2007 DUCATI SPORT 1000S - GAS TANK HAS BEEN DEFORMED. IT NO LONGER SITS PROPERLY IN THE MOUNTING POINTS ON THE SIDE. IT HAS EXPANDED BEYOND THE POINT OF SITTING PROPERLY IN THE MOUNTING POINTS IN THE FRONT. THE TANK NOW RESTS UNSECURED ON THE FRAME AND WILL SHIFT AND TEETER FROM SIDE TO SIDE WHILE THE BIKE IS IN MOTION.

IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE POLYCARBONATE FUEL TANK ON THE MOTORCYCLE HAS SAGGED OR SPREAD, MAKING THE FRONT OF THE TANK LOOSE. WHEN THE TANK SPREAD, THE FRONT GROMMETS NO LONGER MAKE CONTACT WITH THE TANK, MAKING IT LOOSE. THIS POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. THIS FAILURE DID NOT HAPPEN ALL AT ONCE, BUT OVER TIME. *TR

THE FUEL TANK OF MY DUCATI 2007 GT1000 IS SPREADING. THE DEALER EXTENDED THE BRACKET OUT TO HOLD IT IN PLACE HOWEVER I THINK THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND TEMPORARY REMEDY AS THE TANK IS CONTINUING TO SPREAD. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE TANK CRACKS AND START A FIRE CAUSING HARM TO MYSELF AND OTHER. *TR

IT SEEMS MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE DEFECT AND IS WILLING TO COVER WHILE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT ONCE THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES, THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART FREE OF CHARGE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL AND MANUFACTURER SHOULD ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND RECALL ALL POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH NEW ONES WHICH ARE FREE OF DEFECTS. *TR
