I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON MAY 3RD 2019 WHERE I STRUCK A VEHICLE THAT HAD JUST ENTERED THE TWO LANE HIGHWAY FROM THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND CROSSED IN FRONT OF ME. TAKATA INFILTRATORS WELL THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO FORCE REPLACEMENT OF AIR BAG, BUT DOSES NOT REQUIRE THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURE TO PROVIDE REPLACE PARTS FOR THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKES. THIS PICK-UP HAS NEED A NEW ANTI LOCK BRAKE CONTROL MODULE FOR YEARS, BUT OEM REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, BUT AIR BAGS ARE. A EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF HOW BUREAUCRACY'S REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (DOMINION OF BEDFORD, 1750 INDEPENDENCE BLVD BEDFORD, VA 24523) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE PART WAS NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED. THERE WAS AN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WITH A RE-MANUFACTURED PART, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

TAKATA RECALL: THIS IS THE SECOND RECALL I HAVE RECEIVED CONCERNING THE TAKATA RECALL. WHEN THE FIRST ONE WAS DONE, MY DASH HAD 3 CRACKS THAT WERE DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT BUILD UP WHEN EH WINDOWS WERE ROLLED UP AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS EXCESSIVE. AFTER R THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED THE DASH HAD 11 CRACKS, WHICH I WAS WILLING TO ACCEPT. NOW I GET ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE (R26/ NHTSA 15V-312). THE DEALER TELLS ME, THIS WILL MOST LIKELY RESULT IN MORE CRACKS IN THE DASH, AND THEY WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE WERE CRACKS ALREADY IN THE DASH, THEY CANNOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE DASH WHEN THEY PERFORM THIS LAST RECALL. I AM ASSUMING TO PERFORM THE CURRENT RECALL WILL RESULT IN MORE THAT 6 MORE CRACKS. I DO NOT FEEL THAT 17-18 CRACKS IN A HARD PLASTIC DASH WOULD BE SAFE IN THE EVENT OF A WRECK. I ALSO DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGE THAT WAS DONE DUE TO THESE TAKATA RECALLS. I AM TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED BEFORE I HAVE THE LAST RECALL PERFORMED. AIR BAG LIGHT WAS COMING ON SPORADICALLY AND INCREASINGLY OFTEN. WORK PERFORMED, IF ANY, BY JACKSONS OF ENID DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WITHIN A MILE OF THE BUSINESS AND CONTINUES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME. OUTER TIE ROD ASSEMBLY??? CAN'T TELL. . WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE NEW AIRBAGS TO INSTALL AND THAT I WOULD RECEIVE ANOTHER NOTICE STATING WHEN THEY HAD THEM. THEN, I COULD THEN CALL BACK TO SET UP A TIME TO HAVE THE FAULTY ONE REPLACED. I NEVER RECEIVED THAT NOTICE AND HAVE RECEIVED MY SECOND SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ON THE SAME ISSUE. I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO HAVE THIS FIXED SINCE MY FAMILY OFTEN USE THIS VEHICLE. BUT THE LOCAL DEALER ONLY SEEMS INTERESTED IN MAKING MONEY, NOT THE SAFETY OF WHAT THEY SALE.

TAKATA RECALL COMPLAINT RECALL NUMBER R26 / NHTSA 15V-312 I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE RECALLED PASSENGER TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL. I WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THE SERVICE ADVISORS THAT DODGE WILL REPLACE ANY PARTS THAT ARE BROKEN FREE OF CHARGE DURING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE INFLATORS. WELL THAT WAS A LIE, AS YOU CAN SEE THAT THE DASHBOARD ON THIS SAME 2003 RAM 2500 MODEL HAS MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT CRACKING AND LITERALLY BREAKING APART DUE IT BECOMING BRITTLE. MINE HAS 5 CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD AND IT IS BLOWING BROKEN PIECES OUT THE VENTS INTO MY FACE WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE PROBLEM WITH THE DASHBOARDS. WELL THEN THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT THE DASHBOARD WILL CRACK AND BREAK INTO PIECES DURING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FAULTY TAKATA INFLATOR AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS THAT WILL BREAK APART DURING THE REPLACEMENT SO I DECLINED THE REPAIR. THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE MY DASHBOARD HAS CRACKS ALREADY THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE PARTS THAT WOULD BREAK DURING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE INFLATOR. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD. SO NOW EVERY TIME MY WIFE IS A PASSENGER IN THE TRUCK I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HER GETTING INJURED WORSE IN AN ACCIDENT DUE THE FAULTY INFLATOR. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE THAT DODGE INSTALLED CHEAP PLASTIC DASHBOARDS AND NOW I HAVE A DEFECTIVE INFLATOR THAT CAN NOT BE REPLACED WITH OUT COSTING ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARDS. I THINK DODGE SHOULD PAY FOR EVERYTHING SINCE THEY USED FAULTY PARTS AND THE RECALL REPAIRS SHOULD NOT COST ME ANYTHING TO GET IT FIXED NO MATTER HOW MANY PARTS THEY HAVE TO REPLACE FREE OF CHARGE ATTACHED IS THE REPAIR TICKET I RECEIVED FROM THE DEALERSHIP. *TR

WELL THEN THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT THE DASHBOARD WILL CRACK AND BREAK INTO PIECES DURING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FAULTY TAKATA INFLATOR AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS THAT WILL BREAK APART DURING THE REPLACEMENT SO I DECLINED THE REPAIR. THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE MY DASHBOARD HAS CRACKS ALREADY THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE PARTS THAT WOULD BREAK DURING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE INFLATOR. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD. SO NOW EVERY TIME MY WIFE IS A PASSENGER IN THE TRUCK I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HER GETTING INJURED WORSE IN AN ACCIDENT DUE THE FAULTY INFLATOR. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE THAT DODGE INSTALLED CHEAP PLASTIC DASHBOARDS AND NOW I HAVE A DEFECTIVE INFLATOR THAT CAN NOT BE REPLACED WITH OUT COSTING ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARDS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEIR REPLY WAS, "THE PART TO CORRECT THIS IS STILL NOT IN". THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN 8 MONTHS SINCE MY RECALL NOTICE. I WANT YOUR AGENCY TO DETERMINE IF CHRYSLER HAS PUT A PLAN IN PLACE TO DELIVER THE PARTS TO THE DEALERS AND WHAT IS THE SPECIFIC TIMELINE AND PROVIDE THE PUBLIC WITH THE NAME, JOB TITLE, ADDRESS & PHONE NUMBER OF THE PERSONS AT CHRYSLER WHO ARE BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS REMEDY, YET TO BE PERFORMED.

HOW ABOUT WE EXPECT REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS BEFORE YOU GET INJURED. NOT WE WILL NOTIFY YOU. HOW ABOUT PROVIDING SOME KIND OF UPDATE AFTER 6 MONTHS. THE GOVERNMENT LET THESE PEOPLE OFF WAY TO EASY. IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO TELL THE GOVERNMENT THAT WE WILL RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND THEN NEVER DO IT. WHAT IS BEING DONE TO BE SURE THAT THEY ARE FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH THESE REPAIRS? ARE THEY HOPING THAT THE OWNERS WILL JUST STOP ASKING FOR THE REPAIRS? THE PUBLIC SHOULD AT LEAST BE GIVEN AN UPDATE ON WHEN THEY THINK PARTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE. THEIR RECALL SYSTEM DOES NOT EVEN PROVIDE YOU WITH A DOCUMENT TO PROVE THAT YOU EVER REQUESTED REPAIRS. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP BY MY HOUSE JUST PUT MY INFORMATION ON A PIECE OF PAPER AND THEN TOLD ME I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN A PART WAS AVAILABLE. HOW DOES THE DEALERSHIP OR FCA EVEN KNOW THAT THAT DEALERSHIP IS WAITING ON AN AIR BAG FOR MY VEHICLE? I HAD THE SAME RECALL ON MY FORD AND I WILL TELL YOU IT WAS TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND MY REPLACEMENT PARTS WAS MARKED URGENT IN THEIR SYSTEM AND IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF WITHIN DAYS NOT MONTHS.

SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2012, THE DASH BOARD HAS BEEN SO SEVERELY CRACKED THAT THERE ARE SHARP EDGES EXPOSED. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD A CARPET DASH COVER ON THE DASH. DIRECTLY ABOVE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG THE LIP OF THE DASH IS CRACKED FROM THE AIRBAG ALL THE WAY TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE DASH ON MY TRUCK IS CRACKED INTO SMALL PIECES THAT ARE VERY DANGEROUS. THE PIECES ARE SHARP BECAUSE THEY ARE BROKE INTO LITTLE TRIANGLES. THE POINTED ENDS WILL INJURE OR KILL SOMEONE DURING A CRASH! ALSO THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND I CAN'T GET IT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE DASH HAS TO BE REMOVED AND IT IS IN LITTLE PIECES.
