Steering linkage and tie rod issues. Steering not working properly. I see that my vehicle is not listed in the recalls. Although. I am having steering issues. Constant tail light replacing.

Headlights- the passenger side headlight would come on then go off whenever it wants to and now the low beam does not work. I have tested the connection and replaced the bulb several times and still does not work. When driving at night it makes it difficult to see. And is also against the law to not having working headlights. Trailer lights- the drivers side brake light/blinker on any trailer that’s hooked to my truck does not work. I have taken it the a local shop (street dynamics which is out of business now) several times over the last 5 years to see if they can fix the issue. The fix was to put a jumper wire from the truck brake light to the trailer connector. I still do not have a blinker on the driver side of the trailer. Windshield wipers- the windshield wipers will come on and off whenever they want. Some times when it is raining they will turn on with the switch then will turn off while driving or will stay on after the switch is turned off. The switch has been replaced and did not change anything. It is dangerous to drive the truck during inclement weather. I am a Police officer and have been for 17 years. In the last 12 plus years I have owned the truck which is a 2006 Dodge 2500 I have been told by several dodge technicians and mechanics that the issues I’m having is being caused by the TIPM. While researching the tipm I have found out all of my trucks issues are similar to a lot of other people’s 2006 dodge 2500s. I have had issues with the trailer brake lights since I bought it.

1. The Panic Alarm randomly goes off without be activated by anyone. Possibly a TIPM issue which couldn't be investigated because it randomly went away. Maybe it will go off in the middle of the night in my subdivision. Who knows it's unpredictable. 2. Right Turn Signal & Stop Light would not work on the trailer. I confirmed that it wasn't an issue with the trailer but it was a problem with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) Output (not working). The TIPM has a LONG history of intermittent electrical failures. This is a Safety Issue and a vehicle investigation for ALL vehicles that have TIPMS. TIPMS have been known to cause random vehicle stall & other intermittent random electrical failures and shut downs since 2006 when they were first put in vehicles. A RECALL is long overdue because this is ONLY 1 example of a minor problem. I've only owned the vehicle for 1 week...what's next? TIPMS can cause the vehicle to act intermittently crazy. No warning lamps or fault messages.

THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM NO MATTER WHICH TRAILER I AM PULLING. CHECKING FOR VOLTAGE STATES THAT THERE IS LOW VOLTAGE DUE TO THE TPIM. THIS OCCURRED AT 84,000. ALSO, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING THE IGINATION KEY CAN BE PULLED OUT. $1,000 IS ALOT TO REPAIR A TOWING PACKAGE AND I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG THIS WOULD LAST.

THE TRUCK WILL NOT POWER THE LEFT STOP LAMP OR SIGNAL LAMP ON ANY OF MY TRAILERS; HOWEVER, THE LEFT SIGNAL AND STOP LAMP ON THE TRUCK WORK PERFECTLY. DODGE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE TRUCK'S TIPM WHICH DOES NOT HAVE A FUSE FOR THAT PORTION OF THE TRAILER'S LIGHTING AND BURNED OUT INTERNALLY. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE ONLY WAY TO REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE TIPM WHICH COSTS $1026.00. DEALERSHIP ALSO INDICATED THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH THEY HAVE SEEN BEFORE. THERE IS NOTHING TO INDICATE THAT THE TRAILER LAMPS AREN'T WORKING EXCEPT TO PHYSICALLY OBSERVE THEM. THIS TIPM ALSO CONTROLS NUMEROUS OTHER THINGS IN THE TRUCK AND INFO FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND INTERNET SEARCHES INDICATE THERE ARE MANY SERIOUS PROBLEMS OCCURRING DUE TO THEM MALFUNCTIONING. THESE ARE DEFECTIVE UNITS THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY OVER $1000 TO MAKE A SIMPLE LIGHT FUNCTION, OR DEAL WITH A WORSE PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE STARTED DYING THEN TAKING BACK OFF, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEED ODOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO WOULDNT COME BACK UP WHILE I WAS STILL MOVING, THEN THE ABS LIGHT THE CHECK ENGING LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT AND WASHER FLUID LIGHT ALL CAME ON AND I LOST POWER TO THE TAIL LIGHTS HEAD LIGHTS AND THE WINDOWS STARTED ROOLING UP AND DOWN BY THEM SELVES. WHEN I GOT HOME AND TURNED OFF THE TRUCK I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE TIPM AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THE TRAILER I WAS PULLING MUST OF HAD A SHORT AND THATS WHAT CAUSED IT. I TOLD THEM THAT I WASNT PULLING A TRAILER AND THEY CALLED ME A LIAR AND HUNG UP ON ME THE WINDOWS CONTINUED TO ROLL UP AND DOWN UNTILL THE BATT WAS DISCONNECTED. THE NEXT MORNING I THEN HOOKED THE BATTERY BACK UP AND IT ALL WORKED FINE. NO PROBLEM A COUPLE WEEKS LATER IT STARTED AGAIN FINALL FOUND A SHORT IN THE LIGHT CONTROL ON THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT REPLACED THE PART THAT HOLDS THE BULBS AND THE PROBLEM CORRECTED ITSELF. NOW IT HAS SINCE STARTED DOING IT ALL AGAIN BUT WILL NOT RESET ITSELF I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE TIPM WOULD RESET ITSELF FIVE TIMES THEN WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEH WAS NOT PULLING A TRAILER WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND THE ONLY TRAILER I PULL WITH IT HAS THE LIGHTING PACKAGE WORKING FINE ON ALL TRUCKS I HOOK IT TO BUT NOT THIS ONE. PLEASE GET THE DODGE COMPANY TO RECALL THESE PEICES OF JUNK IM TIRED OF PAYING 1200 DOLLARS TO REPLACE A BUNCH OF PARTS TO FIND OUT ITS THEIR PIECE OF JUNK TIPM CAUSING ALL THE PROBLEMS.

THE LEFT (DRIVERS SIDE) LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT IN 2007, I REPLACED THE HEADLAMP BULB. OK. THE RIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE) LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT IN EARLY 2008. I REPLACED THE HEADLAMP BULB. OK. IN 2012 ,BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. I REPLACED BOTH LAMPS.OK. IN 2013, THE RIGHT (PASSENGERS SIDE) LOW BEAM HEADLAMP WENT OUT. I REPLACED THE RIGHT (PASSENGERS SIDE) LOW BEAM LAMP, BUT THE LIGHT STILL DOES NOT WORK. I TOOK TO SHOP, AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE ISSUE. THEY SAID, NO FUSES TO REPLACE, IT HAS A TIPM MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE LIGHTING. IN 2014, THE LEFT (DRIVERS SIDE) LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I REPLACED THE HEADLAMP BULB. STILL NO LIGHTS. IN 2014, I CALLED THE DODGE DEALER, SPOKE WITH SERVICE. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 DODGE RAM HEADLIGHTS, THAT IT IS PROBABLY THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) THAT NEEDS REPLACED. THE QUOTED COST OF THE TIPM WAS APPROXIMATELY $800 AND THE LABOR ABOUT $150. SUMMARY: MARCH 2015. THE 2006 DODGE RAM IS NOT OPERATIONAL EXCEPT DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. IT ONLY HAS OPERATIONAL HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS, NO LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. ALL NEW BULBS. I CANNOT AFFORD A REPAIR BILL OF ALMOST $1,000 TO GET A $20 HEADLIGHT TO OPERATE BY REPLACING THE TIPM . THE BLINKERS ARE ERRATIC. THE LEFT BLINKER COMES ON WHEN THE RIGHT IS APPLIED AND VISE VERSA. THE TRAILER WIRING FROM THE TIPM HAS NO FUSE AND IS SOME SORT OF RELAY AND CAN ONLY BE REPAIRED BY A DEALER. HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER DODGE TRUCK OWNERS. MANY DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES CAN CAUSE THIS FAILURE DUE TO ONLY A 15 AMP LIMIT BEFORE FAILURE. DEALERS SAY THEY CAN DO A REFLASH FOR AROUND $100.00 AND IF THAT DOES NOT WORK THE TIPM MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1000.00 AND THIS WOULD BE THE CASE EACH AND EVERY TIME THERE WAS A 15 AMP OVERLOAD TO THIS CIRCUIT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS DEALERS OR NOT OPEN 24 HOURS OR 7 DAYS A WEEK AND ALSO VERY EXPENSIVE. I OWN A 2006 DODGE RAM 2500 MEGA CAB. JUST LAST WEEK MY BLINKERS STARTED GOING CRAZY. I WILL SIGNAL THE LEFT BLINKER AND IT WILL SIGNAL RIGHT AND VISA VERSA. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS DAILY AND HAPPENS SO FREQUENT THAT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY TRUCK ANYWHERE. I HAVE NOT REPLACED THE SWITCH YET. IN DOING RESEARCH, IT SAYS YOU MUST PULL THE STEERING WHEEL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I JUST THOUGHT A WIRE MIGHT BE GROUNDING OUT. I THEN STARTED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND MANY MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE ON THEIR TRUCKS OF THE SAME YEAR. I DO HOPE YOU CONSIDER THIS A RECALL AS IT TO BE A VERY INTENSE SAFETY ISSUE AND I DO BELIEVE DODGE SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. DOING RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEM IT DOES COST A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT. TURN SIGNAL MALFUNCTION SWITCH DODGE RAM 2500,SIGNAL HAS POOR QUALITY PLATING ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD CAUSING A BUILDUP OF METAL IN THE DIELECTRIC GREASE ON THE SWITCH. THIS IN TURN CAUSES AN ERRATIC OR NO SIGNAL OPERATION AT ALL MAKING IT VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WHEN PULLING A TRAILER. DODGE SERVICE SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM BUT DODGE PARTS KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND TOLD ME WHAT PART TO BUY AN OR HOW TO FIX. I DROVE OVER 50,000 MILES AND ALMOST HAD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AND THE KANSAS HIGHWAY PATROL FINALLY VERIFIED THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE RECALLED THE 3500 RAM TRUCK BUT THIS IS VERY COMMON ON THE 1500,2500 MODELS ALSO. I HAVE REPLACED THE PART AT MY EXPENSE AND INSPECTED THE OLD SWITCH AND CLEANED IT TO KEEP IT AS A SPARE. *TR

THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH MY 2006 DODGE RAM 2500 . WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT SOMETIMES WHEN YOU SWITCH THE HEADLIGHT FROM LOW BEAM TO HIGH BEAM THEY WILL COMPLETELY GO OUT OR ONE SIDE WILL GO OUT. ALSO SOMETIMES WHEN YOU TURN ON YOUR LEFT BLINKER YOUR RIGHT BLINKER WILL COME ON. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS FROM HAULING TRAILERS WITH BAD WIRING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A TRAILER THAT IS NOT CONNECTED TO MY TRUCK CAN EFFECT THE LIGHTS. MY TRUCK IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM. REPAIRS WERE ESTIMATED AT OVER $400 AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNDER 38,652. THE VIN # WAS UNAVAILABLE.

2006 DODGE RAM 2500 DIESEL- THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR FREQUENTLY ACTIVATES THE TURN SIGNALS IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. I'VE NOTICED THAT ADJUSTING THE TILT COLUMN CORRECTS THE SIGNAL IN MOST CASES. 2006 DODGE RAM 2500. MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH FAILS WHEN NEEDED THE MOST. THIS ITEM CONTROLS THE WIPERS, TURN SIGNALS, HIGH/LOW BEAMS, AS WELL AS EMERGENCY FLASHERS. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHEN I FIRST REPORTED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND SURPRISE SURPRISE IT DIDN'T FAIL AT THE DEALERSHIP. NOW AFTER MY STANDARD WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED IT HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. THERE WAS NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIPS ARE NOW SAYING THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, BUT SINCE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, I NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR PARTS AS WELL AS LABOR FOR AN ITEM THAT CAUSES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. NOW IM TOLD THAT 2006 DODGE RAM 2500 HAS A TIPM IN PLACE OF THE FUSE THIS IS CALLED A TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. I SEARCHED THE TURBO DIESEL REGISTRY AND THERE ARE OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. THE TRUCK HAS 58,000 MILES AND IS GARAGE KEPT I CONSIDER EXCELLENT CONDITION. CHRYSLER WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY HELP. I NOW HAVE A $1,000 PLUS REPAIR BILL AND A TRUCK THAT I CANNOT DRIVE. TRUCK WAS PURCHASED USED WITH 16000 MILES. AT APPROX. 20000 MILES, AN ANOMALY WITH THE TURN SIGNAL OCCURRED: A "LEFT" TURN INPUT RESULTED IN A "RIGHT" TURN OUTPUT TO THE SIGNALS (ASSUMED FRONT AND REAR). THIS WAS INITIALLY UNNOTICED BY THE DRIVER, AS TRAFFIC CONDITIONS WERE DENSE. UPON BEGINNING THE LEFT HAND LANE CHANGE, A CHECK OF THE LEFT MIRROR REVEALED A CAR OVERTAKING ON THE LEFT. UPON REVIEW OF THE TURN SIGNAL, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT LEFT AND RIGHT TURN FUNCTIONS WERE REVERSED. AS THIS EVENT OCCURRED IN DENSE TRAFFIC, THE DRIVER WAS FORCED TO NURSE THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. ACTUATING THE HIGH/LOW BEAM CONTROL (ON COMMON TURN SIGNAL STALK) RECTIFIED THE PROBLEM FOR THE TIME BEING. THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO ITS HOME ADDRESS AND THEN WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER ENTERED THE PROBLEM INTO THE SYSTEM AND A REPLACEMENT CONTROL ASSEMBLY WAS ORDERED. THE DEALER MADE NO ATTEMPT TO RETAIN THE TRUCK DUE TO POTENTIAL LIFE SAFETY ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEFECTIVE SIGNAL DEVICE. THE TURN SIGNAL SUBSEQUENTLY FAILED IN TRAFFIC, RESULTING IN A MINOR PARKING LOT ACCIDENT. THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND LEFT THERE BY THE OWNER. UPON INSTALLATION OF THE NEW CONTROLLER, THE TRUCK WAS DRIVEN FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND SOLD. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY HAD REPLACED 4 OR 5 CONTROLLERS IN THE 2005 SERIES TRUCKS AND AT LEAST ONE IN THE 2006 SERIES. *NM
