Additionally, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. THE TRUCK WITH ATTACHED TRAILER WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINED DRIVEWAY. THE TRUCK WAS PLACED IN PARK AND THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. I PROCEEDED TO LOAD A COMPACT TRACTOR APPROXIMATELY 2500 LBS. THE TRUCK STARTED TO ROLL DOWN THE HILL AND CRASHED THRU A FENCE DOING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. I DID NOT TRY TO START THE TRUCK AND WAITED FOR MECHANIC TO ASSESS ANY MECHANICAL DAMAGE. THE MECHANIC CAME TO MY PLACE AND WHEN HE GOT IN THE TRUCK THE TRANSMISSION INDICATED THAT IT WAS STILL IN PARK. DODGE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS TYPE VEHICLE WITH THE TRANSMISSION NOT HOLDING. THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH GAS POWERED ENGINES BUT NOT THE DIESEL. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS CAN BE EVALUATED FOR RECALL. NO ONE GOT HURT IN THIS INSTANCE BUT CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK MECHANICALLY AND COSMETICALLY.

MAY 2018, PUT TRUCK IN PARK AND LEFT IT RUNNING TO GO IN TO GET SOMETHING. WE WERE IN AN RV PARK AT THE TIME. A MINUTE OR SO LATER, IT WENT IN REVERSE AND BACKED INTO A TRAILER CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH. GEARSHIFT SHOWEDIT WAS STILL IN 'P'. ALARM HAS SINCE BEEN PUT IN UNDER RECALL E17 AFTER WE REQUESTED IT. (HAD ASKED WHEN AIR BAGS WERE CHANGED OUT IN DECEMBER 2017, IF ANY OTHER RECALLS, AND WERE TOLD NO). A DODGE REP CAME ON JUNE 12, 2018 AND LOOKED AT THE TRUCK. AS OF 12/10/2018, WE HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF RESULTS.

THE CLUTCH PEDAL CONNECTING ROD TO THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER SEPARATED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER. IT HAPPENS IF YOU BUMP THE PEDAL BACKWARDS WITH YOUR FOOT GOING FOR THE BRAKE. THEN YOU CAN'T PUSH IN THE CLUTCH! YOU HAVE TO PULL IT OUT OF GEAR PULL OVER AND PUT THE ROD BACK IN. CLUTCH PEDAL COMES BACK REAL FAR AND CAUSES THIS! I HAVE HAD CONTINUOUS ISSUES WITH MY 2005 DODGE RAM 2500 I HAVE STATED TO DODGE THAT I HAVE STALLING ISSUES CONSTANTLY THEY SAY THEIR IS NOTHING WRONG AND THE STEERING ISSUES ARE LIFE THREATENING I HAVE SPENT AT LEAST 4 OR 5 GRAND ON THIS TRUCK TRYING TO FIX IT MAKE IT SAFE TO DRIVE BEING DODGE CAN'T AND NOW THERE IS MORE RECALLS ON AIR BAGS WITH NO TIME FRAME TO WHEN THEY CAN FIX AND WITH THE NEWEST RECALL OF THE BUY BACK THEIRS NO RECOGNITION OF IT TO THE DEALERS AS OF YET LIKE DO I NEED TO BE THE PERSON THAT'S JUST DRIVING TO WORK AND CRASH DUE TO STEERING LOSS AND HAVE THE AIRBAG DEPLOY METAL SHARDS INTO MY BODY TO GET SOME ATTENTION FROM THESE PPL WOULD LIKE TO SEE DODGE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS

ON FEBRUARY 3, 2012 WE WERE PASSING A LOGGING TRUCK IN A LEGAL PASSING LANE WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN OUR TRUCK STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. WE LOST ALL STEERING CONTROL AND HAD NO BRAKES ALL WHILE SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND HEADED INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE AND OVER THE EMBANKMENT HITTING TREES HEAD ON. EXCESSIVE VIBRATION SINCE PURCHASES TRUCK NEW IN 2005. REPLACED SERPENTINE BELT 5 TIMES AND TENSIONER PULLEY 2 TIMES, WHICH IS ABOUT EVERY 30K MILES. CHRYSLER AGREED TO PAY FOR THE LAST BELT AND PULLEY ACKNOWLEDGING SOMETHING WAS WRONG CAUSING THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE WAS NOT KNOWN UNTIL RECENTLY. THE VIBRATION OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME CAUSED SEVERAL BOLTS/MOUNTS TO WORK LOOSE AND ALLOWED PARTS TO SHIFT. THE COOLING FAN SHIFTED INTO THE RADIATOR BREAKING THE FAN BLADES AND BUSTING THE RADIATOR. THE RADIATOR, FAN ASSEMBLY AND FAN HAD TO BE CHANGED. DURING THESE REPAIRS THE VIBRATION SOURCE WAS FOUND. THE FLYWHEEL WAS BAD. CHANGED FLYWHEEL, CLUTCH AND THROW OUT BEARING. THE BEARING IN THE FLYWHEEL WAS BAD AND CAUSING SLACK WHICH CAUSED THE VIBRATION. THE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION ALSO CAUSED A 5" CRACK IN THE BELL HOUSING AND BROKE THE EXHAUST PIPE IN TWO. MUFFLER SHOP SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN A BREAK IN THE EXHAUST LIKE THIS. CHRYSLER IS SAYING ALL OF THESE ITEMS ARE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, DISREGARDING THE FACT THAT EARLIER CHRYSLER AGREED TO REPLACE A SERPENTINE BELT AND TENSIONER PULLEY. UJOINTS IN THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE BEEN CHANGED MULTIPLE TIMES. VERY POOR HEADLIGHTS. SO BAD IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOT ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO ADEQUATELY SEE IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING DURING THE NIGHT. *TR

2005 DODGE 2500 4X4 CREW CAB WITH CUMMINS DIESEL DOES NOT INDICATE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK EVEN WITH THE SHIFT LEVER IN THE PARK DETENT POSITION. I COMPLAINED TO THE SERVICING DEALER IN 12/06 AND NUMEROUS PARTS WERE CHANGED IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE CHANGES HELPED TEMPORARILY BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. I RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER IN 2009 FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION WAS PERFORMING TO SPECS AND NO WORK WAS PERFORMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ON 11/14/2011 I EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH THE TRANSMISSION LEVER IN THE PARK DETENT POSITION AND THE ENGINE RUNNING. AFTER ABOUT 15 SECONDS THE TRUCK SHIFTED INTO REVERSE BACKED INTO A VEHICLE AND A BUILDING. CHRYSLER INVESTIGATED THE INCIDENT AND INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH 118000 MILES EVEN THOUGH NO REPAIRS WERE DONE WHEN REQUESTED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THE TRUCK HAS A FACTORY RECALL TO INSTALL SOME SORT OF ALARM. CHRYSLER SAYS THE RECALL WAS MAILED TO ME IN 2006 AND 2007 BUT THE TRUCK WAS AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS COMPLAINT AFTER THE SUPPOSED NOTIFICATION AND WHILE COVERED UNDER MY CHRYSLER 100,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR TWO DAYS AND THE RECALL WAS NOT PERFORMED. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS MODEL TRUCK WITH PAGES UPON PAGES OF THESE INCIDENTS RETRIEVED BY CONDUCTING AN INTERNET SEARCH AND I CANNOT BELIEVE A FIX CANNOT BE FOUND FOR THIS ISSUE OR THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT FORCING CHRYSLER TO CORRECT THE ISSUES. *TR

THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE IS FAULTY IN DODGE 4X4 TRUCKS, I HAVE A 2005 DODGE POWERWAGON AND THIS LITE HAS COME ON AND OFF FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS. I HAVE HAD IT IN DODGE SERVICE IN DENISON, IOWA IN 2009 AND 2010 AND THE MECHANIC HOOKED UP A READER TO MY VEHICLE WITH THE "SERV 4WD" LIGHT ON YET STATED HE GETS NO READING? EVERY TIME I HAVE TRIED TO GET MY VEHICLE TO SERVICE IN MY HOME TOWN THE LIGHT GOES OUT PRIOR TO GETTING TO DODGE. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ITEM YET DODGE HAS FAILED TO REACT. THE STORIES OF PAYING 800.00 PLUS FOR REPLACEMENT AND STILL THE LIGHT COMES ON? PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM, HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL? I CAN BACKUP AND THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF ? THE TRANSMISSION LINES WERE CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED PRIOR TO REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE COMPUTER IN THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07E009000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: LEVER AND LINKAGE: COLUMN SHIFT). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL; HOWEVER, THEY INSTALLED AN ALARM TO WARN THE CONTACT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO ROLL. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, SHE PARKED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO ROLL. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND INJURED HER RIGHT ARM IN THE PROCESS. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE 2500 DIESEL'S WERE MADE FOR FARMERS. SHE DOES NOT NOW HOW TO USE THE VEHICLE AND BELIEVED THAT SHE MUST HAVE LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING WHEN THE FAILURES OCCURRED. THE ALARM ONLY WARNS THE CONTACT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

THERE IS NO WAY A SMALL DENT IN THE DIFFERENTIAL CASING COULD CAUSE ALL THE DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED. THIS DENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED FROM A ROCK HITTING IT; IT IS A VERY SMALL DENT. THEREFORE; NOT ONLY DID THE TRANSMISSION FAIL TO PROPERLY STAY ENGAGED IN THE PARK POSITION BUT THE ALARM FEATURE ALSO FAILED TO WARN ME WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK. LET ME ELABORATE ON EXACTLY HOW THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED AND CONTINUES TO OCCUR WITH MY SPECIFIC TRUCK: FIRST OF ALL; IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN; THE POSITION INDICATOR (THE SQUARE MARQUEE THAT ENCIRCLES THE CURRENT GEAR POSITION) IS NOT ILLUMINATED AROUND ANY GEAR POSITION, PRNDL, BUT SPECIFICALLY NOT AROUND PARK OR REVERSE. AS THE OPERATOR, I HAVE TO MAKE A VERY DELIBERATE ACTION TO PUSH THE SHIFT LEVER IN TO THE PARK POSITION AND VISUALLY CONFIRM THAT IN FACT THE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK, AS INDICATED BY THE MARQUEE. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFTER MECHANISM, IT MUST BE FIXED. MANY DRIVERS BACKUP THE LAST FOOT OR TWO WITH DRIVERS DOOR OPEN WHEN CONNECTING TRUCK TO A TRAILER. THE PROPOSED FIX IN THE RECALL MAKES THE VEHICLE LESS USABLE. I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS NEW TRUCK IF I HAD BEEN AWARE OF THE "RUBE GOLDBERG" BANDAID PATCH RATHER THAN FIXING THE SHIFTER PROBLEM. I WOULD ENCOURAGE NHTSA TO DISAPPROVE THE CURRENT RECALL AND DEMAND THAT THE PROBLEM BE SOLVED WITH A FUNCTIONAL SHIFTER MECHANISM. I CONSIDER THE FIX PROPOSED BY THE RECALL TO BE TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND REFUSE TO HAVE IT INCORPORATED ON MY TRUCK BECAUSE IT MAKES CONNECTING TO A TRAILER MORE DIFFICULT AND TIME CONSUMING. I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK BUT NOW ALWAYS SET THE PARKING BRAKE WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF UNCERTAINTY OF THE SHIFTER. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE GEAR SHIFTER INDICATOR JUMPED INTO REVERSE AND RAN OVER THE CONTACT AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES; HOWEVER, THE POLICE WERE NOT CONTACTED SINCE THIS HAPPENED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. THE DAMAGE TO THE FENCE WAS ADDITIONAL PROPERTY DAMAGE. TWO DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION ON NHTSA # 05V462000, CONCERNING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED ABOUT THE ACCIDENT AND SENT A REPRESENTATIVE TO INVESTIGATE. THE INVESTIGATOR DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION HAD GONE IN REVERSE AND WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE INVESTIGATOR RECHECKED THE VEHICLE AFTER THIS RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED AND DEEMED THE VEHICLE "UNSAFE". THE INVESTIGATOR STATED THE ALARM PATCH THAT WAS PLACED ON THE TRANSMISSION TO ALERT THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS AGAIN GOING INTO REVERSE, WAS A SHORT TERM REPAIR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THE CONTACT IS UNPLEASED WITH THE REPAIR THAT WAS MADE AND VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF SAFETY.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE'S GEAR POSITION INDICATOR WAS IN PARK THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARD. WHILE STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING IT ROLLED AND HIT A PARKED VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THE GEAR POSITION INDICATOR WAS IN PARK, WHEN THE INDICATOR WAS INSPECTED AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE POSITION INDICATOR WAS FOUND IN REVERSE. THE POLICE FILED A REPORT AT THE SCENE. HOWEVER, NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER WITH ADDITIONAL PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE OTHER VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT CLAIMED WIFE WAS IN THE PASSENGER'S SEAT AT THE TIME OF CRASH, BUT COULD NOT GET TO GEAR SHIFT IN TIME TO STOP VEHICLE.,SHE HAD LEFT ARM IN A SLING DUE TO ROTATOR CUFF SURGERY. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE PROBLEM OF THE GEAR SHIFT JUMPING INTO REVERSE. THE INDICATOR DEFINITELY WA SIN PARK MOMENTARILY BEFORE CHANGING BACK TO REVERSE. THE CONTACT'S LIABILITY INSURANCE PAID FOR REPAIRS TO THE OTHER VEHICLE IN CLASH , AND THE INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. ALSO, THE CONTACT ENCLOSED A COPY OF THE SAFETY RECALL NOTICE WHICH HE RECEIVED FROM DAIMLER/CHRYSLER. HE FELT DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED , AND HE FELT THIS WAS A DODGE PROBLEM. *AK

I PURCHASED A 2005 RAM 2500 IN JULY. I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH MINE JUMPING FROM PARK TO REVERSE. NO PEOPLE WERE HURT, BUT IT DESTROYED THE ENTIRE SIDE OF MY PICKUP. WHEN IT JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE THE TRUCK WENT ACROSS THE STREET AND HIT ANOTHER TRUCK. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED A FEW TIME BEFORE, BUT I WAS IN THE TRUCK THESE TIMES. I THINK DODGE HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM TO TAKE CARE OF BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. NOW MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE BODY SHOP LONGER THAN I GOT TO DRIVE IT. HOPE DODGE IS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF ALL OF US. I HAVE AN 05 RAM 2500 QUAD CAB HEMI TRUCK WITH 3,200 MILES ON IT. SINCE NEW THE TRUCK HAS HAD AN ERRATIC IDLE AND WOULD OCCASIONALLY DIE WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THE PCM HAS BEEN FLASHED, THE THROTTLE BODY IS PROJECTED TO BE REPLACED NEXT. THIS PROBLEM IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AS THE TRUCK RECENTLY STALLED IN TRAFFIC THREE TIMES IN A TEN MINUTE PERIOD.
