The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that on numerous occasions while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the steering wheel started to shake violently from side to side. As a result, the contact had to depress the brake pedal to diminish the shaking of the steering wheel. No warning light was illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the VIN had been included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V350000 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

Hit a minor pothole at 70 MPH, had sudden "death wobble" and almost lost control of the vehicle. 100, 410 miles on the vehicle, have had minor wobble in the past occasionally. Steering parts replaced at about 37,000 miles due to failures, installed a steering dampener years ago due to the potential problem, also current tires have less than 8,000 miles on them. Clearly a known danger to these vehicles, why no action?

The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH and towing a 20-foot trailer with a back yard shed on the trailer, the contact hit a pothole on the highway that caused the steering wheel to turn violently to the left. The contact regained control and guided the vehicle off the roadway. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the front tie rod ends, steering linkage, and power steering module needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V528000 (Steering). THE CONTACT TURNED ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE BEARING CAUSED THE SERPENTINE BELT TO DETACH. THE SERPENTINE BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE WATER PUMP AND THE SERPENTINE BELT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE DEFECTIVE WATER PUMP TO ALBANY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 2315 SANTIAM HWY SE, ALBANY, OR 97322, (541) 967-9105). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE DESIGN WAS DIFFERENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING 60MPH MY TRUCK DEVELOPED "DEATH WOBBLE" THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY SIDE TO SIDE, I WAS UNABLE TO GAIN CONTROL UNTIL THE TRUCK WAS BELOW 15MPH. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL OCCASIONS THEREAFTER ANYWHERE FROM 40-65MPH. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH DETERMINED EVERYTHING WAS FINE AS FAR AS RECALL CONCERNS GO, I EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WEATHER IT WAS RECALL OR NOT, AND I WISH TO HAVE IT FIXED. THEY EXPRESSED THE TRUCK WAS FINE AND REFUSED TO LOOK FURTHER INTO IT. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT END STEERING LINKAGE WHICH THEY ALSO STATED WAS NOT A PROBLEM. THE "DEATH WOBBLE" RETURNED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS UNTIL FROM 12-4-17 TO ABOUT 2-10-2017 WHEN IT CAUSED ME TO LEAVE THE ROAD PULLING A TRAILER NEARLY CRASHING INTO A BRIDGE SUPPORT. AFTER GIVING UP ON THE DEALER I INVESTIGATED MYSELF AND FOUND THAT THE FRONT END TRACTION BAR LINK WAS BAD, THIS ALLOWED THE AXLE TO MOVE SIDE TO SIDE. WITH THE STEERING MOUNTED TO THE FRAME, AND THE AXLE MOVING THIS CAUSED THE STEERING DRAG LINK TO VIOLENTLY PUSH/PULL ON THE STEERING CAUSING THE POTENTIAL DEADLY CONDITION ESSENTIALLY THE STEERING WAS STEERING LEFT AND RIGHT WITHOUT MY CONTROL. AFTER REPLACING THE TRACTION BAR AND FRONT END LINKAGE THE TRUCK PERFORMED AS IT SHOULD WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS EXTREMELY COMMON AMONG RAM OWNERS OF 2002-20010 TRUCKS. THE PASSENGER TRACK BAR MOUNT AND SHOCK MOUNT HAS FRACTURES IN THE WELDS TO THE AXLE HOUSING. THE SHOCK BRACKET UNDERNEATH WEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSENGER SHOCK BOLTS IN IS COMPLETELY BROKEN AND THE BOTTOM OF THE SHOCK IS JUST FLOATING WITH NO STABILITY. THIS IS A FACTORY WELD AND THE 2013-2014S HAVE THE SAME ISSUE BUT ARE THE ONLY ONES WITH AN OFFICIAL RECALL. IT'S BEEN REPORTED ON MANY PREVIOUS YEARS AND CHRYSLER/DODGE WILL NOT FIX IT. I AM UNABLE TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE THE SHOCK BOLT AS IT IS BLOCKED BY THE TRACK BAR MOUNT, BUT I DID GET THE TRACK BAR MOUNT CLEARLY WITH THE MAJOR FRACTURES. THERE ARE MORE ON THE INNER SIDE OF THE PASSENGER AXLE HOUSING. THIS CREATES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF IT COMPLETELY FAILS.

THIS IS PREVALENT ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH PLUS. MY TRUCK CURRENTLY ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN IMPECCABLY MAINTAINED. THE ENTIRE TRUCK AND STEERING SHAKES AND THE ONLY WAY TO STAY ALIVE IS TO BRAKE HEAVILY UNTIL IT STOPS, USUALLY AT 30 TO 40 MPH. THIS IS NOT SAFE IN ANY WAY, BUT ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. HOWEVER I'M OUT OF POCKET ABOUT $2500.00. NOT A WORD FROM CHRYSLER OR A DIME IN RESTITUTION. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE NOW THAT I'VE DISCOVERED THIS AGREEMENT WITH NTSBA & FIATCHRYSLER. TWO YEARS AGO, WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED ON A CITY STREET, THE RIGHT TIE-ROD BALL JOINT BROKE AND THE TIE ROD DROPPED AND WEDGED INTO THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. BROUGHT ME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND SWERVED THE TRUCK INTO THE CURB. AT THE TIME, I WAS NOT AWARE OF A RECALL. I FIXED IT. SINCE THEN, THE FRONT TRANSMISSION BLEW UP. I REPLACED THE WHOLE FRONT END. THE RIGHT TIE-ROD BROKE ON THE NEW FRONT END. I FIXED IT AGAIN. THE OTHER DAY, THE RIGHT WHEEL BEARING SEIZED AND THE BRAKES FAILED. I WAS TRAVELLING AT 65 MPH TOWING A FLATBED TRAILER. BETWEEN 65 MPH AND 75 MPH, THERE IS A "SPEED WOBBLE" WHICH IN APRIL 2015 CAUSED THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE TO EXPLODE AND SHRED (DAMAGING THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WELL AND RIPPING OUT THE ABS HARNESS). FEB 2016 THIS "SPEED WOBBLE" WHICH HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE PURCHASE (SEPT 2014) HAS FINALLY CAUSED THE STEERING BOX TO BE FAULTY THROUGH THE RAPID BACK AND FORTH ACTION OF THE PITMAN ARM VIA LOWER STEERING LINKAGE. THUS CAUSING THE STEERING BOX TO RAPIDLY LEAK FLUID WHICH REDUCES POWER STEERING CAPABILITY TO ZERO, AND CAUSES HYDRO-ASSIST BRAKING TO HAVE ZERO FUNCTIONALITY. IF THE POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR IS NOT FILLED EVERY 30 MIN OF DRIVE-TIME, ALL FUNCTIONALITY OF THE POWER STEERING AND HYDRO-ASSIST BRAKING IS LOST. THIS "SPEED WOBBLE" IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE STYLE OF STEERING LINKAGE THAT IS INSTALLED OEM ON 2003-2008 RAM 2500/3500 MY'S, WHICH IS NEITHER ACCEPTABLE NOR SUSTAINABLE.

NO ACCIDENTS OR FAILURES DEALER SAYS MANUFACTURER IS ONLY RELEASING LIMITED AMOUNT OF SUPPLIES PER DEALER AND THEY CANNOT REORDER TILL CURRENT STOCK IS INSTALLED. DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE TO WAIT TILL OTHERS AHEAD OF ME HAVE THEIR WORK COMPLETED AND THEY ARE HAVING ISSUES GETTING CUSTOMERS TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS. NOV. 2012 I BOUGHT MY 2007 DODGE RAM TRUCK 2500 FOR $21,000 SOON AFTER, WE REALIZED IT HAD SOME FRONT END PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT FOR A FRONT END ALIGNMENT THE FOLLOWING MONTH - WHICH DID NOT IMPROVE THE FRONT END STEERING LOOSENESS, VIBRATION AND "CLUNKING". I TOOK IT INTO A LARGE, LOCAL TIRE/ FRONT END SERVICE BUSINESS FOR AN EVALUATION. THE FIRST THING THEY TOLD ME IS WHAT EVERYONE WAS TELLING ME, " THESE DODGE TRUCKS ARE KNOWN FOR BAD FRONT ENDS". THEY DID HOWEVER, THEN TELL ME THAT THE TRUCK WOULD NEED ALMOST $1,000 WORTH OF WORK TO MAKE IT RIGHT. I DID NOT HAVE THEM DO THE REPAIRS BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD IT, I HAD BEEN TOLD BY SO MANY THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR DODGE TRUCKS AND I THOUGHT I SHOULD GET ANOTHER OPINION LATER. THE TRUCK HAS THREE OPEN SAFETY RECALLS ON IT. I TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP SO THE SERVICE WRITER COULD LOOK AT THE FRONT END (CAME OUT TO THE PARKING LOT AND LOOKED AT IT) SHE SAID THAT IT DID NEED STEERING RECALL REPAIRS. I ASKED THAT PARTS BE ORDERED FOR THAT, PLUS AIRBAG FOR THE THIRD RECALL. SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T HAVE ANY PARTS, "THE MANUFACTURER ONLY SENDS US A FEW PARTS A MONTH SO WHOEVER IS ON THE TOP OF THE LIST WILL GET A CALL WHEN THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE". I LEFT MY NAME/NUMBER. WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IT HAD 64,650 MILES AND NOW, THREE YEARS LATER ONLY 67,900. I WAS RELEGATED TO KEEPING THE VEHICLE UNDER 55 MPH SO DRIVING THE FREEWAYS IN CALIF WAS AVOIDED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. I COULD NOT AFFORD ANOTHER VEHICLE SO I WAS STUCK WITH THE RAM. AFTER AN INCIDENT ON A TWO LANE RD AROUND JULY OF 2014 (WOBBLE IN A CURVE FOUND ME IN THE ONCOMING LANE OF TRAFFIC) I DID AS MUCH RESEARCH AS POSSIBLE THUS FINDING THAT MANY WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE WERE RECALLS AND BULLETINS AS FOUND OUT BY MY LOCAL MECHANIC REGARDING THIS VERY PROBLEM. $900.00 AND CHANGE LATER THE PROBLEM WAS FINALLY FIXED. THE PITMAN ARM WAS AT THE WRONG ANGLE WHICH PUT UNDO STRESS ON THE BUSHINGS FOR TIE ROD AND DRAG LINK. THIS CREATED WEAR THUS LOOSENING THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM. DODGE LET THIS PROBLEM PERSIST KNOWING THAT THE LOSS OF CONTROL WAS A CERTAINTY...LOOK AT THE RECALLS AND BULLETINS. SEARCHED ONLINE AND SAW THAT SEIZED REAR BRAKE CALIPERS ARE NOT UNCOMMON SO I REPLACED THE ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND PADS. MADE SEVERAL SHORT TRIPS AND THOUGHT IT WAS RESOLVED. DURING A 1 HOUR DRIVE THE PROBLEM RETURNED AND I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE AND STOPPED TO INSPECT. JUST THOUGHT YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO IT. ON MARCH 12 WE WERE RETURNING FROM SKIING, DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WHEN THE LEFT FRONT TIE ROD BROKE ON OUR 2007 RAM 2500. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN AND PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE MECHANIC WHERE THE LEFT FRONT TIE ROD WAS REPLACED, AS WELL AS THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS. WHEN DODGE HAD THE RECALL ON THIS PART WE TOOK THE TRUCK IN AND WERE TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY ON THE REPLACEMENT PARTS THAT HAD BEEN PUT ON FOR THE BROKEN TIE ROD AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE US FOR THE COST OF FIXING THE ORIGINAL TIE ROD THAT BROKE. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SUPPOSEDLY CHANGED OUT THE REPLACEMENT TIE ROD. MY CONCERN WITH THE RECALL IS: IF THE ORIGINAL TIE ROD WASN'T DEFECTIVE DODGE WOULDN'T BE REPLACING SO MANY REPLACEMENTS. THE DEALER THEN DIAGNOSED THAT THE DIESEL EXHAUST SENSOR, EGR VALVE, GASKET, CRANK CASE SENSOR AND THE DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, IN ADDITION TO AN UNKNOWN COMPONENT OF THE STEERING GEAR BOX.THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COMPLETELY REPAIRED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS STILL ILLUMINATED. (THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A PART FROM A OUTSIDE PARTS HOUSE TO REPLACE THE ONE BAD PART). I BELIEVED THEM AND HAD THE WHOLE SYSTEM REPLACED FOR OVER $1100. FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING SOUTH ON I15 WHILE TOWING A 28 FOOT TRAVEL TRAILER, WITH MY WIFE AND CHILDREN, THAT I HAD PULLED SEVERAL TIMES PREVIOUSLY WITH NO ISSUES. ANOTHER OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON I84 WHILE TRAVELING WEST BETWEEN BLISS AND MOUNTAIN HOME, WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AGAIN TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT, AND AS THE TRUCK CROSSED AN EXPANSION JOINT. AT THAT TIME, OTHER THAN THE VIOLENT STEERING SHAKE, IT FELT LIKE THE TRUCK WAS BUCKING, LIKE THE REAR TIRES WERE COMING OFF THE GROUND. IT HAS HAPPENED ONCE OR TWICE SINCE THEN, SAME SCENARIO, FREEWAY EXPANSION JOINTS CAUSE THE SHAKE TO START, PULLING OVER AND SLOWING DOWN TO 20-30 MPH GETS IT TO STOP. I HAD RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND IT WAS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM, THAT DODGE WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK IT OUT BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. THEY TOLD ME THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG, BUT THEY COULD INSTALL "UPGRADED" STEERING COMPONENTS FOR $1000. I THEN EMAILED DODGE, WITH NO RESOLVE. NOW, ON JULY 12TH, 2013, WHILE TRAVELING EAST WITH THREE FRIENDS, ON EITHER I86 OR I15 TOWARDS JACKSON, WY, THE SHAKE OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN AN HOUR! NEEDLESS TO SAY, WE ALL LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE SAFETY OF THE TRUCK FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. EACH TIME IN OCCURRED, IT WAS A ROUGH SPOT, OR TRANSITION ON THE FREEWAY. NOW, 13 MONTHS LATER AND 27,000 MILES ON THE REPLACED LINKAGE, MY LEFT OUTER TIE ROD SHEARED OFF WHILE TURNING A CORNING AT AROUND 15MPH. SINCE I TOOK THE LINKAGE AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF, IT ONLY HAS A 12 MONTH WARRANTY. IF THEY INSTALLED IT, WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. AS SAD AS THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE, I AM WRITING REGARDING YOUR INVESTIGATION/RECALL ON THE 2500/3500 NEWER TRUCKS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 50MPH, AND AFTER HITTING A BUMP/POTHOLE IN THE ROADWAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, NEARLY CAUSING A COLLISION. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IS THROUGH VEHICLE ONE AND THEY SENT AN INSPECTOR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DECLINED THE REPAIR SINCE THE TSB ISSUED BY DODGE ALLOWS FOR A MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE MOVEMENT OF .045 INCH. DURING THE SECOND INCIDENT I WAS NOT ABLE TO SAFELY STEER MY TRUCK AND ENDED UP HALFWAY INTO THE ADJOINING LANE BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IF THERE HAD BEEN A VEHICLE NEXT TO ME. I AM NOW STUCK DRIVING THIS VEHICLE OR PAYING NEARLY $2000 TO REPAIR IT MYSELF. DODGE HAS REPLACED THE ORIGINAL UNSAFE STEERING LINKAGE WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED ONE THAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SUBJECT TO THIS UNSAFE CONDITION. THE REAL ISSUE HERE IS THAT DODGES TSB FOR THIS PROBLEM IS TOO RESTRICTIVE AND WILL ALLOW MY EXTENDED WARRANTY NOT TO COVER THE REPAIR. THREE MONTHS AGO, DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING ABOUT 65 MPH I CAME UPON A BRIDGE APPROACH SLAB AND ONCE I HIT IT THE TRUCK BEGAN VIOLENTLY SHAKING. AFTERWARDS I DID RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE AND DISCOVERED WHAT I EXPERIENCED MATCHED WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE "DODGE DEATH WOBBLE". I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND THEY SAID DODGE HAS ISSUED A REPAIR BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE HOWEVER ALSO SAID THAT THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THE REPAIRS DODGE RECOMMENDS FIXES THE PROBLEM. (THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE ALSO SUPPORTS THAT COMMENT). ON NOVEMBER 21 WHILE TRAVELING FOR THANKSGIVING I EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" FIVE TIMES WITHIN AN HOUR. I WAS TRAVELING ALONG INTERSTATE 10 AT 65-75 MPH AND EVERY BUMP, BRIDGE APPROACH SLAB, OR POT HOLE THAT WAS HIT WOULD INITIATE THIS HORRIFIC SHAKING OF THE TRUCK. I LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK EXITING THE PAVED SURFACE AND CAME TO REST IN THE BARROW PIT. BOTH INCIDENTS WERE ON PAVED FREEWAY (INTERSTATE 215 AND INTERSTATE 80 IN UTAH). I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE NARROWLY AS I NARROWLY MISSED A TRACTOR TRAILOR. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THIS TRUCK FROM HENRY DAY FORD OF WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH. THEY CERTIFIED THE USED TRUCK WITH A FULL INSPECTION OF THE STEERING SYSTEM. APPARENTLY, A KNOWN ISSUE WITH A "RECALL" FOR STEERING LINKAGE (SAFETY RECALL H46-MOPAR STEERING LINKAGE). RECALL WAS COMPLIED WITH DURING SEPTEMBER 2009. PROBLEM OBVIOUSLY STILL EXISTS EVEN AFTER RECALL COMPLIANCE.

I PURCHASED A USED 2007 DODGE RAM 2500 4X4 5.9 LITER DIESEL WITH 52,523 MILES FROM A DEALER ON 1/18/10. THE TRUCK HAS NO PRIOR DAMAGE OR REPAIRS PER CARFAX AND THE DEALER INFO. I AM EXPERIENCING FRONT END HARMONIC WHEEL HOP AND SHAKE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF APPROX 50-70MPH. THIS WHEEL SHAKE OCCURS WHENEVER THE TRUCK RUNS OVER AN IRREGULAR ROAD SURFACE,POTHOLE OR BRIDGE TO ROAD DROP. I HAVE RESEARCHED ON LINE FORUMS AND HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BY OTHER DODGE TRUCK OWNERS WHICH ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME CONDITION KNOWN AS A "DEATH WOBBLE". I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO A DODGE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DODGE RECALL. THEY REPLACED THE PITMAN ARM AND LOWER LINK AS PRESCRIBED. UNFORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM AT ALL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 2500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 50 AND 70 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN VIBRATING EXCESSIVELY AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO FALL APART. THE VIBRATION ALSO FORCED A VEHICLE DRIVING NEXT TO THE CONTACT TO SWITCH LANES. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE HAS BEEN KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE FRONT END ALIGNED; HOWEVER, AFTER THREE ALIGNMENTS, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

I OWN A 2007 DODGE 2500 MEGA CAB AND HAVE NOW EXPERIENCED THE SO CALLED DODGE "DEATH-WOBBLE" ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHETHER A SMOOTH ROAD OR IF I HIT A SMALL POTHOLE THE TRUCK BEGINS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND DOES NOT STOP UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY (UNDER 30 MPH). I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE VIA THE WEB AND HAVE SEEN A NEWS REPORT OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHERS WITH THE NEWER MODELS OF THE DODGE RAM SERIES. I CURRENTLY HAVE THE VEHICLE SCHEDULED FOR INSPECTION (2 DEC 09) WITH THE DEALER FOR POSSIBLE REPAIRS BUT WANTED TO SUBMIT A COMPLAINT AS I BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY OTHER MOTORISTS AS REPORTED BY WSOC IN CHARLOTTE NC. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 2500 DIESEL. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH HE LOST VEHICLE CONTROL. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT TIE ROD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, IN WHICH HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 2500 MEGA CAB. WHEN DRIVING SPEEDS HIGHER THAN 55 MPH THE FRONT-END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIMMY IF HE STRIKES A SMALL BUMP OR CRACK IN THE ROAD. USUALLY AFTER BRAKE APPLICATION THE WOBBLING STOPS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN ADDED THAT THE "DEATH WOBBLE" WAS A CONSISTENT FAILURE WITH HIS MODEL TYPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER, AND A TEMPORARY REPAIR WAS MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THEY WOULD NOT CONFIRM THAT THE FAILURE EXISTS WITH THIS MODEL TYPE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

I HAVE A DODGE 2007 2500 PICKUP 4X4 DIESEL 6.7. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHAKING WHEN DRIVING 55-70 MPH AND HITTING A RIDGE OR EXPANSION JOINT ON THE ROAD. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIRES AFTER THE FIRST TWO TIMES IT HAPPENED, I REPLACED THE TIRES AND EXPERIENCED IT 3 MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO THE SHOP. AFTER GETTING A ROD REPLACED IN THE FRONT END AND THE SHOP STATING IT WAS FIXED, IT HAPPENED AGAIN WITHIN THE NEST 150 MILES. I BEGAN SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR ANSWERS AND CAME ACROSS THE "DODGE DEATH WOBBLE" AND FOUND THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THIS TRUCK FOR YEARS. I REALLY BELIEVED WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST FEW TIMES, I WAS ABOUT TO WRECK OR WORSE, WRECK SOMEONE ELSE. THE TRUCK SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY THE DRIVER HAS ZERO CONTROL. IT MUST LOOK PRETTY BAD FROM OTHER DRIVERS VIEWS AS THEY QUICKLY STOP AND GET OUT OF THE WAY. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A NEW TRUCK AND SHOULD BE A RECALL AND NOT MAKE THE BUYER HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE PARTS REPLACED AS I HAVE HAD TO DO. THE TRUCK IS SO BAD I CANNOT ALLOW IT TO BE DRIVEN BY MY WIFE OR ANYONE ELSE FOR FEAR THEY COULD BE KILLED. I AM EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH MY STEERING ON MY 2007 2500 RAM, I TOOK IT INTO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND FOUND THAT THE STEERING LINKAGE IS UNDER RECALL. THE PROBLEM I DESCRIBED TO THEM IS IDENTICAL TO THAT OF THE RECALL DESCRIPTION. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS SHOT AND I NEED TO REPLACE. THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE SINCE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 47000 MILES AND THE DESCRIPTION MATCHES THAT OF THE RECALL.
