BOTH LEFT DUAL TIRES BLEWOUT AT 19,300.*AK FIRESTONE STEELTEX TIRES, CONSUMER ALSO STATES THAT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT AT 29810 MILES. *SLC

LT 225/75R16, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, 12000 MILES, CLASS C, FLEETWOOD, TOYOTA MOTOR HOME. *AK THE CONSUMER REPLACED TWO OF THE SIX TIRES WITH DIFFERENT A BRAND, BUT FIRESTONE DID NOT AGREE. INSIDE TIRE BLEWOUT A HOLE IN SIDEWALL, AND OUTSIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO MOTOR HOME. *AK CONSUMER ALSO HAD A RIGHT REAR INSIDE TIRE BLOWOUT PRIOR TO THESE FAILURES, DOT NUMBER VDIL1XA366 AND VDIL1XA386. *SLC

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE THE TREAD PORTION OF THE TIRE DE-LAMINATED AND SEPARATED FROM THE MAIN TIRE. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK ON THE TIRE AND IT WAS STILL INFLATED IT DID NOT LOOSE ANY AIR PRESSURE BUT THE STEEL BELTS WERE SHOWING. I HAD THE TIRE REPLACED AND THE TIRE TECHNICIAN HAD TOLD ME THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN A TIRE HAVE THE TREAD SEPERATE FROM THE MAIN BODY OF THE TIRE. I HAVE 4 MORE TIRES ON MY MOTOR HOME THAT ARE THE SAME TYPE AND I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE TIRES. I HAD VIDEO TAPED THE TIRE WHILE STILL ON THE MOTOR HOME AND I HAVE THE TIRE AND THE TREAD IF IT NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED.*AK (TIRESIZE: 225 75 R16)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 225 75 R16 )

THIS IS THE SECOND TIRE THAT HAS TREAD SEPARATION IN LESS THAN 25,000 MILES. THE MOTORHOME HAS THE SAME TIRES ON ALL 6 WHEELS. WHILE IN BOONE NC ON 08/28/00 THE FIRESTONE DEALER HAD 6 THAT HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM AN RV ( THE SAME TIRE) THAT WAS REQUESTED FROM THE FIRESTONE PLANT TO BE SENT BACK FOR ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION. RECOMMEND THAT THIS SERIES ALSO BE INVESTIGATED FOR HAZARDOUS TREAD SEPARATION.( DOT NUMBER: VD1L1XA406 TIRE SIZE: 22575R16 )

CONSUMER STATED THAT IF TIRE HAD NOT BEEN MADE OF STEEL, COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL. FIRESTONE AGREED TO UPGRADE TIRE AFTER DEBATE OVER PROBLEM.
