TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DRIVE DUE TO THE GEAR SHIFTER, BUT LATER THE VEHICLE WOULD TAKE OFF. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHIFT FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH 172,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION WAS ALREADY FAILING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY TRUCK SHIFTED ITSELF IN 4WD LOW WHILE GOING 75 MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHICH DESTROYED MY TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION AND CAUSED MY DRIVE SHAFT TO COME LOOSE WHICH I FEEL IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT AS IT COULD HAVE ROLLED MY TRUCK. I HAVE FOUND OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN APPARENTLY BECAUSE OF A ELECTRONIC TRANSFER CASE MOTOR READING THE WRONG SIGNAL AND SHIFTING INTO LOW RANGE WHETHER THE TRUCK IS MOVING OR EVEN RUNNING. IT'S SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN ESPECIALLY WITH A MANUAL 4WD SHIFTER

TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) FAILED, CAUSING VEHICLES ENGINE TO STALL AT 75MPH ON FREEWAY. CONDITION RESULTED IN A "NO-START" SCENARIO. BECAUSE OF THIS FAILED TIPM, THE ONBOARD DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER HAS NO POWER, RESULTING IN AN INABILITY TO DIAGNOSE WITH OBDII SCAN TOOLS. THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A POSSIBLY FATAL ACCIDENT, AS THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT 75MPH ON A MAJOR FREEWAY WITH MODERATE TRAFFIC. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED, ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE LOST. THESE PARTS ARE PRONE TO FAILING, BUT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. AN AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT IS AVAILABLE AT THE PRICE OF APPROX. $600, BUT THESE PARTS ARE SPECIAL ORDER, AND TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO RECEIVE.

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, WHEN I'M AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK SHAKES AND BOUNCES UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL I SLOW TO AROUND 50 MPH. I HAVE HAD BALL JOINTS, TIE RODS, SHOCKS AND STEERING STABILIZER REPLACED, PLUS NEW TIRES AND MULTIPLE ALIGNMENTS PERFORMED. MY MASTER MECHANIC SAID NON OF THIS WILL REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE Y TYPE STEERING SETUP IS THE PROBLEM, THE DEALER TOLD ME IT NEEDS TO BE UPDATED TO THE 09 STEERING BUT IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL. YET YOU CAN NO LONGER EVEN BUY THE Y STEERING FROM THE DEALER THE WILL ONLY SELL YOU THE 09 T STYLE. HOW IS THIS OK? I DO NOT HAVE $265.00 TO PAY FOR JUST THE PARTS NEVER MIND LABOR, BECAUSE THE P.O.S. TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACE "$7500.00" LIKE EVERY OTHER 47RE IN THE WORLD. ALSO 3 OUT OF MY 6 SEAT BELTS NO LONGER RETRACT OR THEY GET STUCK HALFWAY OUT AND IT TAKES 10 MINUTES TO GET IT TO WORK. I WOULD LIKE TO AT LEAST HAVE THE STEERING AND SEAT BELTS ADDRESSED ASAP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 3500. THE CONTACTED STATED THAT HE POWERED DOWN THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED INTO MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE KEY WAS PARTIALLY HANGING FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE ENGINE THEN INDEPENDENTLY RESTARTED AND ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED, CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT RE-ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND REMOVED THE KEY COMPLETELY FROM THE IGNITION HOWEVER, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT THEN DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND THE ENGINE FINALLY POWERED DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CENTRAL COMPUTER WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000. UPDATED 1/14/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED ONE DAY THE VEHICLE STARTED UP BY ITSELF WHILE IT WAS PARKED OUTSIDE IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE HIT THE CONSUMERS OTHER VEHICLES, AND PUSHED THEM SIDE BY SIDE. THE CONSUMER HEARD THE NOISE AND IMMEDIATELY JUMPED INTO THE TRUCK TO TRY AND TURN OFF THE IGNITION, BUT IT WAS NOT ON. HE PUT THE CLUTCH IN AND TOOK IT OUT OF GEAR, BUT IT JUST REVVED UP MORE. THE HORN WAS BLARING AND SMOKE WAS BOILING OUT. HE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, BY OPENING THE HOOD AND DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. A VIBRATION OCCURS WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (ABOVE 65 MPH) SEEMS TO LIGHTEN UP AT 75 MPH BUT DOES NOT DISAPPEAR. THE VIBRATION FEELS TO BE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. TIRES WERE REBALANCED AND ROTATED WITH NO CURE. NEW TIRES WERE PURCHASED, ROTATED AND REBALANCED TWICE WITH NO CURE. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THE FOLLOWING ARE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE POSTED ON WEBSITES CONCERNING THIS VIBRATION. DODGE SEEMS TO COMPLETELY DENY ALL KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FAILED. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS AN AFTERMARKET PRODUCT THAT WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. HE FEELS THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD USE BETTER PARTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 83,000. I HAVE HAS THREE CLUTCHES GO OUT ON MY 1 TON DODGE DUALLY IN LESS THAN 3,000 MILES IN A 6 WEEK PERIOD OF TIME AN THE FIRST TIME THE FLY WHEEL CAME APART AND FLEW IN TO THE CLUTCH AND TOOK IT OUT THY SAID IT WAS NOT MY FAULT THE SECOND TIM THEY SAID IT WAS MY FAULT BUT THEN THE SERVICE MANAGER LOOKED AT IT AND SAID IT WAS ENT HE SAID THAT THE DID NOT REPLACE THE PRESSURE PLATE THE FIRST TIME AND TAT IT WAS THE REASON THE CLUTCH WENT OUT THE SECOND TIME BUT JUST TO MAKE SURE HE AND MY SALES MAN TOOK A RIDE WITH ME TO MAKE SURE THAT I WAS NOT DOING ANY THING TO CAUSE MY CLUTCH TO GO OUT AND THEY BOTH SAID THAT MY DRIVING WAS FINE IT WENT OUT A THIRD TIME AND THEY SAID I WAS RIDING THE CLUTCH AND ARE REFUSING TO HONOR MY WARRANTY I HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL TRANSMISSION SHOPS AND SEVERAL MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE ALL SAID SOME THING IS MAJOR WRONG THAT I SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TEAR THAT TRUCK UP IN THAT SHORT OF A TIME WITH THAT FEW A MILES ON IT I HAVE THE INCIDENT FORMS I YALL WANT I CAN EMAIL THEM TO YALL. *TR
