIED TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. THE NEXT MONDAY 10/12/15 I HAD TROUBLE STARTING AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED TO WORK. AT THE END OF MY SHIFT, IT TOOK A COUPLE DOZEN TURNS OF THE KEY FOB TO GET THE TRUCK STARTED AND I MADE IT HOME. THE TRUCK NOW SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY WAITING FOR A SERVICE APPOINTMENT ON 10/30/15. IF IT DOES NOT START, IT WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED. WHEN I INQUIRED ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM I WAS AGHAST AT HOW MANY OTHERS WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS ME AND CHRYSLER WAS DOING VERY LITTLE TO MAKE IT RIGHT. AS I WOULD LOSE THE ABILITY TO KEEP A CONSISTENT SPEED ON THE ROADS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD CONTINUE TO FLASH AND I WOULD HAVE NO POWER TO INCREASE SPEED AND FOUND MYSELF COASTING FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. AFTER GETTING THE RAM 1500 HOME, I TRIED TO START IT AND IT WOULD NOT START BUT THE WARNING LIGHTS AND DASH BOARD WOULD LIGHT UP, MY KEY WOULD NOT RELEASE, AND THEN EVENTUALLY IT WOULD NOT EVEN TURN ON. I SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND OUT FROM A NAMELESS DODGE TECHNICIAN THAT THEY WERE INSTRUCTED TO ENGAGE AIR SYSTEMS FOR THE INSPECTION AND IF NO APPARENT MALFUNCTION IS FOUND THEY WERE TO PASS THE RECALL AND WRITE IT OFF. I AM OUTRAGED THAT YET ANOTHER CORPORATE ENTITY IS PREYING ON AMERICAN CONSUMERS AND GETTING BY WITH IT, WHILE CLAIMING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND IT'S ENGINEERING. ON 3/30/15 MY RAM TRUCK EXHIBITED THE CONDITION DESCRIBED IN THE K17 (REPROGRAM HVAC CONTROL HEAD AND INSPECT/REPLACE ACTUATORS) RECALL. THIS RECALL WAS CREATED TO ELIMINATE THE POSSIBLE MALFUNCTION OF THE HVAC SYSTEM TO PROPERLY DEFROST/DEFOG THE WINDSHIELD. IT INVOLVES UPDATING SOFTWARE AND REPLACING MODE DOOR ACTUATORS. THE PLASTIC ACTUATOR GEARS CAN EASILY BE BROKEN WHEN THE CONTROL HEAD SENDS THE WRONG SIGNALS TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE MODE DOORS. AT THE MOMENT, MY DEFROSTER/HEATER IS NOT WORKING AND WHEN I FIRST START THE VEHICLE, THERE IS A SERIES OF KNOCKING SOUNDS FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AS THE MALFUNCTIONING SYSTEM GOES THROUGH ITS PROGRESSIONS. I TOOK IT IN TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER (GURNEE) HOPING THAT THE RECALL WOULD ELIMINATE THE CONDITION. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ACTUATORS BUT COULD NOT GET THE SYSTEM WORKING PROPERLY. I OBSERVED THAT WHILE THE POPPING NOISE IS OCCURRING, THE HVAC FAN GOES TO A MINIMUM SETTING AND SOMETIMES STAYS THERE AFTER THE POPPING HAS SUBSIDED. THIS INCLUDES THE DEFROST. NOW THAT COLD WEATHER HAS ARRIVED, I HAVE HAD INSTANCES OF THE WINDSHIELD FREEZING UP WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND REDUCING VISIBILITY TO NOTHING. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO EVEN GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DETERMINED IT TO BE ONE THE HVAC DOOR ACTUATORS. ACCORDING TO POSTS ON THE INTERNET, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. 3 OF THE 5 OF THESE ACTUATORS THAT EXIST ON THE VEHICLE ARE RELATIVELY EASY TO ACCESS, SO I OBTAINED ONE OF THESE PARTS AND REPLACED ONE OF THE THREE ACCESSIBLE PARTS (FOUND TO HAVE STRIPPED GEARS). AFTER REASSEMBLING, THE NOISE WAS STILL PRESENT. AFTER, INVESTIGATION, IT APPEARS THAT THE ONE OF THE ACTUATORS ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE HVAC HOUSING HAS GONE BAD, ALSO. THE DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE ONLY WAY TO REPLACE THESE IS TO REMOVE THE DASHBOARD. THEY TOLD ME THIS WOULD COST NEARLY $600. IN SPRING 2013 MY DODGE RAM TRUCK FAILED TO START. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A FAULTY SENSOR AND CHARGED OVER $600 FOR THE REPAIR. IN SEPTEMBER 2013 THE EXACT PROBLEM OCCURRED. I WAS TRAVELLING AND WHEN I RETURNED TO MY TRUCK IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES I WAS ABLE TO GET MY TRUCK TO START. WHILE DRIVING IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASH WAS FLASHING AND ACTING VERY ERRATIC. THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN TOLD TO ME I HAD A FAULTY STARTER. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS "REPAIRED" THE DEALER LEFT JUST ABOUT EVERY NOTICE ON MY DASH FLASHING STATING THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT (UNLESS I WANTED TO PAY THEM MORE MONEY). WHILE IN THE WAITING ROOM I CHATTED WITH AT LEAST ONE OTHER CUSTOMER WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DODGE RAM TRUCKS ARE SIMPLY NOT STARTING BECAUSE OF A SENSOR AND THE DEALERS ARE MAKING A FORTUNE OFF THE CUSTOMERS. THIS SENSOR IS "FAULTY" AND DODGE NEEDS TO BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT FOR ITS CUSTOMERS. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT OWNERS OF THE DODGE RAM ARE LEFT STRANDED IN PARKING LOTS.... *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND ACTIVATED THE DEFROSTER SYSTEM HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE EXACT REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. UPDATED 11/13/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE BATTERY DRAINED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM, SO THEY RESET THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND SAID IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE FIXED.

OUR 2009 DODGE RAM 1500 IS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE). THE VEHICLE STARTS INTERMITTENTLY AND WILL/COULD STOP RUNNING/SHUTDOWN AT ANY TIME. WE HAVE HAD THE TRUCK SERVICED ONLY TO FIND THAT THIS PARTICULAR PART IS ABOUT $650-800 TO REPLACE PLUS LABOR. THE ISSUE NOT ONLY COULD BE DANGEROUS IF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT START BUT IF IT DIES WHILE OPERATING. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT ONLY A LARGE ISSUE IN DODGE RAM, BUT ALSO IN NUMEROUS OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES. SOME HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES SUCH AS WINDSHIELD WIPERS, THE HORN BLOWING, LIGHTS TURNING ON AND OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. EVEN AFTER REMOVING THE KEY AND SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE, THE ISSUES WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE WIPERS CAN AND HAVE DECIDED TO NOT WORK, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A REAL HAZARD WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON SPORADICALLY, AS DOES THE AIR BAG LIGHT. NOT KNOWING IF THE AIR BAG WILL EVEN FUNCTION IN AN ACCIDENT. THERE IS AN ENORMOUS BACKORDER ON THE TIPM DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF VEHICLES REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. I WAS TOLD "UNOFFICIALLY" BY A SERVICE REP THAT THE REASON FOR THE BACKLOG IS ALSO DUE TO CHRYSLER CHANGING THE MANUFACTURER AND IN TURN, INCREASING THE PRICE OF THE PART. THIS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF CHRYSLER, NOT THE OWNER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY! ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE WOULD BE MORE THAN APPRECIATED. *JS

AFTER COMPLETION OF HVAC RECALL, FAILURE OF MODE DOOR ACTUATOR CAUSED INABILITY TO DEFROST WINDOWS. NO REMEDY FROM CHRYSLER AS RECALL HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED 6 MONTHS PRIOR. HAVE A 2006 DODGE WITH SAME PROBLEMS WITH HVAC IN DASH FAILURES OF MODE DOOR AND RECIRCULATION DOOR WITH 3 DEALER REPLACEMENTS OF BOTH SINCE PURCHASED NEW. LAST ADVISED IN JANUARY OF 2013 THAT ENTIRE IN DASH HVAC DUCTING/ DOOR HOUSINGS REQUIRE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF OVER $1500. 2009 DODGE HAS SAME/ SIMILAR DESIGN AND IS NOW EXPERIENCING SAME FAILURES. INABILITY TO SELECT DEFROST IS CAUSITIVE OF WINDOW FOGGING AND ICING LEADING TO POOR VISIBILITY IN INCLEMENT CONDITIONS AND WILL LEAD TO ACCIDENTS FROM SAME. RECALL ON 2009 DOES NOT ADDRESS DESIGN ISSUE THAT HAS PLAGUED THESE TRUCKS SINCE 2006 (AS EVIDENCED BY MY OTHER TRUCK). VEHICLE HAS HAD A VERY EXTENSIVE HISTORY OF HEATER/DEFROSTER FAILURES. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN ISSUE WITH ALL THE DODGE TRUCKS. FIRST THE RECIRC DOOR/ACTUATOR BROKE, THEY WANTED $1000.00 TO FIX, THEN THE HEATER CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. PAID FOR THAT TO BE FIXED. NOW THE BLEND DOOR BROKE, $1500.00 TO FIX. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAPPENED IN 1 YEARS TIME. CHEAP PLASTIC PARTS TO SAVE MONEY DOESN'T SEEM TO BE SAVING ANYONE MONEY EXCEPT THEM. THIS IS A DANGER TO ALL DODGE TRUCK OWNERS. WHEN THE DEFROSTER NO LONGER WORKS, IT IS PRETTY HARD TO SEE, AND WHEN IT IS HARD TO SEE..HOW CAN YOU DRIVE SAFELY? THEN BEFORE I COULD GET BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET FIXED THE WHOLE HVAC SYSTEM QUIT WORKING ALL EXCEPT THE FAN SWITCH, IT STILL BLOWS ON YOUR FEET. SECOND INCIDENT-10/19/09. WHILE SITTING IN PARKING LOT WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, TRUCK IN DRIVE, ENGINE DIED OUT AND WOULD NOT RESTART. HAD TO TOW TO LOCAL DEALER. TRUCK DID RESTART AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT AT DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP COULD FINALLY DUPLICATE PROBLEM. NO CODES STORED IN ANY MODULE. THEY CHECKED VOLTAGE AT THE FUEL PUMP AND PUMP PRESSURE, NO PRESSURE AT PUMP. AFTER LOWERING THE FUEL TANK AND CHECKING THE FUEL, THEY INSPECTED THE FUEL PUMP AND DISCOVERED A POWER LEAD AT THE PUMP WAS LOOSE AND DISCONNECTS WITH VIBRATION. INSTALLED NEW FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY.
