TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 DODGE RAM 2500. THE CONTACT SEARCHED ONLINE FOR RECALLS PE VIN AND FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 01V037000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AS AN UNREPAIRED RECALL PER THE NHTSA VIN SEARCH. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO LANDMARK DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM OF MARROW (6850 MT ZION BLVD MORROW, GA 30260, 678-251-2270) AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 DODGE RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, HE NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STICKING TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT KICKED THE PEDAL AND IT RELEASED. THE CONTACT THEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS STUCK. THE CONTACT THEN PULLED THE CABLE BACK FROM BEING IDLED AND DROVE HOME. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY NEED TO INSPECT AND REPLACE THE THROTTLE CABLE AND UPPER BELL CRANK LEVER. THE REPAIRS WOULD TAKE A WEEK BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 275,000.

AFTER DRIVING 5 OR 10 MINUTES VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND HAD TAKEN IT TO DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE PROBLEMS OF THE VEHICLE, AND CONSUMER HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. *AK THE CONSUMER HAD LITTLE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHILE DRIVING. ANTIFREEZE LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE FLOODED AND STALL. THE VEHICLE RAN ROUGH PRIOR TO REACHING 75 MPH. OCCASIONALLY THE SERPENTINE BELT RAN CROOKED ON THE PULLEY AND BROKE. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM LEAKED. THE FUEL TANK WAS NOT PROPERLY FITTED TO THE HOLDERS. THE TRANSMISSION LEAKED FLUID. *NM

THERE IS A RECALL (01V037000) POSSIBLY RELATING TO THE THROTTLE CABLE WHICH WAS NOT PERFORMED BECAUSE THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE RECALL WERE NOT AVAILABLE. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO GET AN APPROVED PART AND RECEIVED REPAIRS THROUGH ANOTHER DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE LISTED ITEM FAILED AND CAUSED THE THROTTLE TO STICK,I CONTACTED THE FACTORY, THE DEALER AND NHTSA AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THAT AFFECTED THIS PART:CAMPAIGN NUMBER: O1V037000.THIS IS A 1995 DIESEL PICKUP AND IS THE EXACT SAME DEFECT AS DESCRIBED IN THIS CAMPAIGN NUMBER AND CAUSED ME TO SPEND OVER $350 TO REPAIR AT THE DEALER NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY FACTOR INVOLVED WHEN MY THROTTLE STUCK OPEN AT SPEED. *AK
A PLASTIC COMPONENT THAT IS FOUND IN THE THROTTLE CONTROL FELL OUT OF ITS PLASTIC SLEEVE, CAUSING A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHILE TRAVELING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHILE PULLING A 29' TRAILER. DEALERSHIP REPLACED PLASTIC COMPONENT AND SLEEVE WITH NEWER GENERATION COMPONENTS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS.*AK

ATTN FRANK BORRIS. UPON PUSHING THROTTLE TO WOT THE CABLE STUCK. I NOTICED THE PEDAL WOULDN'T RETURN AT ABOUT 35 MPH. I REACHED 80-90MPH BEFORE HITTING THE BRAKES. AT 40 MPH I PUT THE ENGINE IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. I LOST STEERING AND MY POWER BRAKES AND WENT INTO A DITCH. I SUFFERED NO INJURIES AND MY TRUCK SUFFERED NO SERIOUS DAMAGE. I MANAGED TO FREE THE CABLE AND RETURN TO HOME WITH CAUTION AND LOW THROTTLE. I REPLACED THE CABLE (WHICH DODGE HAD IN STOCK). WHEN I TOOK THE OLD ONE OUT I NOTICED THE CABLE FRAYED INSIDE THE SHEATH. I HAD NOTICED PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT (THANKS TO THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE TDR) THE CABLE STARTED TO FRAY NEAR THE BALL CUP AT THE END. I CUT OFF A BROKEN STRAND AT THE BALL CUP. I COULDN'T NOTICE THE BROKEN STRANDS IN THE SHEATH AT THAT TIME. I'M SENDING THE CABLE (VIA FRANK BORRIS) FOR YOUR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. *AK

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY I LOST THROTTLE CONTROL. THE THROTTLE LINKAGE HAD FATIGUED AND RUPTURED AT A BALL JOINT. THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE REDUCTION IN SPEED, RESULTING IN ME HAVING TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER.
HAD JUST STARTED VEHICLE UP. LEFT VEHICLE FOR AWHILE. COULD HEAR ENGINE REVVING/RACING VERY FAST & HIGH IN GARAGE. VEHICLE MOVED & PINNED OWNER AGAINST GARAGE WALL. *AK
THE THROTTLE LINKAGES FELL OFF THE VEHICLE,ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO RETURN TO IDLE AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION IN THE VEHICLE WITH APPLICATION OF THE GAS PEDAL. VEHICLE HAS BEEN FIXED. *AK

I HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF REPORTING SERIOUS MAJOR SAFETY COMPONENT PROBLEMS AND FAILURES TO CHRYSLER ON BOTH OF MY VEHICLES. MY VEHICLES HAVE BEEN IN THREE ACCIDENTS RESULTING FROM FAILED SAFETY COMPONENTS. EACH TIME AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND CORRECT IT. HOWEVER, THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. IN THE CASE OF THE BRAKE LINE FAILURE IT INVOLVES EVERY 1195 BR2500 HD PICKUP TRUCK. CHRYSLER FOUND AND CORRECTED THE PROBLEM AT SOME POINT BECAUSE THE REPLACEMENT PART IS DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE BENDS WHICH CAUSE THE LINE TO RUB AGAINST THE WHEEL RIM ON TURNS. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGES THAT WERE CAUSED BY CHRYSLER. HOW DO I GET MY MONEY BACK?
WHILE DRIVING TO A STOP SIGN VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK THE THE FLOOR. CONSUMER COULDN'T STOP VEHICLE, CRASHING INTO A TREE. *AK

FUEL SENSOR WILL FLUCTUATE AND THEN GO TO EMPTY AND REMAIN THERE. ALSO, IGNITION SWITCH BEGAN OVERHEATING, BURNING THE INSULATION AROUND THE A/C WIRING ATTACHED TO THE STEERING COLUMN. IN ADDITION, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR , WITH HEAT ON, WOULD JUMP TO 3000-4000 RPMS. *AK
WORN ACCELERATOR CABLE SOCKETS CAUSED ACCELERATOR LINKAGE TO FALL OFF WHILE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED.
