CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE SHIFTING GEAR ISSUE. WENT TO A MECHANIC WHO DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON IT AND THE RESULTS ARE: Transmission Error Messages U0415 and P1CB1 and OBDII Codes ($03) shows the same error message as Transmission P1CB1 Manufacturer Specific. the closest Chrysler Dealership is unable to perform anything on this vehicle as they no longer are licensed for the Fiat Software. Hence, they are unable to inform me if this is covered by Fiat or if this is something that I need to fix out of pocket. Seeing that the 214 Fiat 500L does have a Power Train-Automatic Transmission Control Module and Power Train: Automatic Transmission (moving the transmission shift lever may have a delayed effect or no effect on selecting a transmission gear) = I believe it is covered, but it is not showing as a recall for my VIN #. How do I submit this or where/who can assist is getting this recalled and corrected? after looking at all of the complaints within NHTSA there are approximately 50 pages of combined complaints with each page showing 4 "call outs" and the majority being Power Train and reading pretty much all of them it appears that they are all the same issue. Their vehicles along with mine were not recalled; but we are having the same issues. What is needed or what needs to happen for all of the 500L Fiat being recalled for the Power Train issue? Does somebody need to die due to the failure of the Power Train when they are in traffic and the vehicle basically shuts down and/or off? Note, the miles on these complains vary from 55,000 up to 100,000
parked car, getting ready to leave and would not shift into gear. Finally shifted into gear and there was little to no power when accelerating. shifting into gears is hard, jerks vehicle when it does drop into a gear. No acceleration and when it does shifts gear with a lot of difficulty

The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was running, the transmission warning light illuminated, and a "Possible Ice" message was displayed even though there was no inclement weather. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the failure was not replicated. On another occasion while stopped, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The message "Shift into Neutral and Then Select Gear" was displayed. The contact shifted from Neutral to Drive. The vehicle was turned off and restarted. The vehicle was then towed to the same dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred within a month. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the dealer stated that the vehicle was already repaired. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, but no diagnostic result was provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

The transmission went out and radiator fluid temp high light came on. Fiat started to not be able to shift or too easily shifted by itself. The safety of others and myself were at risk because the car could have stopped or switched into other gears on the road and caused an accident.
Transmission will not shift up or down in automatic, was in the middle of traffic unable to maintain a safe speed.
I was driving my car down a busy road when I approached a red light and slowed to a stop. I kept my foot on the brake and the car in drive until the light turned green. Then, I tried to use the gas pedal without success and got an error message about needing to switch the gear to neutral. I was stuck in the road, unable to make the drive or neutral options work with the gas. Then, I tried switching my car into park and turning it off and back on again. It flashed on the "P" several times before I turned it off and refused to switch to the driving gear when I turned it back on. I had to put it in neutral and have strangers help push my vehicle off the road into a parking lot. The incident occurred on a busy street in the middle of a holiday weekend afternoon and caused tons of traffic and inconvenience and honking and stress.
When pressing on accelerator, it would not accelerate properly. Therefore having to press accelerator more while not going at accurate speed. Furthermore as driving the vehicle one day fully pressing on accelerator vehicle would not accelerate. Therefore, having to stop in the middle of the road going uphill.
Engine randomly stalls and will not restart upon entering on-ramps. Automatic transmission randomly fails and slips into limp mode while accelerating from stop lights or accelerating into highway traffic. This issue has caused numerous light rear end collisions with other vehicles following too closely when the transmission malfunctions, causing the other vehicle to impact the rear bumper of the 500L. I had to have the vehicle towed out of traffic because it would not restart or move under it’s own power
My car refuses to shift gears despite being able to start. The car and its gear shift (and transmission, power train, and any other potentially affected parts) are available for inspection upon request; however, the vehicle would have to be towed as it cannot be driven. There was zero prior warning, notice, etc. Cold weather may be a contributing factor, but this issue has been reported numerous time across this vehicle's make, model, and year (2014 FIAT 500L) by other owners to the NHTSA already. I've driven it sparingly since I moved states, so there is zero reason for the vehicle to stop shifting gears all of a sudden. Again, the car issued no warning lamps nor other messages nor symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, the failure simply occurred without warning. The vehicle is stuck in my driveway and blocking other cars. Had I been driving when this event occurred, there could have been a serious danger and/or disaster that could have put my life (and others) at risk.

When in traffic on the highway the car all of a sudden would not shift out of first. Following that, all power was lost to the drivetrain, but accessories were still powered and working. Before the car gave no power to the drive, the oil light came on in addition to the engine light, when the oil levels were checked they were confirmed to be normal. The car has been inspected by a mechanic who suggests replacing the entire transmission.

CAR INTERMITTENTLY SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL WHEN faced with an uphill grade forcing car backwards. We have had over 5 nrear accidents involving rolling off hillsides ar onto property or into traffic behind. Car will not engage we have been desperately against a steep hill many times. Also front ABS brakes intermittently grab 1 wheel forcing car sideways at 40 mph. Also car emits rattle sound coming from lower gearbox or engine area noticeable through cab, both before and after a complete $4300 transmission rebuild. Service completed by FIAT and Alfa Romeo od Van Nuys California. This car is going to kill us. Fiat is dragging their feet. I will list the first incident below at March 18, 2023 but then many more occurred after, even after trans rebuild. This design is life-threatening. Who rebuilds a trans at under 50,000 miles??

My car is experiencing the same issue as a previous recall T19. Does not go when foot is pressed completely on gas . Will start & only go 25mph & sound like it is stuck & will not shift. Then randomly will jerk & accelerate. Tool to local mechanic Oct 2023. went for oil change, just befor appointment started running weird and check engine light had came on,asked him to check it out. Local mechanic said reader said knock sensor. paid for part,and went for pick up. Check engine light was off, ran good for about 5 mins on way home had to turn around. Took it back now local mechanic says theres mice damage to wiring harness. estimated 3,000-5,000 total. after already paying 800 for knock sensor and oil change. Told to try & see if insurance will cover rodent damages . Insurance has towed car to Fiat dealership, now being told there is zero mice damage to my wiring harness. Replaced knock sensor now for a second time, still not the fix. Was told the Issue is unrelated to the mice & has to do with my PCM. Repair cost is more than my car is even worth at this point. Sounds just like past PCM recall issue. Mine was apparently fixed 03/23/17. Is there a way there could be another recall? I have under 70,000 miles & do not understand how this has happened.
It only has 42,000 miles and the transmission light came on and it didn't want to go into park. The dealership won't tow it and keeps trying to day the are going to charge me for it when it still has both recalls on it. I had to play with the shifter to get it out of reverse it wanted to stay in reverse. And I was afraid it was going to run someone over because I. Couldn't park it
While driving in bumper to bumper traffic. Started to have trouble with accelerating rhe vehicle. Noticed the car had a recall with that cause the issues thatbi was having. I took the car to the fiat dealership to have the recall fixed. But after working on the cat, it has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall. Still has the same problem.
While driving in traffic the check transmission light came on and car would no longer accelerate coming to a stop in traffic. Gears were not recognized per dash lights. Towed to shop for transmission repair which failed again within a six month time frame when once again while driving check engine light, check transmission light, check temp light all alternately started flashing, car quit accelerating and coasted to stop.

I am having severe transmission issues. Gears are 'unavailable' and will switch me into D1, D2, and so on, all the way up to D8. I can feel the gears shifting (not in a good way), and if the brake is applied too suddenly it will fall out of gear and the service engine light is on, the car will not move. This has happened several times to me, while driving (on the freeway!) VEry dangerous. I see there are 3 recalls for Fiat 500L. I wonder if I am one of the affected.

WON'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK OR REVERSE, IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED. THERE WERE TWO RECALLS, ONE IN 2014 AND ONE IN 2017 - THE TWO OPTIONS WERE TO REPROGRAM OR REPLACE PART. MY CAR APPARENTLY ONLY HAD THE REPROGRAMMING DONE AND STILL EXPERIENCES THE ISSUE BUT THE RECALL IS CONSIDERED CLOSED AT THAT. MANY OTHER DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE.

The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was making an abnormal clunking sound. The contact smelled a burning odor and saw black smoke inside the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that a gear was damaged. The part was replaced; however, while driving at 70 MPH, the transmission warning light illuminated and a message indicating to shift into neutral(N), then drive(D) was displayed. The vehicle started decelerating independently. The contact stated that as she shifted into neutral(N) and then into drive(D), the vehicle responded as needed. However, the failure had been reoccurring while driving and coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that the oil temperature sensors had failed. The vehicle was then taken to the Chrysler dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure and they could not service the vehicle as they did not have equipment for Fiat vehicles. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Manual transmission refused to shift while vehicle was moving. Car was stuck in neutral, so I was able to coast to curb. Had it been in gear, it would probably have been stuck in that one gear. Thinking it was just a broken cable, I took it to Telle Tire in Maplewood. They discovered the broken bushing and called a FIAT dealer for a replacement. The dealer informed them that this was a common problem, but that the part was not available separately; we'd have to buy the whole transmission ($6,000!), which they had in stock. Telle was able to locate an aftermarket bushing and I authorized the repair, which will run a little over $600.00. This has not been completed yet. There were no warning signs of the failure.
So the dealer fixed the transmission / power train recall in 2020, my car is now doing exactly what the recall states, getting stuck in park, asking me to put engine in neutral and then drive without the car moving, so on and so forth. Fiat, as well as the repair dealer northside imports, is refusing to fix this issue as they state the car is out of warranty, and they feel they fixed the recall. This car only has 73k miles on it. The other issue of complaint is that the wire melted on the blower fan for the ac unit. Smelled burning wires in the car, and both fiat and dealer state that is normal wear and tear. That is not, as it could have caused a fire inside the car, luckily i was able to pull over and put out the smoldering wire. I need this fixed, and fiat is refusing to cover. They stated i need a new power train module and transmission which cost 12k which is 4k higher than the actual value of the car. During this whole time, fiat and the dealership was recommending that i purchase a new car. I want to know how i can get this fixed or the manufacturer to acknowledge they have a safety issue. I also got charged 326 dollars just for them to diagnose the issue. nothing fixed. 326 dollars to plug in a machine for 15 minutes. This is very wrong.

when i started the vehicle it wouldnt go into reverse or drive. The engine light came on and said check transmission but when i put my car into manual mode it went forward then the engine light went away.
The Gear Shift Module is failing. It does not change gears from park to reverse or drive saying "gear unavailable". Service engine lite comes on and the red transmission symbol appears. I feel unsafe driving when this happens. I took it to a friend who is a mechanics and his diagnostic tool showed "P1CB1 gear shift activator 1 engage failure". This problem occurs with other customers complaints with this Fiat 500L model. I have to go to dealer and get this problem corrected because it is not safe to drive with the gears shift unresponding. I can image the bill I will be face with after all this.

Recalls T19/NHTSA 17V-192 and P06/NHTSA 14V-103 I have taken mt Fiat 500L to Crown Fiat Dublin ohio for the same things that the above recalls show. I have looked on line and it showes that the recalls have been done, but I am still having the same problem with the vehicle. What should I do now if they can not remedy this problem. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER IILDERTON DODGE LOCATED AT 701 S MAIN ST, HIGH POINT, NC 27260 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM MANHATTAN ALFA ROMEO FIAT IN DEC 2017. IT HAD 17000 MILES AND I PURCHASED AND EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH ZURICH FOR POWER TAIN FROM MANHATTAN FIAT. THE CAR HAD 1 RECALLS FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES ON IN MARCH 2014 AND ONE IN MARCH 2017. THE CAR NOW NEEDS A COMPLETE NEW TRANSMISSION AND IT ONLY HAS 52457 MILES. THE REPAIR IS OVER $7000. THE WARRANTY IS CLAIMING THAT IT WILL NOT COVER THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT IS OUTSIDE PARTS OF THE TRANSMISSION -HYDRALLIC SUPPLY UNIT BUT THE PART CAN ONLY BE REPLACED AS A WHOLE UNIT. ON 9/30/19 I TOOK IT TO THE FIAT DEALER IN MAPLE SHADE, NJ, WHERE THEY TOLD ME AT 35,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE (P1CB1 GEAR SHIFT ACTUATOR FAILURE) AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CROSS TRAFFIC AT AN INTERSECTION WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ENGAGE FIRST OR SECOND GEAR. AS I FRANTICALLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO GET THE CAR TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE REVVED TO APPROXIMATELY 5000 - 6000 RPMS UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY ENGAGED A GEAR AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF HARMS WAY. THERE WERE AT LEAST TWO MORE VERY CLOSE, ALMOST ACCIDENTS, JUST LIKE THE ONE DESCRIBED ABOVE; AS WELL AS OTHER INCIDENTS THAT HAPPENED SUCH AS CHANGING LANES IN A TRAFFIC JAM AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE, ETC. APPROXIMATELY FIVE MONTHS LATER (LAST WEEK), WHILE SITTING IN A TRAFFIC JAM FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES, I BEGAN SMELLING A BURNING SMELL. SHORTLY AFTER, WHILE INCHING FORWARD, THE CAR JUMPED; ALMOST FELT LIKE I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. ABOUT FIVE - TEN MINUTES LATER, A MESSAGE DISPLAYED SAYING TO PLACE THE CAR IN NEUTRAL THEN BACK INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. I DID THIS AND THEN ALARMS STARTED DINGING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER, WHEN TRAFFIC FINALLY STARTED TO MOVE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ONLY GO INTO 2ND, 4TH, AND 6TH GEARS. WHEN I TRIED TO USE THE MANUAL SHIFT MODE, IT SAID GEAR NOT AVAILABLE. I MANAGED TO GET MY CAR HOME AND TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE TCM AS BAD (CODE P1CB1). IT COST ME $1,221.51 TO FIX! THERE WAS A COMPLETED GEAR SHIFT MODULE RECALL (NHTSA # 14V-103) IN MARCH 2014 AND A COMPLETED REPROGRAM POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE RECALL (NHTSA # 17V-192) IN MARCH 2017. FIAT HAS FAILED MISERABLY TO FIX THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THERE'S STILL REPEATED PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS. THEY DID NOTHING FOR ME WHEN I CONTACTED THEM! IT IS A SAFTEY ISSUE! ALWAYS SAID THAT MY CAR WASN'T AFFECTED. SINCE 2015, I HAVE HAD THE CAR IN BECAUSE OF THE WAY IT DRIVES. IT SHIFTS SLOW AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS "SLIPPING". FOR TWO YEARS I ENDURED THIS AND FINALLY TOOK IT IN LAST YEAR BECAUSE IT WAS BYPASSING GEARS ON THE AUTOMATIC SHIFT (STALLING IN FOURTH GEAR AND SKIPPING TO THE SIXTH GEAR). ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AGO, THE TRANSMISSION HAD FINALLY GONE BAD...NOT JUST SLOW SHIFTING, BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AND WAS STALLING OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, HIGHLY UNSAFE AND FRIGHTENING FOR MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF. THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED A TRANSMISSION "RE-LEARN" AND THE CAR RAN OK BUT THE ISSUES RETURNED AND THE CAR WON'T GO IN REVERSE. BEFORE THIS ISSUE, IT WOUDN'T ENGAGE IN 1ST GEAR. THIS CAUSED ANOTHER ISSUE BECAUSE THOUGH THE CAR WOULD START, IT WAS STALLED AND WOULDN'T TURN ON ONCE I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. THE MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN SAYS: "GEAR UNAVAILABLE" AND I CAN'T EVEN USE THE MANUAL SHIFTER. SINCE 2015, I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR IN FOR MAINTENANCE AND THEY HAVE CONTINUALLY TOLD ME THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE ARGUED BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM AND I AM FINALLY TIRED OF BEING EITHER LIED TO OR MISTREATED. I HAVE RECORD OF ALL THE TIMES I CAME IN TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS CAR. I TOOK THE CAR IN BECAUSE OF THE RECALL ON THE POWERTRAIN LAST MONTH AND THAT WORKED TO SOME RESOLUTION BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND I AGREED TO THE TRANSMISSION RE-LEARN. FIAT AGREES THAT SOME PARTS ON THIS CAR ARE INFERIOR, BUT NOT TO THE POINT THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE CAR OR TRANSMISSION.

ALSO AIRBAG LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON A WEEKS PRIOR. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 46000 MILES ON IT IT SEEMS TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION I HAD JUST PURCHASED IT FROM A DEALER FOR MONTHS AGO. I STARTED GOOGLE LEAN THE ISSUE AND FOUND OUT THERE WERE RECALLS ON THE POWER TRANS AND AIRBAG AS WELL. CALL FIAHED DEALER AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $175 JUST TO LOOK AT THE CAR. THIS ISSUE IS SOMETHING THAT WAS A RECALL THEREFORE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY SAID WAS COMPLETED IT IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM I NEED HELP THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME I DON'T THINK IT'S RIGHT BECAUSE THE LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF AT DIFFERENT TIMES WHEN THE LIGHT IS OFF THE CAR RUNS NORMAL WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS ON THE CAR HAS AN ISSUE HOW CAN I DETECT WHEN THE LIGHT WILL TURN ON OR OFF AND GET CHARGED IN THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TELL IF THERE'S A PROBLEM OR NOT UNLESS THAT LIGHT IS ON I NEED HELP, THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I CAN GET INTO AN AUTO ACCIDENT IF THE GEAR SLOWS DOWN AND I CANNOT SHIFT AND GET BACK TO SPEED. WHILE DRIVING IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE TRAFFIC, GEAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 1ST OR 3RD GEARS. IT WOULD ONLY MOVE FROM 2ND TO 4TH, THEN, TO 6TH. HAD TO PULL OVER, SWITCH OFF THE CAR, WAIT ABOUT 10 MINUTES. THEN, AS I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, IT WAS WORKING AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. THAT HAPPENED 3 TIMES, ALREADY: AT THE BEGINNING OF MAY, THEN ON MAY 22ND AND, THEN, ON MAY 31ST (LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, SO FAR). TOOK THE CAR TO THE FIAT DEALERSHIP (IN RENTON, WA) ON JUNE 04TH AND THEY SAID IT THE TCM IS ATTEMPTING TO ACTUATE THE GEAR SHIFT 1ST-3RD AND IT FAILS TO REACH THE TCM REQUESTED ENGAGEMENT POSITION. THERE IS AN ERROR CODE FOR THAT: P1CB1-00-GEAR SHIFT ACTUATOR 1 ENGAGE FAILURE. THEY SAY THE COST IS ABOUT 6,000 DOLLARS BUT THAT WON'T GUARANTEE IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND, POSSIBLY, FATALITIES. FIAT SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM NOT THE CUSTOMER. THE TRANSMISSION EURO CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN THE CULPRIT AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS FIXED IT TWICE ALREADY BUT WITH NO LONG TERM SOLUTION. THIS IS EXPECTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN, AND THEY HAVE WARNED ME THAT I SHOULD DRIVE IT LIKE A MANUAL IN MANUAL MODE TO AVOID ANY FUTURE ISSUES, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC. THIS IS A MAJOR FLAW THAT FIAT OVERLOOKED, THEY EVEN CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION THE FOLLOWING YEAR TO A CONVENTIONAL AISIN AUTOMATIC AND GOT RID OF THE EURO CLUTCH AUTOMATIC. THEY INITIALLY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND OTHER COMPLIMENTARY COMPONENTS. I WAS CALLED TO PICK UP MY CAR AFTER BEING IN THEIR POSSESSION FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND TOLD IT WAS FIXED, HOWEVER WITHIN THE 10 MILES OF LEAVING THE LOT THE CAR DID THE SAME THING BUT THIS TIME ON AN OVERPASS OF A MAJOR FREEWAY WITH AN 18 WHEELER TRUCK BEHIND ME. FORTUNATELY THE CAR BEHIND US HAD LEFT AMPLE SPACE. IT ALSO HAPPENED PARKING ON A HILL IN SAN FRANCISCO AND FORTUNATELY THERE WAS ONLY A CURB IN BACK. THE MOVEMENT IS NOT LIKE WHAT HAPPENS IN A MANUAL SHIFT CAR. IT FEELS AS IF IT IS ACCELERATING IN THE DIRECTION OPPOSITE TO THE INTENDED. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS IN THE STEERING. WE WERE ON A VERY TIGHT WINDING ROAD HWY20. DRIVING FROM WILLETS TO FT. BRAGG AND BACK AND THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENED AND RESISTED TURNING IN THESE TIGHT CURVES. IT FELT AS IF THE POWER STEERING WAS FAILING OR THE STEERING WHEEL WAS IN DANGER OF LOCKING. I JUST TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND WAS GIVEN A WARNING FROM CHRYSLER THAT THE '(HSA) MAY NOT ACTIVATE AND SLIGHT ROLLING MAY OCCUR'. THE ROLLING IS NOT SLIGHT AND IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR ON MOUNTAIN SIDES JUST PLAIN DANGEROUS. THE STEERING PROBLEM DID NOT MANIFEST ITSELF TO THE TECH. THIS CAR HAS HAD A NUMBER OF POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEMS. THESE BEING THE MOST RECENT. IT TOOK THE RECALL, AFTER TWO YEARS AND FOUR TRIPS TO THE DEALER, TO ADDRESS THE THROTTLE PROBLEM WHICH WAS TERRIFYING. LOSING CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE ON A 8 LANE HWY IN HEAVY 75 MPH TRAFFIC IS HEART STOPPING.THIS CAR HAS SERIOUSLY FLAWED ENGINEERING. CHRYSLER IS NOT ACCEPTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS LATEST PROBLEM. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE.

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
