The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. SUBMISSION FROM CONSTITUENTS RE 2008 DODGE RAM 2500 PICK UP TRUCK RECALL NOTICE. (FULL DOCUMENT NOT IMAGED). *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED, HE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK FOR SEVERAL YEARS. WHENEVER HE WENT OUT OF TOWN, THE VEHICLE WOULD SEVERELY VIBRATE. THE PROBLEMS INCLUDED, THE TIE RODS AND FRONT END ISSUES. FINALLY, THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED IN A RECALL LETTER, HE RECEIVED. ALSO, THE EGR HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 950.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE RAM 2500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE CONVERTER DEISEL EXHAUST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,800.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE RAM 2500 DIESEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND OXYGEN SENSORS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO AND EGR TEMP TUBE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,951 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

I TOOK MY 2008 DODGE 2500 INTO THE DEALER AFTER EXPERIENCING A "POP" SENSATION IN THE FRONT END AT LOW SPEED (5-10MPH). THE DEALER STATED THAT BOTH TIE ROD ENDS WHERE WORN OUT AS WELL AS BOTH UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS. I SPOKE WITH THE MANAGER AS THE TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND HE STATED THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I THEN CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER HELP LINE. INITIALLY THEY GAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY MAY BE ABLE TO ASSIST ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER IN A RETURN PHONE CALL, THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE. OF COURSE I ASKED THEM HOW WAS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE WHOLE FRONT END TO BE SHOT AT 70,000 MILES WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE A HEAVY DUTY SUSPENSION AS IT IS A DIESEL AND THE TRUCK HAS NEVER HAULED ANY KIND OF WEIGHT OR BEEN OFF ROAD. THE OTHER POINT I MADE WITH THEM WAS THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM BECAUSE IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE TIE ROD ENDS, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY FROM THE TIE ROD ENDS ALL THE WAY TO THE PITTMAN ARM BECAUSE IT WAS REDESIGNED. GO FIGURE! ADDITIONALLY I HAVE HAD THE TURBO CHARGER REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE THE DEALER SAID THE UNIT WAS BAD. MY MAIN CONCERN NOW IS THE STEERING AS IT IS GOING TO COST ME $2500.00 TO CORRECT AND I DO NOT HAVE THAT LAYING AROUND. *TR

TRUCK WAS BROUGHT BACK TO DEALERSHIP EIGHT TIMES IN FIRST SIX MONTHS. DODGE STATED THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE. PROBLEMS CONTINUES AND ESCALATED. TRUCK CONTINUES TO OPERATE ERRATICALLY. IT HAS COME TO THE POINT THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER AND JUST SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS OCCURRED SIX TIMES BETWEEN NOVEMBER 2009 AND DECEMBER 2010. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED IN 7 MONTHS. I WAS SITTING AT A LIGHT AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE, THE EXHAUST BRAKE ENGAGED AND PREVENTED ME FROM MOVING FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE BY SLIGHTLY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR A LITTLE AT A TIME. WHEN I APPROACHED MY NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE RPM DROPPED TO 500 AND THEN SHOT UP TO 1200 RPMS. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD AND ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN IN THE CROSSWALK. IT ALSO PUT ME HALF WAY INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION. MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT A NEW 2008 DODGE RAM 2500 DIESEL A YEAR AGO. WITHIN THE FIRST 500 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE CALLED THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL AND NOT TO WORRY, JUST DRIVE THE TRUCK, STOP, TURN IT OFF, RESTART AND DRIVE IT, UNTIL THE LIGHT GOES OFF. THE LIGHT TURNED OFF THE NEXT TIME WE STARTED THE TRUCK, SO WE FIGURED IT WAS OK, MAYBE WE WERE OVERREACTING. WELL A MONTH LATER IT HAPPENS AGAIN, WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WERE TOLD THE SAME THING, DON'T WORRY, JUST START IT, DRIVE, TURN IT OFF, AND TURN IT BACK ON. WE TOOK THE TRUCK IN THE THIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED, THEY TOLD US IT WAS NO BIG DEAL, THAT THIS WAS "A NORMAL PROBLEM" AND THE EMISSIONS SENSOR JUST NEEDED A CLEANING, WHICH THEY DID. WE WERE TOLD WHEN WE PICKED IT UP THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE, BUT TWO WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND THEY CLEANED THE SENSOR AGAIN. RIGHT AFTER WE GOT THE TRUCK BACK, WE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO POWER, IT STRUGGLED TO GET UP A SMALL HILL, WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP, AND THEY HELD IT FOR FOUR DAYS. WHEN WE GOT IT BACK THEY TOLD US THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, BUT THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENED BRING IT RIGHT BACK AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TURBO AND THE EMISSIONS SENSOR AGAIN. WE HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS TRUCK FOR A YEAR, AND I HAVE CALLED DODGE WITH MY COMPLAINT BUT WAS TOLD TO EMAIL THE COMPLAIN, AND WHEN I EMAILED IT, I WAS TOLD TO CALL, WHICH TO ME SEEMS LIKE A RUN AROUND. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE 2500 MEGACAB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S TURBO WAS FAILING, WHICH OCCURS EVERY THREE THOUSAND MILES. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATES DUE TO CARBON BUILD UP IN THE TURBO BECAUSE IT WAS NOT BEING USED. THE CONTACT AND HIS WIFE WERE EXPERIENCING LETHARGIC SICKNESS EVERY TIME THEY RODE IN THE VEHICLE. THE ISSUE WITH THE TURBO HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE MARCH OF 2008. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR REPAIRS AND THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THEY DO "BAND AID" WORK INSTEAD OF PROPERLY REPAIRING THE CARBON BUILD-UP. THE FIREWALL INSTALLATION PAD MADE CONTACT WITH THE EGR COOLER ON THE ENGINE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY HAD NO INFORMATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V641000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL). THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD CUT THE INSTALLATION OUT OF THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS HESITANT TO AGREE WITH THAT TYPE OF REPAIR BECAUSE IT WOULD AFFECT THE HEATING SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 5,000.

DEALERS HAVE HAD TO PUT A PORT ON TURBO, CLEAN EXHAUST, WRAP EXHAUST, AND CLAIM THAT CUSTOMERS ARE IDLING TOO MUCH. POLLUTION CONTROL DEVICES ARE OBVIOUSLY BAD DESIGN. THEY BURN EXTRA DIESEL IN EXHAUST TO BURN SOOT AND MAKE MILEAGE GO DOWN BY 10MPG. 2006 TO 2008 CHANGE LOST SIGNIFICANT MPG. ALMOST SINCE THE FIRST DAY, I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALER FOR A FAILING EMISSION SYSTEM. THE DPF AND REGENERATION SYSTEM IS CONSTANTLY CLOGGING AND RENDERING MY VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE. WHEN THIS OCCURS, I RETURN TO THE DEALER, HAVE THE PART CLEANED, OR REPLACED, AND I AM TOLD THAT IT WILL OCCUR AGAIN. ACCORDING TO MY DEALERS SERVICE MANAGER, AND DODGE, THERE IS NO KNOWN FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. UPON SPEAKING TO DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE REGARDING A BUYBACK OF MY VEHICLE, I HAVE BEEN HUNG UP ON, PUT ON HOLD FOR HOURS, TOLD MY DEALER HAS TO BUY IT BACK, OR TOLD TO HIRE A LAWYER. WHEN RESEARCHING THIS MATTER, I HAVE FOUND THAT I AM NOT ALONE WITH THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW 6.7 DODGE TRUCKS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE. HE HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NINE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM NOT TO RETURN BECAUSE HE WAS ABUSING THE VEHICLE. DAIMLER CHRYSLER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE AS WELL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
