THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THE FIRE BEGAN IN AREA OF FUSE BOX. *JB
THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE KEY BECAME HARD TO TURN, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A BURNT WIRE SMELL COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL, AND A BURN HOLE WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN, SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE IGNITION SWITCH. *AK *JB
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED CAUSING FLUID TO LEAK OUT AND EXTEND STOPPING DISTANCE. TS DEALERSHIP INSTALLED NEW BRAKE LINE. DEALERSHIP STATED STARTED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, HOWEVER CONSUMER DECLINED. *TT

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH DASHLIGHTS WENT OUT. CONSUMER PULLED OVER AND CHANGED THE FUSE. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT AGAIN, SMOKE WAS COMING FROM BEHIND THE DASHBOARD. CONSUMER DISCONNECTED BATTERY, AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER DETERMINED THAT WIRING HARNESS CAUSED FIRE.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING SMELLED SMOKE INSIDE OF VEHICLE. SOON AFTER, HEADLIGHTS SHORTED OUT . PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
HEATER BLOWER MOTOR IS STARTING TO SLOW DOWN AND GETS HOT DUE TO DEFECTIVE WIRING. THIS DEFECTIVE WIRING HAS CAUSED BLOWER MOTOR ON HEATER TO FAIL AS A RESULT OF INSUFFICIENT VOLTAGE TO BLOWER MOTOR. *AK RECALL NUMBER 875 REPLACED WIRING AND BLOWER MOTOR COIL RELAY, BUT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, AS A RESULT OF THE FAULTY WIRING THE ARMATURE IN THE BLOWER MOTOR HAS BECOME DEFECTIVE AND OVERHEATS AND SHUTS DOWN, CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD, DODGE RECALL CENTER REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRS NEEDED. *SLC

DEALER CALLED CONSUMR NEXT DAY AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE OF ALARM SYSTEM WHICH WAS AN AFTER MARKET SYSTEM. THEN, NEXT DAY THEY CALLED AND SAID IT WAS READY. AFTER THAT COSUMER STARTED HAVING OTHER LITTLE PROBLEMS. *AK

VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH KEY IN OFF POSITION, VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED UP AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT FIRE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
RECEIVED NOTICE 00V135000. CONTACTED DEALER. WAS INFORMED BY DEALER THAT MECHANIC WILL NOT BE REPAIRING IGNITION SWITCH. CHRYSLER'S ATTORNEY INDICATED THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT TO BE REPAIRED UNDER RECALL. *AK
IGNITION SWITCH FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NOT START, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN SO THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION WIRING, AND THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP WAS REPLACED*SLC

ON FOUR OCCASIONS CONSUMER CALLED DEALER TO GET A APPOINTMENT TO GET A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL HONORED CONCERNING IGNITION SWITCH. EVERY TIME DEALER WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD RETURN THE CALLS. BUT CONSUMER STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED A CALL.*AK
WHILE PULLING INTO A GAS STATION WINDOWS WOULD NOT GO DOWN. ALSO, ABS LIGHT/ CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK. THEN, CONSUMER COULD NOT TURN CAR OFF. CONSUMER HAD TO SHAKE STEERING WHEEL TO GET THE KEY OUT.*AK
CAR WAS PARKED INSIDE THE GARAGE. NO EVIDENCE OF AN ACTUAL FIRE, BUT THERE WAS A TERRIFIC AMOUNT OF HEAT COMING FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. *AK *ML
BATTERY EXPLODED UNDER HOOD. DAMAGE TO HIS VEHICLE. *AK
THE IGNITION SWITCH WIRING MELTED AND ALMOST CAUSED A FIRE! APPARENTLY THE IGNITION WIRING HARNESS INCORPORATES THE BLOWER MOTOR MAIN WIRE FEED AND OVERLOADS THE CUIRCUT CAUSING THE CONNECTION TO MELT. IT MELTED A HOLE IN THE STEERING COLUMN BACK COVER. I HAVE FOUND OUT SINCE THAT DODGE MUST BE AWARE OF THIS BECAUSE THEY NOW HAVE AN UPGRADE WITH A NEW WIRING HARNESS THAT HAS A SEPERATE CUIRCUT & RELAY FOR THE BLOWER MOTOR, INSTEAD OF RUNNING IT THROUGH THE IGNITION SWITCH.I FOUND THIS OUT ON THE WEB THROUGH AOL NEWSGROUP(ALT.AUTOS.DODGE.TRUCKS) DATED 10/30/99 BY [email protected]. HE WRITES THE SAME PROBLEM AND DODGES' PART NUMBER#4874996 SW PKG IG 8050083 AND INSTRUCTION SHEET # K6855214 DATED 2/26/1996 REVISED 3/13/1996. I ALSO FOUND OTHERS ON YOUR WEBSITE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. NHTSA # PE99031 & # EA99027. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND YOU SHOULD INVESTIGATE IT . THERE IS A REAL FIRE POTENTIAL HERE. OBVISOULY DODGE IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT I THINK IT SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL AND NOT UP TO THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR IT OR THEIR VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE.
