May 13,2020. 11:32am Driving north, my drive side tire violently shook & suddenly gave way pulling me hard left. I struggling to keep truck in my lane but lost control of steering , the airbags also deployed. Blocking my view. The rode was a blind spot . I thought it was a tire failure. Be of the drop & hard pull to left. While the rode was curving right . I could not get truck to fallow curve. Causing truck to cross into oncoming lane. I never saw the other car . With air bags deployed. I thought I lost a tire and hit ditch was lifted up and hit ground hard. I was told I truck hit another car after crash . Hitting a car coming the other way. Causing a young women’s death. The tie rod had a clean break swing freely after break. In March 2020 had pulling or with extra movement off & on . Took to shop, they put a new sway bar on it. Seemed to help, no problems until this sudden catastrophic Paul and drop hard enough to deploy airbags. Truck is totaled but is here & available for inspection. Steve Erwin @ Scientific Analysis Inc. in Dallas TX 214 320-8686 has many pictures & Analysis. He mainly does accident recreations. He mentioned we need to find metals specialist to examine part failures.Due to failure being close to impact.
This recall N62 13V-528 was never done by Duwanne Lanes Everett WA even though I was told by the dealership service team that they had done this recall as requested while they had my truck for over 3mo ths time. On April 3 ,2022 my vehicle had a cautostraphic failure of my steerwheell column & caused my front left tire to break totally off the front steering stabilizer front ball joint tie rod end pitman arm the wheel was free spinning .I had no steering control at all while driving 65 mph on I5 in the center lane. I HAVE HAD THE TIRES BALANCED AND REBALANCED. THE VIBRATION IS NOT AFFECTED, AND REMAINS THE SAME. I HAVE READ OF A RECALL THAT ADDRESSES FRONT-END STEERING PROBLEMS REGARDING THE LEFT-FRONT TIE ROD BALL JOINT . I CAN'T FIND IF THIS APPLIES TO THE CONDITION ON MY TRUCK, BUT IT MAY BE POSSIBLE. FINALLY I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THE IDENTICAL CASES UNDER COMPARABLE CONDITIONS. I RECEIVED RECALL N62 FOR MY RAM 3500. I TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE LOCAL DEALER IN EARLY JANUARY 2013 AND THEY PERFORMED THE VISUAL CHECK AND CONFIRMED MY TRUCK NEEDED TO HAVE THE TIE RODS REPLACED. I WAS PLACED ON A WAITING LIST AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CALLED WHEN THE PART CAME IN. A MONTH LATER I CALLED BACK AND THEY SAID THEY STILL DIDN'T HAVE THE PART AND THAT THEY WERE ONLY RECEIVING ONE PART PER WEEK FROM DODGE TO BE USED ON THE RECALLS. LAST WEEK I HAD MY TRUCK AT MY MECHANIC FOR SOME OTHER WORK AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE CAN CALL UP TO THE SAME DEALER AND GET THE PARTS IN THE SAME DAY SO HE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. TODAY, MARCH 18, AND I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THAT DODGE HAD CANCELLED THE RECALL AND THAT A NEW RECALL NOTICE WOULD BE SENT OUT. APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP BARELY A FOOT BEFORE A CONCRETE WALL, COMING TO REST PERPENDICULARLY WITH THE BED OF THE TRUCK BLOCKING THE ENTIRE RIGHT ONCOMING LANE. AFTER INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BALL JOINT AND SOCKET HAD WORN TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT THE BALL JUST SLIPPED OUT WHILE DRIVING. SO FAR GREAT EFFORT BY THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER HAS BEEN MADE TO ATTEMPT TO CONVINCE ME THAT THIS IS A NATURAL OCCURRENCE AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING UNUSUAL ABOUT THIS HAPPENING. ALSO, THEY WILL NOT ASSUME THE COST FOR MAKING THE TIE ROD ENDS ROAD-WORTHY AGAIN, WHICH TO THEM IS $1,200. NO WARNING SIGNS. IS IT THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR NOT ONLY AN ENTIRELY NEW STEERING KIT BUT ANY DAMAGES THAT MAY HAVE COME FROM THE "NATURAL ACCIDENT" OF THE TIE ROD END SUDDENLY AND IRREVERSIBLY POPPING OUT OF ITS SOCKET? DODGE IN BELLEVUE WASHINGTON IS REFUSING TO HAVE CHRYSLER PAY THE RECALL REPAIR. THEY TRIED TO TELL CHRYSLER THAT THIS WAS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE. I DISAGREE. IT IS PLASTERED ALL OVER THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. 2003-2011 DODGE RAM 2500/3500 VEHICLES. I HAVE REPLACED STEERING STABILIZER WITH A LARGER ONE, NEW TRACK BAR BUSHINGS, OUTER TIE ROD END, HAD THE WHEELS AND TIRES CHECKED AND BALANCED, AND AN ALIGNMENT DONE. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP, A BIG TRUCK ALIGNMENT SHOP, AND A 4WHEEL DRIVE SHOP. ALL OF THEM SAID IT CHECKS OUT GOOD BUT THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. IT THEN BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL AND FELT LIKE IT DIDN'T HAVE POWER STEERING. TOOK THE TRUCK TO MECHANIC ON MAY 13, 2010 AND HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING GEAR BOX REPLACED. A WEEK BEFORE TAKING IN MY 2005 RAM 2500 TRUCK TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING HAD CHANGED. THE TRUCK WANDERED, THERE WAS A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND MID WAY THROUGH A TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP. THREE DAYS BEFORE TAKING IN MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER, THE STEERING GEAR BOX STARTED TO MAKE A GROWLING NOISE. AFTER TAKING MY TRUCK IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, THE ASE TECH THAT WAS GIVEN TO WORK ORDER FOR MY TRUCK DECLARED IT SAFE FOR ROAD USE. 8 HOURS LATER AFTER PLEADING WITH THE HEAD SERVICE MANAGER TO TAKE MY TRUCK FOR A ROAD TEST, THE STEERING GEAR BOX THAT WAS DEEMED SAFE BY THE ASE TECH WAS CONDEMNED BY THE HEAD SERVICE MANAGER. TO DATE THE NEW STEERING GEAR BOX IS ON ORDER FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP EVEN AFTER I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGERS AT JOHN ELWAY DODGE THAT THE PART WAS IN STOCK. *JB

ALSO, CONTACTED DAIMLER CHRYSLER, AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HEAR OF THE PROBLEM. HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE TO FIND OUT IF THEY COULD HELP WITH THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER NOTICED THE PROBLEM JUNE 28, 2005. HE HAS A FRIEND WHO HAS THE SAME VEHICLE, AND TOOK VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. HE FELT IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED IT CONTINUED TO DRIVE, BUT IT WAS LIKE DRIVING A VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING, AND IT GOT HARDER THE FARTHER IT WAS DRIVEN.*AK
